CCC Badminton: Social@MSAC Wed 7:30pm-10:00pm

Greetings,

On Wednesday 2-January-2008, our CCC Badminton will commence a weekly Social Badminton Session@MSAC.

Please feel welcome to play with our CCC Family of Badminton players.

We will meet on Court No.5 @MSAC, every Wednesday night from 7:30pm.

Please be informed that our players@CCC Badminton Club have been using the New Scoring System(NSS) which was introduced by the BWF 2 years ago.

Anyone unfamiliar with the NSS, please do not hesitate to ask me to explain how it works.

Our 1st CCC@MSAC Social Wednesday 2-Jan-2008 brought us some surprises......

(1) Shy-Y, who played at our CCC@Box Hill, returned after a 3 years' absence
(2) Siong-W, who emailed CCC sometime ago, attended his first session@CCC
(3) Jonas-C, who is on holidays from London, England, visited and played with us
(4) Sean-F, from Malaysia, enjoyed his first Social Games with us
(5) Kim-F and Wesley-F, who haven't attended CCC@Waverley for months, appeared

Regarding our regulars from CCC@Waverley, 4 attended, namely;

Chris, glad to hear of your wednesday progress. i would like to come to the 1st wednesday CCC@MSAC after making the 1st sunday CCC@glen waverley but had other things to do at that time.

anyway, the sat day msac coaching group as discussed at last friday's supper (thim and patrick), have you heard from them yet? let's hope all the wednesday CATS regular found somewhere to hone their skill!

It's not as smooth sailing as you think... because the confirmation of players coming weren't there. :(:(:(

It is hoped that more of our players@ccc will be more definite in whether they are coming or not, and then post in this thread, like what Kim has done.

well, i guess rather than telling people EBS is gonna happen. i would ask people for their opinion in terms of how to find a way to "know how many people are coming".

For Wed 23-Jan-2008, we have hkhung & ShyYen having done their first EBS. :):):)

BTW, last Wed 16-Jan-2008, we had 16 players. And it was the first time that our girls turned up in a fuller force... 5 Girls!!! :) (namely: annliew, Jane-H, Min-K, Lily-G and Natalie-E). ;););)

Also CBA told me that they wanted our Court No.5 on Wed 23-Jan-2008. So I am busy trying to organise with MSAC... to see what we can do for that one night. :(:(:(

BTW, it looks like our CCC will remain @MSAC for our Wednesday Social Sessions.

For Wednesday nights, there are more members@CCC interested to play Socials@MSAC than @Waverley, almost doubled. :):):)

However, there are more members@CCC interested to play @MSAC than @Waverley on Friday nights... So, our CCC will return to Waverley for our Friday Socials in February 2008.

Received news today from MSAC saying that we will remain @Court No.5 for Wednesday 23-Jan-2008. :):):)

So, we will have the same court allocation and the same time allocation as organised:
Court No.5, 7:30pm to 11:00pm.

And we will hire more courts when more players attend.

During the month of January 2008 while we were @MSAC, it was found;
(1) For Wednesday night, twice the number of our players wanted to play @MSAC
(2) For Friday night, twice the number of our players wanted to play @Waverley

A decision has been made.
(1) For Wednesday night, we will remain to play @MSAC
(2) For Friday night, we will return to play @Waverley

1. To encourage more members to make confirmation via our CCC threads@Badminton Central about attending our session so that more courts could be booked in advance.
2. To disband our EBS since few are interested and extra administration is required.

4. CCC returning to Waverley on Friday nights, but remaining @MSAC on Wednesday nights.
5. The Malaysia Open Super Series 2008 played last week.

Just received an apology from MSAC regarding the mess in our court booking last night, Wednesday 23-Jan-2008.

From next Wednesday 30-Jan-2008, our courts will be located permanently on:
* Court No.11 (From 7:30pm to 11:00pm)
* Court No.12 (From 8:30pm to 11:30pm)

The above bookings are based on an expectation of 16 players attending. We are very lucky to have adjacent courts. :):):)

And of course, more courts would be booked when more players wish/want to attend our CCC Social Games@MSAC.

PS: We hope that our players could give us earlier confirmation on how many will be attending.

In this thread(Social Games@MSAC) you said you won't be attending on Wednesday 30-January-2008, but in the Waverley Wednesday thread (CATS@Waverley) you said you won't be attending on Wednesday 6-February-2008. :confused::confused::confused:

Sure. But it would be a lot more expensive than patony as most of the chinese restaurant has minimum charges.

Beside, that place close on 12:00 sharp. Great way to remind people that it's time to go home.

Then again, if you know of any place for supper near albert park that is open at that time, let us know.

it's good for a change.

But bear in mind, it cost extra time for people to park + get to city. so if you want to finish at the same time 12:00, it might not be so easy to do that if we relocate to the city.

Our CCC Wednesday Social Games Session Time is now "From 7:30pm to 11:00pm (a 3.5 hour session)".

This extension of time would make many of our players, who have to work back at the office and who could only arrive after 8:30pm, happier. :D:D:D

This is a sad post/thread.

I am in distress... my mother back in Malaysia is terminally ill with luekemia at her death bed.

I could be called back to Malaysia at any time. When I am away in Malaysia, we will need our members to continue organising our CCC Badminton sessions.

Our CCC communication is based here at Badminton Central.

I wish that all you members could continue with our regular sessions and communicate here at Badminton Central.

Also when I am away, we will need someone to pick up Llewellyn for our Friday sessions@Waverley.

And for our Wednesday@MSAC, we will need someone to organise our sessions.

For our Saturday and Sunday training sessions, members can decide to turn it into Social Games sessions or cancel them all together. Please let me know so that I can cancel our permanent bookings@MSAC.

MSAC (aka Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre) Is Melbourne's best multi-facilitation sporting complex situated next to Albert Park where they are holding the Grand Prix this week and every year around March.

Dont worry, MSAC isn't your dodgy combined basketball/badminton lined courts, has the especially for badminton side lights and SOME courts have carpeted floors for professional competitions.

alternatively, i think you can tell people the time and date, then we can organise people to see who's closest to where you are.

It's great to know that more players are attending our CCC Sessions@MSAC on Wednesday nights.

By all means, if we are able to book more courts(as required to accommodate more players), we should go ahead to do so, thereby sticking to our CCC policy of "8-Players-to-1-Court over our 3.5-hour session".

But if we are unable to book more courts, please inform our players who arrive late(after our "full-house" attendance), that Albert Park Badminton Club(playing on court no.1, 2, 3, and 4) have informed me that they are happy to accommodate our players. However, their session is 1 hour shorter than ours, starting at 7:30pm and finishing at 10:00pm.

Some of you might not know that Albert Park Badminton Club know me well and have in the past, sent their stronger players to CCC when they themselves arrived at a "full-house' situation.

yes, without white board can be save time and too much rules might be annoying although "white board system" initiative is fair for every player got a chance to play equal game for the session...I think Chris wil be the first agree, because he can play more games without the white board system....:D:D:D

i do agree that when there are more players, there's a need for whiteboard. Otherwise there's confusion for organising games to see who's on.

At the end of the day, i think the number of players is not the sole reason that drive the decision of using whiteboard, but also whether the players themselves can organise games for each other in advance.

Truth....since one of the session we have 20 player for 2 court on wednesday, i think we have to control the no of people that attend on wednesday session, 2 court not more than 16 people, so white board is not an issue there.

Advantages in using the Whiteboard
(1) It shows who has arrived for our session
(2) It informs members who will be playing next
(3) It monitors how many games each member has played
(4) It is very useful for members wishing to organise "rematch" games
(5) It informs us "Who's gone home"
(6) It informs us "Who's going for supper"

Disadvantages in using the Whiteboard
(1) It takes time and effort to set it up
(2) It requires members to organise their own games ***

*** When lazy members do not attend to the Whiteboard, other members are spending much time organising games for them lazy ones. :(:(:(

Received this email from MSAC for our players' car parking.

Attention Badminton Players@CCC:

MSAC is making the whole parking process a whole lot easier by removing the need for you to validate your ticket every time you come in to use the centre.

The new parking procedure consists of one ticket only for 2 hours free parking. Should you be here for longer than 2 hours then you will need to pay a flat rate of $2.00 after 5pm week days or a flat rate of $2 on the weekend (again with the first 2 hours free).

The MSAC Club Card is an alternative for you to consider rather than paying the flat rate of $2.00. The Club card will allow you to simply scan as you enter the car park for free parking. The Club card costs $20 per year.

This new procedure will be implemented as of Monday 7-Apr-2008, so please give it some thought as to what you'd like to do.

If you think the Club Card will be good value for you then please pay a visit to the Customer Service desk where they will look after you.

Last night, elained (from Ireland) and Raghu-K (from India) played with us. They attended our Wednesday CCC Social@MSAC session for their first time. A BIG WELCOME to them !!! :)

After our session, supper as suggested by Sleepie_angel was held at Melbourne Chinatown:

At supper, annliew told us she won in her CBA Semi-finals. We wish her GOOD LUCK for the CBA Final held next Wednesday 16-Apr-2008.

Last night, Wednesday 16-Apr-2008, we welcomed 12 new players. :):):)

Our btchia was correct... We ended up playing on 3 courts because 26 attended in total.

A 'Special Thank You' to btchia, Edward_C, and to those who helped in organising games for new players.

It was great that new comers, KK7CN and lwiew, informed us about their attendances like what CCC players do. And to the other new comers, please add your names to our Namelist if you are coming... It would help make organising our sessions easier.

I got a big question, since the wednesday attendance flutate a lot, should we limit attendance to the first 16 players first come first serve basing on the fact that we might not be getting more than 2 courts until 8:30pm, or leave it as it is.

hkhung... We have already applied that limit; namely "16 players if we can get 2 courts".

We allowed it to go to 24 players only after we got the third court, otherwise the limit of 16 would have stopped us from taking in more.

However, we allowed it to get to 26 because players who have posted that they are coming, arrived much later (around 8:30pm to 9:30pm); namely kikks, kikks's friend (Samson), Sohai_C and ShyYen. :(

BTW, players were getting an average of 8 games each ; And they were happy. :)

So let us now plan for our next Wednesday 23-Apr-2008 session......
