So, the last qualification tournament for the Beijing Olympics will be the India Grand Prix to be held from Tuesday 1st to Sunday 6th of April, 2008 in Hyderabad.

It will be India's first Grand Prix Tournament event. And it will carry $130,00 in prize money.

Grand Prix Badminton Tournament in April 2008

New Delhi (PTI): India's first Grand Prix badminton event, carrying qualification points for Beijing Olympics, will take place from April 1-6 in Hyderabad.

The tournament, which was scheduled for last September but postponed after the bomb blasts in Hyderabad, will have $130,000 as prize money and will feature some of the top players in the world.

"This will be the last qualification tournament for the Beijing Olympics. There are already 10 Grand Prix tournaments carrying Olympic qualification points but BWF has added this tournament to the list and we are thankful for this," Badminton Association of India President V K Verma said.

BTW, I have just checked our own BC 2008 Tournaments Schedule... and I found that the India GP Gold is to be held in July, 1-6.

Could it be a misprint somewhere, either @BC or @The Hindu Online? :confused:

Basdzine just published the article that India Open will be held in April...in that article, The organizer thanked BWF to move it to April as last tournament for Olympic qualification......so I think April should be right schedule for now.......
