Sigh....meaning I have to stay longer to watch...
The schedule for tomorrow is out. It will begin even later than today...at 6:30pm  If each match takes an hr to complete, then the MD will only be on court earliest around 10:30pm.

and World #1 pair. Ganbatte for your next match.
Hi Everyone!
I just want to say that I'm truly impressed by you guys. This site is really the place to be when Super Series are being played all over the world.
I've just read through this thread about my match against KKK/Tan and I think you guys do make it exciting to be watching here with all your opinions and feelings put into badminton.
I'm sorry to all KKK/Tan fans for putting out your favorite pair so early. I'm sure they will redeem themselves soon.
I'd also like thank all you guys who cheered for Lars and I during this match and before. It' really pleasant reading to see your views.
Have a good one and see you tomorrow against veteran malaysians.
I'll be turning in now, so I'll read your comments tomorrow.
You can send me a personal message if you want, but I'll only answer messages being sober. Hmm, not the correct term, but I think you know what I mean.
Hope I have some time to answer good questions later on.
Kind Regards

A straight forward victory for Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan as they thrashed Roman Spitko/Michael Fuchs 21-12, 21-11 in 21 mins, the second shortest match of the day
A tough match awaits them against a familiar foe in Jens Eriksen/Martin Lundgaard Hansen. It's always a fiery affair between the 2 pairs, with last year's quarter-final match at the Malaysia Open stretching to the distance and Kido/Hendra only winning it 30-28
The other encounter in the quarter-final of the China Open also lasted 3-sets with Kido/Hendra surviving through their ever-reliable fast-drives and eventually turned the match around to win it 21-16, despite trailing in the rubber-set.

KKK/TBH becomes just an ordinary pair that anyone could beat them right now, even MK/HS who got terrible head 2 to head to KKK/TBH before.
If they happen to meet again in the near future, I would say MK/HS will win.
I seconded that. Now The world's no.1 can be well beaten, anytime, anywhere and by any pairs :o

Upset to CJ, TH, KKK/TBH in MO08 so far. No player playing in SS is safe, that is why it is remarkable for LD to be so consistent in the way he plays SS, it takes a lot to beat him. My pick and definitely the favorite to win OLY08.

Well, i think LCW is our only hope in Beijing. Sad to say that KKK/TBH is no longer reliable and feared, any pair can beat them. Fu/Cai and MK/HS will be the favourites.

Fu/Cai is also on the same boat if that's the case.
truth is. the strength of the few top ranked mens doubles pairs are very close right now. it is unrealistic to expect one pair to win win win all the time.

KKK/TBH wouldnt be the World No 1 next ranking comes up. They do better as World No 2 or 3. Hope they peak at right time - In Aug 08.
Kido/Setiawan didnt win titles or runner-up (stimes also losing early rounds include on homeground)till July 2007, the biggie in WC in Aug. And they've partner 4 years or so.

..it's a WIN-WIN-WIN-WIN scenario for all involved:..
1) You guys, actually non-American BCers, can stay up & follow the matches, carefree, because next day is Saturday - WIN
2) We, in the American continent, don't have to stay up with our eyes wide awake tonight, just to follow the match. Instead we can go to sleep & wake up refresh tomorrow morning to enjoy the matches. East coasters have the best time schedule, as they've already awaken by then. - WIN
3) Players can get a bit extra hrs. of rest/sleep...heck even time to do some shopping - WIN
4) And last those who work in & around KL can go & watch the tourney after work, without missing much if at all. Even the organizers can do a bit of their own errands/chores/shopping before the main event. Those watching in INA can also follow the tourney, granted they're showing it on telly, together with their family. - WIN
;)
I hope you meant the right time for us on the west coast to get up and sip the coffee since most baddy players are in PST ;)

Yes he beat Chen Jin (3) again to confirm his impressive improvement since the last Singapore Open.
He will find Lee Hyun Il, former World no.1, a hard nut to crack as LHI seems to be recovering well from his 'self-imposed' inaction early last year. Kendrick must believe in his own abilities and tell himself that he is as good as anybody out there! I believe so! ;)
But I'll still root for Kendrick! :)

U wanna represent ur own counrty, carrying the national flag. u must get ready for all the bashing here and there
Otherwise, stop playing. That's simple
And how many of post u see the MAS fans were supporting them everytime they were playing ? Do a count urslf
Despite majority of the supporting posts, what is the results they get
Ppl are free to voice their opinions, don't expect to read every single post keeps on praising them no matter win or lose.
15-20 years ago? Bro, this is 21st century ;)
I think you should stop basing KKK/TBH. They simply lost to a better pair yesterday. Both players played their hearts out. KKK was good but TBH was a little off his best. Both JR/LP were very good. I guess any good pair be it CY/FHF or MK/HS would also find it difficult to beat JR/LP yesterday.
You can bash them like Pemuda if they lost because of their FANCY play but they weren't!

I think most of the KKK/TBH fun in this forum seem asking too much from them: It look to me that - the requirement is either KKK/TBH DO NOT enroll in the tournament, if the enroll in the tournament, they must win.
of course as a fun we want them to win, but NOBODY can win all the time !
As well as they play their hearts out.......they should gain our support.

Twice were to Koo/Tan. Out of the 10 losses they had last year, an astonishing 6 were attributed to MAS pairs (4 to Koo/Tan and 2 more to Choong/Lee). The remaining losses were 2 to Korean pairs (Jung/Lee in Korea Open and they were the eventual champion; and 1 more to scratch pair in the All England), 1 to Luluk/Alvent (and a further loss at the Kejurnas, which was not included in the official record) and 1 more to Fu/Cai.

Kendrick Lee Yen Hui is 23, born October 8, 1984.
He is currently ranked 24th in the world whereas Chen Jin is ranked 4th.
Recently he has beaten not only CJ but also Sony Dwi Kuncoro (6), Boonsak Ponsana (12), Yeoh Kay bin (21), during the last Korat SEA Games 2007 and Przemyslaw Wacha (14) (Poland) during the Dutch Open in October 2007.
Kendrick was actually the World Junior Championships Runner-Up in 2002. So he has the potential to be a top player. But as he had to do compulsory military training, which we call National Service or NS for short, for about 2 plus years when he reached 18 years of age, his badminton training was kept on hold. He also sacrificed his Polytechnic studies to concentrate on badminton. Subsquently, he has trained full time under a Chinese coach initially and now under Indonesian coach, Asep Suharno, who also trains Ronald Susilo, his senior and more illustrious teammate, now ranked 19 in the world.
It was Kendrick who led the Singapore Team at the SEA Games 2007 and won silver for both team and individual events. Ronald had not recovered from a recent injury and therefore could not play.
You can find out more about Kendrick from the Wikipedia website:

Thanks for the long info. I saw the videos of K Lee of SEA, very good. But he was not so good against TH at the final. So I assumed he would have difficulty to beat JC. But I guess he's on the way up. Chn has another guy called Gong Weijie, whom Chn did not appear send to play in MO 08, is as good as CJ. Maybe Chn should let him play MS too in the future.

Not necessarily for some of them. They dont do well, next tourney not in action. With all the bashing, from all quarters, goes spiralling down.
Well... some of us gotta be the supporting voice in the midst of all the criticism they get.

Messages of support to Msia players can be sent via Ants mah. At least the players know there're still those out there who support them.
It does make some difference to some of the fans, that they dont jump to conclusions from media reports & start booing all the way.

As for the homeground thing, if you find your own backyard tough, Beijing is only gonna be much more tougher. Over there, they aint gonna hand you that Olympic gold.

Apparently, they also booed at LCW and other players.
For Msian players, homeground is tougher crowd than overseas(this you also know). When they are behind, still in the game, their own countrymen boo at them.
China fans still supported their players even when their players were behind in points - on homeground and overseas. Can hear on tv shouts of "China team, jia you!".
BCL in France was behind LCW 4 to 5 points, can hear loud shouts of "BCL, jia you!"
Anyway, fastdrop has been to all of the SS last year, he would know better.
TBH - it is already known gets nervous and pressured with all this - he doesnt like all the attention.

Well, being a professional sportsmen/women is no walk in the park. There are always gonna be pressure and demanding fans etc etc. But a true and worthy champion will be able to rise above all that.
Maybe we should accept the fact that KKK/TBH were bundled out by a better pair than say they lost because the local crowd were too demanding.
As for TBH, the lad just got to step up to the plate and not let pressure etc get to him the next time, if he wants to be a true champion. As for the attention, he got no choice cos I doubt BWF will empty the entire stadium each time he takes the court.

Lars/Jonas according to BCers in the stadium played very well. In post-match intv, said Lar/Jonas targeted TBH as the weak link for the day.
What I mean is the booing & jeering part makes matters worse, already tense, more panic. They gotta learn to overcome loh.
Nahhhh, BWF no need empty stadium, :), TBH just need to program his mind to think crowd booing at opponent, not him.
It took LCW a couple of years to cope (not 100% yet too) with all that - The crowd also booed at LCW in 2nd set match with Wacha. LCW fought back with big margin & won in 3rd set.

Whether Lars/Jonas picked on TBH solely or not, they won. They were the better pair. KKK/TBH lost to a better pair. The crowd, traffic jams in KL, Lingam tape etc etc or whatever Malaysian thingy got nothing to do with their defeat.
Booing and jeering happens in every sport.

Booing & jeering part - not as much against own team. Boo for opposing team happens a lot - for the sports I watch at least. Already said - they must learn to overcome loh.
Lars/Jonas said that statement in The Star intv, and said that it was the reason they managed to win, meaning it's a factor TBH have to watch out & improve - nervousness & all.

I say again booing and jeering is part and parcel of sports. Happens in tennis, football, rugby, basketball, badminton, etc. Again I repeat, all professional sportsmen/women must learn to deal with it.
Good on Lars/Jonas for doing their homework. Fair play to them. They were the better pair.
