nope, the newspapers here don't cover badminton very much, as far as news goes, it's a minority sport.

TH is having back-injury....maybe he want to stay home to treat the injury...;)
TH also said he would concentrate in 3SS and Thomas Cup only...the 3 SS are MO, AE and probably Swiss ...and AE 08 will be the most previlage tournament for him this year..;)..becos he havent won AE B4!

Ohhh Poor Xingfang... when ? before Malaysian Open started ?
Wish her get well soon ;)
Xie Xing Fang will withdraw from the Korean Open. She wont be attending.

The other reason is he knows he can't win with his current form, simple as that.

This is purely my opinion about Taufik and hope it doesn't offend any Taufik's fan. We all know how talented he is but as he gets older and trains less, he's no longer the same player he once was feared by many. Even Lin Dan no longer think Taufik is his main obstacle. Taufik wanted to concentrate in All England as this is the only "big" one missing in his resume but I honestly think he will not go far in AE as so many top notch players are aiming to do well here and they're most probably working much harder than the flamboyant Taufik. Taufik is still being respected by many mainly due to his past achievement as World Champion 2005 and Olympic Champion 2004.
Taufik can pick whatever tournaments he like to attend and give whatever reasons for attending but can he actually regain his old form and win? My answer is NO, he can't.

He still can ( remember Peter gade or Kennith can still win even your Wong Choong Han can still win)...currently he is doing the program to increase his fitness...he has back injury while training back home...getting worst after playing Park...Yes..TH does not like to play in Korea...also he will play fewer tournaments and concentrate on AE and Olympics...I still believe that he can win some tournaments.....

Is that an old back injury coming back? He's been having back injuries since just before 2006 Thomas Cup.

With Xie Xingfang withdrawal possibility, CHN will only depend on two WS to fight in KOR SS, Zhang Ning and Lu Lan. Good prospect for others to shine here...

You guys better believe it. Spoken to Hauge a few hours ago while he was awaiting his HK flight, his voice sounded terrible. Hauge must really be so ill, just shows how extreme and dedicated is his support of his countrymen and love for the game. Very fortunate that Kido/Setiawan did not fail our friend yesterday. :D
Hauge, take care, remember what I said. No spicy food, cheerleading duties or running to more badminton tournaments until you get better .........

..in other words, Hau-ge needs to spend more time in BC, to post more rather than travel all over the world, enjoying the many tourneys and the delicious foods during the get-together...*ahem*..:);)
*Btw, our Hau-ge has been under the weather prior to his trip to the Orient, last weekend. Get well soon, Hau-ge!!

Zheng Bo/Gao Ling are now gone from the draw. Can the INA XD pair take this opportunity again?
Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan will now face a familiar face in R32, the same opponent they beat in rubber-sets last week, Robert Adcock/Robin Middleton.

So, for all the Msian fans, KKK/TBH withdrawal no big deal.
Many others also withdrew. A bit weird for Zheng Bo/Gao Ling to withdraw from both SS. Although they are WR no 1, they still need to maintain their position.

Gade is playing with a broken rib and only reason he participates is the olympic ranking points. So I guess theres a risk he will pull out of the tourney or loose to a lesser skilled player. However he beated Chen Yu today which was quite surprising taking his current state in mind.
Tine suffered from her accident with the anckle last sunday and hasnt recovered yet. So in my opinion it was the right choice for her to stay at home and recover for upcoming tournaments.

Agreed, Tine's staying out is a good choice, not only for her bad ankle, but so that CHN has less chance to dissect her game. She's now the top pick to topple CHN WS squad in Beijing ....... only Tine and Korea's Jun can match their power. The rest of the challengers rely on stamina and skills.
How did Gade break his rib, Morten? Surely that's not a badminton injury.

hmmm - i think there is a stomsach bug going round - badmintonengland just says that gail emms felt unwell - perhaps a lot of the people who played in malaysia have come down with the same thing Hau-ge has got..
i suppose most will be making the journey to europe for the swiss open and all england - on top of that it's the english nationals early in feb, and most of english players turn out for that.
get well soon everybody.

Gade has suffered from pneumonia after christmas and it appears it came from there. He says it hurts but it wont be worse when playing.
