badMania 01-19-2008, 04:37 AM MEN'S SINGLES
Lee Chong Wei [1] vs Lee Hyun Il -- the home favorite to lift his 4th MAS Open crown!
MEN'S DOUBLES
Lars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen vs Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan [2] (MATCH OF THE DAY) -- undoubtedly, the last match is the one to watch! The Danes are on to win their first SS title, but, Kido/Hendra are no pushovers. The INA pair has a slight edge to win their third SS titles in a row!
WOMEN'S SINGLES
Zhu Lin [3] vs Tine Rasmussen -- I have a sneaky feeling, Tine might suprise us, although Zhu Lin is the overwhelming favorite here.
WOMEN'S DOUBLES -- as always, a BIG YAWN!
MIXED DOUBLES
He Hanbin/Yu Yang [6] vs Lee Yong Dae/Lee Hyo Jung -- the reforged Korean partnership has beaten two World Champions. But, the Chinese pair has been quietly done their part too. I think the Koreans deserve a title here!
THEbaschti 01-19-2008, 05:03 AM I really hope that Denmark takes 2 titles tomorrow, that'd be amazing!
It's gonna be very tough though to beat MK/HS or ZL...

....
MS-the ex-coach vs. the ex-player. LM knows LCW's game. Should be interesting.
MD-as always, whichever pair controls the net will most likely win.
WS-could go rubber. Whoever has the stamina will most likely win.
XD-Error-few LHJ = the KOR have a chance.
WD-thank you for the yawn, as i'm yawning myself and getting ready to sleep..:p
Hope to see the same great support from our M'sian BCers tomorrow; and hope abedeng will provide the entertainment from the stadium, once again, tomorrow!;)
yyclub 01-19-2008, 05:32 AM ctjcad, LCW has transformed since LM dumped him.
Tine got all my support.
Armor_tec_14 01-19-2008, 05:42 AM Why Is it that you all don't like WD ?
eaglehelang 01-19-2008, 05:47 AM Why Is it that you all don't like WD ?
China vs China = boring = <yawn>.
Armor_tec_14 01-19-2008, 05:52 AM But China and China are the best ones to watch because they give each other a challenge. When China play other countries , you basically know whos going to win.
Tjun Tjun 01-19-2008, 05:55 AM China vs China = boring = <yawn>.
Interesting! China v China/Malaysia. CTF's gf is playing lah! :D:D:D
eaglehelang 01-19-2008, 06:00 AM But China and China are the best ones to watch because they give each other a challenge. When China play other countries , you basically know whos going to win.
You're joking right? When China vs other countries - just from this tournament - who would have thought :
1) Kenderick (Spore) win over Chen Jin
2) KJ(Denmark) win over BCL
3) Korea WS win over Zhang Ning
When China vs China, there's : 1) walkover 2) retired halfway due to injury, later the same player is fit to play another dept 3) stimes play half heartedly, 1st half of 1st set know who will win
vching 01-19-2008, 06:02 AM WD is, IMO, boring to watch...
people want inter country competitions...
Armor_tec_14 01-19-2008, 06:04 AM You're joking right? When China vs other countries - just from this tournament - who would have thought :

Actually I'm being serious. WD is like almost always guaranteed. I love watching Gao Ling / Huang Sui v Zhang Jiewen / Yang Wei
vching 01-19-2008, 06:14 AM my predictions:
The Badminton Blog - Malaysian Open 2008 Finals Predictions (http://thebadmintonblog.blogspot.com/2008/01/malaysian-open-2008-finals-predictions.html)
xymaerts 01-19-2008, 06:46 AM Tomorrow MS Final is more on Li Mao VS Misbun.. Li mao will through all LCW's week point to Hyun Ii.. Where else Misbun will prove to Li Mao that under his change. LCW had overcome the week point that mentioned by Li Mao..
It will be an interesting match...
But i still put my faith on LCW...

Lee Chong Wei in Malaysia Open is like Taufik Hidayat in Indonesian Open... Great home-court player! I predict by the time LCW retires, he will collect 7 Malaysian Open titles. Taufik has 6 Indonesian Open titles now, I predict he will get one more and surpass Ardy Wiranata's record... ;)
I really hope that Denmark takes 2 titles tomorrow, that'd be amazing!
It's gonna be very tough though to beat MK/HS or ZL...
I don't think the Danish veterans will beat our INA world champs tmrw. The Danes went through 2 very tough matches in a row, extremely hard to win 3 matches against the world's biggest guns. Kido-Hendra, on the other hand, had relatively easier straight set matches. They are younger and fresher. MD title for INA, WS title for DEN... :D
Why Is it that you all don't like WD ?
Most male BC fans like WD when Reiko Shiota and Kumiko Ogura plays.... ;) :D :D :D We just don't like "CHN vs. CHN" WD. And I can already predict that LYB, the Chinese Team Manager, will arrange that Gao Ling - Zhao Tingting will win. They need the world ranking points more than the other CHN pair to qualify for the OG. :p
Krisna 01-19-2008, 07:51 AM But China and China are the best ones to watch because they give each other a challenge. When China play other countries , you basically know whos going to win.
?!?!?!  The facts of international badminton are not like what you wrote...

Qidong 01-19-2008, 08:04 AM Actually I'm being serious. WD is like almost always guaranteed. I love watching Gao Ling / Huang Sui v Zhang Jiewen / Yang Wei
Agreed. Especially in the final, all Chinese ladies fight for every point. Very entertaining.

Dude..I suggest u watch the China vs China matches in the Hong Kong and China Opens. Mostly no match, some others didn't even finish their matches. And when played, u know which pair will win basically :o
**KZ** 01-19-2008, 08:54 AM I hope that JR/LP, Tine and LCW wil win...was hoping Nathan and Gail to meet the Thais in the finals as it'll be interesting to see these 2 pairs in a match their matches hav always been close...plus both pairs have not won a SS title...
xsakurax 01-19-2008, 08:55 AM yep that is the common trend in china vs china match..seldom we can see they are really fighting unlike the indonesian, denmark or malaysian..
Anyway for tomorrow Lee Chong WEi Jia You!!!!
Zealous 01-19-2008, 08:57 AM LEE CHONG WEI !!!! Finally I'll get to see him play live !!!! Jia you Chong Wei. Chong Wei boleh !!! Good luck Chong Wei !!! I just have to say in 3 different languages.:p

kinda agree with you...just that during HKO 07, the WD final was fantastic, dragged into 3 sets, with both side, zyw/wyl, dj/yy, fight wholeheartedly....exceptional case i guess...
as for tmr, i think yw/zjw will 'let' gl/ztt win....
badMania 01-19-2008, 09:31 AM Agreed. Especially in the final, all Chinese ladies fight for every point. Very entertaining.
Yawn...most ppl took a break when the WD was played during the HK Open Final. I believe the same thing will happen tomorrow :D
zqloy 01-19-2008, 09:32 AM Was quite curious how would LHI play tmr. As u all know LM can work wonders, LCW must beware enough.
xsakurax 01-19-2008, 09:36 AM i hope lcw can prove that he can still be the best eventhough without li mao right now..lcw pasti boleh! =X
sumbadder 01-19-2008, 09:43 AM kinda agree with you...just that during HKO 07, the WD final was fantastic, dragged into 3 sets, with both side, zyw/wyl, dj/yy, fight wholeheartedly....exceptional case i guess...

not necessarily, gl/ztt were denied entry into the final by dj/yy in hko so maybe they will be duking it out for real...
robin7 01-19-2008, 10:20 AM Yawn...most ppl took a break when the WD was played during the HK Open Final. I believe the same thing will happen tomorrow :D
Totally agreed with u. U know what, ppl will take a shopping break during WD matches in QF at Malaysia Open 2008. OMG, can u imagine 4 courts are playing WD matches simultaneously?
kutukupret 01-19-2008, 10:34 AM :eek:Actually I'm being serious. WD is like almost always guaranteed. I love watching Gao Ling / Huang Sui v Zhang Jiewen / Yang Wei
watz??? u r absolutely wrong 4 diz...
yez, women china are dominant is right, but once they met each other....huuuuh! really really boring... hope other country players can catch up immed

Let's be fair here when some of you tried to argue your points. According to the sequence of the posts, Armor_tec_14 was clearly talking about WD, in particular WD final here. His post #7 (above middle) was not referring to matches in other depts, so let's not being cared away to other subjects.
"Ppl want inter country comepetions..." as vching put it, but other countries come up short of this expectation. Let's recognize the fact Chn has the best WD pairs and consequently and very often is the only country left in WD final.
I hope ppl don't blame Chn for their own country's failure to reach WD final. Whether Chn only WD final is boring or not, it depends on one's personal preference, perspective, expectation, etc. Everyone is entitled to make his/her own conclusion, to which you have the right to and I respect very much your opinion.
hcpoirot 01-19-2008, 10:47 AM I can't believe how many suprises in Malaysia Open 2007. China, Indonesia and Malaysia did very poorly here in some numbers.
China MS and WS are doing poorly here although at least Lin Dan and Xie Xing fang did not play here. Zhu Lin play very well here. She had the toughest draw but she beat Zhou Mi, WC and WMC to go to final.
Indonesia MS, WD and XD do poorly here. Thanks God we still had the dependable Markis/Hendra.
Malaysia MD also do very poorly. But LCW play very well. He is the fav here. 65 : 35 to win the title.
abedeng 01-19-2008, 10:56 AM You're joking right? When China vs other countries - just from this tournament - who would have thought :
1) Kenderick (Spore) win over Chen Jin
2) KJ(Denmark) win over BCL
3) Korea WS win over Zhang Ning
Well, let me just say that Kendrick has won before against Chen Jin, in S'pore Open last year. Based on his performance, he is not far from top 10, soon. A lot of people forget that Kendrick was world junior runnerup.
Zhang Ning has been troubled by inconsistent performance for the past year. In the last 6 SS tournaments, she was beaten by non-CHN players a total of 5 times - Tine Rasmussen, Pi Hongyan, Wong Mew Choo, Jun Jae Youn & now Hwang Hye Youn.
KJ as we know is the player with the best maintenance of fitness despite his age. Makes other younger players look ridiculous. Then again, this is a Danish specialty.
Anyway, after much dinner and supper with Loh, hcyong, robin7 and spchu, here is my prediction:-
MEN'S SINGLES
Lee Chong Wei [1] vs Lee Hyun Il -- the home boy to prove his worth in his world ranking. Not to mention his ex-coach.
MEN'S DOUBLES
Lars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen vs Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan [2] (MATCH OF THE DAY) -- The Danes have employed a lot of intelligence into their play, beating the likes of WR No 1 and No 3 respectively. It is only logical to pass through No 2, but only after another hard hour long 3 game battle. Slightly less errors would help their cause.
WOMEN'S SINGLES
Zhu Lin [3] vs Tine Rasmussen -- Tine to show LYB how vulnerable his WS squad had become, and reinforce the message of Japan and China Super Series.
WOMEN'S DOUBLES -- as always, a BIG YAWN! But I would love to see CTF's sweetheart win. Wait, make that Gao Ling and her sweet smile. Wait, I can't decide ...... :D
MIXED DOUBLES
He Hanbin/Yu Yang [6] vs Lee Yong Dae/Lee Hyo Jung -- The Koreans deserve a title, as badMania says. But only if LHJ doesn't make too many errors at the net. Otherwise the tomboy YY will teach her a lesson.
badMania 01-19-2008, 11:28 AM MEN'S DOUBLES

It is only logical to pass through No 2, but only after another hard hour long 3 game battle. Slightly less errors would help their cause.
These two pairs are scheduled to meet yet again on Thursday next week, in R16 of Korea Super Series, if both pairs can win their first match on Wednesday.
As mentioned by many ppl, the key is who control the net. Hendra will need to be alert! Another match like the Final of the Chinese-Taipei Open will be something to savour for INA fans, esp the second set where the INA pair was simply at their best with their trickshots and fast-drives!
Erwin Kyoto 01-19-2008, 11:35 AM I dont have record head to head ofLars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen vs Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan...anybody know about it....or the Final match tommorow is the 1st time of their encounter ????

ups...tommorow is the first match of both pairs....
hope my hero MK/HS can win for their 3rd title of SS in row tommorow...
Never thought China already out in two events in the final, MS and MD. It shows how deep China is depending on Lin Dan in MS. And it's also very possible China will lose the WS and XD in the final which lead to only 1 title in SS, will be the first time for this power house.
volcom 01-19-2008, 11:44 AM LHI to surprise LCW IMO :p
robin7 01-19-2008, 11:51 AM MEN'S DOUBLES
Lars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen vs Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan [2] (MATCH OF THE DAY) -- The Danes have employed a lot of intelligence into their play, beating the likes of WR No 1 and No 3 respectively. It is only logical to pass through No 2, but only after another hard hour long 3 game battle. Slightly less errors would help their cause.
It would create history to lift the title by beating world number 1, 2, 3 and 5. If they do, they really well-deserve it.
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:53 AM LHI to surprise LCW IMO :p
That's possible also. LHI's return to form is very timely after a poor season last year. In fact LHI only had one poor game all week, the 1st game in the match against Sony. I was surprised when he turned the tables eventually, probably due to his superior fitness.
GunBlade008 01-19-2008, 12:14 PM JR/LP have already created 3 major upsets, beating KKK/TBH, LWW/CTF and FH/CY. What's one more upset?! :p
abedeng 01-19-2008, 12:16 PM Ok folks, the time is 2:15 am. This is Abedeng, your commentator, who will be reporting live via blackberry device from the venue in the next 11 hours.
To begin, we will start the program with the mixed doubles final match, between the error prone Lee Hyo-Jung/Lee Yong Dae, up against tomboyish Yu Yang and her steady partner, He Hanbin.
Despite their errors, the Koreans had been able to knock out two World Champion pairs in Nathan Robertson/Gail Emms and Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir, and as such, must start as slight favourites for the contest.
JR/LP have already created 3 major upsets, beating KKK/TBH, LWW/CTF and FH/CY. What's one more upset?! :p
I dont mind if they create another Upset.
abedeng 01-19-2008, 12:29 PM Next, we have a mouth watering women's singles match, with Denmark's Tine Rasmussen, the Japan Super Series champion, up against the World Champion, Zhu Lin.of China.
Tine had beaten 3 of Zhu Lin's illustrious teammates on her way to her Japan Open title, and would be anxious to reinforce a message to the CHN coaching camp that no amount of team orders, deception or dirty tactics could stop the CHN women's singles squad from being strongly challenged in the Olympic Games in August.
Zhu Lin, on her part, must retain her title at all costs, in order to please Chief Coach Li Yongbo.
abedeng 01-19-2008, 12:39 PM Later in the program, the match that most BF forummers are waiting for, the men's singles title battle between Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia, up against one of his bogeymen, Lee Hyun-il of Korea.
This is also very much a battle between two coaches, with Misbun Sidek, Malaysian coach, locking horns with Li Mao, former Malaysian and current Korean coach.
abedeng 01-19-2008, 12:46 PM After men's singles, we have the expectedly boring women's doubles match, an all-CHN affair between World Champions Yang Wei and Choong Tan Fook's sweetheart Zhang Jiewen, up against the smiling assassin Gao Ling and her new partner Zhao Tingting.
As this game is expected to be long drawn, it is best that the commentator take this chance to have a lunch break, go to the rest room or take a nap before we come to our final program.
abedeng 01-19-2008, 12:59 PM Our last program is the men's doubles, pitting Denmark's 2003 World Champions Lars Paaske and his BF forummer partner Jonas Rasmussen, doing battle with current World Champion an in-form pair, Hendra Setiawan and Markis Kido of Indonesia.
Paaske/Rasmussen have disposed of World No 1, Koo Kien Kiat/Tan Boon Heong and another World Champion pair, Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng, in their run up to the final. Both matches ran close to one hour and in 3 games.
Setiawan/Kido were no less merciless, destroying completely twice All-England and European winners Jens Eriksen/Martin Lundgaard Hansen and Tony Gunawan/Candra Wijaya, in double quick times. They will be looking for their 3rd successive Super Series title, and a climb to World No 1 ranking.
madbad 01-19-2008, 01:24 PM MEN'S SINGLES
Lee Chong Wei [1] vs Lee Hyun Il - LCW to be dominant. Misbun outmaneuvers Li Mao. Home crowd goes home happy.
MEN'S DOUBLES
Lars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen vs Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan [2] - closer than many can imagine. If JR/LP can play "smart", they can upset the INA stars. Would be nice to see new faces on top of the podium, so I'll call for a JR/LP win.
WOMEN'S SINGLES
Zhu Lin [3] vs Tine Rasmussen - Tine has proven her worth in the last 6 months. She will need to keep ZL on the court as long as possible to capitalize on ZL's suspect stamina. If it goes to a rubber, Tine is my gal.
WOMEN'S DOUBLES - don't give a ****! Just hoping LYB doesn't stick his dirty nose into affairs, but then again...
MIXED DOUBLES
He Hanbin/Yu Yang [6] vs Lee Yong Dae/Lee Hyo Jung - I like the KOR pair but the CHN duo have done very well too. A toss up but it a win by LYD/LHJ will give the tournament winners list a nice international look.
d65up2 01-19-2008, 02:14 PM I dun think Kindra can win tomorrow...But give it a fight boy you can do it!!!
apontoh 01-19-2008, 02:41 PM MEN'S SINGLES
Lee Chong Wei [1] vs Lee Hyun Il - Home favorite to take it in 2 tight games.
MEN'S DOUBLES - Match of the day
Lars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen vs Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan [2] - The increasingly dependable MK/HS should win it in 3 games. LP/JR is a threat though, having beaten KKK/TBH and CY/FHF in earlier rounds. But fatigue can be a factor. if it goes to rubber, the younger & fresher MK/HS should take it. In other words, LP/JR must win the first game.
WOMEN'S SINGLES
Zhu Lin [3] vs Tine Rasmussen - Tine should win this one, and should manage to pull another upset in front of the malaysian crowds (and at LYB's face.)
WOMEN'S DOUBLES - Gao/Zhao vs Du/Yu. Before we talk about team-order, I just wonder which three WD pairs are China planning to send to OG?? It's looking a bit crowded with Zhang/Wei, Zhang/Yang, Gao/Zhao, and Du/Yu. They can only send the top three (provided they're all ranked in the top 4). Whoever wins tomorrow is probably the one who's 'chosen' to be the 3rd pair to go to Beijing. It's entirely possible that both pairs will duke it out, like they did recently (HK SS?). My pick? The cute Gao Ling , of course.
MIXED DOUBLES
He Hanbin/Yu Yang [6] vs Lee Yong Dae/Lee Hyo Jung - This one's a tough one, but my pick goes to the Koreans who've done extremely well so far.
eaglehelang 01-19-2008, 04:38 PM Ok folks, the time is 2:15 am. This is Abedeng, your commentator, who will be reporting live via blackberry device from the venue in the next 11 hours.

yup, abedeng, you do better job than many of the tv commentators
BooYa 01-19-2008, 05:40 PM MS Champion - LCW - he has been quite consistent lately, go CW & may the Boleh spirit be with you ...
MD Champion - JR/RS - We (KKK/TBH) took the Denmark Open'07, so this time we let the Dane to take the Malaysia Open'08 ... share share mah =)
zqloy 01-19-2008, 05:50 PM Im on the danes to take the MD title, man they really played well esp Paaske has found his long lost form. His net anticipation and all those flat jabbings is driving Cai/Fu crazy yesterday.
Xenoy009 01-19-2008, 06:57 PM I like to see these players get the title :p
MD - Lars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen (a bit tough though)
WS - Tine Rasmussen
MD - Lee Yong Dae/Lee Hyo Jung
WD - Gao Ling/Zhao Ting Ting
on MS, full confidence on Lee Chong Wei!!!
robin7 01-19-2008, 07:18 PM WOMEN'S DOUBLES - Gao/Zhao vs Du/Yu. Before we talk about team-order, I just wonder which three WD pairs are China planning to send to OG?? :eek:Friend, it is Gao/Zhao vs Yang/Zhang final lah.
badMania 01-19-2008, 07:53 PM As usual (like the HK Open Final), I am among the few ppl who are betting on Kido/Hendra to take the title :o
However, I think I am not disappointed if the Danes were to beat Kido/Hendra today. They TOTALLY DESERVE this title here in KL!
extremenanopowe 01-19-2008, 07:55 PM I'll root for
LCW
Kido the Chilli padi. - 50-50
pauline 01-19-2008, 08:08 PM I do hope the Danes win for MD,but kindra is so consistent lately.
morphy 01-19-2008, 08:18 PM I like to see these players get the title :p
Mine's almost the same as yours
MD - Lars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen (They're the underdogs again but I pick them because they deserved it. It'll be hard unless the INA pair makes mistakes)
WS - Tine Rasmussen
XD - Lee Yong Dae/Lee Hyo Jung
WD - Ling Gao/ZHang TingTing
MS Lee Chong Wei this guy is combination of class act + mad skillz

wilfredlgf 01-19-2008, 10:05 PM [quote=badMania;770251]MEN'S SINGLES
Lee Chong Wei [1] vs Lee Hyun Il -- no question about who am supporting in this match
MEN'S DOUBLES
Lars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen vs Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan [2] -- since none of the Malaysians are in the finals, I'd like Lars and Jonas to win it to slow the Indons down a little...
WOMEN'S SINGLES
Zhu Lin [3] vs Tine Rasmussen -- and since it's a vs China game, go Tine!
WOMEN'S DOUBLES -- are we there yet?
MIXED DOUBLES
He Hanbin/Yu Yang [6] vs Lee Yong Dae/Lee Hyo Jung -- as with women's singles, go LYD/LHJ!
Contactjj 01-19-2008, 10:10 PM yup, abedeng, you do better job than many of the tv commentators
He is thorough and covers highlights well. Unfortunately, he is very biased in choosing words.
samuel882 01-19-2008, 10:14 PM Noticed that many BCers prediction went out in smoke lately, probably "jinx" the respective players :p
Hows about this
XD : HHB/YY
MS : Lee HI
WS: ZL
WD:YW/ZJW
MD : MK/HS
;)
samuel882 01-19-2008, 10:15 PM He is thorough and covers highlights well. Unfortunately, he is very biased in choosing words.
Couldn't be agreed more on that ;)

Ok...But make sure don't make the security guard chase you out from the stadium..:D
X Ball 01-19-2008, 10:30 PM Lee Hyun Ill will not be spared today - he will not withstand the attacking game of LCW.
I predict a 21-15, 21-18 outcome in favour of LCW.
abedeng 01-19-2008, 10:33 PM Ok guys, we are about 1 hour away from the 1st flick serve, and my blackberry battery is registering 95%.
Not many people here yet, most of them are converging at the new Proton model outside the stadium.
Having lunch now before I pre-select my customary vantage point.

Appreciate your reporting yesterday. Just wondering how can you type so fast, very incredible :)
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:03 PM 30 mins before showdown and sales of YY tshirts are doing well. New procedures are placed at exit and reentry, need to have your tickets stamped. A few were caught on bogus tickets.
Meanwhile, the 2 XD pairs start their preliminary warmup, while I wrest my vantage point seat from the feet of one guy. Directly on top of Hasbullah Awang's seating position just behind the TV cams.
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:09 PM Appreciate your reporting yesterday. Just wondering how can you type so fast, very incredible :)
All that typing comes at a cost, you know. Like losing sight of a few incredible rallies and shots. Unlike TV viewers, I don't get benefit from replays.
But wait a minute, yes I do. I'm sitting on top of the commentator, and could see from his reference TV set. But not at the best viewing angle.
shyeling 01-19-2008, 11:12 PM Lee Hyun Ill will not be spared today - he will not withstand the attacking game of LCW.

abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:13 PM LYD pressed into national service aka shuttle testing. YY practising her short serves. HH is having his right knee plastered and both ankles strapped.
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:14 PM Oh, and Ants is having lunch. This is really a nice position to be stalking someone.

the procedure on exit and reentry alr applied during world championship la..:)
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:17 PM Ants have become Mr two-hundred plus, taking two cups of 100 plus drink and drinking both, almost like twobeer with his two beer cans.
Birdwood 01-19-2008, 11:19 PM How many ppl in stadium now? Same as yesterday? If there're live TV, would it be fewer ppl in audience?
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:21 PM Procedures not applied at Malaysian Open until today, I barked on the door official to be consistent.
Chen Xindong placing his video recorder tripod to catch all the XD action for analysis.
Full and content (burp), Ants is back at his seat.
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:26 PM LYD/LHJ escorted to a corner before which they will make a grand entry.
Stadium is filling, but still not expected to have full house. MAS folks are becoming more practical and less enthusiastic at spending money to support their athletes.
Courts officials are coming in with some fanfare and noise.
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:28 PM Announcing the arrival of HH/YY.
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:29 PM Followed by LYD/LHJ, no prizes for guessing who got the better reception from the crowd.
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:31 PM Datuk Nadzmi, BAM President, takes his seat at the VIP arena.
Official warmup begins, no sign of RTM commentator yet.
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:33 PM LHJ to serve, love all, play.
samuel882 01-19-2008, 11:35 PM kinda nervous start by both pairs
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:35 PM YY interception failed but HH does good placement smash.
LYD uses his power smash, then commits service error.
samuel882 01-19-2008, 11:36 PM not a promising start as both the gals were prone to errors
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:37 PM Sideline floater from YY, LHJ misses clean interception.
HH's smash angle is good.
Birdwood 01-19-2008, 11:37 PM not a promising start as both the gals were prone to errors
Are you live there as well?
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:38 PM Good CHN defence undone by drift.
samuel882 01-19-2008, 11:39 PM Are you live there as well?
nope.. Watching live From Phuket Island Int. TV ;)
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:40 PM HH has good potential, angled placements are working well. LYD counters with outright power.
LHJ makes unnecessary net error.
samuel882 01-19-2008, 11:41 PM Quite a suprise finalist with all 5 events having an unseeded players each.
Starting with this Korean Pairs
samuel882 01-19-2008, 11:42 PM The Drift in this stadium is more worst than the one in GuangZhou
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:43 PM KOREA! POM POM!!!
KOREA! POM POM!!!
Shouts from the crowd gives them momentum to level score, LHJ makes another error to go behind 10-11 at the break.
Birdwood 01-19-2008, 11:44 PM Quite a suprise finalist with all 5 events having an unseeded players each.
Starting with this Korean Pairs
What do you mean? They defeated No. 2 seed in QF and No. 5 in SF
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:45 PM LYD tries backhand fast drive, failed. Then uses baseline push, works.
Service fault on KOR.
samuel882 01-19-2008, 11:45 PM The Korean is unseeded here after KBA reinforce and make some pairing changes in their XD department
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:47 PM Worst drift is in the old Stadium Negara.
CHN defence crumble under hard pressure.
samuel882 01-19-2008, 11:47 PM LEe HJ playing with more consistent compare with SF yesterday
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:48 PM LHJ good net placement after YY was forced back.
LYD makes sideline error.
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:49 PM 3 straight KOR errors give CHN breathing space.
Make that 4.
samuel882 01-19-2008, 11:50 PM The Chinese playing a patient games right now , get 2 consecutive pts from their serve
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:50 PM Amazing! KOR discipline is broken, 6 gamrpts.
Converted on 1st attempt.
samuel882 01-19-2008, 11:51 PM Lee YD not at his best today
samuel882 01-19-2008, 11:51 PM Consistency is the key, it will be hard for the Korean to break The Chinese
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:52 PM KOR is nervous, perhaps. LYD is not playing to potential, like TBH and FHF.
samuel882 01-19-2008, 11:52 PM Excellent play so far by HHB
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:53 PM YY gains lucky net shot, 2-0.
Balanced by HH error, 1-2
Which he redeems, 3-1
samuel882 01-19-2008, 11:55 PM The Chinese defense is great today, while the Korean defense easily to cracked.
no broadcast on TV1... will have to rely on you guys to do forumcasting.
carine 01-19-2008, 11:56 PM CHN mixed double is still leading
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:56 PM KOR must employ fast drives to force CHN to lift, instead HHB fast drive forces LHJ mistake.
ctjcad 01-19-2008, 11:57 PM Yawn...most ppl took a break when the WD was played during the HK Open Final. I believe the same thing will happen tomorrow :D
Totally agreed with u. U know what, ppl will take a shopping break during WD matches in QF at Malaysia Open 2008. OMG, can u imagine 4 courts are playing WD matches simultaneously?
As this game is expected to be long drawn, it is best that the commentator take this chance to have a lunch break, go to the rest room or take a nap before we come to our final program.
:p...imagine if this were to happen on the Finals day:
XD - INA vs. INA
WS - CHN vs. CHN
MS - DEN vs. DEN
WD - CHN vs. CHN
MD - MAS vs. MAS
..all events feature compatriots from the same country...will anyone yawn, sleep, take a break, have a lunch break, go to rest room or go shopping???.. ;)
samuel882 01-19-2008, 11:57 PM Twice instance HHB were confused by the drift and let the Korean gain 2 pts
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:58 PM HHB makes 2 rare errors, confused with drift.
But this time drift is on his side, KOR placement is wide followed by net error.
abedeng 01-19-2008, 11:59 PM HHB smash floats, trying to maintain pressure.
samuel882 01-20-2008, 12:00 AM once again LYD return the shuttle in to net at 7-10
carine 01-20-2008, 12:00 AM CHN mixed double leading 11-7
abedeng 01-20-2008, 12:00 AM CHN up 4 at the break, YY quick reflexes confuses LHJ.
samuel882 01-20-2008, 12:01 AM Chinese Looking good in all aspects at the moment

badminto_expert 01-20-2008, 12:04 AM China XD will win straight set
CHN resort to power game now, 15-7 up.
KOR can't control the drift.
quite disappointed with this Korean pair especially Hyo Jung, she has all the skill and talent of the great player but doesn't seem know how to use them. Also she seems lack of desire to win on court for whatever reason.
samuel882 01-20-2008, 12:04 AM 10-15.. Its now or never for the KOREAN
abedeng 01-20-2008, 12:05 AM HHB pulled out of position, then a sideline error.

carine 01-20-2008, 12:05 AM CHN mixed double leading 17-10

abedeng 01-20-2008, 12:08 AM HHB smash looked like hitting LYD before going out, but call goes to KOR. CHN protest.

abedeng 01-20-2008, 12:09 AM 7 CHN matchpts from KOR clear out.
1st one saved by LHJ.
samuel882 01-20-2008, 12:09 AM quite disappointed with this Korean pair especially Hyo Jung, she has all the skill and talent of the great player but doesn't seem know how to use them. Also she seems lack of desire to win on court for whatever reason.
Korean doesn't have any reliable Womens doubles players since Ray Kwung Min retired :crying:
badminto_expert 01-20-2008, 12:10 AM Korea tewas. China won....hhaa 21-15
7 CHN matchpts from KOR clear out.
1st one saved by LHJ.
samuel882 01-20-2008, 12:10 AM One more pts and that's it for Chn
carine 01-20-2008, 12:10 AM CHN team won it
sumbadder 01-20-2008, 12:10 AM match over. 21-15. that was seriously a final?
abedeng 01-20-2008, 12:10 AM 2nd gamept saved, CHN use gamesmanship to break KOR rhythm
Worked too!!
CHN win 21-14,21-15.
awesome.
He Hanbin/Yu Yang beat Lee Yong Dae / Lee Hyo Jung. 21-15 / 21-14.
at least from what i can tell from the last few points, it was quite convincing.
samuel882 01-20-2008, 12:12 AM I think ppl will only be interested to watch their own country men or women play
Thats so true, do we read such posts when Koo/Tan against Choong Lee and/or MK/HS against Tony/Chandra (half INA)
susy_forever 01-20-2008, 12:15 AM i wish i have two Tv right now. i want to see Tine rasmussen!
i want to watch Serena Williams also :help:
abedeng 01-20-2008, 12:17 AM Yes, the CHN pair were convincing. YY was very stable and fast at the net. HHB lacks LYD's power but found all the right angles.
LYD's form was disappointing, couldn't manage the drift. The thing is, it's the same court they played in yesterday. LHJ was just being LHJ.
badminto_expert 01-20-2008, 12:17 AM LYB said: China will take 5 golds for individual from Badminton in Olympic Championship in Beijing.
I don't thing China can take 5 Golds.. Max can take 3 golds. and hope lin dan lost again....hhaaa
ye333 01-20-2008, 12:19 AM I have the impression that LYD is not really appropriate for playing XD. He is not good at moving opponents around. In the last few points, he gave YY too many chances at the net.
Birdwood 01-20-2008, 12:19 AM i wish i have two Tv right now. i want to see Tine rasmussen!

damn..this streaming stopped showing broadcast on my PC not...:crying:...maybe it need registered???
samuel882 01-20-2008, 12:21 AM It will be tough for the towering Tines to stop the on form ZL
abedeng 01-20-2008, 12:22 AM Officials from Tine Rasmussen vs Zhu Lin are presented.
Zhu Lin gets a good reception from the crowd, today in her world championship winning pink/black kit. Maybe it can bring her luck.
Tine is in her imposing all black attire.
ctjcad 01-20-2008, 12:22 AM quite disappointed with this Korean pair especially Hyo Jung, she has all the skill and talent of the great player but doesn't seem know how to use them. Also she seems lack of desire to win on court for whatever reason.
Korean doesn't have any reliable Womens doubles players since Ray Kwung Min retired :crying:
..maybe it's because she hasn't had a reliable male partner to play with, ala someone like KDM??...or maybe the chemistry hasn't been there; also, i'm not sure how many partners has she had during her XD career??..
i wish i have two Tv right now. i want to see Tine rasmussen!
i want to watch Serena Williams also :help:

Birdwood 01-20-2008, 12:23 AM I have the impression that LYD is not really appropriate for playing XD. He is not good at moving opponents around. In the last few points, he gave YY too many chances at the net.
Maybe the Koren pair is also inexperienced compared to Chn one
Fuji_ 01-20-2008, 12:23 AM damn..this streaming stopped showing broadcast on my PC not...:crying:...maybe it need registered???
Hi there,
Mine is still OK.
It happened to me yesterday too. Just wait a few moments and start it again. Good luck.
abedeng 01-20-2008, 12:24 AM Terry is sitting down, probably tired after lugging all that heavy camera equipment.
Ants is also looking sleepy and tired, probably from all that lunch.
abedeng 01-20-2008, 12:26 AM Tine to serve, love all, play.
abedeng 01-20-2008, 12:27 AM Tine's smash is wide, that was a good chance.
ZL makes error at the net.
susy_forever 01-20-2008, 12:28 AM Tine lead 4-2, good attack by tine
sumbadder 01-20-2008, 12:28 AM does tine rasmussen actually look like amelie mauresmo or is it just the bad quality of the streaming video?
abedeng 01-20-2008, 12:29 AM ZL's drop is wide, followed by accurate TR smash.
ZL shows she could smash too.
did the TV1 commentator just called Tine "Camilla Martin"?
susy_forever 01-20-2008, 12:29 AM Tine look very confident!
samuel882 01-20-2008, 12:29 AM Tine Playes with pretty high confidence
abedeng 01-20-2008, 12:31 AM Tine's deception is great, then ZL made error at the net.
3 pt lead now for Tine.
ctjcad 01-20-2008, 12:32 AM did the TV1 commentator just called Tine "Camilla Martin"?
..Hasbullah mentioned Camilla's name, as a comparison to Tine, as Denmark's other legendary WS player..
Tine's taking advantage of her lanky physique..long steps..long reach..
wilfredlgf 01-20-2008, 12:32 AM How can you watch both matches even if you have two TV :rolleyes:"It's a trap!"
http://www.pop-arena.com/articles/akbar/akbar6.jpg
abedeng 01-20-2008, 12:32 AM Tine's lead reduced by drift, before the unleashes a crosscourt smash.
susy_forever 01-20-2008, 12:32 AM Tine sent the shuttle out....8-7
samuel882 01-20-2008, 12:32 AM Tine often hitting the shuttle hard and send it wide
abedeng 01-20-2008, 12:33 AM ZL shows her superior netplay, Tine counters with superior smash.
Tine got ZL twice in a service return cross court smash
samuel882 01-20-2008, 12:34 AM ZL defense was not impressive
ctjcad 01-20-2008, 12:34 AM Tine's deception is great, then ZL made error at the net.
3 pt lead now for Tine.
..yes...ZL was caught flat-footed on some of the shots..
Hasbullah also mentioned that both players are playing at a slower tempo...
Tjun Tjun 01-20-2008, 12:34 AM did the TV1 commentator just called Tine "Camilla Martin"?
Not surprising as the Malaysian commentator is well known for mixing the names of players and also not knowing how to pronounce their names even local ones.
susy_forever 01-20-2008, 12:34 AM wrong decision by Zhu lin, tine lead 10-8
carine 01-20-2008, 12:34 AM Tine leading 11-8
ZL quality at the net is better. where as Tine has better placed smash and drop.
abedeng 01-20-2008, 12:35 AM ZL misjudgement at baseline, followed by net error, gifts Tine 3 pt lead at the break.
Hasbullah is talking animatedly, describing the action.
susy_forever 01-20-2008, 12:35 AM so, zhang Ning is become china team coach?
so, zhang Ning is become china team coach?
she has been playing double duty coach + player for a while now.
apontoh 01-20-2008, 12:36 AM ZL doesn't look very comfortable...seems like she's a bit nervous.
abedeng 01-20-2008, 12:36 AM Again, the drift is helping ZL bridge the gap.
sumbadder 01-20-2008, 12:36 AM so, zhang Ning is become china team coach?
no chn has been sending in players and official coaches to coach games for a while now.
carine 01-20-2008, 12:38 AM 13 all now.....
Birdwood 01-20-2008, 12:38 AM so, zhang Ning is become china team coach?
I think that's the case and she won't be playing OG 08 as a player (My personal opinion)
abedeng 01-20-2008, 12:38 AM ZL looking a bit slow today. But she ups the pace and force Tine to send the shuttle wide.
carine 01-20-2008, 12:38 AM ZL leading 14-13
Birdwood 01-20-2008, 12:38 AM streaming died. :(
same here :crying:
abedeng 01-20-2008, 12:40 AM Long rally ends with Tine's error at the net.
The crowd is restless.
ZL fails to land a sideline placement.

abedeng 01-20-2008, 12:41 AM Tine does good placement to the body, ZL calls timeout.
samuel882 01-20-2008, 12:41 AM wonderful rally end with a bang by Tine at 15-16
carine 01-20-2008, 12:42 AM 16 all now.....

sumbadder 01-20-2008, 12:42 AM wow crowd is getting into it.
nice interception by ZL 17-16
