chris@ccc wants his presence know in all corners of BC universe.
Saw only one Chn player for Qualification round, but a large number of Msia players are in, especially for MD and WD, don't know why?

..as he's, literally, BC's main source from Korea, all this while...And he'll most likely help out again at this week's Korea Open. Last yr, if not mistaken, he helped out as the MC or Tournament announcer..;)
carine 01-21-2008, 06:54 PM the Korea time same with MAS or not?
Weinhyz 01-21-2008, 08:03 PM the Korea time same with MAS or not?
They are one hour ahead of Malaysian time (i.e. GMT + 9).
badMania 01-21-2008, 08:34 PM Look's like they have done some redraws for the qualifying rounds?
Lita Nurlita/Nitya Krishinda now get a free passage to the main draw. Originally, they were supposed to play Woon Khee Wei/Ng Hui Lin and then Fong Chew Yen/Mooi Hing Yau (again) for a ticket to the main draw. Unfortunately, they will face Lee Kyung Won/Lee Hyo Jung in R32...so...an early exit for them yet again it appears
badMania 01-21-2008, 08:38 PM Adriyanti Firdasari will now replace Maria Kristin's place in the main draw, facing Hirayama Yu in R32. Hmm...I think many players will be going back home to Jakarta as early as Thursday/Friday.
Potential early exits in R32:
Adriyanti Firdasari (WS)
Hendra A. Gunawan/Joko Riyadi (MD)
Lita Nurlita/Nitya Krishinda (WD)
either Rani Mundiasti/Endang Nursugianti or Jo Novita/Greysia Polii
Devin Lahardi/Lita Nurlita
Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir (facing Lee Hyo Jung/Lee Yong Dae again)

Winning a title in Malaysia is enough for me :D
I think most of the players still look jaded, except for Kido/Hendra of course. But then again, facing the home favorite Jung Jae Sung/Lee Yong Dae in the SF, I think Kido/Hendra will lose for the first time in 2 mths. Good for them to experience some defeat as well, before the all important All-England campaign coming up in March. They are likely to be the top-seed again in Birmingham.
spchu 01-21-2008, 09:05 PM Kuan BH was so impressive in the 1st set....but now looks like he may take the next plane home out from Korea if he doesnt buck up in the rubber set.
Jessica 01-21-2008, 09:10 PM Sigh...I have no more hope on this Kuan Beng Hong..Hope he will at least seal to the main draw.
eaglehelang 01-21-2008, 09:14 PM Actually been wondering for some time why KBH is still with national squad. The MD players are better, also they leave (yeah, yeah, too many MD pairs).
KBH? Yup, Jessica, hope he make to main draw.

KBH? Yup, Jessica, hope he make to main draw.
I still remember Kuan Beng Hong was once to be highly regarded as LCW succesor but after his defeat in the Thomas Cup as third single to Denmark causes the painful exit of Malaysia squad in the semis,he become like this until now.Btw,how old are Kuan???
chris-ccc 01-21-2008, 09:21 PM .
2 better known names are already OUT.
1. Jeanine Cicognini lost to Anita Raj Kaur (MAS) 18-21, 17-21
2. Chamaine Reid lost to Eva Lee (MAS) 20-22, 20-22 (What a match)
.
eaglehelang 01-21-2008, 09:24 PM oh, no! KBH lost to the Korean guy. Another dent to his self-confidence. KBH should be 24, I remember he's 1 year younger than LCW. Yeah, some said after the Thomas Cup lost, he never regain his confidence. <Sigh> Poor KBH.
But he did quite well in Copenhagen, beat Wacha.
TCS, Arif now are the 'next generation' to succeed LCW.
Chrisccc - Eva Lee is from US, the flag looks similar, but Msia one got cresent moon lah.
Jessica 01-21-2008, 09:31 PM Come on...I hope our world junior mixed double champion will win.
chris-ccc 01-21-2008, 09:33 PM Sigh...I have no more hope on this Kuan Beng Hong......
.
Jessica, KBH did fight to the last point... only losing to Jang Young Soo (KOR) 21-9, 19-21, 20-22.
So close in their third game.:mad::mad:

Sorry eaglehelang, with some excitement, I have misquoted. :o:o:o
Indeed, Eva Lee, partner of Howard Bach in the XD, is from the USA.

volcom 01-21-2008, 09:45 PM Kuan Beng Hong is a very good player, too bad he is so mentally fragile... His play style is good to watch

.
chris-ccc 01-21-2008, 10:35 PM .
Great isn't it ???...... After 10 matches played so far, 5 matches have games reaching scores@20-20.:cool::cool:

tjl_vanguard 01-21-2008, 10:42 PM hmm.. sayonara lydia.. she's coming home early for sure! :(

chris-ccc 01-21-2008, 11:11 PM hmm.. sayonara lydia.. she's coming home early for sure! :(
.
Well... Lydia Cheah lost to Susan Hughes 12-21, 13-21.
But, that's not a shame... I have met and seen Susan's play/skills here in Melbourne@Commonwealth Games 2006.
Susan has good abilities and skills. :):):)
.
chris-ccc 01-21-2008, 11:17 PM did koo-tan really withdrawed?

.
No... KKK/TBH did not withdraw. They did not intend to play @KO 2008 (the decision was made weeks ago).
.

Hey huangkwokhau...... Hope you are feeling better now. :):):)
From all the people who was in your group, watching the MO 2008 and attending dinners together, ALL GOT SICK with bad flu.
Perhaps it was the MALAYSIAN FLU. :D:D:D
Take Care.
.
x50926x 01-21-2008, 11:41 PM Aww, Anu Nieminen lost. Thought she might have gotten some inspiration from her husband...:(:o

Still coughing big time....did not go to work today..just resting.....I guess travelling from Las Vegas to KL took a lot of my energy to get there....:D:D
CLELY 01-21-2008, 11:43 PM From match overview, there're two home shuttlers that have almost similar name JANG Young Soo (MS) and JANG Soo Young (WS). The difference is only their given name arrangement.
CLELY 01-21-2008, 11:54 PM KOR WS is so powerful at this round as they will fight to grab 4 main draw tickets! One interesting MS qualification match, Lu Yi vs Athens Silver medalist Shon Seung Mo to bag one ticket for tomorrow first round...
chris-ccc 01-22-2008, 12:13 AM .
What a surprise that Xing Aiying got beaten by Lee Hyun Jin (KOR) 21-16, 19-21, 12-21.
Our Loh would be most disappointed. :o
.
jimbo 01-22-2008, 12:43 AM Beg your pardon, KBH had to play in qualifying rounds yet he lost? oh no.... ;)

madbad 01-22-2008, 01:02 AM Aww, Anu Nieminen lost. Thought she might have gotten some inspiration from her husband...:(:o
I was watching the Niemenen v Nadal match in the Aussie Open and the commentator mentioned that the Niemenens lived in Copenhagen because Jarkko's wife was a high level badminton player and needed to live there to train.
Well, too bad both Niemenens have been shown the door in their respective tournaments.
spchu 01-22-2008, 01:16 AM Lim Kim Wah and Ng Hui Lin won the 1st set easily and yet lost easily in the 2nd set, hope they dont go the route of KBH.
Go Malaysia....
spchu 01-22-2008, 01:27 AM so sad our mixed doubles lost too.....
Jessica 01-22-2008, 01:28 AM Sigh...LKW/NHL lost to the same Korea pair again after last week defeat to them in Malaysia Open. They did not grab the chance when they lead with 21-10 in the first game.

You wouldnt be saying that if it's Indonesian players.:(.
And not all can go back yet, Wee Kiong is playing XD with Woon, they'll still be around. Lim/Ng need the OG points to make it to top 16, again like MO, failed to get in, hope they do better next rd.
george@chongwei 01-22-2008, 05:54 AM omg, kuan beng hong lost in the 1st round of the qualifying round??
gosh..

KBH got beaten by Jang Young Soo (KOR) 9-21, 21-19, 20-22 (ouch ).
.
If in am not mistaken, JYS was in Korean Thomas Cup Team before, not sure which year. He may be the senior in Korean.
But, Korean got some similiar names in their players.
samuel882 01-22-2008, 08:27 AM A poor start by MAS contigent in Korea :o
Not surprise to many as all the players lost today were just juniors with the exception of hopeless KBH.
Hoon Thien How/Wee Kiong doesn't looks like a better mix and match combination, both are lack of heights & power :(
Credits must be given to BAM as they started to send more juniors for oversea majot events. (SS). :)

Oh, I missed her name in the draw. Thought she did not enter, but yes, I'm most disappointed to say the least!
Well, it really took her a long time to get adjusted and yet she is still lagging behind! Wonder when will she wake up?

Thanks. Kendrick needs it against the last Olympic Games bronze medalist (I think). It is a heavy responsibility but I'm sure Kendrick will do his best. And if Kendrick succeeds, I'm afraid not a few BC members will be unhappy because they will lose big points on their PAWs!

SSM got Silver actually and his forms seems to bounce back quite a bit recently, so good luck with your PAW. :p
chris-ccc 01-22-2008, 08:44 PM .
In Day 1 (Qualifying Rounds), SSM took only 29 minutes to defeat Lu Yi (top seed qualifier from China) with a score of 21-17, 21-9.
