A small group of BC members met for a photo session at the entrance to stadium and ayu and I later joined the Malaysian Cheer Team with their star cheerleader.

Unfortunately we did not take pics of our Saturday night satay party and thereafter refreshments at Old Town coffee shop (originated in Ipoh) at Subang with abedeng and robin7.

Can you identify who we are? :D

..Loh!!;) Too bad there weren't any pics of the get-together..:(
Anyway, to ID the people, let me take a shot at guessing the names:
(from left to right in 1st pic): ???, hcyong, spchu, and of course Loh...:):D:cool:
Which one is ayu??..is she the one in the 2nd pic, standing 2nd from right??..

yes you are correct.

hcyong seems to have become more "prosperous" since the last time we met :D

Loh, nice pics!

Chris, great guess! :) As confirmed by Sealman. ;)

May I introduce our dear guest anonymous, rwchen, more familiar with those who play PAWs. Rw is the sister of the other older brother Chen who gave us a good run for our money in one of the PAWs. Brother and sister colluded to give us a hammering! :(

Rw is a college mate of both hcyong and spchu and she is currently working in Malacca but took the trouble to drive up to KL for this special tournament won again by LCW. Unfortunately rw didn't join us in the final. Hopefully she managed to see the action on TV.

It seems brother Chen is in Penang and obviously he is a bit too far (and maybe too busy with work) to come down to KL. But we came up from Singapore for the action! :D

No chance of meeting the others, especially ants, terry, hau-ge and fastdrop. :( Ants in particurlar was too preoccupped with taking close-ups of the professionals in action on the courts and maybe the Japanese ladies were a bit too difficult to get away from! Hau-ge might have to entertain the Indonesian contingent as well.

There was some friendly rivalry between the Malaysian and Indonesian cheerleaders on the aisle in front of us. Both were trying their best to jostle for position to catch the attention of the media, the audience and the players.

It would appear that our Indonesian cheerleader was not at all intimidated on foreign soil and he seemed to get the better of the goings-on! He scored points for his decoration, a beautiful baju with a decorated songkok and a string of feather shuttlecocks round his neck. Best of all, he danced his ronggeng tastefully with coordinated relaxed fingers and in tune with the music! :D

i sat next to the indonesian cheerleader and found him quite amusing. However, he was very agressive and intimidating at times.

Thanks Loh for the picture. It was great experience watching the matches live with both my ex-college mates, hcyong , spchu and Loh. It was nice to meet abedeng and Robin7 for the first time too. They are all badminton fanatics!! I watch life TV broadcast at home on the final day and I should have caught those wonderful actions live in the stadium.
Too bad, my younger brother, ycchen was occupied with work and could not make it this time.

Hi rwchen, I thought you wouldn't want to miss the finals on TV. Sorry to have mistaken ycchen as your elder brother. Hope to meet up with him and you at the next opportunity! :)

My goodness! Mr Twobeer I presume? We've met! So I caught you on camera!

I talked to you too without knowing your identity! Remember, during the semi finals, the guy behind you tapped on your shoulder and asked whether Tine and Jonas were related? I thought you're Danish!

That's me and coincidently, I caught you in action many times with my camera as you are in my path when I took pot shots at the cheerleaders. :);):D

Oh yes, you're right. Pardon me, hahaha. :D I missed the red markings initially. Must have thought it was part of the background.

Unfortunately I did not catch a glimpse of Two beer as he was seated right in front, otherwise I would have conveyed a huge hello.

BTW, the Old Town (?) coffee at Subang was very good. Robin told us the franchise originates from Ipoh. Have you tried it? We missed you too.:)

yeah, old town coffee originated from ipoh. i am not really a coffee lover. drinking coffee makes me drowsy. hahahah. more an ice water girl. :D but yeah i have tried old town coffee. i wish i could have made it. the last time no malaysian won. this time LCW won. it would have been so cool to be at the stadium. and the tickets were cheaper too this time around. i guess fate have different plan for me. was thinking of what you guys were up to while i was watching it on tv. tried very hard to spot your faces when the camera pans to the audience. hahahaha.

Not exactly behind Hasbullah, right on top of Hasbullah. I can hear his running commentary while I was doing mine, even with that noise ..... best seat of the house too, better than VIP or the so called premium seats. The Astro commentator was seated further in front just in front of the cams, but that guy was too excitable. Good thing Ian Wright provided some balance in some of the commentaries.

Twobeer, would have been happy to let you join us on semis night for coffee. Yup, after beers, u need coffee ....... :D

I didn't dare to join Hauge, what with his bad flu and all. Only got to speak to him the next day after the finals, that guy should be in hospital bed or resting at home.

i was wondering abedeng, is your place a normal seating or did you find the spot by sheer luck and decided to stay there? if it is normal seating, what number is it? i would say it must have been a good position since you managed to stalk everyone, hehehehe. like a spy on a mission. :D

I like the Malaysian Cheer Team Star Leader. As I have never attend any SS live,I can only see him in TV. I am hoping one day I can meet him in person. I love his ways when M'sian player are in court and winning points. He is such a character. He is my Idol. In the MO 2008 MS final when LCW win the title, we can see him going into the court maybe to hug LCW or what but was stopped by the court officials. I hope the TV will show more of his amusing style in future. Ihave never came across such a great fan

What! Just because I happen to be commentating via technology for the 1st time last week, you said I found the seat by sheer luck .... :p

Been my seat for past 8 years, since Thomas Cup 2000, except the World Championships last year when I made the mistake of purchasing premium seats. Most guys and gals aren't aware that this position gives better angles courtside. Can see everything from all 4 courts without moving. Only problem is you have to be early to pick the place, sometimes have to play tough guy and push people's feet from your chair.

fifteen luv, the guy has been at it 20+ years. 20 years ago you could have been part of the cheerleading squad too, in Stadium Negara during the Thomas Cup. We made more noises than the pom poms and air horns. Not to mention maybe about 6 inches more lift on a young Cheah Soon Kit's jumping smashes.

Did you see him when he was all serious?

He would take a deeeeep breath, close his eyes, shake his bald head a little, then he will bow his head in deeeeep concentration, mumble a few 'sacred or secret' words and also jointly shaking his hands (and fingers) a little, like gesturing to the crowd! :D;):)

Yes, sometime I saw him doing something like a bomoh is doing. He also shake his head greatly if the M'sian player playingmake a silly mistake. Of so many sports telecast, I have never come across such a great supporter as him.
