In China, LD complained about the line calls been "not helping" the local players. So towards the later stages, many foreign players (esp LCW) complained. China has always complained about Korea in this aspect.
How can badminton remain popular and how can we support when biased calls almost blatantly happen? This does not augur well for the sport.

To the umpire's credit, all bad line calls were overruled. The call that made LD angry was not overruled, it was ruled correct. Looked like it clipped the line on the outside, and definitely not blatant like those other overrules.
But by that time, LD had np confidence in line judges already.
Imagine if those bad corrected calls did not happen, maybe he would not have overreacted.

LD didn't direct the linesmen in China. The players are the one who suffers. Both winner and the loser.
Yup exactly, not Lin Dan's fault! And yeah they both suffer. The eventual winner gets less of a feeling of achievement as they know that part of their win was attributed to bad calls. And the eventual loser? Well of course they lose! And feel cheated. Not good for anyone in the end. And those that MADE the bad calls especially. Makes them look really bad, and they deserve it!

01-27-2008, 02:50 AM
I've seen the match. The Korean SBS showed the last disputable line call twice. It could be interpreted in both ways, in or out.
Every bad call (three times) were corrected by the umpire, and it's good. Bad calls had an negtive effect on LHI because he was not sure during the whole match if the shuttle cock is in or out and as consequence didn't return a couple of times. It also affected LHI in decisive moments when he had to finish with a smash and aim the lines.
This was a match which clearly showed that bad line calls can affect not only the opponent, but also the favoured player. Last but not least, Badminton should be a sport in which every player and fan could agree with the results however the match ends.

Like that, our LCW quite cool already, added by Misbun's calmness.

Wathched the match and im sad to say that this is not the first time we see this in Korea. We have already heard from some players that they are skipping Korea Open due to these bad linecalls and that shows what this sport at the moment is lacking, professionality. What is more tragic is that the camera angle is also very subjective so it only shows the points where the shuttle is in/out in favor of the koreans. This have been seen in other countries too and with such unproffesional host countries, it doenst look like badminton has a bright future.
george@chongwei

I am refering to the one which the the coach and the players start to push each other..This incident goes like this. When LHI hit the shuttle out,the linesman actually call in and Lin Dan of course feel very furious. He shouted and went to complain to the umpire. The umpire then change the score in favour to Lin Dan.We though this is the end but Li Mao suddenly very angry and the fight started.

I know both players personally, Lin Dan and Lee Hyun-Il.
Calmness of LHI brought him the victory.
After the disputable line call, Lin Dan was really in a rage, and Li Mao, a Chinese ironically, contributed to it the most, just by his presence.
In the very moment Lin Dan threw his raquet towards Li Mao, the mental side of Lin Dan was no more under control. I guess Li Mao kept shouting Lin Dan's weak points in order to give LHI an advice. It must have been really annoying for Super Dan. I will ask both at German Open.
My Guess: Super Dan even learned how important it can be to stay calm. He is my bet on the gold medal in Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

It really doesn't matter what equipment you use, hawk eye, night goggle vision, ... if someone really want to cheat, he/she will find a way. I recall the China Open 2007 didn't even border to replay the controversy calls. Is the organizer, not lack of equipment.

Taufik is smart to give this Korea Open a miss. He was the victim so many times, for example: Asian Games 2002 in Busan (team event match against Lee Hyun Il too if I am not wrong).
To a certain extent, Lee Chong Wei also decided wisely to quit the match when he was not feeling well. Imagine what will happen if the third set was as close and intense as today's match?

Meanwhile, the tomboys Du Jing/Yu Yang have won another crown here in Seoul, beating Gao Ling/Zhao Tingting in straight sets 21-15, 21-13.

In fact, pigs are some of the cleanest animals around, refusing to excrete anywhere near their living or eating areas when given a choice.
from: http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/pigs/smart.html
Human mothers may be mystified to realize that pigs are one of the cleanest animals on earth; despite the fact mothers have compared their child's messy bedrooms to a pigpen for generations.
Pigs defecate in the same place, far from their social and sleep areas, but have no natural cooling systems, so are forced to roll in mud for sun protection during summer months.
"They don't like being dirty if they don't have to." explained Woods.

Better than the first set, but, its still not enough to match Fu/Cai in terms of speed and service.

this match is done for Cai- Fu no hopelah for Indo. As we says Luluk and Alvent play so "jorokkkkkkkk" today. I hope I'm wrong, well they're arguing not communicating, sort of telling other how to play in my opinion
