the order of play and my predictions:

Flandy Limpele / Vita Marissa vs. Lee Yong Dae / Lee Hyo Jung - personally i think Flandy/Vita will win despite playing Lee/Lee at home. Lee/Lee was stressed to 3 games today.

Lu Lan vs. Zhou Mi - Lu Lan hasn't shown that she can be consistent. ok. same for Zhou Mi but Zhou Mi has the experience.

Lin Dan vs. Lee Hyun Il - very impressive display today by Lee beating KJ. unfortunately Lin Dan is still Lin Dan, very few players will trouble him. kudos for Li Mao though for bringing LeeHI back to life.

Du Jing / Yu Yang vs. Gao Ling / Zhao Tingting - Du Jing / Yu Yang has been on a roll lately. i think they will prevail again against their seniors.

Luluk Hadianto / Alvent Yulianto Chandra vs. Fu Haifeng / Cai Yun - tough match to call. surprised that Luluk / Alvent beat Jonas / Lars so tamely today. i am going to leave this one at 50/50.

MEN'S SINGLES
Lin Dan [1] vs Lee Hyun Il -- the Chinese has the edge, but, the home crowd might play a factor as Lee is also hungry to please his countrymen with a title.

MEN'S DOUBLES
Luluk Hadiyanto/Alvent Yulianto [6] vs Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun [2] -- Luluk/Alvent had been on a roll this week, with 3 impressive victories in their CV. Can they add another one tomorrow? Fu/Cai have the slight edge.

WOMEN'S SINGLES
Lu Lan [3] vs Zhou Mi -- the Chinese Wall is crumbling and its up to Zhou Mi now to deliver a big blow once again.

WOMEN'S DOUBLES -- who cares abt this match anyway

MIXED DOUBLES
Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa [4] vs Lee Yong Dae/Lee Hyo Jung -- no tough opponents for Flandy/Vita so far, but, they have beaten the Korean pair in HK Open 2007. I think they could go on and lift their 3rd SS titles.

My predictions:

Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa vs Lee Yong Dae/Lee Hyo Jung - I still think the Koreans can take this one if LHJ can minimise her errors in front of the net like what she did during the 2nd half of the decider today.

Lu Lan vs Zhou Mi - Lu Lan has been shaky and inconsistent. Zhou Mi has the experience and desperately needs this title.

Lin Dan vs Lee Hyun Il - Nobody can stop Lin Dan from defending the title.

Du Jing/Yu Yang vs Gao Ling/Zhao Tingting - The younger compatriots will prevail again against their seniors.

Luluk Hadianto/Alvent Yulianto Chandra vs Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun - A very tough match to call. The Indonesans surprised everyone when they tamed Lars/Jonas today. They can claim their maiden SS title if they can reproduce the same effort.

Flandy Limpele / Vita Marissa vs. Lee Yong Dae / Lee Hyo Jung - Lee/Lee had a stressful 3 setter today against Xie/Zhang and are under severe pressure to win a title at home. Plus, Lee Hyo Jung is tired after having played two matches today (she lost her wd match tamely after wiinning the xd). Much less pressure on Flandy/Vita, they've done well to reach the final. Flandy/Vita to prevail in 3 sets.

Lu Lan vs. Zhou Mi -

Lin Dan vs. Lee Hyun Il - LHI will be pumped, but will run out of gas eventually. LD is still at his best.

Du Jing / Yu Yang vs. Gao Ling / Zhao Tingting - This will be a tough fight between the two pairs who are vying to be the third Chn pair for olympic selection. My feeling..gao ling/zhao tingting to win

Luluk Hadianto / Alvent Yulianto Chandra vs. Fu Haifeng / Cai Yun - Luluk/Alvent out to prove that they are INA's #2 pair, but I can't see them winning against the world number 3.

let me try one ^^
Lin Dan vs Lee Hyun Il - mayb the lee is getting bac but lin still the super dan + this is a fresh lin, he will definitely wan to hav a happy opening title for 08.

Lu Lan vs Zhou Mi - this two are not so consistent but zhou mi has been waiting for a ss title for a long long time plus lu lan often didn't get wat it take in the crucial time lik semis o final.

Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng vs Luluk/Alvent- afta kido/setiawan i think this one should be theirs coz the ina pair seldom play in finals, pressure factor here i think.

Gao Ling/Zhao Tingting vs Du Jing/Yu Yang - if thinking from game plan of china, i think GL/ZTT will win, coz they alr giv the 1st one to YW/ZJW, now is their time to get theirs + need some pts here.

Vita Marissa/Flandy Limpele vs Lee Yong Dae/Lee Hyo Jung - this one interesting, marissa/limpele seldom crash out if they reach final, but the koreans want this one badly afta missed their 1st one last week. 50-50 for both and i will go for ina this time coz from wat i experienced LHJ can't stand the spectator pressure much.

WOMEN'S DOUBLES -- who cares abt this match anyway

You really should give them more respect. Even if it is an all Chinese final, they still deserve the consideration of being the best in the world. I mean shoot, they'd probably wipe you off the court if you got the chance to play em.

Lukvent vs Cai/Fu

I know that Lukvent..especially Luluk really want to prove to PBSI and badminton world that they're still exist..and they can win this tournament..huge motivation, focus and mental strength will be their key for edge against world no.2 cai/fu..especially if Luluk is on his top form and far away from his reckless actions :p:D:D

Flandy/Vita vs Lee Yong Dae/Lee Hyo Jung

This experienced INA pair has playing characteristic that Chinese, and Korean pairs don't like, so patient, so diligent, controlling rhythm, and combined variating shots all the way round the corners, and most importantly, Flandy's experience will give them slight edge against Lee/Lee

It's not just a patriotic opinion, it's my objective analysis, based on those reasons, I personally think INA reps in Korea open final could reach their best,

INDONESIA BISA !!!

MEN'S SINGLES
Lin Dan [1] vs Lee Hyun Il -- Lin Dan had an easy game against Peter Gade, who was not in a good physical mood. I remember the SF of the Asia Games: It was a real carnage for Hyun

MEN'S DOUBLES
Luluk Hadiyanto/Alvent Yulianto [6] vs Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun [2] --
I don't think Hadiyanto/Yulianto are a good MD. Everytime i watched a game of them, they seemed do play very unconcentrated.

Prediction:

MS : Lin Dan. LD and LCW are the only men singles players who show top consistency this few months.

WS : Lu Lan . Time for her to win here or she will absolutely out of Olympic Beijing spot.

MD : Tough to call. But Cai/Fu had an edge if they play Luluk/ Alven.

WD : Du/Yu if LYB let them play normally and not ask Du/ Yu to lost.

XD : Flandi/Vita. although had to admit that LYD/LHJ become more and more solid pair.

MS - Logic says LD and I tend to concur although LHI has been very impressive in the 2 tournaments this year. For all those LD haters out there, give the guy a break. He is really that good.

WS - LL has been disappointing in that she's not shown the consistency she had towards the latter part of last year. Some of wins in the KO has been dodgy and she's just eking out wins. ZM has had a tougher road to the final and now she's there, I'm sure she's not going to leave matters unattended.

MD - This is a tough one for me to call. Just when you thought Luluk/Alven were dead and buried, up they pop from the grave. Love the way they're proving everyone wrong. Fu/Cai have been going about their business with minimal fuss and it'll be interesting to see how they deal with a crisis. I'm flipping a coin and it is.... Luluk/Alven

WD - I love the way Du/Yu are smacking everyone about. Very refreshing indeed and peaking nicely for the Olympics. Problem is there's a roadblock called LYB, and that's where their title aspirations end. Is LYB going to fast track GL to the Olympics by allowing her (and ZTT) to pick up max points? I would like to see the tomboys take it, but...

XD - The Koreans have to win something, so I guess they'll take the XD. Perhaps a crowd might show up and provide the impetus for LYD/LHJ to upset the favoured Indonesians.

They used to be no 1 so any pair who had been number 1..it tells you something...the problem lies with this pair that those 2 are not communicating.....it is not secret anymore...it is sad ....having said that...suprisingly that they are still in final......I just hope that those 2 can put aside their egos and concentrate for Olympics....
The key is on Luluk...he is a place maker...if he is on then we will have a good match...their defence is really good...

Alven/Luluk is always the easiest Indonesian opponent for Cai/Fu. They always lost to Cai/Fu, either tamely or after a thrilling 3-set match. Maybe there is a style factor or something.

Alven/Luluk is always the easiest Indonesian opponent for Cai/Fu. They always lost to Cai/Fu, either tamely or after a thrilling 3-set match. Maybe there is a style factor or something.

That was before Sigit Pamungkas became their coach last year. In the only match they were pitted with Fu/Cai last year, they took the first set and very very nearly won the second set after leading 13-9, only to lose 18-21.

I agree that the key is Luluk. If Luluk can stay calm and play to his potential, anything is possible. Hey, they have beaten Kido/Hendra not once...but twice last year  I just hope that yesterday's match was not their peak.

ye333
01-26-2008, 09:35 PM
Let's wait and see. Their "no-communication" style is still a problem though.

Indeed....but...they did exchange some high-fives yesterday :D

On paper, Fu/Cai will take this one.....unless Luluk/Alvent can match the Chinese pair in every aspect. As I said in the other thread, the key is not to let the Chinese pair settle down and dictate play according to their rhythm. In other words, the same thing that happened yesterday!

Once Cai Yun got frustrated, he will not play his best in front of the net and that is something that the INA pair has to capitalize on. Don't lift the shuttle and just play fast drives

MS - LHI vs LD - This game may go either way, but LD's superior fitness and general consistency will be his trump card. On the other hand, LHI has got his hunger back after a long hiatus, and Koreans generally don't give up at all whether at home or away. Battle of the hardest of the lefthanders. LD in 3.

WS - LL vs ZM - Zhou Mi will want to set the records straight, having lost narrowly to ZL last week, she has shown that she is still in the top reckoning. Lu Lan hasn't impressed at all (totally dominated by Tine last week), but this is her chance to grab LYB's vote for the top 3 to move to the Olympics, at the expense of either ZL or ZN. ZM in 2 or 3 tight sets.

MD - Cai/Fu vs Luluk/Alvent - The only thing stopping me from selecting Luluk/Alvent is their general level of communication and consistency. I saw that last in Cheah Soon Kit/Soo Beng Kiang 15 years ago, lack of communication brought that pair to a premature end, even if their skills are superior to the opposition.
However, Cai/Fu has problems too, dealing with the vets pairs from CTF/LWW to Jonas/Lars, who just won't quit giving 'em tough times. If the INA pair can handle the initial fast pace, the tables can turn and the CHN pair need to attend the veterans school for countering Luluk/Alvent as well. Cai/Fu in 2, or uneven 3 games.

WD - DJ/YY vs GL/ZTT - I am very impressed with DJ/YY's fast pace game, making up for the tomboys' lack of height and smashing angle. As long as they can keep GL from dominating the net, they have the chance. ZTT has not yet gelled with GL, though her smashes (notice her "extra" muscles everywhere) are probably now the fastest in the women's circuit, beating her old partner WYL. Definite 3 gamer whoever wins.

XD - Flandy/Vita vs LHJ/LYD - True, Koreans might turn the tables with the crowd behind them, but I would be surprised if they win, given the tendency for errors. Vita is much more stable than LHJ, and Flandy's flamboyant placement will keep LYD guessing. Only an inspired LYD can blast through the INA pair's tight defence. Flandy/Vita in 2, Koreans may turn the tables in 3.

The INA pair lacked that finishing kill and the aggression. Flandy looked a bit sluggish while Vita definitely was not at her best in front of the net today.

On the other hand, Lee Yong Dae was hungry for a title since his last title at the Swiss Open 2007 and the INA pair simply couldn't cope at all. Lee Hyo Jung also performed better than usual today and it was interesting to see her at the back of the court. Maybe Ha Tae Kwon figured out that he can't put Lee Hyo Jung in front.

We shall see if Lee Yong Dae/Lee Hyo Jung can perform better. Both Nova/Butet and Flandy/Vita lost to Han Sang Hoon/Lee Hyo Jung during their earlier matchups last year, but, that situation changed and Ha Tae Kwon has to scrap that partnership and put Lee Yong Dae back with Lee Hyo Jung.
