I have few agenda for this trip. Meeting/Taking pic with Taufik is top of my list. I think either Hauge, Abang Deng and Uncle Loh will do a better job reporting from JKT.

I am very worried if Msia meets KOR in QF... coz KOR has two very solid MD :eek: and LHI and PSH are quite good :eek:

It's not IF, they WILL meet Korea in group match. If Msia lose to Korea, they have meet Indonesia in QF. If they win, they meet China in Semis.

If Malaysia lose, they will probably win their crossover pre-quarterfinals, only to meet Indonesia in the quarterfinals. If Malaysia win, they will probably win the quarterfinal too, but then come against the great wall in the semis.

If u wanna change flights now, accommodation is still not a problem, but as I said the cheap rooms are no longer available during Thomas Cup week. Other rooms are still available but must pay extra USD 10 per night.

That's a variation order, as per any variation orders, there is always a bed for you as long as you r willing to pay, kakakakaka ...... :p Will move you with Sam for 3 nights, when Sam leaves on 17th, you gotta move to another room.

..for first timers to Jakarta, all they need to do when they land and exit the airport is to just call a taxi, get inside and close their eyes all the way to the hotel. Nothing to see lah. It's not like the ride from KLIA to KL with all the beautiful sceneries, landscapes and well taken care of toll road. Even KLIA itself is something to see and enjoy.:cool:
Unless of course, you arrive at night time in Jakarta, you can see all the lights in the cities...;)

Oh, when was the last time i was back in Jakarta?? I thought i had mentioned it recently. Anyway, the last time i was back there was in 2005. As mentioned, the Hotel have made arrangements to put our rooms close together, where possible. These include rooms under Tony Cheng and Charles Lun (booked under Vijaya Tours).

Now, some rooms are on twin beds, others are on double King bed, we can swap depending on our preference. Loh's room will have an extra bed for 3.

Last minute changes are still possible but not encouraged, in any case the cheapest rooms are full. More expensive rooms and suites are still available, but not for long.

Pontianak is a city at Kalimantan, dodol durian actually is kuih durian...like dodol kelapa from Penang (green colour or chocolate colour, can get alot from Penang Road)

well, based on my one experience of BC members gathering, that will be hard to accomplish. hahahaha. just getting everybody together in one place is hard much more so to get everybody to take pictures together. but maybe hauge will manage to organize everything with the help of many experienced uncles. :D can't wait to see the pics.

well, yesterday in the stadion I almost watch the match cause the ticket not sale why ? the management poor.. Luckyly there's The Angel" RUDY- HAUGE" give Us inivitation ticket but.. must wait from; 09.00 until 13.00, I saw a lot of players come in-out but the police very strict so I only got the pics outside the stadion with the demo of the people who didn't got :Dtickets....well, I'm already met Hauge he is a nice person, busy I think....

I went to istora today, the ticket box was opened at 1 pm! And no more vip tickets because i think those tickets were bought oredi by calo-calo yg rese bgt itu (they sold it 100,000-150,000 rupiah)!!! :mad:
1/4 of the vip seats were empty (this is why i believe those tickets were bought by calo)!!! And the line!!! i arrived at istora @ 11 with my friend and we were in line for 2 'lack of O2' hours, with ppl pushing from every directions...:mad:

I hope they really do something for the QF, SFs and Finals, coz i heard that the vip tickets that we can book via BRI are sold out already... :crying:Any idea, tips, etc to buy VIP tickets for friday in easier way?

calo is ticket scalper... they get hold of the ticket and sell them at triple/quadruple or much more than the original price...

For your info (from BRI Call Centre), the TUC ticket has already sold out including semifinal tickets but don't know about final tix. So the only option for you, just watching in front of TV.

My friend from MAS said there were no SF tickets left in MAS embassy, she only got tickets for preliminaries...

I asked someone in the BRI counter (in Istora) yesterday, the guy told me that all TC tickets were sold out, UC still available tho...

Its really hard to get tickets... No idea how it got sold out real fast... Too many calo?

Always tried to stay within walking distance of my objective. Not too keen on taking drives unless no choice, the drivers in Jakarta are "so exceptional". :eek: It just so happened that my previous company has a subsidiary with HQ in Panin Bank Building, so I stayed in Century Park on most occasions.

Azabaz, Hau-ge's illness has given him "divine inspiration" in MO. Now instead of running away, he only needs shake his head and look up ...... or maybe he was just wary of Ants and Fastdrop sitting beside ..... :D

Looking at the duration (11-18 May), it seems to be more compressed than the 2004 and 2006 timetable.

I suppose this is close to the planned event timetable:-

11-13 May - Preliminary group phase (3 teams per group, 4 groups per Cup)
14 May - Crossover pre-q-finals (2nd and 3rd placed teams only)
15 May - Q-finals (crossover winners vs group champs)
16 May - Semifinals, also known as my birthday ;)
17 May - Uber Cup Final
18 May - Thomas Cup Final

Or they could have 17 May as rest day, 18th May afternoon session Uber Cup Final and evening session Thomas Cup Final.

In which case, my target is to arrive by 15 morning. 14 is possible but might be objectionable by my boss. Esp since I plan to be back at the office on Tuesday 20th.

I am flying in 15th morning flight(yup, have decided not to bother with X-over pre-quarterfinals, never understood the need for X-overs), should arrive before noon and hopefully before the 1st session of that day.

Going back on Wesak day, Air Asia only has the 8:10 am flight left on "cheap sale". Other flights available but 2 to 3 times more expensive.

Staying at Atlet Century Park Senayan. If anyone wants to share, pls holler. Max occupancy = 3 but extra bed is extra charge.

You need to have grocery warehouses in your travels, otherwise you will be saddled with hefty hotel meal bills. We are there 4 nights + expending lots of energy carrying "heavy loads". Plus need to be more careful of what we eat and drink here (eg. do not drink from hotel tapwater, not even if it is boiled).

So the smart thing is to stay closest to a possible food and snacks source. Again, walking distance applies. About 300 yards to Plaza Senayan.

That makes Century Park superior to The Sultan.

For the opening two days of competition, tickets for sessions involving Indonesian sides were sold out.
And touts were selling tickets costing Rp20,000 (RM8) at Rp100,000 (Rm40).
