Yup, KJ has bright chance to pick European Champion title for the first time in his badminton career. No need for PG to force participation in EBC 2008, Peter had won this biennial tournament four times.

Don't underestimate Wacha from POL. I think he has a legit shot at the MS title. Looks like Tine/Pi/Xu/Petya/Schenk will contend for the WS with Tine the heavy favourite.

NO,..thoes with 100th.or even 200th behine him wont even get a chance to get into main draw in SS......not to say in Olympic....

Presumably your refenece of match fixing is for the national coach decided to let the player with the better chance of winning to have an easier passage by instruct his/her teammate to default the match. This may not be good for the sport or the paying public and definitely not the player that defaulted the match but it’s the national coach’s responsibilty to maximise the chance of his/her team to win. Sometimes that might not work but in most cases it’s an advantage. Do you really think most of the coaches will not do the same, given the chance? For the coaches, this is professionalism, nothing else.
What you have to understand is for most of the countries, regardless of sports, Olympics is a team event.
As individual as running, how many times you have seen the long distance runners from Keyan ran as a team, taking turn to lead and tried to worn out the opponents. They only ran against each other at the very end once they got ride of the rest.

If KJ wins this title... he will 'defeat' CJ for OG's ticket ?
As at April 3rd, KJ and TH are 1778 and 1792 points respectively behind CJ in terms of world rankings.

#4 CHEN Jin CHN 60280
#5 Kenneth JONASSEN DEN 58502
#6 Taufik HIDAYAT INA 58488

Since ABC and EBC are considered as GP Gold, the winners will be awarded 7000 pts, runners-up 5950 pts, 3/4 4900 pts, 5/8 3850 pts, 9/16 2720 pts, 17/32 1670 pts etc.

A title for KJ/TH + a SF finish (or worse) for CJ will cause CJ out of top 4????

TH is the defending champion....so he have to defend his 7000 points......

CJ has to enter final........to be able to play in Olympic....

If CJ enter SF only.......then KJ have to win EC to top CJ by 322 points....
and CJ will lose his Olympic ticket........:p

i think it's far more likely for KJ to win the EBC than for CJ to reach the SF of the ABC. the lineup for the ABC this year is pretty intimidating, it's going to be a tough tournament for many.

well the only match germany actually won was Xu Huaiwen in WS. (but she won it big time!)
besides that in the men's doubles match,Poland chose to retire when the won the first game 21-17, didn't wanna waste any more power and strengh, so Germany "won" that match too!

the only match which was pretty equal was the WD. Which Poland eventually won. the rest Poland was just one level better than Germany.

TV2 always shows a lot of badminton, especially danish league but don't expect to see any of it since you need a subscription to see it ... in fact I can't remember anything ever shared from denmark (except homemade stuff) ;);).

Guess it turned out to be 3-0 after all :):

Thomas Laybourn/Kamilla Rytter Juhl - Anthony Clark/Donna Kellogg 21-15, 22-24, 21-18
Joachim Persson - Andrew Smith 21-13, 26-24

PG is already out.
but... Kenneth Jonassen can't afford to pull out of the European Championships because he's always been a runner up behind Peter Gade... plus this is Jonassen's last chance to go for the European title. And I hope that Jonassen wins this, he deserves it! (mainly because he was always in the shadow of Peter Gade)

Jonassen will be playing - he just wanted to be spared for the "easy" team final so he could performe his best at individuels..

"En skadet Kenneth Jonassen kommer ikke med i aftenens EM-finale for hold, hvor Danmark møder England.

Danskeren fik et vrid i sin ene akillessene i semifinalen, og landstræner Steen Pedersen har derfor valgt at erstatte ham med Joachim Persson i aftenens finale."

Aah LYB tactics ;). Anyway his road to the final is relatively easy now ...

can u translate the phrase pls?

Old news, not important anymore about why he didn't play in the team final. Anne said just to rest while this says he fik et vrid (got twisted??) his achilles so didn't play just to be safe but if he didn't actually have an "injury" you could call it LYB tactic ;). Doesn't matter since it's a team event so even if there was nothing with his achilles they still have the right to play Persson instead.
So it was just out of precaution.

OMG - Jan Ø' jorgensen won in men's singles beating Dicky Palyama from the netherlands i 3 games. the last set was encrediblely intense and exciting! jan Ø. came back from lacking from 13-17 and then winning 21-19! wauw - keep an eye on Jan Ø. that's for sure. he'll make it to the top! his play is fast, he takes chances, still get a little bit upset about linejudges errors (but who doesnt), but he is only 20 years, so he has got a lot of good year to come!

even more impressed as he won again today against Dieter Domke from Germany. A player that I haven't heard of before really. But he was happy and in the interview at tv afterwards he admitted to having the time of his life and that at the moment he couldn't even focus on the match tomorrow because he was up flying - and that now he wanted to taste atleast bronze...

in the all dane mixed today Laybourne/rytter juhl retired due to illness and no more strengh from Laybourne's side. So unfortunatly the two Danish pairs only played two tied and exiting games.

Tine won over Yao Jie in a two sets game, and felt very lucky to have defeated one of the few other women left in world topten.

i'm not totally sure how it works for the continental champs such as the euro champs. Anyhow i know that Dicky Palyama won't qualifye for the Olympics hence he didn't make it to the semifinals (when loosing to Jan Ø yesterday) which was the national demand to qualifye

What a pity...Anthony Clark/Donna Kellogg win the European Championships 2008 after a tough rubber-set victory over Robert Mateusiak/Nadiezda Kostiuczyk 16-21, 22-20, 21-15.

The Polish pair was leading comfortably at 17-12 in the second set when 2 judgement errors by Mateusiak gifted 2 points to the English pair. Clark/Kellogg subsequently had a 6-2 run and eventually finished off the Polish pair's challenge.

But this Polish pair is certainly one to watch out for...they have beaten He Hanbin/Yu Yang twice....in the French Open and Russian Open 2007 (to claim the title in Moscow).
