Folks what's up here? I recently had a look at statuates governing the Thomas Cup and was suprised to find that date for the finals draw:

seems to be in violation of the statuates:

5. FINAL STAGE DRAW
5.1. The final stage draw, at which each competing Member Association may be represented, shall be made within seven days of the last Sunday in February of the even year.

Or does the last Sunday February mean different things to different people. Is the last Sunday in February actually March 3rd? I thought that would be the first Sunday in March ....

Can anyone explain this? No big deal, just caught my curiosity .....

As host of upcoming Thomas and Uber Cup (TUC) Final stage 2008, PB PBSI (Badminton Association of Indonesia) is still waiting BWF decision about TUC drawing day. Original date from information in BWF website is March 8, 2008. Because this date clashed with All England tournament so it's delayed to March 12. And then it changed again to become March 18 because Mr. G.Sulistiyanto as head of TUC 2008 commitee will be absent.

"But BWF doesn't accept that date because March 18 is too long. So, the decision when the drawing will be held still need time. On March 3, I will go to Malaysia to meet BWF," said Chief in charge of TUC event organizer Mimi Irawan, Thursday (28/02) in Jakarta.

Badminton World Federation (BWF) finally approved that drawing date will be held on March 8 2008. "Today we receive an info from BWF that they agree the TUC Final drawing will be held on March 8. As planned, drawing will be started at 03.00pm," said Mimi Irawan, Friday (29/02) in Jakarta.

According to regulation, the drawing will be attended by BWF representative and one of four referees, Chua Soo Hock from Malaysia.

Right then, who in BWF will report themselves to the police? ;)

That's right! So confusing about the drawing day, sigh...

The schedule of 2008 TUC Final drawing return to change once AGAIN from early plan. "Date of TUC drawing has determined on March 12, 2008," as text message which sent by TUC head commitee, Gandi Sulistyanto, in Jakarta, Monday night (03/03).

Previously, Mimi Irawan as head of TUC event organizer said the drawing will be held on March 08. When confirmed about it, G.Sulistiyanto admitted to initiate about schedule changing.

"It's my request, considering March 7, 2008 is Nyepi Day (Hindu Seclusion day) so there will be long weekend in Indonesia. Many invitation who couldn't come and also the players have not yet arrived from Europe tournament," said him.

"Hopefully this (the schedule) is final decision. I try to accomodate many interests," said G. Sulistiyanto who ensure that date of March 12 has approved by Badminton World Federation (BWF).
