Let's get the ball rolling

WS
Yihan Wang over Larisa.Griga. Will be hard to stop the Chinese youngster
Wenyan Li over M.K.Yulianti . I wonder if fatigue will be a factor after Maria's 67 min classic with Eriko
J.Schenk over Aiying Xing. I'm afraid Julia will be very hard to beat at home
Jae Youn Jun over Yu Hirayama. Need you ask more?

MS
S.Hwan Park over Sho Sasaki. Park will defend to the death
Seung Mo Shon over Eric Pang. Ginseng power rolls on
Shoji Sato over Weijie Gong. The experienced Japanese will teach the Chinese youngster a thing or two
Hyun Il Lee over M.R.Hashim. Lee completes the Korean hat trick

WD
KW.Lee/HJ.Le over Novita/Polii. Will near impossible for the INA girls to cause an upset
Gao Ling/T.T.Zhao over Jiang/Y.J.Li. Experienced Gao Ling will guide the misfiring ZTT over the SIN duo
Maeda/Suetsu over Endang/Rani. Unfortunately, another INA pair bites the dust
Chien/Cheng over ]JE.Ha/MJ.Kim. The Taiwanese pair are consistently in the QF or SF

MD
Jung/Y.D.Lee over Fang/S.M.Lee. Another Korean pair through
Rian/Yonathan over Han/G.W.Cho. The best chance for INA to qualify
Guo/Z.B.Xie over Sakamoto/Ike. I'd be shocked if it wasn't an easy win for the Chinese pair
JJ.Lee/Hwang over Naoki/Keishi. What? Another Korean pair through?! Should be no surprise

XD
H.B.He/Y.Yu over Rijal/Polii. Straightforward win
Han/YM.Hwang over Durkin/Sorok. I'm tired of saying this... another Korean win
YD.Lee/HJ.Lee over Hsieh/Chien. You can't bet against LYD
Chen/TT.Zhao over Clark/Kellog. Are Clark/Kellog worthy of their #2 seed? Not today

I still think that Gong can upset the Japanese.

Chinese players who are in top 100 can beat anyone in top 20.

nah, i don't believe that's true.
i don't think any of the CHN players outside the top 50 stand a chance against any of the top 20 players.
and certainly none of them outside the top 20 can beat any of those inside the top 10, not unless there's an injury of some kind.

QF summary by country:
CHN - 7 wins from 7 matches (pretty much expected)
KOR - 9 wins from 11 matches :eek: (could have been 10 wins if PSH did not get shocked)
JPN - 2 wins from 5 matches (not bad)
TPE - 1 win from 3 matches (as expected)
GER - 1 win from 1 match (thanks to Juliane Schenk)

Biggest disappointment was INA - 0 win from 5 matches! Granted, they did not send their strongest team.

What a tiring day yesterday, didn't even have time to follow the proceedings of the QF as I arrived home "this morning" at 3:30am :o

As expected the INA players crashed out in QF. I had stated that NONE will breach the Semi-Finals and indeed.

First up, the Djarum pair Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki lost to Han Sang Hoon/Cho Gun Woo 20-22, 11-21. Nevertheless, a good performance in reaching the QF, after that victory over the Japanese pair Tadashi Ohsuka/Keita Masuda in R32. Up next will be Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun in the All-England.

The best performer was Mohd Rijal/Greysia Polii as they were locked in an intense battle with He Hanbin/Yu Yang and nearly won the match with 2 match pts in hand and a huge lead at the closing stages of the rubber-set. However, the Chinese pair was more experienced and they snatched a 21-19, 21-23, 23-21 win. Expect more close encounters between these 2 pairs later in the year, esp after the Olympics as Rijal/Grace will step up to be INA's no 2 pair (or even no 1 pair if Nova Widianto does retire after the Olympics).

Maria Kristin Yulianti also fell to the Chinese player who specializes in winning European tourneys, Li Wenyan in rubber-sets 21-18, 16-21, 12-21. The Women's Doubles pairs also lost as expected. Rani Mundiasti/Endang Nursugianti still can not get past any Japanese pair as they lost to Satoko Suetsuna/Miyuki Maeda 21-17, 16-21, 9-21. Jo Novita/Greysia Polii also lost easily in straight sets to the top-seed Li Kyung Won/Lee Hyo Jung 7-21, 18-21

Never mind, it's not big disappointment. Rijal/Polii almost won yesterday with their impressive performance against the top-seed He/Yu.
