Hi members@ccc,

Received email from Gary Grierson, the Match Secretary of CBA (Central Badminton Association, Melbourne) asking for entries.

Anyone interested, please contact:
Gary Grierson
Vice President and Match Secretary
Central Badminton Association Inc.
Phone 9700 2536 (prior to 6.30pm)
Mobile 041 958 2079 (prior to 10.00pm)
Email garygrierson@ozemail.com.au

I would say that CCC Badminton would not field in a team of our own for this 2008 Winter Season Competition.

Anyway, Gary is suggesting that those who are interested, they can join teams of other clubs to participate in it.

Please email Gary for more details.

Cheers... chris@ccc

2008 CBA League Venues
2 player competition

All grades will play at MSAC.
4 & 6 player competitions

The Tellstars club may play home matches at Whitefriar’s College, 156 Park Rd, Donvale.

Other clubs may use an approved venue other than MSAC provided the match can be played on the same night as the MSAC matches. We are having problems with MSAC in obtaining the required number of courts for each night.
At this stage we have only been able to book:- 3 courts on Mondays for 2 hours.
2 courts on Tuesdays for 3 hours.
2 courts on Wednesdays for 3 hours.
3 courts on Thursdays for 3 hours.
We are investigating the possibility of playing one grade at an alternate venue and this would ease our programming problem.
At this stage we are looking at playing:-

Singles on Mondays and Wednesdays. (7 teams, 5 teams)
Doubles on Tuesdays and Thursdays possibly as follows:-

Section 2 (5 teams) Tuesday.

4 teams Section 4 plus 2 teams Section 3 on Thursday. Competition formats:
2 player teams (2 Men, 2 ladies or 1 Man & 1 Lady).
Play singles, reverse singles and doubles – All matches are the best of 3 rally point games – Singles to 15, Doubles to 21.

The matches have a two hour time limit from 8.00pm to 10.00pm.
All matches will play at MSAC on a Monday and also one of a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday nights.
4 player teams. (2 Ladies & 2 Men).
Play men's doubles, ladies' doubles and 4 mixed doubles – All matches are the best of 3 rally point games to 21 points.

The matches have a three hour time limit from 8.00pm to 11.00pm.
Teams playing at MSAC will be scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday nights
There has been some interest shown in a 6 player (3 men, 3 ladies) competition.
Matches would need to be completed in a 3 hour time limit (8.00pm-11pm)
Most likely only way to complete 9 matches in 3 hours would be to play all matches as the best of 3 rally point games to a maximum of 15 points.
Would need at least 5 teams of similar standard in order to proceed.
If entering this format you would need to state which team members would be prepared to play (in 4 player team format) if it not enough teams enter to make it a viable proposition.
Teams playing at MSAC will be scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday nights. Teams will be asked to nominate their preferred night of play – and to indicate if there is any night which they would find impossible to play.
Contact the Match Secretary if you need more information.

Greetings,

Some of our newer players from our Wednesday Social@MSAC are interested to form a CCC team to participate in future CBA League Games.

It usually take months to form such a team. So if anyone else is interested to play, let's start talking about it now in this thread. We are told to submit our Summer team by the end of this Winter League.

Cheers

Since the next competition will be a Summer one, perhaps it is better to look at last year's formats. The thread is located at:

Chris, unless CBA changes its league format, pretty much no chance to get enough ladies to participate in the 4 player mixed competition.

realistically we are left with either
a) 4 players
b) 2 players team

Hahaha... hkhung, You are making comments for our Wednesday CCC again. :D:D:D

At supper, after our Wednesday 14-May-2008 session, we checked how many ladies playing at CCC Wednesday night who could qualify for D/C Grade *.

*** Are to ladies whom you haven't met yet.

(1) aiaiai48***
(2) annliew*
(3) Christie-S*
(4) CHWeng***
(5) elained***
(6) Kylie-L***
(7) Nancy-L***

Although Sleepie_angel is too strong to qualify for the D/C Grade, I might be able to bring some of our previous CCC trainees who are still playing in other clubs/groups, to participate in the D/C Grade, namely;
(8) Hsiu-C***
(9) Lily-G
(10) Michelle-W***

And some of our previous CCC trainees, whom I haven't seen playing recently, namely;
(11) Chiranti-M
(12) Lily-C
(13) Louisa-L***
(14) Nikki-W***
