Dear BC Friends!

The second quarterly GGBCS Platinum Tournament, held on February 24, 2008 was a great success regardless of the unaccommodating weather during our festive weekend. After several adrenaline pumping matches, where most teams battled 3 games, G1 finally claimed its victory over G2. For those people who have watched the tournament, I am sure you have witnessed the sportsmanship, skills, and the mentality of these tough players. Watch out if you play games with them! J

The tournament not only attracts returning, and new players, but also family members of the players who threw cheers and support to their love ones. It was very amusing to see the dismayed face from little cute Vivian who came to report the losing score of his father Joseph in the second game! It’s times like these that GGBC members feel like family!

As I had told the players before the tournament started, they would expect a good workout as the games would be played in the round-robin style for each event. These tough fighters had to challenge each opponent for each event they signed up. Most of the players were soaked with sweat, and their hair even radiated vapor like smoke! To my surprise, two of these players have unbounded amount of energy, and continued to play even after 5 matches in 4 hours. These “iron men” were Mr. Tong and Clifford who had the face-off with each other from the tournament in November 2007. Clifford didn’t leave the premises until closing! Now that’s SPIRIT for you!

The last event for Women’s Doubles was the one of the most exciting matches. Angela and Sally, who were first-time partners and never practiced together before the tournament, played against Mari and Abigail who had partnered from the last Platinum Tournament. They were scoring neck and neck until the 3rd game decided the victory. During one the rally, Sally was so committed to retrieve the deep cross-court return that she ran from one court into another. Sally’s surprise return followed by the out-of-court drop short by her opponents was decisive to the momentum of Sally and Angela’s 3rd game victory.

Let’s put our hands together again for the platinum players! For their friendship and stellar performance throughout the entire tournament!

The next in-house GG Family tournament is our “GGBCS GOLD FRIENDSHIP TOURNAMENT”, for players between ages 16 and 40. It will be held at GGBC 1 Menlo Park from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 30th, 2008. Sign up NOW before it’s too late!

Let's hope all of you will come out and play our incredibly fun and challenging GG Team Tournaments in the future! It's delightful to see so many of our players, not only participate in a healthy, friendly competition where they can exercise & challenge their physical, and mental stamina, but also have such great interaction with families. It’s getting better every time! Come join us for the next GG Family EVENT!
