WMC WIN in CO07 was just an miracle, flash on the pan ;)
Thats exactly what I thought after analysing those non-CHN players cracking the Great Wall. WMC doesnt have what it takes, but not to discard her as a dark horse. Tine has the height n power, but not consistancy. :p

sheesh what a sore loser lu lan is....this is the second or third tournament ive seen her not want to shake handss with the opponent after the match and not stand on the podium with her opponent.... oh well congrats to tine though very exciting match
Interesting observation, anyone else care to comment?
hmmm, tine went celebration right after the last point....took sometimes for tine to go back to the arena, by the time, lu lan was packing her stuff....tine went to greet her, and gave a firm handshake....i guess this is normal...
as for the podium, i din c the prize ceremony, cant comment:)

Lee Dong Soo and Ha Tae Kwon's presence in the coaching team have indeed changed the Doubles Team.
BTW, the Korean Team is there to stay in Europe after the Swiss Open, with Lee Hyun Il, Hwang Hye Youn, Ha Jung Eun/Kim Min Jung and Lee Yong Dae/Lee Hyo Jung going to compete in a minor Banuinvest International Badminton Championships 2008 in Romania  They are really claiming as many Olympics pts as possible!

Tine went to hug and doing "Give me five" with her coaches right after she won the match point. By the time she's done, LL is almost on her way out. If you look at video again, you could tell that Tine tapped her on the shoulder then she turned around and shakes hands with Tine.
Not very polite, but should not be blamed, either.

..just checking in..
Any of u guys in All England??? well I was there on Friday and yesterday took pics with all of team INA apart from Vita, Sony and Alven...btw Endang is soooo cute in real life.....well did u hear the INA support??? Richard Mainaky actually thanked us for the support
..any pics to share w/us??..;)
...
We went to the Indo players yesterday and met Nova, Hendra( the other one not Setiawan) and Taufik....most of the player were not there...
They were in Manchester watching Man U against Portsmouth...
..ah, so perhaps their minds were somewhere else during this AE..more interested in going and watching a soccer match??..
..we'll be waiting for both of you guys' pics, here in BC..;)
Man, I'm so nervous, cant believe INA won 1st game!
Okay...scary part now.....3rd set.......
can't take it, too nervous...
:p...nervous??..you guys were nervous??.. :);)
It's funny to see Nova prefer smash to Zeng Bo rather than Gao Ling!
..that's why they call this sport "the gentleman's game"..;)
that was an entertaining game!!! good fight back by LL, but just too late. congrats to TR, kept her composure and deserved the win
The crowd must have enjoyed it. They were treated to a cliff hanger by both ladies. Well done to them both.
What an exciting finale for the Women's Singlas Final.
This was definitely today's most thrilling and tense Final so far.
...
..indeed the WS Final match turned out to be an entertaining match...too bad, i didn't watch the actions..:p
Tine Rasmussen won 3 SS titles beating 3 CHN players in the finals within 6 months.
JO2007 beating XXF
MO2008 beating ZL

The key is to force the Chinese pair to a rally and not to let the shot be killed so easily as in the initial stage of the first set.

Du Jing made a number of wild returns, while Yu Yang apparently didn't look comfortable at the back. Congratulations to Lee Kyung Won/Lee Hyo Jung! They have defied the odds and beat Du Jing/Yu Yang in rubber-sets. The rubber-set was played very smartly by the Koreans once they got the lead at the beginning of the set. They even rallied to a 18-11, thanks to the atrocious defense of the Chinese pair, which gifted the Korean pair points after points. That basically sealed the match. Team Korea WINS 2 TITLES THIS WEEK!
This match also exposed the tomboys' weaknesses! They were pretty ordinary in defense and made lots of errors if their attacks did not work. So, they were basically relying on raw power right now....other Chinese pairs like Yang Wei/Zhang Jiewen are still superior to them!
Kyung Won played really well, minimized her mistake and fully utilized her vast experience playing rallies. I was worry about Hyo Jung but she hold herself very well too during the storm. The Chinese pair still lack of experience and lack of changes, once their smashes no longer effective, the wall crumbled, very one dimensional.
Good effort by both sides, nothing to be shame of even the Chinese lost while the fearless Koreans shown to world how to beat the mighty Chinese.

Agree on this one...Lee Hyo Jung made some errors, but those even pales in numbers compared to Du Jing (her many wild returns) and Yu Yang (if she's at the back of the court). The Koreans are more patient and rarely attacked, just rely on the Chinese to make the errors.

Poor CJ that get discounted for winning the All England title by the bias fans again. Doesn't matter if he win by a big margin or small but people still criticize China for match fixing. Oh well, did he beat LCW fair and sqaure? So can't he beat LD and not to mention it was a close game.
When LCW and TH fail to deliver the fans has lot of excuse for them whether they are not trying or they are tried. And when LD fail then it must be the evil LYB doing something bad.
Come on, if your countryman fail to enter to the final, blame your players, but don't blame China for the domination.
LYB is not evil, but the people who discount the winner's effort.

Well, ppl have eyes and brains. They watch the match and compare the performance of the athletes with their "database" of previous performance, not just count the points. Yes, it doesn't matter he wins by a big margin or small margin, what matters is whether their behavior on court is suspicious or not.
Of course it's all subjective and depending on people's experience. For example, if you have never watched Hafiz play, and then see one match. You may think, this guy is not trying, the match may be fixed. But then suppose you download 10 other matches of Hafiz and watch them, you will realize that this guy always plays like that. Since it's highly unlikely that all of his matches are fixed, your previous conclusion is most likely wrong.
But obviously bias does not play a role here.

LCW may or may not fake injury during French Open but that doesn't lead to match-fixing suspicion because BCL or CJ were not cooperating. Now you should understand the difference I believe?
By the way, CJ would still get dis-credited if LD really is injured. Since everyone knows if LD is in his normal form, CJ would not have much chance.

The problem here is that 'Team China' is now reaping what they have sown. Their history of rather blatant match manipulation is now comming back to bite them as now any match between two Chinese players is viewed with a jaded eye by many. Personally, I don't care what goes on in these tournaments the professional game has been turned into a joke. I treat it as entertainment. It's fun to watch but I don't worry too much about who wins. you conspiracists are full of it. If LD was faking it, why did he still get his shots with his backhand? havent u notice LD was using backhand 2 to 3 times more often than normal in set 2? Of course he isnt playing 100%, because he can't and won't. Why risk compounding the injury going into the OG? At least he tried getting all the shots and not walking out or purposely hit shuttle into the net like TH. If lcw or TH was watching, they should be worried because today i saw new repertoire of play that i havent seen from LD before. LD lost marginally to CJ with only 60% of his max speed, and CJ can beat LCW convincingly. Need i say more?

Everyone can have a personal opinion on 'Team China'. BCers argue about their views to depth. If only it was about judgments based of facts, proofs and beliefs. This arguing over match fixing is mainly based on nationalism and nothing more. You also forgot to mention past experience as one criteria. What convinced me of China's tendancy to manipulate matches was when I was able to look at the draw in a recent tournament and accuratly predict walkovers. Having said all this, I don't see anything weird about the results from the All Englands this year. (I've only seen the scores). As for a lack of passion? As the many things you have mentioned, it's still a judgment in the eyes of the beholders, subject to interpretation as I said before. One might be able to predict walkovers in a SS, but again it's based on one's experience or opinion. Could it happen purely by chance? Yes. Would everyone come to the same conclusions? No. So I don't go around criticize ANY players or countries for what they do or not do regarding w/o. If it's legal and allowed under the rules, why the fusses. Anyone has additional facts to prove otherwise should bring the complaints to BWF for them to resolve. You, I, and other BCers don't make up the SS rules or meter out punishments for any infractions
As your passion for playing game, you may be right. I was referring to the latter in my previous post. BCers are not necessarily passionate players, but many are surely passionate for making comments (which I can see).
It proves again there are wide varieties of people and attitude in the BC forum
Judgement in the eyes of badminton fans matters. Judgement in the eyes of non-fans who wanted to watch a match or two matters.

So LD can't really be injured and only LCW can? Funny that you're telling me that you're open minded and not bias sometimes ago when you pin-point the Chinese team every single time.
Has it ever occured to anyone that maybe those who do NOT pin-point the Chinese team when something suspicious happens but instead will loudly defend the team, are the ones who are bias?

two team kimchis take the title! :D (you guys crack me up, calling them "kimchis"). all hail coffee prince country!
i hope someone teaches jill how to correctly pronounce those korean names. the way she reads them irritates me. :p
i think morgen should always be right next to jill on the commentary box.
i gotta watch the replays later, especially mixed doubles.
If you want to read Korean names correctly, 'Lee' should really be read 'I' ('ee' instead of 'ai').

Well actually, I do not suspect the Chinese team per se, I am ok with the Chinese team. My suspicion points 100% at LYB.

That's exactly why I said it is not impossible that LD really has an injury. But you have to admit that the timing of this injury is too perfect to prevent ppl from being suspicious.
Let's assume LD's injury is real. Don't forget LCW too once beated CJ 21:8, 21:8 (literally) walking around with an injured leg. The thing is CJ's style. CJ has a pretty straightforward style emphasizing pure power and pure speed, and if his opponents can match his speed and can read his shots, he's doomed. If you watch the match, you see that LD predicts almost all of CJ's shots. That's why LD has so much time preparing for every shot and made CJ look stupid time after time.
As I always said, the most dangerous weapon LD has is his ability to read his opponents' shots. Since he is so familiar with his teammates, this ability makes him a nightmare for them, with CH the only exception. You can watch Korea Open 2007 final, LD just played half-heartedly with CJ for most of the time, and then easily won many points in a row when necessary.
you conspiracists are full of it.

If it matters so much to you or anyone so much, why don't you bring the matter to BWF and ask them to change the rules? Instead of arguing here, where we have the rules to agree to disagree at certain point. I have no problem when anyone can prove to the world that Chn or any countries did anything not allowed under the rules in w/o and needs to be punished accordingly. Otherwise, we are just wasting time arguing back and forth whether LD had injury or not in AE 08 MSF. Suspicion is still suspicion no matter how long or how much you argue, which gave rise to the appearance of bias because your arguments are full of suspicions with no concrete proof.

I would have said it in a way that would have caused too much friction. Luckily we have hcyong. ;)

...i can feel this coming...i hope the latest discussion won't result in the thread being locked...:p
I hope so because I'm tired of hearing all the talk and no action and all the accusations and "supporting" arguments flying around with no proof either way :D
Personally, I did not expect an injury before the match, and was expecting a tough fight between the two in AE 08 MSF. But again, if LD said he's injured, I would not claim otherwise because nothing proved he wasn't

Wiser? Well, that's questionable ;):D
In the end I couldn't be bothered to be engaged in the potential of a long drawn out debate. However hcyong's observation is well put.

well, with all the upsets in 08 AE, there was no real upsets in the MS. The 4 best MS players are all in the SF. Whether LD played half heartedly or not in the final, it doesnt matter to him or lyb because it will be china MS anyway. The real contest for lyb to guage his MS players were how LHI, TH and lcw gonna win or lose. Since CJ overcame one real threat to china MS in the OG, lcw, lyb can now focus on fixing the MD and WD. Yes lcw had beaten bcl, LD and CJ before but the ability to beat potential opponents few months before the OG has more importance to lyb.

It doesnt matter to LD, but definitely matter to LYB and CJ. It's 2000 Olympic points.

It matters to LD the most because it may increase his chance of the OG08 gold.LD has never won a title when there are only 2 or even 3 CHN MS in the tournament.(BUt I may be wrong).Ultimately, LD may be the beneficiary of his unfortunate loss but it may turn out to be a real loss.Like Robin7 said, still no title for LD after 3 SS...Unbelievable.

LYB's gonna need a lot of help.He has to focus on fixing MS,WS,XD,MD and even WD now.Wow,suddenly, that's all the events.LYB gotta work overtime and that still would not solve the problem.

Well, I missed one point. This AE title really matters to LD since it would be his 5th consecutive AE final and 4th AE title. One more and he is above Morten Frost and only below Rudy Hartono.
