Dear BC Friends,

GGBC is participating in a most exciting middle of the week day this coming Wednesday, March 12th, 08 at Smash City in Milpitas! Our GGBC All Star Elites are stomping over to Smash City to have an Inter-club VERY FRIENDLY :) competition with Smash City's toughest bunch in hopes of creating great exhibition matches, fantastic sportsmanship, a toast to good neighbourly clubbing, and of course, everyones MAIN goal, to promote our love of badminton! This is the brainchild of Wayne Lum with Mike Yang and it's great that they want to put the clubs together to enjoy each others company and competitive spirit. You won't want to miss this tournament so if anyone is interested please hop on down to Smash City on Wednesday night, March 12th, at 7:00pm where "THE GAMES WILL BEGIN!" To let you know how friendly this game is.. Mike and Wayne are planning to take out all the players to HOT POT after the games! Now how loving can you get? It's important for Bay Area clubs to all get together to promote the goodness and create interest in our beloved Badminton. Please help us do that by showing your support and come out and cheer for both teams!

See you there! GGBC and Smash City Management

We plan to compete Thomas Cup style - that being 3 Singles events and 2 Doubles events. If there is more interest amongst the players, we can expand to 7 or more matches. Come see internationally recognized players such as Chandra (GGBC) and Holvy De Pauw (Smash City), along with local favorites Arnold Setiadi (Smash City) and Daniel Gouw (GGBC). Other names will be announced as they confirm their participation!! Participants include the coaches, Elite students, and members of each club!! AND, admission is FREE!!

If this series becomes popular, we plan to open up the interclub competition to other clubs including both Northern and Southern California, and maybe begin a junior and/or senior series as well.

One of our members called GGBC to let us know that some of the people that live on this side of the Bay didn't know how to get to Smash City and they are interested to come see this event so we are going to provide the address here. Thanks!

If someone can video tape the matches and put in youtube or the 2 clubs' websites, that will be wonderful.

maybe someone from GGBC/SC will do it. Wayne has a killer videocam.

i will be busy taking photos instead. hopefully the arrangement of the courts and spectators will be spacious so there are enough space for photographers to move around... *hint* *hint*... ;)

NOOOOO!!!!:crying: I can't take part goodness! I'm like an "E" level player except they don't even have that level! I'd LOVE to watch though! It's so much fun when you KNOW all the players and even the spectators and it's inter-club and all that. For some reason it's much more intimate that way, you can chat with everyone, and really cheer like crazy, etc.... In HKG we have inter-club tourneys all the time. We have a GGBC team in HKG (Mike doesn't know ha ha) and we play between our clubs like Kowloon Tong against CCC, CRC against CCC, South China against CRC.. like that. It's tons of fun. Then everyone goes out for celebration CHOW after and we have lovely trophies too. Loser has to pay for them. Ha haa :p. Having these friendship tourneys is fun cos you get to learn alot of skills as it pushes you to play your best and under nerve racking conditions. You get to play different people under different circumstances.

But I know they will have a great Game in Smash City. You gonna come Drifit? Ha haa.. Hop on plane! I really think all the clubs should have more of these tourneys.

Me no be there I'm afraid.. boo hoo..:(:(:(. Me already gone from USA. But Me HEART is there with you and anyways, I break out in a sweat when I see them play. It's too much for me to watch. Let me know the outcome but I thought Wayne is going to tape it? I asked him to in his Smash City thread:cool:. I hope he will reply!

Hey Kwun. Take good photos!!! And don't complain about the LIGHT! :p:rolleyes: AND POST THEM HERE. AND DON'T TAKE SO LONG! :p:p:p hehhee...
