Hi Ants,

do you know how the 4 groups are formed based on the seedings?

i.e.
g1 g2 g3 g4
1 2 3 4
8 7 6 5
9 10 11 12 ?

That's for the Uber Cup. They have a chance of a SF finish, with good draws.

For the Thomas Cup, EVERY SEEDED TEAM will want to AVOID Team Korea now (5th seed)!

I hope Team INA (Thomas) will get Canada and New Zealand :D
The worst draw will be for Team INA to have Korea and Thailand/England in the Group. Japan is okay because our singles should handle them (despite the resurgence in their doubles).

I still think for Uber Cup Korea should be above Japan, and Malaysia not be seeded.

You don't want to be seeded, only to fall before semifinals. Though the chances are actually pretty even between teams seeded 2 to 9. With Korea's exception, only just below China.

Uber Cup: 1 China, 2 Japan, 3 South Korea, 4 Malaysia, 5 Indonesia, 6 Germany, 7 Denmark, 8 Hong Kong, 9 Netherlands, 10 New Zealand, 11 USA, 12 South Africa

Uber Cup Ideal Situation:
Japan, Indonesia, New Zealand

Worst Situation:
China, Indonesia, Netherlands

I think INA can still end up as runner-up, with a tough match against Netherlands if we are really drawn against them. The doubles SHOULD WIN both matches, with hopes that Pia or Nana can beat Rachel Van Cutsen.

Even though Uber Teams from Denmark beat Germany, and Korea defeated Japan, they are ranked lower than the defeated teams ...... does not make sense.

Lee Kyung Won/Lee Hyo Jung 4 vs Kumiko Ogura/Reiko Shiota 6
Ha Jung Eun/Kim Min Jung 16 vs Satoko Suetsuna/Miyuki Maeda 10

Similarly for Denmark vs Germany:

This is just what I mean, might as well just qualify, and not to bother about winning the qualifiers.

Easy now badmania. After all Canada is seeded a lofty 7. Which Einstein seeded them 7??:rolleyes: BTW, one of the young coaches from our club (RichmondPro) got selected to play for Canada in the TC ;):)

Really

Wow...ranked 7 out of 12 is NOT BAD INDEED! But, considering that u guys have Andrew Dabeka and Mike Beres/William Milroy (highly ranked in MD). How u guys ranked above Thailand, Germany and England are beyond me really :o

Yeah, Madbad is correct, one of his young coach (from Richmond Pro in Richmond, BC) has been selected by Badminton Canada to fill a vacancy in Team Canada and he is most likely be playing doubles with existing team member(aka ex doubles partner, younger coach from ClearTwo Badminton Centre) Towbsss. (aka bigger little badelbow, little badelbow is eager to join his bro)

Hi badelbow, it will be interesting to see if the Team Canada braintrust pair Alvin and Toby together since they're familiar each other's game.

On a larger scale, it's really exciting to be able to follow the TC this time. What a thrill for our players to be able to take on the big boys from CHN!

well well well, it's going to be fun.

TC

3 places in the semis are almost confirmed.

CHN vs MAS (i'm expecting MAS to beat either JPN/THA)
DEN vs INA/KOR (INA are unlucky to be drawn to play KOR in the QF, it could be tricky)

UC

most likely we'll be seeing:

CHN vs KOR
MAS/GER vs JPN/HKG

the 2 heavyweights are drawn in the top half, leaving the bottom half looking decidedly weak. CHN vs KOR would be a more fitting final than semi.

I know why Canada is ranked 7th.

Cos they've got Madbad, the former All-England PAWS champion, who does reasonably well in PAWS!!!

As I'm sure Azabaz's Swiss Open victory resulted in Malaysian Uber squad getting 4th seeding .....
