A Night to Remember for GGBC at Smash City!

Dear BC Friends!

Well.. we fought it out hard, and while we put in our best effort, but obviously not enough, GGBC must graciously accept defeat at Smash City.... All's well that ends well! :) We achieved Victory in both doubles games, but we lost all 3 singles games! Holvy was a brick wall for his singles GG opponent James Young, Chris and Arnold fought it out intensely but Arnold finally took the cake, and O-A came thrashing thru from his defeat in Bay Area open and really kicked up his game to beat our GG Igor who really sweat it out but good! Mike and Dan Gouw won their doubles games in 2 sets, but Chandra and Kamal had to weather 3 nail biting games to take home the big cherry! All in all, GGBC had alot of fun and it was a great experience. Alot of good friends and guests came to cheer on their favorite players and we all enjoyed the comeraderie expressed thru-out! SC ordered munchies in afterwards, cos I suppose everyone was too tired to go out to eat, and GG vowed to come back and overturn their loss next Inter-club tourney! Now GGBC is going to go home and start PRACTICING! And lifting weights! So.. with our results, we bid everyone a good night and hope to see you all come support us at the next INTER-CLUB tournament between GGBC, Smash City and we hope other clubs as well! Thank you for inviting us SC! We hope we can extend our invitation to you at GG courts for next round! HURRAHHHH!!!

Helloooo GGBC!! Thanks for bringing your GGBC All-Star Elites and the GGBC Entourage (your many many devoted fans) to Smash City! Our teams matched up well against each other and we saw some thrilling matches. And, most importantly, we developed a tighter friendship between the clubs and our players. It was nice to see us work together and promote the sport we love so much. I hope the other clubs will join in soon!

Thanks to the Smash City Dragons and the GGBC All-Star Elites for representing the fighting spirit of each club. I could really feel the excitement (and the frustration) from each of you while you played!!

Thanks to all those who came to watch and support the teams! So many fans that we completely filled our waiting area, exercise area and lined the sides and behind the official court!!

Thank you Kwun for using your organizational skills to finalize the lineup of both teams, the playing format, and play order! I look forward to seeing your photos SOON (no pressure, really!)

Lastly, thanks to Mike and Sally for making this event possible and successful. I spoke with Mike this morning and the next exhibition is already in the works! Stay tuned!!

OH Wayne!! I didn't have ANYthing to do with it! Just doing my job for Mike and GGBC and regular cheerleading work of course:p! Hey!! If you guys are called the Smashing Dragons, BTW, we are the GG ELITE TIGERS!! GROWL! hahaa.. :D GGBC is going back to sharpen their claws for next time! But did you VIDEO TAPE THE GAMES??? We'd like to see too. Gotta research our MOVES.

hi all,

i really enjoyed last night. it was awesome how the matches ended up with 2-2 and the winner had to be decided on the last match.

the audience turn out was excellent. all the stands were packed with audience from the start, in fact, the stands were not enough and many people chose to sit around the courts.

pics will be up tonight. after watching the match and chowing down on the FREE FOOD that Mike and Wayne bought us, my fingers started to twitch and had to go off and hit a few shots until 11pm. was so tired and didn't have the energy to touch the photos.

Hey Kwun,

Thanks for posting so fast! Well.. GGBC technically lost haaa.. haaa.. but I think they were all winners cos everyone had so much fun and all in the good of promoting badminton, and friendly competition. Both clubs are so excited at the prospect of the next "DUEL" :p so we'll be a posting here again when they "set the date". Do hope other clubs can join in eventually cos it would really raise the profile of badminton if friends tell friends to come and watch and be inspired to play etc.. Aiyooo...Did Wayne video tape it:rolleyes:???? If he does Kwun can you provide a link on here?
