You are right. Ranking is a reliable indicator. Occasionally they go off the course, but most than often they stay on to win, unless someone is on the downhill skid.

But, like today, it's obvious that Guo/Xie will never reach the scale of Jung/Lee or even Lee/Hwang for that matter. If not for the fact that China really doesn't have any more MD pair except Fu/Cai, Guo/Xie will already be split yet again (they were split once in 2006, with Guo Zhendong partnering Xu Chen, but to no avail).

And what the heck happens to Shen Ye now :eek: For once, I thought Shen Ye/He Hanbin are quite promising :cool:

It's easier to train singles players than doubles for one reason. Doubles partners have to stay together for long time, at meantime anything can happen to break the pair apart. Singles players have more glamor to it for the reason number two. And thirdly, I'm not sure people in China nowadays want their kids growing up to be a baddy player. It means hard work and uncertain future starting from very young. Why not go to school and have everything planned out (by the parents, of course).
