View Full Version : Swiss Open Day 4 - QF (14 Mar) chemile 03-13-2008, 06:29 PM Wowww.. very interesting in WS-QF, Chinese players vs Ex-CHinese players. Who will to be a winner? :) Xinguy 03-13-2008, 08:43 PM Wow ronald had beat nguyen yesterday i believe he will beat wacha today... badadum 03-13-2008, 09:20 PM Let's try this again....: MS: Lin Dan vs Sairul Amar Ayob: Ayoob has done very well, knocking out SDK and sending his veteran teammate WCH packing, but he won’t be able to go past the #1 seed. Super Dan to finish it in 2 sets. Bao Chunlai vs Taufik Hidayat: Bao bao hasn’t been tested in this tournament and his AE’s form is a bit questionable. Taufik is still rounding his form and stamina, but he would take advantage of Anup’s misfortune to draw a much needed reserve. TH win it in a rubber game. Ronald Susilo vs Przemyslaw Wacha: Ronald’s stamina has been tested playing back to back rubber game. Wacha hadn’t have much problem disposing 2 players from the qualifying round so it’s hard to gauge his performance (he did dispose of WCH easily in AE). Wacha wins it in rubber game Kenneth Jonasenn vs Lee Chong Wei: The aging Dane has once again fulfill his seed to reach Quarter Final and is eyeing opportunity to enter the top 4 of world ranking. But despite a somewhat shaky performance by MAS #1 shuttlers, excpect LCW to finish it in straight sets. X Ball 03-13-2008, 09:20 PM Wow ronald had beat nguyen yesterday i believe he will beat wacha today... Well done well done well done Ronald Susi-Loh You must have got some training from Singappore Loh You play well when you have a clue But absolutely terrible when you have the flu From here I hope you don't get eaten up like a McDonald Coz we only want to see you as the unbeaten Ronald badadum 03-13-2008, 09:35 PM MD: Xie Zhongbo/Guo Zhendong vs Lee Yong Dae/Jung Jae Sung: Despite a gift walkout by FYF/CH, the AE champ is still stronger and takes the game in somewhat tightly contested rubber set. Lee Wan Wah /Choong Tan Fook vs Mathias Boe/Carsten Morgensen: MAS uncles is victorious in a tightly fought rubber games against another oldie pair of LP/JR, while the Danish pair knocks out the oldest pair in the tournament. If MAS uncles can maintain the momentum, they’ll take it in two tight sets. Luluk Hadiyanto/Alvent Yulianto Chandra vs Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif/Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tahari: Luluk/Alvent seemd to be in form and hasn’t been troubled much in their two previous matches. Fuzzzy pair surprisingly knock out KKK/TBH (in straight sets nevertheless!) and does have favorable records against the INA pair. Expect a rubber game that can go either way, but Fuzzzy pair will have an advantage due to their win today. Tony Gunawan/Candra Wijaya vs Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan: The legendary pair seemed to have brush off whatever ailment that troubles them in AE and dispose both the AE semifinalist and finalist with relative ease. MK/HS pretty much destroy the ENG pair and looks set to regain their form and recent encounters seemed to favor them. Look for MK/HS to overpower their senior and win in straight sets. Loh 03-13-2008, 10:42 PM Well done well done well done Ronald Susi-Loh You must have got some training from Singappore Loh You play well when you have a clue But absolutely terrible when you have the flu From here I hope you don't get eaten up like a McDonald Coz we only want to see you as the unbeaten Ronald Thank you Poet X Ball for your delightful poem on Ronald's performance. :D Tribute to Ronald Susi-Loh Training Ronald I cannot Cheering Ronald I support Without Ronald Singapore vanishes From the SEA Games to the TC skirmishes For Ronald brought glory to adopted Singapore Japan Open, world ranking and many, many more The best was during the Athens Olympics When Lin Dan was bundled off without hysterics Ronald is not through yet I implore A few more good years still waiting in store So Ronald, Ronald I beseech Never give up, GO FOR IT! :):):):):):):) jasonmarc 03-13-2008, 10:43 PM MD: Tony Gunawan/Candra Wijaya vs Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan: The legendary pair seemed to have brush off whatever ailment that troubles them in AE and dispose both the AE semifinalist and finalist with relative ease. U might call this reason stupid...but for Team INA: they will rather let the players duke it out to find out who's the real winner because it will concern their future as well, esp with the new era of sponsors for individual player/pair. Unless the players are really injured, which are valid reasons, the coaches see no basis for walkovers in our case. I think he wont let KJ to win today badMania 03-14-2008, 12:37 AM BUT, if Flandy/Vita WIN today (still a big if, considering they have not played Clark/Kellogg before), then, they WILL edge out one of the Chinese pairs in their qualification for Olympics. Flandy/Vita: 68179+6420(-5039) for SF finish = 69560 Xie/Zhang: 66760+6420(-5040)+7000(-6420) = 68620 -- this is assuming Xie/Zhang win today and ALSO WIN the Badminton Asia Championships (if they take part in it). He/Yu (bigger chance of qualification): 64690+9200(-4800)+7200(-5040) = 71050 -- assuming He/Yu go on to WIN BOTH titles at the Swiss Open and India Open in early April. It's all about numbers at this point....:o badMania 03-14-2008, 12:46 AM Another WD match has yet to be scheduled today: Gao Ling/Zhao Tingting vs Du Jing/Yu Yang. I vote for Du Jing/Yu Yang to receive a free pass. jimbo 03-14-2008, 01:07 AM BCL vs Taufik: (60-40) Taufik is no where near his best, and BCL will chalk up with another win. I doubt Taufik could drag it to rubber  Susilo vs Wacha: (65-35) I have a feeling that Susilo will go far in Swiss. I'll take him beating Wacha in a straight but tight games. SINGAPORE BOLEH...!!! :p madbad 03-14-2008, 02:31 AM Agree with your analysis. Thanks :) badMania 03-14-2008, 03:23 AM Care to translate for the benefit of BC members. Thanks :) Headline: The after-effect of the AE Final: Due to waist injury, Zheng Bo decided to forfeit the match today (against He/Yu) for the sake of aggrevating further injury before the Olympics. To cut lots of writings about the results of yesterday's matches involving Chinese XD pairs, the journalist asked Zheng Bo whether his injury affected his performance in the match against Chen Hung-Ling/Chou Chia-Chi and Zheng Bo admitted to it, claiming that he never even smashed the bird in the first set (是跟我的伤有关系啊,我都没有杀球)。 That's why the scoreline was so close, with the Chinese pair winning it 22-20. Incidentally, his waist injury was almost similar to Chen Jin's and Zheng Bo even said that he wasn't even willing to play yesterday (腰受伤了,跟陈金的那个差不多,昨天晚上就不想打了)。 On whether this is an old or new injury, Zheng Bo claimed that this is a new injury, and was inflicted during the AE Final against Nova/Butet. In the second set, the INA pair forced Zheng Bo to retrieve a lot of shots which made his waist uncomfortable. Until now, he's still feeling some numbness and that hurts a lot! (ye333 might give a better translation than me here -- 新伤,以前我腰从来没有疼过,就是在全英赛决赛跟印尼的诺瓦/纳西尔他们打的时候伤的。第二局他们老让我后仰多,平的球多,腰挤得多。现在从臀部到腿麻,麻麻的感觉,疼 啊)。 When asked whether he felt bad about having to forfeit the match, Zheng Bo answered with a resounding NO. They had won too many titles anyway and he does not want the waist injury to affect his performance in the Beijing Olympics (弃权了会感到遗憾吗?不遗憾。拿了冠军拿太多,到奥运会的时候如果腰不行了) He further mentioned that their ranking points are enough for them to maintain their no 1 spot in XD, even if they do not participate in the last tournament (Badminton Asia Championships) (积分比他们(印尼的诺瓦/纳西尔)高太多了,之后的比赛都不打了也没有问题。我们的世界排名积分比他们高1万多分,这次全英又拿了( 冠军)就更高) . My comment on the last part: I think Zheng Bo is wrong in his information here. As of yesterday's ranking list, Nova/Butet are ranked no 1, above Zheng/Gao :o Even after excluding results from May-Jul 2007 (definitely not going to be counted for the seeding process), Nova/Butet's points (58300) are above Zheng/Gao (52900). It's possible that the INA pair could pipe the Chinese pair as the top-seed in Beijing. robin7 03-14-2008, 03:30 AM Care to translate for the benefit of BC members. Thanks :) It's an interview conducted to Zheng Bo after their win over the Taiwanese pair Chen/Chou. When asked why Zheng did not smash much against the Taiwanese pair as compared to All England last week, Zheng explained that he was affected by his "new" waist injury. The "new" injury was a "side effect" from the final of All England last week. Zheng also stated that they are ahead of the closest rival by more than 10000 points and it would be better for them to rest ahead of the Beijing Olympic. madbad 03-14-2008, 03:30 AM Headline: The after-effect of the AE Final: Due to waist injury, Zheng Bo decided to forfeit the match today (against He/Yu) for the sake of aggrevating further injury before the Olympics. However, they LOST the 18400 pts from last year's Malaysia and Korea Open titles, since they skipped both events early this year. That means their points also dropped by 18400, replaced by 10800 (from Singapore and China Opens QF). This contributed to -7800 pts loss for them. No, if you are defending champion, you tend to have a net loss if you fail to defend the title. If you did not participate, the old All-England points will be overwritten by the 11th best points haul, still a net loss. badMania 03-14-2008, 04:26 AM you mean they didn't have their points increased after winning AE2008? Points won for any tournament this year (including the AE and Swiss Opens) will substitute the one last year since last years' points will be dropped and replaced by the points gained for this year. Last week, Zheng/Gao were only ahead by 2000++ pts. However, they did not receive any extra points since they had to defend their AE title. If they lost last Sunday, their points will drop even further. Whereas, Nova/Butet had nothing to defend and received 7800 pts as runners-up. This will receive and replace the 5040 pts from Malaysia Open QF (their 10th best result) and so, they obtain 2760 additional points, which allow them to surpass Zheng/Gao. However, it was a different scenario with the Danes as veterans Jens Eriksen-Martin Lundgaard refused to bow out easily and stretched their compatriots, Mathia Boe-Carsten Mogensen all the way before exiting the Swiss Open. In fact, the contrasting wins has set many a tongue wagging amongst members of the media as a worrying trend is emerging with many withdrawals and walkovers whenever players from the same nationality take to court, heightened by the intense competition for Olympic Games qualifying points. So, now, even the BWF is beginning to get suspicious :o Hopefully, they WILL take some action. extremenanopowe 03-14-2008, 08:16 AM Taufik game shd be interesting. again see if he can tahan. stamina issue.
