Hey guys, after a long awaited, unbearing year, the badminton season for peel high schools is just around the corner? What are you guys playing this year (well what do you think you are going to play) ? What level (ie. junior or senior)? For what school? I can't wait to play badminton everyday. It seems that some schools may have already started. For our school, Turner Fenton, my coach said that we have to compete with basketball, volleyball for gym space, but this was the case last year too and there wasn't much of a problem. How is it for you guys?
Well for me I am from Turner Fenton. I am a junior and these are the possible disciplines for me this year (in order) 1. BD 2. MX 3. There's a really rare chance of me playing singles.

03-16-2008, 12:46 AM
Senior. Mens Doubles. John Fraser Secondary. My school's got that competiton for gym space as well. We've 3 practices in the morning and one in the evening per week. Rly annoying to wake up that early :(

03-17-2008, 05:20 PM
Lucky. Our school hasn't even started up the team. There's no word on the senior or junior tryout so far.
masson
03-18-2008, 02:58 PM
The senior team tryouts are tommorow @ 7 am. I am a junior, and I am gonna go jus for the sake of playing badminton. Most of my friends are telling me that tryouts for junior team are next week, but it is not confirmed. Hopefully they are. The first tournament is in april, that is pretty close. Anyways how bout you guys?
masson
03-19-2008, 02:52 PM
So Lincoln tourney is coming up. It is this wednesday. My coach said I can go (hopefully) cuz at the tryouts barely any1 went. Who else is coming to Lincoln Tourney?
masson
03-20-2008, 04:29 PM
C'mon guys. Trying to keep this thread alive. So who's coming to the tourney at Lincoln this coming Wednesday?
Smashis
03-21-2008, 01:36 AM
I guess noone... My school's hosting my tournament. John Fraser...
masson
03-21-2008, 08:06 PM
Isn't that for SW Senior Qualifiers? I am not goin to ROPSSAA for seniors cuz I still am a junior. Tryouts for junior are still not in another 2 weeks :'(
Ramster
03-22-2008, 02:22 AM
Yeah Im going to the Lincoln tourny this wednesday. Repping Gordon Graydon, playing mixed but really wanted to play singles =.= coach still experimenting with the team. We only had late practices, guess thats a good thing lol.

03-22-2008, 01:28 PM
Going to both Lincoln and Turner Fenton tournaments. Playing doubles @ lincoln and both doubles and singles at TF.
Oriental
03-27-2008, 11:25 AM
I supposely was suppose to play singles, but my retarded coach put me in doubles.
So therefore, I quit the team because of it, and you MUST where goggles this year, and there's no open.
masson
03-27-2008, 11:35 AM
Don't let the goggles prevent you from playing badminton. Sry you had to play doubles but, doubles is still pretty challenging. BTW any1 coming to the Turner Fenton Black and Silver Invitational Tournament, it 2nd and 3rd of April. My coach said you can play up to 3 divisions but not recommended cuz you will be exhausted.
Ramster
03-27-2008, 11:57 AM
Yeah Im going to be playing singles in that tourny! ^_^ (probably gonna get owned cause I aint that great lol) xD. Man the lincoln tourny was awesome. Goggles arent that big a deal...

03-27-2008, 04:06 PM
The lincoln tourney seriously had too much ppl in it, i was playing doubles and i had to wait 5 hours b/w my first and 2nd match.. well i did have a bye but thats not the point, normally having a bye would be a better thing coz we get to advance easily but having a bye here got my body to cool down so much that the first half of the first set was just horrible, couldnt even play until later on... unfornately i lost that first game to lincoln 2... and i swore i heard them call lincoln 6 once, did they have 6 teams in doubles??? there were already enough ppl there...
Anyways i lost my first game and went to cosellations but since i had a bye i went directly to the 2nd round of consellations so i had to wait extremely long for the 2nd match and hell i didnt even want to play anymore... i mean i sat there for 5 hours...
masson
03-27-2008, 05:48 PM
xkenji, what school did you play for? For me I too was playing BD, won the first match against Xavier (not sure if it was xavier cuz usually they have realy realy good ppl) and we beat em 2-0. 2nd match was against Gordon Graydon. The 2nd match was the highlight of the tournament for me. We won the first set, the other team took the 2nd one. Third set, the other team has a lead with 18-14 them. Then 19-15 (eeek), we finally caught up 19-19, then 20-19 us, 20-20, 21-20 them, 21-all, 22-21 them, 22-22, 22-23 us, and finally 22-24!!!! :D Third match - this is a very casual loss to Woodlands. No surprise since they are all club players. >.<
masson
03-27-2008, 05:51 PM
Oh I forgot. I too am playing singles in the Black and Silver Tourney. I could play all 3 but coach recommened 2, because it didn't work out at all for any1 that tried all 3. Decided to play BD and BS (boys singles and not b******t) but can't find a partner for BD. they are some new player who have power and all but no technique or strategy or placement idea at all. :'( So I might just volunteer on the day of the BD and play on the day on the MS. unless I find a partner

Ah, seems like a lot of people are coming to the Turner tournament as well. Hopefully it's not as crowded as the one at Lincoln. I swear, my team had to go under the bleachers every 2 seconds to pick up their lunch or water bottle...
Ramster
03-28-2008, 09:45 PM
LOL, our school just grabbed the bit of hallway outside the gym =] awesome spot.

So ramster are u coming to the tournament this year? Wait are u Tamil? lol and noones told me what racquet there using at the tournament yet.
masson
03-29-2008, 09:29 AM
At the Lincoln tourney I saw pplz using like $200 racquets (like the ns 9k, and mp 100) what a waste of money. I myself am using a Muscle Power 28 Control (got it brand new for $60). Since I am from turner this is what gonna happen. On Wednesday these 3 events will take place: Boys Doubles, Girls Singles, Girls Doubles. We have about 14 courts that we will be using. The 14 courts are split between two gyms. 8 courts in the North Hall Gym, and 6 Courts in the South Hall gym. I am gonna warn you guys that North Hall and South Hall isn't linked, they are two seperate buildings. So if you are moving in between North Hall and South Hall, be sure to keep your jacke and pants with you (it will be cold outside). And our bleachers are not gonna be like the ones at Lincoln. No stuff will fall under. On Wednesday I am actually in charge at the score table (you will be reporting your scores to me). And I am playing singles on Thursday. The fee for each event is $5 and we will be using the new flight system.
B3li3v3n
03-29-2008, 09:58 AM
Are you sure on Wednesday it's doubles and girl singles? My coach said Singles and mixed are ALL on Thursday...
masson
03-29-2008, 11:28 AM
Sry bout that you are rite B3li3v3n. So this is how it is: Wednesday - Boys Doubles, Girls Doubles. Thursday - Mixed Doubles, Boys Singles, Girls Singles.

If so then I wouldve have been there since I was "open" last year xD Actually wait a minute Im not sure anymore...Was there a guy from Pointforce there? (stringing rackets?) Yea the chinese guy u mean? i can't remmber if he was from that tournament but i do remember him. Neways im sure ill see u this year. Im playing doubles this year. And possibly singles for roppsa qualifying. So about the tournament...is there lots of place to sit and relax with your team at rick hansen? Is there places to roam? Or will it be cramped for space like most schools. Also the floors of the gym, are they like streetsvilles (never been cleaned in their life). Also lots of wait time inbetween games? Also side note for Ramster:
Thumbe, nenga doubles or singles?

Bout having two building, the way it works is that certain disciplines will be in the north/south hall gyms. So you don't have to keep switching back and forth for ure matches (unless they are the finals for which I think they tell you to come back to north)

How'd everyone do at Turner Fenton? Lol i placed 3rd in Flight C. We faced some insane guys first round and they beat us 21-14, 18-21, 21-18. Flight C were a bunch of amateurs and my partner fuked up everything in the semis by changing his raquet and playing with one hes never touched in his life. Results were disasterous
Ramster
04-02-2008, 08:29 PM
Im going tommorrow, my buddies came 2nd in flight c and they are saying the same thing lol, both flight c and b were lame. Flight A was STACKED O_O
masson
04-02-2008, 08:45 PM
Ramster were you using a MP21? Were you playing Boys Doubles? Were you wearing green shorts (doubtful bout this one)? Was you partner a very fair brown guy? So who's playing mixed or singles tomorrow?
xkenji
04-02-2008, 08:46 PM
some players in flight b were like much weaker than flight c players.... outr cpss 3 was in flight B and they made it to the quaters of that and both my team and cpss 2 could easily beat them 21-11. Besides flight A and maybe a few exceptions in flight B and C, most of the teams there werent all that great, but the ones that were good were quick crazy, lincoln 1 actually lost to another team in flight A.

Btw. who won the singles. Probably the guy from my school: Mike. He won Roppsa last year in doubles. We also had the Roppsa champion from two years ago on our team playing doubles this year. He had a cricket game so purposly lost so that he could leave. My teacher was really mad. LOL he's gonna get a temp suspension.

The top 2 in each event are pretty much decided (for MS, MD, and XD), srry to say. Don't know anything about WD and WS though.
MS top 2: Both from woodlands
MD top 2: a team from gordon graydon, and a team from john fraser, in some order.

Rick Hansen and Xavier are in my division so I'm kind of intimidated.
Which other schools in Central East should I watch for in MD?

there are no more wildcards, 8 division x 2 spots in each makes up the 16 entry draw for the finals.
and john cabot won because rick hansen had to forfeit due to injury for 2nd place in boys singles in central east
