Today, I clashed my racket with my partner's. 100% my fault. His forehand and my backhand. So I asked to see his racket because if it is cracked, I would reimburse him. However, only a paint chip. Anyways, I looked at the coding and noticed it was not normal. It was something like 026863SP. Anyways, what would you guys do? Break the news to him? If the clash caused a breakage, how much do you reimburse him?

if you know him well, just be straight up with him and let him know. or perhaps ask him where he got it from and the price he paid, you may be able to help him claim/return it if he paid the full price thinking it was a genuine racquet.

He just said his friend brought it back from Asia at a very good price. I think he knows its fake but not 100% sure. I've only played with him in two sessions.

ok, that's a tough call then. normally if it was someone in my club and i knew for sure that it was a fake, i'd just ask where they got it and let them know my suspicion that it's a fake. noone's had a heart attack as yet!

Ask him how much he bought for it last time, a fake shouldnt cost much

Breaking the racket during play is part of the game. I don't see why you need to reimburse him unless you break it intentionally. It is surprising to me that he would let you pay for his racket, fake or not.

As far as tell him that it is fake, I wouldn't do it because he'll think that you are being cheap and avoid responsibility. Maybe, you can tell him after he buys a new one and maybe he will realize his broken racket is fake by then (after he sees the price).

That's a hard one.. I'd try to prove him that it's fake.. firstly by the cone code, it must be JP.. SP/GR/IP/CD/US/etc racquets can be found nowhere in Japanese shops..

Yonex has built-in t-joint.
postmortem it. no t-joint inside, is fake......;)
as mention earlier, why need to reimburse if this just an accident??

It is not neccessary that fakes doesnt have built in T joint you know. If he really loves that racket.. might as well get a replacement for him. Ask him how much did he bought it for and just pass that much to him.

.....100% my fault. His forehand and my backhand. .Even so, it's part of the game. It even happens with the pros.

.... So I asked to see his racket because if it is cracked, I would reimburse him. ....Very generous of you but it's not needed. I think it's very rare for this to happen. If somebody tries to get you to pay, the answer is, "Why do you play doubles?"
