View Full Version : Prediction for Candra Wijaya/Nova Widianto in ABC 2008 Erwin Kyoto 04-13-2008, 02:14 AM Hey guys...how do you think the journey of Candra/Nova in ABC 2008...whether they have a chance play in the first round only or they can go to Final match...??:D:p:cool: jasonmarc 04-13-2008, 03:29 AM At least we have to wait for the draw....first.....before we able to predict.....maybe after 14/04/2008 huangkwokhau 04-13-2008, 04:41 AM Yep..lets see the draw first..if they meet KKK/TBH or Kor MD or any seeded one...tough to prevail......who knows they may meet their own teammates... Erwin Kyoto 04-13-2008, 05:27 AM ...Candra/Nova got Gold Medal of Badminton's Men Double in PON (National Games of Indonesia) 2004...I heard they trained together and prepare all things for ABC less than 1 week...really great if they would beat top pairs in this tournament but hope they not meet their own teammates early... jasonmarc 04-14-2008, 05:47 AM Chandra/Nova will have Ikeda/Sakamoto in 2nd round and Alvent/Luluk in QF....HJM/LJJ or CTF/LWW in SF..... They may reach QF...and lost to Alvent/Luluk....this is my prediction... Erwin Kyoto 04-17-2008, 09:16 AM Chandra/Nova will have Ikeda/Sakamoto in 2nd round and Alvent/Luluk in QF....HJM/LJJ or CTF/LWW in SF..... They may reach QF...and lost to Alvent/Luluk....this is my prediction... yeah..u right..:D:cool:...Nova/Candra have made the JPN pair packing early... but for QF match, I predict they can handle their teammate..and go to SF and Final match..let see.....:D:D:D crashandburn 04-17-2008, 09:18 AM yup, they will be in the Final....Nova/Candra or at least SF Dreamzz 04-17-2008, 09:23 AM hahaha, that's a bold statement. i personally think they are going to lose tomorrow, otherwise they should be INA's MD2 in the TC. Erwin Kyoto 04-17-2008, 09:33 AM yup, they will be inthe Final....Nova/Candra hehehe..I hope so...but let see whether Nova still can fight and have energy for QF MD after he must play hard in MixD match at 6.30 o`clock for keeping INA`s mission stopping Xie/Zawen win the title of ABC....I think MixD of INA vs CHN will take rubber games....so Nova just can take a rest for 2 hours before his MD match (at 9.10 o`clock)...:eek::(:( robin7 04-17-2008, 09:53 AM I think their journey will end tomorrow. reiko80 04-17-2008, 09:56 AM is it the same chandra with tony gunawan???? Erwin Kyoto 04-17-2008, 10:06 AM is it the same chandra with tony gunawan???? yes..it is the same Candra who always plays with Tony Gunawan in MD so far. george@chongwei 04-17-2008, 11:13 PM i have some bad feelings about them 2day:( george@chongwei 04-17-2008, 11:36 PM Candra-Nova out for a revival at the ABC FOUR years ago, Candra Wijaya and Nova Widianto combined to win Indonesia’s national men’s doubles title. Now, the 32-year-old Candra and Nova are trying to revive that partnership in a bid to add more depth to Indonesia’s doubles department for the Thomas Cup Finals, which will be held in Jakarta next month. The modest Candra admitted that Indonesia were trying out his scratch partnership with Nova in the ongoing Asian Badminton Championships (ABC) to see if they will be good enough for the Finals. “It is no secret that Indonesia are considering my partnership with Nova as one of the options for the Thomas Cup Finals. We hope to impress the selectors here as Indonesia will name the three men’s pairs for the Finals after this meet,” said Candra. Currently, the top three Indonesian pairs are world champions Markis Kido-Hendra Setiawan, Alven Yulianto-Luluk Hadiyanto and Joko Riyadi-Hendra Gunawan. Candra, who has been recalled by the All-Indonesia Badminton Association (PBSI) for the Finals, said that it was great to team up with two-time mixed doubles world champion Nova again. Candra will resume his usual partnership with US-based Tony Gunawan after completing his mission in the Finals. Sealman 04-17-2008, 11:36 PM i watched this pairing play last night and there seem to be a lack of understanding between candra and widianto. samuel882 04-17-2008, 11:44 PM Does Nova really got the stamina for endurance? No doubt he did win tripple yesterday. But the main aim of PBSI is to prevent Xie/Zhang from occupying the slot for CHINA in XD event. I think Nova/Butet can't win for XD event but Nova/Chandra can stroll pass luluk/alvent in MD ( provided if they doesnt have the same kinda syndrome as Tony/Chandra partnership in which they often lost to their teammates, that is still remain a misery ) crashandburn 04-18-2008, 09:04 AM Chandra/Nova will have Ikeda/Sakamoto in 2nd round and Alvent/Luluk in QF....HJM/LJJ or CTF/LWW in SF..... They may reach QF...and lost to Alvent/Luluk....this is my prediction... Word man...to those whoever doubted my prediction......:D:D:D Told you Chandra/Nova will make it... Dreamzz 04-18-2008, 09:24 AM hahaha, good call, close match as well, would be interesting to watch. Erwin Kyoto 04-18-2008, 10:18 AM ahaaa....most the BC`ers predict Nova/Candra just can reach QF....now the INA uncles through to SF....whether their journey will be stopped by the young Korean..let see... crashandburn 04-18-2008, 10:23 AM yup, they will be in the Final....Nova/Candra or at least SF Not me.....I still believe they will be in the Final...!!:D:D:D My prediction Final is INA uncles vs Korean Erwin Kyoto 04-18-2008, 10:34 AM ahaaa....most the BC`ers predict Nova/Candra just can reach QF....now the INA uncles through to SF....whether their journey will be stopped by the young Korean..let see... Hopefully he will recover quick enough for OG. CCM took quite a some time though...... abedeng 04-18-2008, 11:04 PM Pretty solid, Candra/Nova. Last night most of the crowd was behind them, and they didn't disappoint by beating their own teammates. Zero_Cool 04-19-2008, 11:46 AM Not me.....I still believe they will be in the Final...!!:D:D:D My prediction Final is INA uncles vs Korean Word.......so far...I am right from the beginning...!!!:D:D:D:D My final prediction is that Chandra/Nova winning in 3 sets ...word !!!:D:D Jagdpanther 04-19-2008, 12:06 PM Yes, and they will first face KOR pair, then their compatriots. They should go all out in the first one! jimbo 04-19-2008, 12:06 PM After watching them against the Korean pair, I must say that this combination is better than Chandra+Tony . It's hard to predict if they will win in the final, but it's gonna be nail bitting game that goes down the wire. Whoever wins, I'm sure it will be a good match tmr :) crashandburn 04-19-2008, 12:10 PM INA uncles to win in the FINAL if they can do it in 2 sets....should it be 3 sets....then i think anyone can win.....! Hmm... I must say it's speed. Nova is fast at the front court, I think he is lightning fast  The main concern for tmr final is that he has to play in both XD and MD :crying: So... :p Erwin Kyoto 04-19-2008, 12:25 PM INA uncles to win in the FINAL if they can do it in 2 sets....should it be 3 sets....then i think anyone can win.....! Little kinks here and there but can be improved with more time together. Nova should cut down his errors. ex. smashing out. fancy lifting robin7 04-20-2008, 02:16 AM The Indonesian uncles couldn't cope with the speed and power by the Korean boys. Good effort though for reaching the finals. jasonmarc 04-20-2008, 03:19 AM Uncles....are actually played well lately........likes CW/NW, CW/TG....CTF/LWW.....and CCE/CCM.... all uncles...still a force in today's badminton MD... limsy 04-20-2008, 03:38 AM Uncles....are actually played well lately........likes CW/NW, CW/TG....CTF/LWW.....and CCE/CCM.... all uncles...still a force in today's badminton MD... ya...totally agree... george@chongwei 04-20-2008, 08:18 AM Uncles....are actually played well lately........likes CW/NW, CW/TG....CTF/LWW.....and CCE/CCM.... all uncles...still a force in today's badminton MD... yeah, dont forget the uncles from denmark too..:):) aahha they played a very well badminton these days..:) example: JE/MLH, LP/JR jimbo 04-20-2008, 09:29 AM I was there to witness the best match of the Final day. Chandra/Nova did very well and played their normal speedy n powerful game. Nothing wrong with their strategy nor performance. On the other hands, the Koreans were solid in defence. They simply returned all the thunderstorm smashes by the INA. All in all, the better defence pair won the MD title. Watch out CHN and INA pairs, the Kimchis will be the hot favorite for the OG08 MD GOLD :) No worry, Chandra is still my fav double specialist :D huangkwokhau 04-20-2008, 03:58 PM No regret...they did well despite losing...ha tae Kwon came by and said " Thank you" to Candra..hehe...Candra pretended not to be happy and refused shaking hands...Candra and Ha Tae Kwon are good friend actually... Candra and Tony will have exhibition in Malaka next week and will play Rexy/Ricky.... Then Tony will stay in Indonesia for 2 months... Whoever comes to Jakarta for Thomas Cup, we will have a chance to meet him.... cooler 04-20-2008, 05:53 PM I was there to witness the best match of the Final day. Indeed...Ha Tae Kwon is a friendly chap. I remembered having a short chat with him during the HK Open 2007, together with Flandy. They were good friends off the court. Seriously, Ha has transformed Jung/Lee from a contender into a favorite now...tough for Kido/Hendra to beat them now...:o:mad: robin7 04-20-2008, 11:59 PM u think fu and cai stayed home to watch cartoons? why should lyb reveal his weapons so soon? btw, it's candra, not chandra. Now the Korean golden pair is the pair to beat. LYB and the coaches will study their play inside out by playing their videos over and over again. True, it's Candra not Chandra, Flandy not Flendy or Flandi!:p |
