Yep..lets see the draw first..if they meet KKK/TBH or Kor MD or any seeded one...tough to prevail......who knows they may meet their own teammates...

...Candra/Nova got Gold Medal of Badminton's Men Double in PON (National Games of Indonesia) 2004...I heard they trained together and prepare all things for ABC less than 1 week...really great if they would beat top pairs in this tournament but hope they not meet their own teammates early...

Chandra/Nova will have Ikeda/Sakamoto in 2nd round and Alvent/Luluk in QF....HJM/LJJ or CTF/LWW in SF.....

They may reach QF...and lost to Alvent/Luluk....this is my prediction...

FOUR years ago, Candra Wijaya and Nova Widianto combined to win Indonesia’s national men’s doubles title.
Now, the 32-year-old Candra and Nova are trying to revive that partnership in a bid to add more depth to Indonesia’s doubles department for the Thomas Cup Finals, which will be held in Jakarta next month.
The modest Candra admitted that Indonesia were trying out his scratch partnership with Nova in the ongoing Asian Badminton Championships (ABC) to see if they will be good enough for the Finals.
“It is no secret that Indonesia are considering my partnership with Nova as one of the options for the Thomas Cup Finals. We hope to impress the selectors here as Indonesia will name the three men’s pairs for the Finals after this meet,” said Candra.
Currently, the top three Indonesian pairs are world champions Markis Kido-Hendra Setiawan, Alven Yulianto-Luluk Hadiyanto and Joko Riyadi-Hendra Gunawan.
Candra, who has been recalled by the All-Indonesia Badminton Association (PBSI) for the Finals, said that it was great to team up with two-time mixed doubles world champion Nova again.
Candra will resume his usual partnership with US-based Tony Gunawan after completing his mission in the Finals.

i watched this pairing play last night and there seem to be a lack of understanding between candra and widianto.

Does Nova really got the stamina for endurance?
No doubt he did win tripple yesterday.
But the main aim of PBSI is to prevent Xie/Zhang from occupying the slot for CHINA in XD event.
I think Nova/Butet can't win for XD event but Nova/Chandra can stroll pass luluk/alvent in MD ( provided if they doesnt have the same kinda syndrome as Tony/Chandra partnership in which they often lost to their teammates, that is still remain a misery :rolleyes:)

i think they did really well considering they were paired because TG can't play in the OG. Little kinks here and there but can be improved with more time together. Nova should cut down his errors. ex. smashing out. fancy lifting

The Indonesian uncles couldn't cope with the speed and power by the Korean boys. Good effort though for reaching the finals.

I was there to witness the best match of the Final day. Chandra/Nova did very well and played their normal speedy n powerful game. Nothing wrong with their strategy nor performance.

On the other hands, the Koreans were solid in defence. They simply returned all the thunderstorm smashes by the INA.

All in all, the better defence pair won the MD title.

Watch out CHN and INA pairs, the Kimchis will be the hot favorite for the OG08 MD GOLD :)

Indeed...Ha Tae Kwon is a friendly chap. I remembered having a short chat with him during the HK Open 2007, together with Flandy. They were good friends off the court.

Seriously, Ha has transformed Jung/Lee from a contender into a favorite now...tough for Kido/Hendra to beat them now...:o:mad:
