Up next will probably be the 3rd Japanese pair of Aki Akao/Tomomi Matsuda. Pemuda 04-16-2008, 08:34 PM watched the highlight...malaysia boleh...malaysia got bright future in mixed double... I'm looking for the video clip of the NguyenTienMinh_vs_LinDan match. I would appreciate if somebody could share the clip if you have... Also other matches of this tournament would be great. Thanks, Hieu. badMania 04-16-2008, 10:22 PM another INA WD (Rani/Endang) looks like have hard figthing againts JAPAN WD...unfortunately no visual livescore...:crying: No luck as always against Japan's no 2 WD pair as they lost 21-23, 14-21 for the third time (twice last year). Rani/Endang really have a bad record against Nippon gals. They have lost 3 times to Kumiko Ogura/Reiko Shiota in this year alone. The sole victory was over Aki Akao/Tomomi Matsuda (Japan's no 3 pair) in the India Open 2 weeks ago. badMania 04-16-2008, 10:25 PM As expected, Nova Widianto/Candra Wijaya won easily 21-4, 21-12 in their first match. They will face Shuichi Sakamoto/Shintaro Ikeda [7] in R16. What a tough match that will be :o Birdwood 04-16-2008, 10:32 PM Hi all, I'm Vietnamese... They will surely sail through to the QF as their opponent tonight (a Vietnamese pair) should be easier to handle. eaglehelang 04-16-2008, 10:38 PM Looks like MD round 1 is a 'competition' of who can finish the match faster. Looking at the score (21-0, 21-0), I can imagine that the pair is playing with rackets they bought from Carrefour at RM19.90 :D Honestly, even if i play against LCW, i think i still manage to get 1 "consolidation" point :p (aiya, later buy him 10 sticks satay lor... ) Loh 04-16-2008, 11:40 PM Wah, 1st time ever, really can happen, 21-0, 21-0. Poor Turkish players, might as well give walkover. Yes, I also noted that our new pair of Singapore girls, Shinta Mulia Sari and Yao Lei gained a perfect score of 21-0, 21-0 against Turkmenistan's (must be one of the former Russian satellite states) Valeriya Efremova and Violetta Shtyrova in just 10 min. Surprising that the girls did not even make a mistake in service! This is a very rare occasion indeed! CLELY 04-16-2008, 11:45 PM Wah, 1st time ever, really can happen, 21-0, 21-0. Poor Turkish players, might as well give walkover. Yeah, the unbelievable score! It means Shinta/Yao Lei didn't make any single unforced error in whole match to give 'free' point to Turkmen pairs. Very rare condition... madbad 04-16-2008, 11:45 PM No MDV : Maldives (Africa), my favourite Island ;) Uncle Sam, I think you've got the Maldives (ASIA) confused with Madagasar (AFRICA). Isn't the Maldives somewhere off India or Myanmar? Which begs the question, where actually have you been vacationing? :D:D:D perunce 04-16-2008, 11:46 PM i felt pity to the turkish as well, at least should give some consolidation points. now started the more interesting women single matchs, good luck to Malaysian WS, i hope all of them can proceed to quarter final tomorrow Birdwood 04-16-2008, 11:46 PM Looks like MD round 1 is a 'competition' of who can finish the match faster. So far is 13 min, Vietnam vs MDV(Arab?). No MDV : Maldives (Africa), my favourite Island ;) MDV stands for the Republic of Maldives, located in Indian Ocean. "The Maldives is the smallest Asian country in terms of population. It is also the smallest predominantly Muslim nation in the world." according to Wikipedia. madbad 04-16-2008, 11:46 PM wow, the singaporean pair bullied the Turkmenistan pair!!!!:( Perhaps the Tukmenisan pair played with their left hands and legs tied together :D:D. Surprising that the girls did not even make a mistake in service! This is a very rare occasion indeed! It's not that hard really for the error and service part. If the opponent are way below class and do not know how to intimidate, then you can cut down every risky low net serve and play safe clear to wait for opponent to make error instead. And most importantly you have the "confident", then the execution will be almost perfect. Anyway the name Shinta sound like Japanese. lol Birdwood 04-17-2008, 12:05 AM First major upset of the day: Yanjiao Jiang (Chn) won over Eriko Hirose (Jpn) [4], 21-10, 21-12. zqloy 04-17-2008, 12:07 AM Wah, 1st time ever, really can happen, 21-0, 21-0. No. They should be applause for their sportsmanship and courage. I think the opponent should let the losing pair win a few points under such circumstances to encourage players of TKM and other countries from quitting baddy altogether. Not sure if or how this has been done by player(s) in the past, but not happening here in ABC  Birdwood 04-17-2008, 12:23 AM TKM for Turkmenistan, and TUR for Turkey. badMania 04-17-2008, 12:26 AM First major upset of the day: Yanjiao Jiang (Chn) won over Eriko Hirose (Jpn) [4], 21-10, 21-12. Birdwood 04-17-2008, 12:32 AM I won't call it an upset :o Jiang used to be ranked in the top 4 before she slid down the ranking table. Thanks for the correction, I wasn't sure before. We should call it Jiang's resurgence... badMania 04-17-2008, 12:40 AM Thanks for the correction, I wasn't sure before. We should call it Jiang's resurgence... Jiang Yanjiao won the Denmark Open 2006 and BAC 2007 previously. She was ranked no 6 (not 4, my mistake) this time last year. Dato Asbullah 04-17-2008, 12:44 AM Yes, I also noted that our new pair of Singapore girls, Shinta Mulia Sari and Yao Lei gained a perfect score of 21-0, 21-0 against Turkmenistan's (must be one of the former Russian satellite states) Valeriya Efremova and Violetta Shtyrova in just 10 min. Surprising that the girls did not even make a mistake in service! This is a very rare occasion indeed! Nothing to be proud of it. :( Since you have secure the winning in the game, why dont u give some ''encourage points'' to the opponent? I personally think that sg pair's perfect winning over Turkmenistan's pair are without sportsmanship. badMania 04-17-2008, 12:49 AM Matches involving Team INA in the evening and night session: Mixed Doubles R16 Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir [1] vs Hwang Ji Man/Kim Min Jung -- a tough match for Nova/Butet....hopefully they take this one! Hendri Kurniawan Saputra/Li Yujia vs Mohd Rijal/Greysia Polii -- Grace is fresh and they should have a chance of beating SIN no 1's pair. Chen Hung-Ling/Chou Chia-Chi vs Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa [4] -- the first of two possible CT pairs to face in the route to the Final. If they play normally, I think Flandy/Vita should prevail. Anggun Nugroho/Endang Nursugianti vs V. Diju/Jwalla Gutta -- Endang will be free to concentrate on XD now as she lost her WD match earlier. Anggun's experience will probably be helpful to beat the unpredictable Indian pair. Men's Singles R16 Chen Jin [4] vs Simon Santoso [4] -- a preview of possible Thomas Cup encounter later next month. Chen Jin to win...but I hope Simon can surprise us. Hsieh Yu-Hsin vs Sony Dwi Kuncoro [5] -- shouldn't be too big a problem for Sony to reach yet another QF. Women's Doubles R16 Vita Marissa/Lilyana Natsir [4] vs Aki Akao/Tomomi Matsuda -- stamina might be a factor as both Vita and Butet are involved in an earlier match. A tricky one too..but I think Vita/Butet have an edge. Yao Lei/Shinta Mulia Sari vs Jo Novita/Greysia Polii -- likewise for Jo/Grace, they should secure their ticket to Beijing with another QF finish here. Men's Doubles R16 Luluk Hadiyanto/Alvent Yulianto [4] vs Duong Bao Duc/Pham Cao Hieu -- should be a breeze for Luluk/Alvent. Shuichi Sakamoto/Shintaro Ikeda [7] vs Nova Widianto/Candra Wijaya -- a huge match for Nova/Candra....but I don't think they can beat Park Joo Bong's mens. Hendra A. Gunawan/Joko Riyadi vs Jung Jae Sung/Lee Yong Dae [2] -- another huge match for AG/Joko...and probably another early exit yet again. Dato Asbullah 04-17-2008, 12:52 AM Looking at the score (21-0, 21-0), I can imagine that the pair is playing with rackets they bought from Carrefour at RM19.90 :D Honestly, even if i play against LCW, i think i still manage to get 1 "consolidation" point :p (aiya, later buy him 10 sticks satay lor... ) It's ''consolation'' not ''consolidation'':D:D:D An expensive rackets can produce good results? Or u just simply look down on the goods that r sold in CARREFOUR and the TKM'S PAIR? badMania 04-17-2008, 12:59 AM Wang Lin made it 2 out of 2 for the Chinese WS as she just edged out Cheng Shao Chieh 21-16, 19-21, 22-20. What a match.... madbad 04-17-2008, 12:59 AM Latest: Lin Wang over Shao Chieh Cheng [5] 21-16 19-21 22-20 Hmmm.... sadly, the score shows Wang Lin has not improved much recently. Most CHN players would have won more comprehensively. leonardklh 04-17-2008, 01:02 AM common wong mew choo.. score so long.. should be rubber set... Birdwood 04-17-2008, 01:04 AM Lin Wang (Chn) won over Shao Chieh Cheng (Tpe) [5]: 21-16, 19-21, 22-20, in a close match. I refrained from using the word: "upset" this time :) leonardklh 04-17-2008, 01:04 AM wong mew choo vs china wang lin tomorrow... Pemuda 04-17-2008, 01:07 AM Looking at the score (21-0, 21-0), I can imagine that the pair is playing with rackets they bought from Carrefour at RM19.90 :D Honestly, even if i play against LCW, i think i still manage to get 1 "consolidation" point :p (aiya, later buy him 10 sticks satay lor... ) I will play you with a racquet from Carrefour and will still give you a run for the money. ;) badMania 04-17-2008, 01:08 AM Wong Mew Choo made it home after a tough 19-21, 21-15, 21-16 victory over Porntip Buranaprasertsuk. samuel882 04-17-2008, 01:10 AM What a tournament. First day there was an IRAQIS player disqualified And today there is a unbelievable scoreline 21-0, 21-0 for Turkeminstan Lady Coming up next ? jimbo 04-17-2008, 01:16 AM I will play you with a racquet from Carrefour and will still give you a run for the money. ;) Are you sure, my fellow teranganu fren?:D I'll take up the challenge  Pemuda 04-17-2008, 01:21 AM Are you sure, my fellow teranganu fren?:D I'll take up the challenge  Sure whether I can beat you?? Respectfully not sure la. But I think I can give you a run for the money. Even if you beat me, I dont think I be looking at a 15-0, 15-0 (sorry I prefer the old system) bashing. Pemuda 04-17-2008, 01:22 AM What a tournament. Most CHN players would have won more comprehensively. u should give more credit to the taiwanese player:) vching 04-17-2008, 01:26 AM poor girls... Singaporean girls should at least give them 5 consolation points each game... Most players would do so... If it was me, I would feel uncomfortable and bad if I did that to my opponents. madbad 04-17-2008, 01:35 AM u should give more credit to the taiwanese player:) I really don't think CSC is anywhere near an elite player on this circuit. She showed promise as a junior (World Champ) but many players have since passed her. Cheng, very much like Wang Lin, has stagnated and become very ordinary. I expected more from Wang, being from the CHN player conveyor belt, but I fear if she continues to struggle like this, she will be ruthlessly replaced. CLELY 04-17-2008, 01:36 AM Latest: Lin Wang over Shao Chieh Cheng [5] 21-16 19-21 22-20 Hmmm.... sadly, the score shows Wang Lin has not improved much recently. Most CHN players would have won more comprehensively. Yeah, so tight scoreline despite TPE's Cheng isn't weak shuttler. Looks like this Chinese pretty girl performance doesn't show positive trend since she won China Masters 2006, Wang Yihan is more capable than her. Against local fave Wong Mew Choo, seems her journey will find an end tomorrow although Wong didn't play her best to overcome unknown Thai player at second round match. pjswift 04-17-2008, 01:37 AM don't worry, BP hates to meet LCW, 30/70... Agree with you. LCW has less trouble playing familiar, high-end opponents.I would prefer BP to win this time though unlikely. Against local fave Wong Mew Choo, seems her journey will find an end tomorrow although Wong didn't play her best to overcome unknown Thai player at second round match. You are definitely on track with Wang Yihan. I think she'll be fast tracked into the senior team. If she doesn't work out, hey, there are many more from where she came. Tomorrow is where Wang Lin (yes, she's cute :p) meets her end. All WMC needs to do is outlast her. Wang Lin's stamina will pack it in sooner or later. pjswift 04-17-2008, 01:46 AM I really don't think CSC is anywhere near an elite player on this circuit. I believe CSC played too much in tournaments. Some tourneys, she competes in WS, WD and XD!Hard to understand TPE thinking. It's like CSC has to be kept busy to win? Well ,the results have shown otherwise.Don't remember her playing just WS.Isn't WS enough work just to win a title? Birdwood 04-17-2008, 01:48 AM Agree with you. LCW has less trouble playing familiar, high-end opponents.I would prefer BP to win this time though unlikely. Just hope they are in different halves of the OG08 draw. I am not sure to consider BP as "high-end". He seemed to be not on par with TH. Well ,the results have shown otherwise.Don't remember her playing just WS.Isn't WS enough work just to win a title? They should definitely let her concentrate on Singles. She's not a big girl and I suspect will wear down badly if she continues to play WD and XD. An injury could be just waiting to happen. As far as her results go, yeah, it's disappointing to say the least. Let's hope the TPE badminton heads can figure it out. Not sure if or how this has been done by player(s) in the past, but not happening here in ABC  Well this is not a social game. This is ABC with Olympic qualifying points. Professional players are trained to win every point if possible and not to make unforced errors. Once they take it easy and lose their guard and concentration ..... The coach will be watching! ;) Granted the Turkeminstan girls must be quite raw and maybe not exposed at this high level, but it is a learning process for them. At least they know if they were to be more serious as national players, they need to put in more hard work. This loss may motivate them to play better next time. :) jasonmarc 04-17-2008, 02:19 AM jason, your job 2day is to keep counting the nuber of upsets ok/? hajhahaa OK...shd we consider Wang lin and JYJ wins as upsets........? jasonmarc 04-17-2008, 02:21 AM Wah, 1st time ever, really can happen, 21-0, 21-0. I personally think that sg pair's perfect winning over Turkmenistan's pair are without sportsmanship. I wouldn't classify this as "un" sportsmanship. If they don't shake hands after the match, then it is unsporting. These players are professional players trained to win every point. By eating the "duck eggs (21-0, 21-0)", the turkish pair could be demoralised and never ever recover their confident. Worst if they totally gave up the sport they both once loved. Looking at the score, there was NO WAY the Turkish pair would win the match, and therefore, the SG pair was in NO DANGER of losing it. I hope this "unjudgemntal" score would not irritate the SG pair's next opponent to seeking for "justice". Very good! ;) badMania 04-17-2008, 05:06 AM Over at the EC 2008, Kenneth Jonassen (the main attention there) also marches on to R16 after an easy 21-6, 21-8 victory over Henri Hurskainen. He will face Erwin Kehlhoffner or Kestusis Navickas later tonight for a place in the last 8. Shouldn't be a problem for him. ctjcad 04-17-2008, 05:08 AM So, u r going? I'm still looking for a driving partner coz I have never driven to JB alone. ..abedeng's HP no.?..;) jimbo 04-17-2008, 05:09 AM Wah, jimbo, now an expert already - very well prepared to meet us at Kranji MET this Sat morning! Now going to college. You can ask her abt it when you see her. He he, KKK/TBH let their 1st round opponent get 6 pts per game, total 12 pts. That's Msia. Vietnam MD trashed Maldives with total 6 pts, 3 pts per game. Aiya Eagle..I think you got the wrong person.. eaglehelang 04-17-2008, 05:11 AM Jimbo & Loh, sori, sori, I re-checked the posts (while waiting for results), the BCer who played competitively is Joanne NOT Jessica. Got the worng "J", he he. Both took SPM, so me thought it's Jessica. The posts were in "Junior Badminton" thread. Yeah Jessica, sori, me flew to check again, is someone else. limsy 04-17-2008, 05:11 AM I also watched the highlights but I do not think our young XDs are good. Dont forget that they were playing against "decent" XD pairs  I'm more impressed with TCS as he beat Kendrick Lee from SG. Very good result from our youngster. Msia Boleh...!!! i not saying the young pair...i saying kkk-gly and wpt-lkw...i will say,i dont think any new pair(senior+junior) of mixed double can win 36/37 points when they first meet against the world top 4...right??? jimbo 04-17-2008, 05:12 AM Aiya Eagle..Not state level lar..Just some school tournaments and i am lucky to win it..I am still far behind professional level..:rolleyes: Come to SG and I'll bring u to play with my kaki at Serangoon :) eaglehelang 04-17-2008, 05:24 AM i not saying the young pair...i saying kkk-gly and wpt-lkw...i will say,i dont think any new pair(senior+junior) of mixed double can win 36/37 points when they first meet against the world top 4...right??? No wonder Rexy said they want to Msia to give challenge in XD for 2012 OG. Now experiment with pairs. KKK is to help KKK " to relax & ease into the tournament". Also for the juniors to gain experience when partnered with seniors. In WC 2006, KKK/WPT won the unexpected bronze - they hardly train together. The way Rexy sound like in future KKK will also play XD. But I dont think Lim KW will be permanent with WPT. WPT is already 26 or 27 this year. Khim wah only 19, but if Hui Lin is permanently quitting the sport, then they have to find new partner for him. zqloy 04-17-2008, 05:28 AM No wonder Rexy said they want to Msia to give challenge in XD for 2012 OG.
