tenjinspen 04-23-2008, 09:30 AM Season Passes :
Adult - S$38
Senior Citizen - S$18
Student - S$18
Any got any idea what does Season Passes mean in this case? Does it imply the same thing as those Season passes for amusement parks whereby one can attend all the matches held in Aviva Open Singapore 2008?
Pardon for my ignorance.
extremenanopowe 04-23-2008, 09:35 AM I think so.
Anyway, if you are keen to get in for free, you can try to volunteer to be a liaison officer or linesman. Call SBA, maybe they may have openings. Good luck! Dun forget to get me a free pass ya. hehe.
Also I wonder if the big guns are coming since the Olympics are close. Better to put it to year end where all the top guns can come. If they don't come, it'll be a waste. Some may not go all out. More of spying job.

yeah. I too have the same sentiment. Looking at the match bet Lin Dan and chen Jin where Lin Dan purposely lost to chen jin at the Asian Badminton Championship so that chen jin can qualify for the olympic 2008 , we know that such matches has lost a great deal of its meaning :(

Er, I don't get it!
Yesterday, I bought four Season Passes online (through the sistic portal).
The regular passes were SGD 53.00 each ($50 for the pass + $3 booking fee).
The seniors' passes were SGD 13.00 each ($12 for the pass + $1 booking fee).
So, why are the rates you guys have mentioned so different?

You're right.
Sitting closer is a necessity, not a premium :o
Fading eyesight... getting old, you know!

hehee.. good idea... but i think watching the match without using binocular is much better! ;)

Wah, Oldhand, you got the high class tickets; just behind the VIP seats. That's the area where you don't have to be early and the seats will be there for you.And top security, so you'll be safe.May i let you in on a secret. You can break the biggest rule there:Use flash photography!!!And the security would close both eyes.Lucky you.
But the lower levels may not be the best seats visually because of blockage by line judges, etc. Soundwise, it's probably the best,so maybe you can let us know what's the friction duration when LD makes his dive, especially to create a much needed towel break.

I will prefer to sit higher....lower level seats, as u mentioned, will be too low for me....due to the blockages.

Well, the tickets just arrived in the mail :)
They are for Block A11 to A17 (The sistic site has the layout).
I don't understand the part "just behind the VIP seats"
The venue chaps tell me A11 to A17 is the closest to the courts one can get.
Also, if I remember correctly from last year, the VIP seats are on the opposite side.
PS: I don't know how secure we'll be against "flying racquets" :p

No less :(

Here's the official word on this:
No Photography, Video recording and Audio recording is allowed for this event!
Last year, the ban was only on 'Flash Photography' :(

Unofficially, rules are meant for non VIPs, to be broken by VIPs.Don't you get extra privileges for paying $50? That's 2.5x my ticket.
Anyway, just tell them you're BCF mod, that's more VIP. If security doesn't know, ask them to check with AViVA, which they are unlikely to wanna check?
Noridayu 04-28-2008, 06:13 PM Are we allowed to bring in Video Cameras into the Indoor Stadium?
As what I know that they did not allowed to bring in video cameras into the stadium.

I don't think you're allowed to do any filming. However, u can try to bring ur laptop equiped with Viewcam coz i dun remember it falls in the range of any forbidded devices.
I just bought a total of 6 tickets (Season Pass) for $114 (($18+$1) x 6). Each pass was ridiculously charged with an additional of $1 for booking, not to mention that the purchase of 6 tickets was in one single transaction and I went down personally to buy the tickets instead of utilizing their e-commerce system. I suppose SISTIC has an unreasonable way of implementing charges when it shld have given discount for those who buy more than a specified number of tickets.

The extra privilege is the opportunity to sit nearer the action :p
Last year, just about anyone with a handycam was recording the matches :)
My camcorder, unfortunately, is not the inconspicuous sort... it doesn't stand a chance of not being spotted :(
In any case, recording the broadcasts makes for better quality and easier sharing :p
Now, if I had one of those team T-shirts, I could pass myself off as a team member... and then, a camcorder is unlikely to be pounced upon or be barred ;)
abedeng 04-29-2008, 04:50 AM Interesting, this no video recording rule. Do the "Don't play play" Singapore authorities plan to confiscate all video cams brought by the teams?

Reminds me of Colin Chapman's quote, "Rules are for the interpretation of wise men, and for the adherence of foolish men".
