Gladius mate,

Thanks a zillion for updating all of us but i want to know how much would your Sg yonex agent charge for Cab 20 Tour (green). I get it here for abt 2100RS. That is abt 80Sg max.

Thanks mate!

Thanx for the list! It really helps. By putting together this list and some of my own, I have come to the conclusion that the Yonex T-10 is the most populer racquet among professional players! I thought that it would have been the Yonex MP 77.

Do you know if they use 3U or 2U for each kind?

Now that's a tough one. You'll really have to lay your hands on their rackets or get it from the horses' mouth to know the answer ... :p

But point to note is that, the Ti-10 is one of the rackets that some of the players have tried but not use on a permanent basis.

The 2 Indonesian pairs, use the MP series quite exclusively for at least 4 or 5 tournaments that I have seen them play either live or on TV. I've yet to see them use the Ti-10.

Dai Yun, for one uses the MP-100 rather than the Ti-10 as previously recorded.

Gong Zhichao switched between the Ti SP sr and the Ti-10 between the 2 tournaments that I saw her play of late. So don't really know what she prefers.

The best price I got from them?

SG$60. The Carbonex 20 Tour SP. 2UG4, with thermal bag.

I've not contacted them for a while, heard they may not be entertaining such calls again. It was actually through Blitz. Not my direct contact. But it ended up that I was the one who bought the most rackets from the contact ...

3 x Carb 20 Tour SP, ISO 900ss, Ti-10 and to date about 8 tubes of AS-30 and AS-40 shuttles for myself as well as my friends. The complete purchase to date amounted to about 40 tubes of shuttles. I won't be shopping for a racket in a while as I'm very happy with my current lot already, so I probably get in touch with them. But I could ask Blitz as there is a small chance that there will be other orders from his friends and it may be possible to tag along if the link is still alive..

Man the best guy to answer your question is Cheung! I think Teh cab 20 tour is teh best offensive Oval racket that i haev played with!

It is like Ti 10 in oval rackets! There are no rackets that are close to it in terms of a Good singles racket! I think It is the closest rival to Ti 10. teh only advantage that i might Ti 10 is teh stiffness, Titanium mesh( if at all it does something) the head weight and Isometric shape!

But i guess if u can play Great with a Cab 20 tour then I guess u haev a damn good game!

Why do the pros either play the Cab 20 or isometric racquets, ignoring the newer Cabs? I would have thought that maybe the Carbonex models might offer better control for a top level player, rather than one of the bigger sweet spot Iso's (maybe my judgment is clouded by comparisons to golf, as most of the pros still use smaller forged blade iron club heads, which offer better feel and control for an expert, rather than the bigger, more forgiving cavity back irons that have a much larger sweet spot). Aren't the Cab 22 and 23 supposed to have more power than the Cab 20? Is a racquet's power not much of an issue for a pro who can generate all the power he/she needs, regardless of the racquet? I'm guessing there is some pressure from Yonex's marketing people to have their sponsored players play the newest MP Iso racquets, but then why would so many continue with the Cab 20 - wouldn't there also be marketing pressure for them to play the newest Carbonex model also?

Does any player that you know of use the Isometric 96 VF??

Brett
10-16-2001, 12:29 AM
Well, I've never heard of any pros using a Sportcraft steel racquet from a backyard set, strung with fishing line at 8lbs either. It's easy to make an obviously silly comparison, but I don't think that the Cab 22 or 23 racquets, which were/are the top of the line Carbonex models (at least pricewise) are in the same category as a beginners racquet like the Iso 96VF. So what qualities do these two racquets lack, that the Cab 20 possesses, that would make them suitable for a professional to use?

I pretty sure, that Tony & Candra were longtime users of the cab22/cab20 power, before they switched to MP100.

Hey Yogesh, thanks for the compliment!!!

Brett, cab 20. For some reason, it stands the test of time. Other one piece cab racquets from Yonex that have died a dusty death are cab 14, cab 16, cab 15 (new), cab 25 amongst
Cab 21 is still favoured.
Cab23 I think is just too new and hasn't caught on. I think it will never catch on. It just hasn't got the 'feel' (whatever that is). Very difficult to define.

My personal opinion is the racquet is balanced and gives a good compromise when hitting the shuttle of not too heavy and not too light. You wouldn;t believe the number of people here in HK still using the original cab 20. Still perhaps 1 in thirty to forty (rough estimate). Like I mentioned before, one pro I spoke to says using the Cab 20 is similar to a rapier and Ti10 like a chopping knife. He likes both!

Why player's don;t always use the newest racquet form Yonex? Beats me.

ovk, Tony Gunawen was definately using the Cab22 is the Olympic final for the first two games. He switched to MP100 in the 3rd.

Note; sometimes the pros just change racquets for the fun of it, just like changing your car I suppose.

Just to put the record (or the racquet!) straight, I'm only an average player who likes to play badminton tournaments. My aim is to be a very good amateur....
