KOREAN is smart either.. They would wanna avoid CHN too in the Semis... It could be end up both team fight to lose the match.... But I dont think there will be any fishy line-up for MAS.

Barely. My guess is THA will rest Poompat and field Tanongsak for some useful and enriching education from TH.THA MS4 should be able to work SS even with losing.
Does the win over GER mean that THA gets into QF?(cos i wanna see Tanongsak play in QF)

No surprises in Japan's WS lineups, but interesting changes in Japan's WD lineups:
WS1: Eriko Hirose vs Maria Kristin -- Eriko can win the first point

WD1: Satoko Suetsuna/Miyuki Maeda vs Vita Marissa/Lilyana Natsir -- INA needs to go for broke and win this one here.

WS2: Yu Hirayama vs Adriyanti Firdasari -- now, Firda needs to be at her best and try to win a point for INA.

WD2: Reiko Shiota/Tomomi Matsuda vs Jo Novita/Greysia Polii -- this combination no doubt increases Japan's chance of winning the tie. It should be the deciding tie...and Jo/Grace need to win this one if INA were to have any chance of salvaging the tie.

WS3: Kaori Mori vs Pia Zebadiah -- if the score is split at 2-2, then, Kaori should beat Pia.

Thailand are expected to meet NZ during the play-off & advance to the QF to up against the mighty CHN team.
We wont get the chances to see Tanongsak in action if Thailand were beaten 0-3 in the first 3 matches of the ties..He is expected to be fielded in MS3 as in today's Thailand line-up.

KOR is not bothered about winning or losing and definitely fears none. However, my guess is PSH will have a calibration match with LCW, LHI will lose his match unless WCH gifts him and the MDs will switch their combinations around to give MAS MDs some impromptu fun. Hafiz and SSM will both compete for fitness tests.

Looks like all the giants fielding their strongest possbile line-up in respective Thomas Cup Group stages 1st match. Probably CHN is the only team with the exception by resting Chen Jin & the MD2 Gup/Xie

05-11-2008, 12:58 AM
If KOR fields a weird team with the intention to lose, and they do, then they will play against INA in the QF, not MAS
I don't think KOR fields weird team to lose but they probably like to mix up their MDs to confuse and check out MAS MDs 'unknown' weaknesses. They are ok regardless whether they meet INA or CHN.This gives them the opportunity of using TC as a 'research' tournament.

WS3: Kaori Mori vs Pia Zebadiah -- if the score is split at 2-2, then, Kaori should beat Pia.
..sounds very tantalizing indeed...Hmm, hope they'll show this tie on live webstream...:p:cool:

As for those people wishing for M'sia and/or KOR TC squads to finish 2nd or last in their group, you know what, both of them might not even make it past the QF stage. The winner of the MAS/ENG/KOR group, will probably have a bigger chance of reaching the Semis and play against CHN. So, better win the group!

Vita & Butet are now in a do-or-die situation. Lose and I can't see any way back for INA. The JPN pair are going to be tough.

Suetsuna/Maeda beat Vita/Butet in R16 of MAS Open 2008. So, it's a tough match too.

Not looking good for Vita/Butet as the Japanese pair races to a 11-5 lead, winning 5 straight pts at 6-5.

If KOREAN decided to play with their full strength tomorrow, MAS will be in deep trouble !

WCH edges Rajiv 22-20. Not impressive at all from the MAS captain.
Miyuki/Satoko are really punishing Vita/Butet 11-6

6 smash winners from JPN vs 4 from INA
6 unforced errors from INA vs 0 from JPN.
4 clear winners from JPN vs 1 from INA.

That basically sums it up. The Japanese pair will wrap the first set up.

INa deserves to lost the UC matches, the concequences of threatening to pull out their squad if BWF did not reshuffle the original schedule for INA UC team.
