Koo/Tan doesnt play as bad as many would think today....
Much more improve compare with yesterday's match against the ENG Pair...
KKK was as usual lethal in the net , while surprisingly, TBH is the one who making several unforced errors.

I bet they still want to win that MD. But, I would really expect Lee/Hong to be thrashed badly. Totally unexpected :cool:

LYD/ Park beat Msia MD in qualifier leh. No not totally unexpected anymore, then yes, now nope. Dunno why, KKK/TBH give better fight when it's LYD/Jung like the one in ABC.

Taufik lost to Tanongsak that one I was very surprised

I think it is better to stick to the old system with only champion and runner-up will be able to play in QF instead of the playoffs. Team can easily plan strategy in order to qualify i the easiest way.

I mean Rexy, Rexy is doubles coach. If I remember correct, in 2006, he fielded CCM/KKK as 1st MD, Uncles as 2nd MD. Correct move, Msia won both MD but lost in MS. Rexy did mention to press he might 'tweak' with the pairs.

Rexy will take risk one - KKK/TBH was a big risk in AG 2006.

But if like waile says, but some miracle Germany wins against Japan/Denmark.....Msia meet Germany in QF, he he he

Well, although I think the line-up can't be revealed in advance as both teams will normally have to submit together and the line-up disclosed at the same time so as not to allow changes, the Malaysian side could have selected a "weaker" team if they intend to lose and meet up with a weaker team later.

In this sense Korea have succeeded in achieving their goal while Malaysia have failed.

Now Malaysia have to play their best to move into the next round. Hopefully their players will have that strength and stamina to outlast the harder matches to come.

It was never Msia's strategy to lose to both England & Korea. They already told the media, they want to win group tie, & win defending champs China in Semi. If lose, wouldnt lose face.

They dont want to come in 2nd in group, then meet Indonesia in QF.
Korea, have decided to be the one to lose all for easier path to Semis. Msia would not do that, trust me, there'll loads of questions from NSC, Sports Minister if they do that.

the german pair is quite good, esp roman spitko...

GER is known for its tricky double pairs, same like POL.
Kristof Hopp/Ingo Kindervater won the Russian Open last year, after beating Shuichi Sakamoto/Shintaro Ikeda in the Final.

Roman Spitko/Michael Fuchs and Michal Logosz/Robert Mateusiak have also beaten Hendra A. Gunawan/Joko Riyadi in a number of occassions in 2006 & 2007.

JE/ML are dubbed "old men of badminton" should be "old uncles"
Othsuka/Masuda are 28 & 29 y.o. Below 30 I call semi-uncle

So : old uncles vs Semi uncles

Potential QF line-ups:
CHN vs THA* - A free pass to SF for the defending champion
MAS vs JPN* - A tough match for MAS
KOR* vs DEN - This is the most anticipated QF match as KOR managed to have chosen its QF opponent.
INA vs ENG* - Another free pass to SF for the host

Playoffs:

China has obvious advantage. But "free pass" is exaggerating.

Thailand can put hope in BP, their MDs (in particular 2nd MD) and this new guy who beat TH (this guy must play 3rd MS as he did when facing Germany as I don't think he has any chance beating BCL ) -- if this guy is young, fast/agile and powerful, then bingo! He has chance to beat CJ ("Underdogs" that beat CJ: Kendrick Lee is young and powerful, the MAS youngster is young and fast). Also don't forget that BP, who beat CJ easily twice in 2007, can share his knowledge on how to beat CJ.

..yep, just went through the rest of the 78 pages of this thread (was knocked out last night):p.....And yay, the BC server actually held up!!:);)

Hmm, problem with telkom as official ISP of TUC 2008. Gosh! Something wrong with TUC organizer this time such as no official website, ticket chaos, internet down regularly. It seems they're not well-organized, I came to Istora yesterday and witnessed it.

That's poor preparation for such a prestigious event.
Do you know if anyone at the stadium is trying to fix the internet connection?

oH oH.. We havent brought the ticket yet.. Now. we might end up flying all the way to INA and denied an entries to the stadium :o

don scared me.................................:crying:
..a few reasons why a trip to INA to watch this TC & UC was not something i personally look fw to.:p Add to that do they even have the tournament's official logo, like 2 yrs ago?? Anyway, wishing you guys, going to INA, a wonderful time and be able to get your tix, nonetheless!.
As for fixing the internet connection at the Senayan hall, too bad our Hau-ge is not a hardware technician...;)

The match stop because something drop down from the ceiling..I think is glasses and they have to sweep it from the court..

there's glass all over the court.
according to commentator.

they use vacuum to remove them

What? Something fell from the ceiling? You must be joking

is it glass dropped down from the ceiling??? why the glass broken???

:eek::eek::eek:

Something drop down from the ceiling? What is that? How's the players, both ok or not?

This should not be allowed to take place as it will interrupt players momentum. Host nation to look closely to this matter.
..that's quite dangerous you know. Players could've been injured if larger shards of objects were to fall.:p Thankfully no one was hurt and the glass didn't fall to the spectators' area.

That Hui Lin is too fat for a young girl. You can literally see her fats swinging around her at the tummy (i won't call waist as she doesn't seem to have one) and her thigh when she hit the shuttle !
...

Errrr, in case you havent noticed, Hui Lin is the best WD among the youngsters - Goh LY, Woon Khe Wei, even KLRC's Haw. Not sure if she's better than Chong SC but her combo with Lim PS worked well during TC qualifiers. I think that was why she was chosen to partner Pek Siah in tie against Spore instead of Haw.
She's aggressive, good at attacking.

Ppl have also nicknamed CEH as "fatty bum bum" but she & WPT still our top WD for a number of years.
..:)..:D...maybe that's the reason why Hui Lin picked up badminton again..:p ;)

Yup, both MAS and JPN are seeded way too high for this Uber Cup. The Danes are European Champs, even Holland was a Uber Cup semifinalist last time around.
..uhm, if not mistaken, the Dutch's UC squad was the runners-up, 2 yrs ago, in JPN, losing to CHN.

I don't quite understand....Korea has the best chance to beat China out of all other countries, they should be confident with themselves...
ah well,strategy.....
haha, last time was LYD,now it's HJM playing singles..
...i guess they prefer to play an extra tie (playoff), rather than to rest, win their QF tie and face CHN (or INA).:p

so, they think denmark will be easy? right, let's pray that denmark will give them a 5-0 trashing.

Playing Denmark in the QF should be easier than playing INA in front of the home crowd in the QF.
..not necessarily. The home crowd, from now on, might cheer for teams playing against KOR. If Korea should advance to the QF round, which i believe they should, the crowd might cheer on the Danes to pull through to play INA in the Semis. It should be interesting to see which team(s) the home crowd will give its support to, if DEN meets KOR in the QF.

Don't worry about Korea strategy, to sneaky and crash for their own doing. All their doubles players will be too tired to play.
..yeah, interesting thought. Now, the Koreans have to play an extra tie before moving on to the QF round. I guess the Koreans will be relying on their ginseng, eh??...;)

In Malaysia at least, that is not true anymore. From 88 - 92 when I was still an active cheerleader, we had battles with the INA cheerleading squad, but it was always done in good spirit from both sides.

Last year at World Championships and a few weeks ago at the ABC, our cheerleading captain and INA's cheerleading captain in Malaysia even posed for pics together.

But players really need to experience this booing, if they can manage it, they'll become much better players when the going gets tough.

True enough. One of the articles in the other thread blames INA fans for booing Malaysian players. Well, that is a given when you play in Istora Senayan. If players don't have enough mental toughness to stand the booing, they are going south pretty fast. Oh well, that is what makes Indonesia unique
