so i just bought my racquet 2nd hand today and i didnt really notice this until i took it home and did a more thorough inspection on the racquet. i was just wondering if this is a crack or is this just something like a hair painted over or something. and is this dangerous for the racquet? its around the 4 o'clock position. thanks

It looks more like a paint chip that is in the shape of a line, but honestly I cannot totally tell from the pictures. If you run a fingernail through it can you feel an indentation? If indeed it is a crack, I know rackets are still payable with minor cracks, as long as its on the outer edge and not internal.

hmm well i ran a toothpick across it and it seems like one side is higher up than the other. like if i ran the toothpick from the lower side to the higher side, the higher side will stop me from going past the line but if its from high to low side, it just falls down from the top side and continues across. lol sorry, im really really really really bad at explaining things ><

I understand what you're trying to say. Cannot really tell from the picture. Looks like a paint chip. Paint chips will cause the surface to be uneven thats why your toothpick cant past the line. However, it might still be a crack. can't really tell from the picture. sorry. which racket is that may i ask?

Oh. i see. :) if you wanna make sure whether there is a crack you can go to the shop where you usually string your racket to let them check your racket.

It doesn't look like one...best if u can use ur hand to feel,if that's a crack..or just a part of the grommet.

that line is so tiny! im amazed that you noticed it.
even if that was a crack, it won't greatly affect your game.

well i heard tons of story about small cracks leading to bigger cracks and this eventually caused the racquet to break down. so im guessing this is only a paint chip and not a crack in the graphite?
