An accurate shot by Pia makes it 8-6.
Long return by Schnaase as Pia stretches it to 9-6.
Another accurate return by Pia to lead 10-6.
Pia stumbled as she couldn't return Schnaase's shot, 10-7.
A breather for both players....

Schnaase claimed her 8th pt as Pia made a net return, 10-8.
She returned the favor, 11-8 at the interval.

A much more interesting second set and a closer one for sure.

Well, this German is not too bad, learning fast and applying similar tactics Pia used on her.

More respectable scoreline, 11-14 to Schnaase.

10 more pts for Pia to bring INA to the Uber Cup Final.

Schnaase returned with a bang as she won 2 straight pts, 11-10.
Pia is back with a vengeance, 12-10.

2 straight pts for Pia to make it 14-10, before a net return by her and the GER claims her 11th pt. 14-11.
Another long return by the GER, 15-11.
Net return by Pia, 15-12.
Schnaase's return was poor, 16-12.
What a return by the GER, 16-13.
Long return by Schnaase, 17-13. 4 more pts for a place in the Final.

Pia needs to be calm now.

Ouch....what a wasted chance by Pia...as she returned wide, 19-14.

what a play of Indonesian Uber Cup Team,
they play very Good, especially Firda,
its predicted Maria Kristin will lose in the 1st WS but she also play well eventough many unforced error :(

Susi Susanti (INA UBER CUP Manager, former no.1 BWF WS player) said, INA team is very Ready to be Lost on the first Tie (Maria Kristin Lost) and its wil not effect INA Phsycist/Mentallity.

2nd WS, Firda Great play , defeat Juliane Schenk,
both of player do some unforce Error, but Firda can past Critical point in 2nd Set, 19-17, 19-18, 19-19, 19-20, 20-20, 21-20, and 22-20,
"what a play" :)

1st WD, my Cutie Greysia POlii do her best with Jo Novita, no more point for Germany,

3rd WS, again PIA and PIa, she is always on the Fire, be the triger of INA Win today , as she hs done in Sea Games2007,
Gret PIA (19 years Old), hopefully be the next Susi Susanti

I think Butet/Vita has good chance. This may be the first time they can play WD wholeheartedly without worrying about XD.

Butet/Vita usually win points by 1. counter-attacking, and 2. clever placement and good deception. Thus IMHO, they will have good chance beating either Yang(old and slow)/Zhang(old and slow) or Gao(old and slow)/Zhao(not old but making unforced errors all the time), but they have less chance against Zhang/Wei(both not old, fast, and powerful).

IMHO, Vita/Butet have the most problem beating Yang Wei/Zhang Jiewen. I don't know why....the last time I watched them in the BAC 2008, they struggled big time against the veteran pair. The INA pair kept attacking, with the CHN pair contented to just defending and waiting for the INA pair to make the error by returning wide or to the net (which they mostly did). The INA pair ended up losing the first set easily. The second set was much better in terms of scoreline, but, yet again, the INA pair was too easily tempted to make unforced errors from their attacking play (which often was not successful at all!).

They should force Yang/Zhang to play more at the net, and tire the veterans out with the placement shots. Butet should play in front, instead of at the back because Vita has the tendency to make lots of errors to the net (similar to Lee Hyo Jung :o:eek:). Butet's experience in playing against Gao Ling or Zhang Yawen in the XD should help her.

The key will be to play smartly, not all-out attack.

Felix.

Can't agree more. Vita/Butet haven't been able to force rubber whenever playing Zhang/Yang.... but they have been able to stretch (and beat) other Chinese WD pair.
Unfortunately for us, as WD1 they'll probably be force to play Zhang/Yang.

Maybe, LYB will see today's lost as reason not to field Zhang/Yang??

Yes the key is to move Yang/Zhang around and tire them up.

Watching the Korean WD play, their defense has improved immensely. Their style of play is very similar to LYD/JJS & LJJ/HJM, where they do their best to get the shuttle back and frustrate their opponents into an error or an out of position lift. And they don't defend like CHN where they just lift everything back, they block to open spaces and drive things back which gives them more options. That's why Ha/Kim were able to come so close to winning their first game against Wei/Zhang despite the CHN girls being way better overall.

As an aside, I wonder what would happen if China messed their WD line-up. I bet GL/YW would murder any team out their.

I saw UC SF between INA and GER live at Senayan (at Class 1, Door A4 to be exact).

IMHO, it was an entertaining match actually, with a fantastic atmosphere in the stadium. I love Indonesians when they supporting their team, but a lil bit disappointed when a bunch of local supporters threw away Germany flag. As an Indonesian, i feel a lil bit pity.

But, instead all of that, a fantastic performance from Indonesians, both players and supporters. Too bad can't see TC today and UC final againts China tomorrow. Have to work at festival at Ancol :(. But hope to be back on Sunday for TC final :)
