Just a quick question, i'm stringing my friends ns5k, and he wants to string to 28lbs, can the ns5k safely take that tension?

The NS5k is an entry level racquet into the nano series so I wouldn't really recommend 28lbs. The higher the tension, the more pressure the frame is under hence, more likely it can break.

If your customer is an experienced player who usually hits at the sweet spot, it should be fine. But if he wants it to be a little more forgiving, I wouldn't recommend over 25lbs (also depending on string gauge).

Hi Mr. Killer,:D

If you have to ask this question, I assume you are not that experience stringer yet. So my answer is max recommended tension+10%. If it is done by a experienced stringer, it can take 25X28lb with out problem. However, it will prob die during a clash at that high tension.

The more tension you want, the more experience and workmanship it demands, and the more risk it will kick in during the usage (playing time). It's the judgement call for your friend, and you might want to carefully explain all the terms to him/her, to avoid any possible argument and mis-understanding. ;)

yeah, i've only been stringing for less than half a year. i've taken that racket to 26x28 with no problems. i usually do my own rackets to 26-27. but i've read in places that the ns5k's frame is extremely fragile. so i'm worried that the racket will break from a mishit.

A powerful mishit can break any racket, even tennis racket (with tennis ball, of course). Proper string job can only prevent such case to a degree, but nothing is totally avoidable. Even if you have a brand new racket, properly strung by a professional stringer, if the player has a powerful mishit or clash, it will be gone as well.
