Aha, I thought so. :D PON is a multi-event games played by the various provinces of INA, like Jakarta, Aceh, Maluku, Yogjakarta, etc. But we don't invite Brunei, Sabah, Serawak, Selangor, Johor, Singapore, etc. unless they want to be part of INA... ;););););)... he he he...:cool::cool:... we shall welcome all new provinces with oil wealth, vast palm-oil estates, and robust financial center... :D:D:D apply now please! :D

Aiyoo, like that also want to sue RTM. Wait till Olympics coverage, got more reason to sue, knowing how RTM is, with all the hourly news break.

The commentators for SUkma not sure of themselves, often repeat same point. After yesterday, I give up watching highlights.

SORRY ya all, wrong info on WD final. Lim/Nairul are actually 3rd place, bronze (eagle look at wrong column). And Julia vs Lydia is WS(singles), not doubles, typo error.

WD Gold winner is Ng Hui Lin/Woon Khe Wei over Amelia AA/Ng Paou Leng, 17-21, 21-13, 21-19

http://www.sukma-2008.com.my/rs2008/bm/bm/result_sgl_ko.aspx?eid=204&mid=494

No surprises in all the events actually, the winners are either in national squad (XD) or back-up squad. Toughest fight was supposed to be MS & WS but both ended in straight sets.

Now the players gear up for Spore Open next wk.

THERE were no surprises in Kemaman yesterday as the badminton finals went with the form book and gold medals evenly distributed.
Kedah's Chong Wei Feng (below), widely tipped as one to fill the shoes of National No 1 Lee Chong Wei, beat fellow national junior Arif Latif of Negri Sembilan 21-17, 21-11 in the men's singles final.

Wei Feng completed a personal double, having led Kedah to the team gold earlier in the week following a 3-2 win over the Federal Territories in the final.

The women's final saw topseed Julia Wong of Malacca clinch a 22-20, 21-14 win over Uber Cup teammate Lydia Cheah of FT.

Lydia may have suffered from being extended in the semi-finals against Penang's Tee Jing Yi which went to three games while Julia made short work of Ooi Swee Wenn of Kedah.
Selangor's Ng Hui Lin-Woon Khe Wei recovered from a game down to win a thrilling women's doubles final against Sabah's Amelia Anscelly-Ng Paou Leng 17-21, 21-13, 21-19.

The men's doubles final ended in similar fashion when Perak's Chow Pak Chu-Mek Hee Chun beat FT's Cheah Liek Hou-Chin Chuan Jue 17-21, 21-11, 21-19.

Tan Wee Kiong-Haw Chiou Hwee of Johor edged Kedah's Lim Khim Wah-Swee Wenn 21-19, 21-16 for the mixed doubles gold.

Kedah ended top of the pile of the badminton medal tally with two gold and a silver while Malacca, Sabah, Johor, Perak and Sabah took one each.

Wei Feng bids adieu on a high note, Hui Lin wins first gold

TOP seed Chong Wei Feng ended his junior career on a high while Ng Hui Lin overcame a muscle pull to win her first Sukma gold medal on the final day of the badminton competition in Kemaman yesterday.

Kedah's Wei Feng lived up to his billing in the men's singles, beating second seed Mohd Arif Abdul Latif of Negri Sembilan 21-17, 21-11 in the final to complete a perfect record in his final outing in Sukma. On Tuesday, he helped Kedah retain the team title.

The win over Arif, who was a member of the Malaysian team for the Thomas Cup Finals last month, proved that he is one of the top singles players in the national back-up squad.

“Winning the individual gold is really meaningful to me and I hope it will convince the selectors to send me out to compete in more international tournaments,” said Wei Feng.

“I hope to win one Open title before the year ends. I will be competing in the Thailand Open next and playing against the top guns will really help our game.”

Wei Feng's highlight in the senior ranks is a win over China's Chen Jin in the India Open this year.

Selangor's Hui Lin partnered Woon Khe Wei to win the women's doubles gold medal. They defeated Sabah's Amelia Alicia-Ng Paou Leng 17-21, 21-13, 21-19 in the final. It was Hui Lin's first gold medal after two failed attempts in the 2004 and 2006 Games.

“A muscle pull almost dashed my hopes but I hung on. I am glad that Khe Wei and I were able to live up to the expectations.”

Hui Lin, who was a member of the Uber Cup team, hoped that the coaches would get her a regular partner to help her make a mark in the international scene.

“I will be competing in the Thailand Open in the women's doubles with Vivian Hoo and in the mixed doubles with Lim Khim Wah (her world junior champion partner) in the Vietnam Open,” she said.

“I have decided to become a full-time player. I have been offered a scholarship to further my studies in economics in Canada. But I am willing to postpone it for the sake of badminton. I will let the coaches decide on a regular partner for me.”

http://thestar.com.my/services/printerfriendly.asp?file=/2008/6/9/sports/21495578.asp&sec=sports

Got schorlarship also dont want to go, must really love baddy. Hui Lin's fans will be happy.
