View Full Version : Singapore Badminton Open 2008: Day 6, Sunday June 15th (Finals)
chris-ccc 06-14-2008, 12:33 PM .
Greetings,
And so we have arrived at Day 6 (FINALS), Sunday June 14th, of the Singapore Open 2008.
It's the first time that I have managed to follow a SS Tournament from start to finish.
Over the last 5 days, many upsets were caused by improved players.
But still, there remain three 1st seeds left in the FINALS, namely;
(1) MS: Lee Chong Wei (MAS)
(2) WD: Du Jing/Yu Yang (CHN)
(3) XD: Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir (INA)
OK, my predictions (as highlighted) are:
(1) MS: Lee Chong Wei (MAS) (1st seed) to defeat Simon Santoso (INA) (6th seed)
LCW have said that he would concentrate to make it to the Finals, but this time his opponent is Simon and not Lin Dan. LCW's form has been good... so I don't see why he couldn't win this event.
(2) LS: Tine Rasmussen (DEN) (2nd seed) to defeat Zhou Mi (HKG) (5th seed)
TR has proven that her form is getting better and better. She would be delighted to carry on with it... to the Beijing Olympics 2008. She would be sending this "BEWARE" message to the top missing Chinese WS players.
(3) MD: Zakry/Fairuzizuan (MAS) to defeat Gan Teik Chai/Lin Woon Fui (MAS)
It's great to find that these 2 unseeded pairs reaching the Finals. Za-Fa could be a little bit steadier than Gan-Lin.
(4) WD: Du Jing/Yu Yang (CHN) (1st seed) to defeat Cheng Wen Hsing/Chien Yu Chin (TPE) (2nd seed)
This is the only event that Seeds 1 and 2 have made it to the Finals. Du-Yu would be able to show us why they should be ranked higher than their opponents Cheng-Chien.
(5) XD: Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir (INA) (1st seed) to defeat Clark/Kellogg (ENG) (6th seed)
The world's highest ranked XD pair should have no problem winning this event. My hope is that Liliyana is not too tired after having to play more games/matches than her partner and her opponents in this tournament.
Well... Good Luck to All Participants !!! :):):)
Cheers... chris@ccc
:):):)
.
Oldhand 06-14-2008, 12:50 PM It's difficult to disagree with your predictions except for the XD.
Anthony Clark & Donna Kellogg are in tremendous form.
In the QF, they disposed of Zheng Bo & Gao Ling rather cheaply.
However, that's hardly the case with Nova Widianto & Liliyana Natsir.
Even in their opening match, they dropped a game... against one of the weakest pairs in the tournament (Danny Chrisnanta & Vanessa Neo).
Worse, Liliyana's game leaves little room for optimism.
From what's on show here, she's not in the pink of form.
See, Clark already has his eyes fixed on the title :D
Sealman 06-14-2008, 01:25 PM imagine you are in LCW/Tine's shoes.... if they lose in the SO finals (touchwood) when everyone expects them to win... it would be very demoralising for these players before the OG starts....
Krisna 06-14-2008, 01:32 PM .
Cheers... chris@ccc
:):):)
.
I think your predictions will all come true, Chris... ;)

.
:D:D:D Another great photo, Oldhand . :D:D:D
In the QF, I was just as impressed with Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir defeating Sudket/Saralee (THA) (5th seed) 21-14, 21-12, as you were with Clark/Kellogg defeating Zheng Bo/Gao Lin (CHN) (2nd seed) 21-12, 21-18.
Actually, I was hoping that Sudket/Saralee would do better, but it didn't happen. :(:(:(
Anyway, I think Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir will be meeting Zheng Bo/Gao Lin at the Beijing Olympics 2008 in the Finals for GOLD.
:):):)

KlasseE 06-14-2008, 02:03 PM .
Greetings,
(2) LS: Tine Rasmussen (DEN) (2nd seed) to defeat Zhou Mi (HKG) (5th seed)
Cheers... chris@ccc
:):):)
.
chris, agree all except ls, zhou mi will defeat tine...just my feeling :D
Noridayu 06-14-2008, 03:49 PM I hope that LCW will win this final. All the best to you, Chong Wei. Make Malaysia proud of you. I will fly up high the Jalur Gemilang today. I am happy that I am able to witness my favourite team merge champion in MD. Well done, Malaysia!
Oldhand 06-14-2008, 09:42 PM I hope that LCW will win this final. All the best to you, Chong Wei. Make Malaysia proud of you. I will fly up high the Jalur Gemilang today. I am happy that I am able to witness my favourite team merge champion in MD. Well done, Malaysia!
And what is this Jalur Gemilang?
xsakurax 06-14-2008, 09:48 PM And what is this Jalur Gemilang?
Jalur Gemilang is the malaysian flag:)
shawn30_k 06-14-2008, 09:57 PM Does anyone know the order of play for today?
I tend to agree with Oldhand on the XD, that's why my bet is on the English pair for my PAW.
With so many upsets happening during the past few days, will it be a surprise if only one can again come true today? :D
I'm going to the SIS now to enjoy the entertainment.
Let the Show being at 1 pm sharp! :)
Erwin Kyoto 06-14-2008, 10:33 PM I think your predictions will all come true, Chris... ;)
not all...Simon can break Chris`s prediction for men single...:D:p
abedeng 06-14-2008, 10:38 PM Don't mention Clark's sleepiness, even I had difficulty keeping eyes open. Thank God for the doughnuts, ate 5 of them yesterday.
Now at Kallang Leisure Mall for more Great Singapore Window Shopping. Just 100 yards from the stadium.
Uncle Loh is a "VIP" in his home event, he should be arriving at the stadium anytime soon, to try and grab free VIP lunch.
Back to predictions:
MS - LCW over Simon. This is if it is accoding to form. LCW known to leave his foot off the gas against lower ranked opponents, Simon could punish him dearly.
WS - TR over ZM. Tine is sharper than last month at Uber Finals. ZM is struggling. But if there is a breed of players who can beat Tine, it would be experienced CHN and ex-CHN players. And ZM, Xu, Pi, Wang Chen and XXF belong to this group.
MD - boring!!! Fuzzy to beat ex-partners if they can maintain consistency.
WD - CHN tomboys over TPE ladies. Tomboys not as flamboyant as their previous tournaments, but TPE pair not in the best of form.
XD - INA over ENG. Could be 3 games.
CLELY 06-14-2008, 10:44 PM not all...Simon can break Chris`s prediction for men single...:D:p
I think LCW is clear favourite to win MS title here, the only one hope for INA depends on Nova/Lilyana.
george@chongwei 06-14-2008, 11:10 PM am currently in Malacca;...
dunno shud go to singapore to watch the badminton live or not..
but most probably i wont be going:(
olympic 06-14-2008, 11:21 PM I would say the clear favourites will win in the finals after so many upsets.
tomtom 06-14-2008, 11:27 PM what (singapore) time does the finals start?
aZn_Popcorn 06-14-2008, 11:29 PM should start in half an hr
Erwin Kyoto 06-14-2008, 11:29 PM I would say the clear favourites will win in the finals after so many upsets.
except...men single...:D
abedeng 06-14-2008, 11:39 PM Just entered the stadium with jimbo and tjl-vanguard.
Redeemed my Mazda lucky draw coupon and submitted to the box.
Folks beside me are complaining about the centre section of the seating (opposite camera view) is closed by organizers. Smacks of unprofessionalism, says one guy.
Singapore, unprofessional?
40 minutes before shuttles are destroyed in anger, and the crowd is trickling in.
The two most anticipated matches (XD and MS) pushed to last in the order of play.
tomtom 06-14-2008, 11:40 PM thanks aZn_Popcorn!
ye333 06-14-2008, 11:41 PM LCW is in formidable form... Simon should set his goal at 15,15.
abedeng 06-14-2008, 11:44 PM Order of play:
MD, WS, Mazda lucky draw, WD, XD and MS last.
abedeng 06-14-2008, 11:51 PM LCW is in formidable form... Simon should set his goal at 15,15.
Every player in the finals has a chance to win. Even if you support the favourite, don't underestimate the opponent.
Telling Simon to limit his goal is insulting. Remember, Simon has a notebook and surfs the net actively.
Based on yesterday's performance, I would say that Simon has the best physical conditioning between the top 3 INA MS. I'll ask the Aussie physical trainer for PBSI the next time I see him.
george@chongwei 06-14-2008, 11:54 PM Order of play:
MD, WS, Mazda lucky draw, WD, XD and MS last.
haha, good luck to u...:)
make sure u take picture of the winner for that car:):p
abedeng 06-14-2008, 11:55 PM Steen Pedersen and Tine spied sitting at the players area, discussing tactics.
george@chongwei 06-14-2008, 11:55 PM I hope that LCW will win this final. All the best to you, Chong Wei. Make Malaysia proud of you. I will fly up high the Jalur Gemilang today. I am happy that I am able to witness my favourite team merge champion in MD. Well done, Malaysia!
dont worry, lee chong wei will win 2day..:)
have faith in him:)
MALAYSIA BOLEH!
george@chongwei 06-14-2008, 11:56 PM Steen Pedersen and Tine spied sitting at the players area, discussing tactics.
any latest pics from the stadium?
where u siiting at? at the vip area with loh?\
seems that the stadium got wireless that enables u to surf internet there in the stadium.
abedeng 06-15-2008, 12:08 AM Of course the stadium has wireless, told u Simon was busy on his notebook yesterday.
And again, I am not using notebook. Who wants to use bulky equipment while watching a live match?
george@chongwei 06-15-2008, 12:09 AM Of course the stadium has wireless, told u Simon was busy on his notebook yesterday.
And again, I am not using notebook. Who wants to use bulky equipment while watching a live match?
do u mean simon santoso?
abedeng 06-15-2008, 12:11 AM Technically, Gan and Lin has the advantage with LH/RH combination.
george@chongwei 06-15-2008, 12:12 AM Technically, Gan and Lin has the advantage with LH/RH combination.
everyone in the stadium must be wearing a yellow colour shirt, right?
do you?:D
donvito 06-15-2008, 12:13 AM watching live TV from solar sports Philippines!
samuel882 06-15-2008, 12:13 AM Technically, Gan and Lin has the advantage with LH/RH combination.
But their games always full with unforce errors... The experince of fuzzy pair to play in more SS compare with Gan/Lin should put them through:rolleyes:
abedeng 06-15-2008, 12:14 AM The blacks have more firepower and lead 11-7 at the break.
george@chongwei 06-15-2008, 12:15 AM The blacks have more firepower and lead 11-7 at the break.
wow, its nice these 2 pairs keep smashing at each other:)
iah!:p
abedeng 06-15-2008, 12:17 AM Blacks push Yellows deep into backcourt, 14-10
samuel882 06-15-2008, 12:17 AM wow, its nice these 2 pairs keep smashing at each other:)
iah!:p
No, Gan/Lin looks struggling to retrieve smashes by fuzzy.
they didnt have chance to attack as often,
abedeng 06-15-2008, 12:19 AM Zakry's backcourt power is amazing, Fairuz not as good.
Scoreline level, 15-15.
Tjun Tjun 06-15-2008, 12:19 AM watching live TV from solar sports Philippines!
Didn't know Philippines TV is big on badminton......always thought you people are crazy on basketball......:):):)
samuel882 06-15-2008, 12:20 AM Fuzzy suffered abit by drift at the moment with couple of wrong judjement. allows gan/lin to level at 16-all
abedeng 06-15-2008, 12:22 AM Fairuz redeems the situation, 18-16.
Yellows respond, 17-18.
samuel882 06-15-2008, 12:22 AM Didn't know Philippines TV is big on badminton......always thought you people are crazy on basketball......:):):)
Must be a big influence by our fastdrop :D
MaLiq 06-15-2008, 12:22 AM great smashing by fuzzy!
samuel882 06-15-2008, 12:23 AM Fairuz is the more consistent player among the four
abedeng 06-15-2008, 12:24 AM Loose return, blacks beat yellows 21-18.
samuel882 06-15-2008, 12:25 AM Gan/Lin return is quite poor, always lift the shuttle high and allowed their opponents to smash like no tomorrow.
If they meet Korean/Chinese/INA tops, they will be getting less than 10 pts in each match (a hammering)
eaglehelang 06-15-2008, 12:25 AM Hiyaa, now only I know MD playing 1 st, thanks to Klasse, watching Shanghai Sports while watching for RTM 1 to start.
Wah Fuzzy very fierce lah
eaglehelang 06-15-2008, 12:26 AM Gan/Lin return is quite poor, always lift the shuttle high and allowed their opponents to smash like no tomorrow.
If they meet Korean/Chinese/INA tops, they will be getting less than 10 pts in each match (a hammering)
Gan/Lin supposed to good in defense. And they have their team mates - CCM/CCE & Wee Kiong/Razif for disposing of Luluk/Alvent & GUo/Xie
abedeng 06-15-2008, 12:27 AM Yellows must keep shuttle low. Blacks have superior attacking pressure.
Good yellows defence, 2-3
Tjun Tjun 06-15-2008, 12:28 AM Fairuz is the more consistent player among the four
Fairuz doesn't look nervous playing against fellow Malaysians.....he looks confident in fact......
samuel882 06-15-2008, 12:28 AM Gan/Lin supposed to good in defense. And they have their team mates - CCM/CCE & Wee Kiong/Razif for disposing of Luluk/Alvent & GUo/Xie
No, defense is always been their main weakness .
And ya, if not for WK/Tazif to upset the chn, Gan/Lin should have no chance to getting into this far
abedeng 06-15-2008, 12:29 AM Gan's defensive posture is suspect, forces him to send loose returns.
george@chongwei 06-15-2008, 12:30 AM yala,, fuzzy like a hardcore guys..keep smashing:eek::eek::eek:
no give face ..
samuel882 06-15-2008, 12:32 AM all of the four were same aga, but we could see clearly who have improve tremendously after their breaked up with ex partners
eaglehelang 06-15-2008, 12:32 AM Even the usual nervous Fairuz, facing team mates, now smashing like no tomm. Fuzzy must eating a lot of Tongkat Ali ginseng become Fuzzy bears, not Fuzzy brained anymore, he he
abedeng 06-15-2008, 12:32 AM Yellows far behind, suspect defence and lacking penetration in attack. Have to use angle to be competitive.
ye333 06-15-2008, 12:33 AM Simon trashed Smith 14,11; LCW toyed Persson 7,9. See the difference? :D
Anyway, does Simon have an ID here? :D
I'll ask the Aussie physical trainer for PBSI the next time I see him.
samuel882 06-15-2008, 12:34 AM Even the usual nervous Fairuz, facing team mates, now smashing like no tomm. Fuzzy must eating a lot of Tongkat Ali ginseng become Fuzzy bears, not Fuzzy brained anymore, he he
No need to be nerves facing own teammates, they know their ex partners' games very well
george@chongwei 06-15-2008, 12:34 AM wow...fairuz smash like no body`s business 1..13-7 now.
george@chongwei 06-15-2008, 12:35 AM dont tell me SS surf into badmintoncentral.com????:p huh?
abedeng 06-15-2008, 12:36 AM Being an all-Malaysian match, there is no gamesmanship here. I think the yellows need some.
Desperate yellows defence to no avail, 15-9 to blacks.
eaglehelang 06-15-2008, 12:37 AM all of the four were same aga, but we could see clearly who have improve tremendously after their breaked up with ex partners
Fuzzy improved on mental strength. Ha ha Shanghai Sports commentator said Gan/Lin "young" pair & FUzzy are senior, more experienced pair, LOL. They not familiar :D
abedeng 06-15-2008, 12:38 AM Error on serve, 16-10.
Long rally with some confusion for yellows, 17-10.
Dy_e4ia_TUC 06-15-2008, 12:38 AM Sure that ina xd will get the champion title, nolyn is unbeatable.. Hopefully..
Simon is in his best performance.. Never got too tired in d previous match n beated the opponent easily.. Aviva so is full of surprised.. Simon will give d last shocking surprise.. He..9x
INDONESIA BISA!!!
eaglehelang 06-15-2008, 12:39 AM No need to be nerves facing own teammates, they know their ex partners' games very well
That's what I meant. Commentator said in ,future China pairs must be careful of Fuzzy
abedeng 06-15-2008, 12:40 AM Magnificent net control, 13-18.
Another blacks error, 14-18.
abedeng 06-15-2008, 12:41 AM Perfect placement, 20-16 blacks.
madbad 06-15-2008, 12:41 AM My takes (based on order of play):
MD - already on court but I think the Fuzzy boys are hot at the moment and should win.
WS] - Tine will beat a tired ZM. Her form has swung up since the TC/UC where she was a little suspect. ZM seems to be out of sorts at the moment, so this points to a straight games win for Tine
WD - Unlike everyone, I think the TPE pair will upset the higher seeded but not necessarily better CHN tomboys. I feel Cheng/Chien can use their experience to quell the aggressive tendencies of Du/Yu.
XD - I predict the closest of all the final matches. 3 intense games ging in favour of Nova/Butet
MS - If LCW comes out aggressive and establishes his presence, he will take it comfortably. If he falls back on his tendencies to be defensive, it will allow Simon a chance. Regardless, the odds favour LCW heavily
MaLiq 06-15-2008, 12:42 AM LWF looks pissed at GTC..haha
he wont give high 5 when GTC lifted his hand for high5
lol
GTC kinda weak in defense
but all credit goes to the men in black
superior attack!n their teamwork is the best!
eaglehelang 06-15-2008, 12:43 AM And.... congrats to Fuzzy for winning 1st title since their partnership
Seeing it happen online
abedeng 06-15-2008, 12:43 AM Fuzzy guys won 21-18, 21-17. Scoreline is close, but not the match. One pair clearly superior over the other.
george@chongwei 06-15-2008, 12:43 AM and fuzzy pair wins the game~:)
samuel882 06-15-2008, 12:43 AM Gan/Lin tooked Koo/Tan 70 mins and 3 sets to settle them during National GP.
but they have no answer to fuzzy at all...
george@chongwei 06-15-2008, 12:44 AM wow, they do it like tennis....
after they won their match, they get to sign their signature on the camera screen:)
haha.
george@chongwei 06-15-2008, 12:45 AM Gan/Lin tooked Koo/Tan 70 mins and 3 sets to settle them during National GP.
but they have no answer to fuzzy at all...
fuzzy pair game style is keep smashing to gets points...but koo/tan style of play is hard to predict:rolleyes:
eaglehelang 06-15-2008, 12:45 AM Is this new trend in Spore? They asked Zakry & Fairuz to autograph on tv screen? kah kah
george@chongwei 06-15-2008, 12:46 AM Is this new trend in Spore? They asked Zakry & Fairuz to autograph on tv screen? kah kah
spore `kiasu` style:p:p
hehe..lol
wait... did he autograph on the tv camera lens? that's a first.
abedeng 06-15-2008, 12:46 AM Yes it does look like Lin is pissed off. Whether at Gan or himself.
eaglehelang 06-15-2008, 12:48 AM Gan/Lin tooked Koo/Tan 70 mins and 3 sets to settle them during National GP.
but they have no answer to fuzzy at all...
How abt this - Gan/Lin played better during National GP or this Spore SS?
KKK/TBH beat Fuzzy during ABC in April but also in 3 sets I think. A beat B, B beat C thingy.
**KZ** 06-15-2008, 12:48 AM GTC is definitely the weak link of the pair....weak defense especially at the forehand...when LWF was with fairuz he did quite well on the international stage at times....but when zakry was with GTC they didnt do well at all....
eaglehelang 06-15-2008, 12:50 AM wait... did he autograph on the tv camera lens? that's a first.
Yes, they did. Fuzzy also looked very puzzled, "huh? autograph on lens?" look
madbad 06-15-2008, 12:50 AM wait... did he autograph on the tv camera lens? that's a first.
It's great for badminton to have these types of promotions a la tennis.
Louisa 06-15-2008, 12:51 AM fuzzy pair game style is keep smashing to gets points...but koo/tan style of play is hard to predict:rolleyes:
That is why, i can't see the rationale behind sending Koo/Tan to OG08...Fuzzy keep improving while Koo/Tan stagnant...
Feel so sad for Fuzzy being excluded in OG08
abedeng 06-15-2008, 12:52 AM Now it's time for Tine and Zhou Mi.
Tine's good run of form is overdue, if not for that achilles injury a few years ago, she could have jostled with Xie for World no 1.
MaLiq 06-15-2008, 12:52 AM zhou mi vs tine rasmussen up next
im scared of tine!
she smashes the shuttle like nobody's business!!
graceful play vs power play
i'd bet on tine
samuel882 06-15-2008, 12:52 AM How abt this - Gan/Lin played better during National GP or this Spore SS?
KKK/TBH beat Fuzzy during ABC in April but also in 3 sets I think. A beat B, B beat C thingy.
Its the same Gan/Lin as usual style as in GP
I predict one of them will formed a new pair up with KKK after the Olympics.
For TBH, I hopes his new partner will be Lim Khim Wah
madbad 06-15-2008, 12:52 AM That is why, i can't see the rationale behind sending Koo/Tan to OG08...Fuzzy keep improving while Koo/Tan stagnant...
Feel so sad for Fuzzy being excluded in OG08
They're just hot at the right time
Louisa 06-15-2008, 12:53 AM It's great for badminton to have these types of promotions a la tennis.
Yes.....and brother, how good if you HHY plays in final....;)
george@chongwei 06-15-2008, 12:53 AM wait... did he autograph on the tv camera lens? that's a first.
yeap...congratulations to spore for being the 1st nations to do this type of thing in international badminton tournament event winners,.:)
they are so creative
abedeng 06-15-2008, 12:53 AM Ok, I will bet on ZM, kakakaka .......
george@chongwei 06-15-2008, 12:54 AM zhou mi vs tine rasmussen up next
im scared of tine!
she smashes the shuttle like nobody's business!!
graceful play vs power play
i'd bet on tine
its very hard to predict who will win this game...
this 2 also has a big smashing power.!:)
samuel882 06-15-2008, 12:55 AM ZM looks like a SI NAI :p
badMania 06-15-2008, 12:57 AM Mixed Doubles FINAL
Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir [1] vs Anthony Clark/Donna Kellogg [6] -- Anthony Clark has been INA's XD and MD pairs' achilles heel. This veteran English player always has something up his sleeves with his trickery and mind games. The last time I watched him play was the European Championships XD Final between Clark/Kellogg and Mateusiak/Kostiuczyk. The Poles were on their way to victory before Clark brought the English pair back and eventually won the European title in 3 sets. What's more worrying is that this English pair had beaten BOTH Nova/Butet and Flandy/Vita earlier this year, which will boost their confidence. On paper, the World Champion should take the game, but, it could be very close.
Men's Singles FINAL
Lee Chong Wei [1] vs Simon Santoso [6] -- Simon has done well to fulfill my expectation of him reaching another Super Series Final (with no worthy opponents in the lower half of the draw, as so many seeded players withdrew). However, it will take a Herculean effort to beat Lee Chong Wei. LCW to wrap it up in straight sets.
abedeng 06-15-2008, 12:57 AM Maybe this year will start the trend where non-CHN WS players can win an equal amount of major titles as CHN WS players.
Whether or not CHN plays .....
george@chongwei 06-15-2008, 12:57 AM see!!
that what i said...this 2 ladies have a big smashing power:)
wow
looks like charmaine reid had juz joined that guy for commentory.
abedeng 06-15-2008, 12:59 AM Zhou Mi has better shot selection than WMC, still balancing Tine's power.
Tine 6-5
madbad 06-15-2008, 01:00 AM Yes.....and brother, how good if you HHY plays in final....;)
Don't torture me with HHY. I feel her pain. WMC was just too good. Very upset :eek::eek:
samuel882 06-15-2008, 01:00 AM Come on ZM, Kill all those "safe" PAWers :p
eaglehelang 06-15-2008, 01:00 AM Its the same Gan/Lin as usual style as in GP
I predict one of them will formed a new pair up with KKK after the Olympics.
For TBH, I hopes his new partner will be Lim Khim Wah
I also predict one of Gan/Lin will partner KKK/TBH after OG. All the other pairs are being switched around as experiments esp the younger pairs.
Wee Kiong with Razif this 2 SS. Thailand Open Wee Kiong with CHan Peng Soon..... Looks like going one round to see who suits who better.
abedeng 06-15-2008, 01:01 AM Good Tine deception to baseline, and ZM error makes it 10-6
eaglehelang 06-15-2008, 01:01 AM Don't torture me with HHY. I feel her pain. WMC was just too good. Very upset :eek::eek:
Madbad, I thought you like Japanese cuties, Korea cuties also ?
ZM seems to be starting patient.
Tine just want to smash smash smash.
nice to see so many ppl wearing yellow shirts in the audience.

simonlovers 06-15-2008, 01:23 AM C'mon Tine...just 2 sets...
madbad 06-15-2008, 01:23 AM Superior net play gives ZM a 11-9 lead at the interval
the unfortunately thing with ZM is that she usually only last around 1.5 games.
abedeng 06-15-2008, 01:25 AM Well constructed attack, ZM 12-11
Tjun Tjun 06-15-2008, 01:26 AM the unfortunately thing with ZM is that she usually only last around 1.5 games.

badMania 06-15-2008, 01:33 AM Tine Rasmussen wins her 3rd SS titles this year as she beat Zhou Mi 21-19, 21-17. She will be China's greatest obstacle to a Women's Singles Gold Medal in Beijing.
madbad 06-15-2008, 01:33 AM A smiling Tine signs the camera
Jessica 06-15-2008, 01:33 AM Tine is very scary..She is the hottest player for Olympic gold medal..She should play tennis instead of badminton..So powerful...Haha..

i though malaysia also have Mega Sale?:p
hehe
correct me if im wrong.
ZM, two crucial mistakes at 18-18 and 18-19 cost her the 2nd set.
but overall, Tine has mostly the upper hand with her speed and power. Zhou Mi might be the most powerful WS player behind Tine.
Tine Rasmussen beat Zhou Mi 21-19 / 21-17
george@chongwei 06-15-2008, 01:39 AM now its time for lucky draw!!!!!!!!!1
i want the car!!:p:p:p:p
Seasider 06-15-2008, 01:39 AM especially his smash!!!
look at the power.
It's 'her' not 'his', Tine is NOT a man, LOL.
cooler 06-15-2008, 01:39 AM ZM might have an edge in technique but tine power and speed easily handle the tired ZM.
abedeng 06-15-2008, 01:40 AM Actually ZM could cope with Tine, but she herself cannot fully find her range.
Still a worthy runnerup.
So now all but one SS WS title in 2008 are won by non-CHN. And 6 of the last 10 SS, including Singapore.
Never mind that CHN didn't send top players here.
cooler 06-15-2008, 01:40 AM now its time for lucky draw!!!!!!!!!1
i want the car!!:p:p:p:pa proton?

mazda..the red colour 1...
would be more appropriate if it is a yellow one..
madbad 06-15-2008, 01:43 AM OK, now since many PAWed Du/Yu, I will cheer for Cheng/Chien.
GO TPE!!
abedeng 06-15-2008, 01:44 AM Now that none of us here won the Mazda, time for me to take a break, ease myself and have a good cup of coffee.
madbad 06-15-2008, 01:45 AM so how does it work? does the winner have to pay for the COE or is that also paid for?

extremenanopowe 06-15-2008, 02:00 AM Looking at their faces and tenacity, power really fools everyone. That tomboy cut sure put some nerves to their opponent. I wonder if other ladies would follow them.
