Badminton: Zakry-Fairuz finally earn their stripes
By : K.M. Boopathy (boopathy@nstp.com.my)
http://www.nst.com.my/Wednesday/Sport/2270451/insidepix1
The Zakry (left)-Fairuz combination has finally earned the confidence of their coach Rexy Mainaky.
THE breakthrough has taken almost 15 months but national doubles coach Rexy Mainaky is glad to see Zakry Latif-Fairuzizuan Tazari finally fitting into the role as the successors to veterans Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah.
Tan Fook, 33, and Wan Wah, 34, have hinted that they may call it quits next year and Rexy said Zakry-Fairuz have given their own career a major boost by winning their first title, the Singapore Open, on Sunday.
Despite the potential shown by Zakry-Fairuz, both 25, after reaching the final of the Indonesia Open in May 2007, inconsistency had remained a bane and they almost reached a stage when their promising career could have come to a premature end.
However, Rexy said the change was seen during last month's Thomas Cup Finals in Jakarta and is looking forward to Zakry-Fairuz building on the momentum to establish themselves as the genuine replacements for Tan Fook-Wan Wah when the veterans decide to retire.
"This (Singapore Open) victory was long overdue as Zakry-Fairuz had it in them to become a top class pair.
"It is timely for them as they can now work towards claiming their status as the pair who will take over from Tan Fook and Wan Wah," said Rexy.
"In fact, they could have been considered for the Beijing Olympics if not for their inconsistency and lack of focus but it may be a blessing in disguise.
"Since they won't be competing in the Olympics, this is the time for Zakry-Fairuz to focus on winning more Super Series titles. The top pairs competing in the Olympics will normally take some time before returning to the top flight again and the period must be utilised by Zakry and Fairuz to maintain their form.
"There is the World Championships (in India) next year and Zakry-Fairuz should focus on doing well in that tournament."
There was also some reprieve for Rexy as it was the first title won by the national doubles players this year.
The pressure was evident as his charges had won a total of seven titles last year and four were captured in the first half of the year.
"We now have three world class pairs and I am looking forward to them winning more now that the barren spell has been broken," said Rexy.
"Koo (Kien Keat) and Tan (Boon Heong) haven't won a title yet while Tan Fook-Wan Wah also have it in them to achieve success late in their career. Zakry-Fairuz's victory will probably give a positive turnaround for the entire squad."

Success does not come fast or easy for Fuzzy pair. They had to struggle long & hard bf achieving little bit sucess. 25 years old only win 1st title, for Zakry that is.
And if Rexy's public statement is anything to go by, they're to replace uncles means 1st MD pair. It's KKK/TBH replace uncles, Rexy said Fuzzy replace. Could also mean KKK/TBH will split aft OG.

Shuttler Chong Wei scores a first in lopsided final
KUALA LUMPUR: National number one Lee Chong Wei gave a show of class to emerge as the first Malaysian to win the Singapore Open men's singles title at the republic's indoor stadium yesterday.
The world number two and top seed Chong Wei took only 29 minutes to crush Simon Santoso of Indonesia 21-13, 21-5 in one of the most lopsided men's singles finals in a Super Series event.
And Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif-Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari made it a more memorable outing for Malaysia by winning their first career men's doubles title – beating compatriots Gan Teik Chai-Woon Lin Fui 21-18, 21-17 in the final.

The day belonged to Chong Wei, who only faced some resistance from Simon for the first five minutes of the match. A 15-0 lead in the second game underlined Chong Wei total domination of the match.
“It was a good win for me. I remember, I was in the final here in 2004 but I let slip the chance to win the title then (losing to Kenneth Jonassen of Denmark). This time, I got it right,” said Chong Wei in a telephone interview from Singapore yesterday.
“I did not anticipate taking a huge lead against Simon. But I did not look down on him despite leading 15-love. I just stayed focused.
“The win does give me some confidence ahead of the Olympic Games. But I do not want to be over confident. There is so much work to be done to be better for the Beijing Olympics in August.”
Meanwhile, Chong Wei has decided not to move on to Jakarta for the Indonesian Open, which starts on Wednesday. The others who also withdrew are Wong Choong Hann and Wong Mew Choo.

But Zakry-Fairuzizuan will be making a bid for another good run in Indonesia.
Zakry said that it was a big relief that they finally won a first Open title after many failed attempts since he paired up with Fairuzizuan last year.
“I am happy that we took our chances well in the absence of many top players. In fact, this is my first Open title in my badminton career,” said Zakry, who dedicated the win to his father.
“But we do not want to win here and lose in the first round at the Indonesia. We want to be a consistent pair.”
In the women's singles, Denmark's Tine Rasmussen continued to show that she is now a serious Olympic title contender after winning her fourth Open title in Singapore yesterday. She defeated Hong Kong's Zhou Mi 21-19, 21-17.

The Zakry (left)-Fairuz combination has finally earned the confidence of their coach Rexy Mainaky.
Thinking along the same lines with Rexy, Za-Fa should now focus on doing well in the World Championships (in India) next year.
It's time for MAS to win the MD GOLD in the World Badminton Championships.
Talking about their nicknames...
(1) I nicknamed them "Fa-Za". I was thinking of the letter "F" coming before "Z".
(2) erin_hakkinen nicknamed them "Za-Fa", perhaps she was thinking of the band Zafa, a funky Yemen band. :):):)
(3) From "Za-Fa", Oldhand must have been reminded of Jaffas: click here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaffas_%28candy), therefore thinking of them as "M&M". :D:D:D
(4) However, most BCers have nicknamed them "Fuzzy" already. Although eaglehelang thinks that "Fuzzy Bears" sounds stronger and fiercer.:cool::cool:

Source: The Star Online (http://www.thestar.com.my/sports/story.asp?file=/2008/6/23/sports/21628031&sec=sports)
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia have finally nailed the Indonesian Open men’s doubles title that had eluded them for 18 years with Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif-Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari rising to the occasion to win it yesterday.
And even stomach cramps to Fairuzizuan did not deter the Malaysian duo, who were seeded eighth, from giving their best to beat 2000 Sydney Olympics gold medallists Tony Gunawan-Candra Wijaya 19-21, 21-18, 21-14 in a 53-minute final at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta yesterday.
With the win over the American-Indonesian combination yesterday, Zakry-Fairuzizuan are the only second Malaysian pair after Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong to win back-to-back international Open titles.
http://www.thestar.com.my/archives/2008/6/23/sports/s_58fairuzizan.jpg Simply the best: Zakry and Fairuzizuan celebrating after they beat Tony Gunawan-Candra Wijaya to win the Indonesia Open.
They were the champions at the Singapore Open last week.
Fairuzizuan almost gave up after suffering from stomach cramp when they were leading 17-14 in the opening game.
“We went on the attack from the start. It was very close as we exchanged the lead several times until we took the lead. Then, I felt the pain in my stomach after going for several smashes,” said Fairuzizuan in a telephone interview from Jakarta yesterday.
“I felt like fainting due to the sharp pain. I hung on but we lost the game. We are playing in the final and we did not want to give up. I was determined to stay focussed and with strong support from Zakry, we bounced back strongly to score this memorable win.
“We believe in each other’s ability and I think, the trust was the key to our success.”
Zakry said that it was proud moment for them to be the first Malaysian men’s doubles champions in an Open tournament of a country known for their prowess in the game.
“Our target this year was to win one title and we have now done better with two. We are feeling very confident of ourselves now, especially after having beaten an experienced pair like Tony and Candra,” he said.
It is the second win in three meetings for Zakry-Fairuzizuan over the vastly experienced pair. Their other win was also achieved in the Indonesian Open, in the semi-finals last year.
“We wished that we had struck such good form earlier when we were fighting for a place in the Beijing Olympics. But we will continue to work hard and be recognised as a pair who can perform consistently well in tournaments,” said Zakry.
Zakry-Fairuzizuan are down to play in the Thailand Open, which start on Wednesday. But they are waiting for the green light from doubles chief coach Rexy Mainaky to opt out of the tournament.

Precisely, looks are deceiving ;);). They look like some 'blur' cuddly toy but they show other wise, he he. Better than just "Fuzzy" cos it means brain always full of cobwebs. Nahhh, no such thing, just glad they finally won sthing.
Some said they beat some Cap Ayam (Chicken brand) pairs in SO. Wasnt their fault other pairs disposed of the 2 Denmark uncle pairs, the 2 Japanense pair & China no 2 pair (Zakry must thank his bro for that).
Only one Cap Harimau (Tiger brand) pair in their path in IO. The cap Harimau pair already beat the WR#1 pair earlier, so next time only we'll know if they can beat Kido/Setiawan.
Ah ha, maybe we can also call them "Cap Beruang" pair, in the hope that they will be strong, mighty & fierce.

Badminton/Indonesia Open: Zakry-Fairuz join the elite club
By K.M. Boopathy
2008/06/23
ZAKRY Latif-Fairuzizuan Tazari can now stake claim to be one of the elite combinations in world men's doubles after securing their second straight Super Series title at the Indonesia Open in Jakarta yesterday. Zakry-Fairuz, the World No 13, came back from a game down to beat former Olympic champions Candra Wijaya of Indonesia and Tony Gunawan of the United States 19-21, 21-18, 21-14 in 53 minutes at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
They are the second Malaysian pair to claim back-to-back Super Series crowns after Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong as they had won the Singapore Open last week. Kien Keat-Boon Heong clinched the All England and Swiss Open back-to-back last year.
Victory did not come easy for the Malaysian pair as Fairuz was carrying a slight knee strain but they were solid enough to deny Candra-Tony their second Indonesia Open crown in three years.
There were also some anxious moments as Zakry-Fairuz allowed Candra-Tony to reduce the deficit from 19-12 to 19-18 in the second game but closed the door on their opponents by securing the next two points. The Malaysians then took complete control of the deciding third game to win 21-14.
Not only did Zakry-Fairuz earn their biggest purse to date, US$18,000 (RM58,500), yesterday, but will also break into the top 10 when the weekly world ranking is released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) on Thursday.
National doubles coach Rexy Mainaky said in Kuala Lumpur yesterday the pair's latest win will be a major boost and they must aim to win more Super Series titles and also target the World Championships in India next year.
"They have proved that they can be consistent by winning their second consecutive title and beating one of world's top pairs. Zakry-Fairuz must aim for other Super Series titles and also the World Championship," said Rexy.
"The positive change was evident especially with Fairuz, who is very serious in training and focused in tournaments. They must not let the momentum slip as this is just the start for better things to come.
"Remaining level-headed at all times is something they must remember and if they continue to work hard, they can keep on winning and also beat other pairs in the world."
"Zakry-Fairuz have shown they are successors to Choong (Tan Fook) and Lee (Wan Wah). I also hope that their success will motivate Koo-Tan and Choong-Lee to do well in the Beijing Olympics (in August)," Rexy added.
Zakry and Fairuz have withdrawn from the Thailand Open which begins on Wednesday in order to help the latter recover from the knee strain he suffered in Indonesia.
Hosts Indonesia captured two titles through Sony Dwi Kuncoro in the men's singles and Vita Marissa-Lilyana Natsir in the women's doubles.
Sony beat compatriot Simon Santoso 19-21, 21-14, 21-9 while Vita-Lilyana beat Japan's Miyuki Maeda-Satoko Suetsuna 21-15, 21-14.

"Some said they beat some Cap Ayam (Chicken brand) pairs in SO" :o
Sometimes I find Malaysia Boleh fans feel insecure when Malaysian shuttlers win something. I mean MZ/MF winning both the SO & IO is a good thing. But why bring in things like Cap Ayam or Cap Harimau etc etc? The minority and majority thingy?? :o What la.
MZ/MF won the SO & IO, period. I hope they be focused and grounded because they have the potential to achieve much more.
And please leave comments such as Cap Ayam etc on the sidelines.

Aiyooo, like that also want to comment. Someone else started the "Cap Ayam" thingy in another thread stime ago & another person brought it up in the IO finals thread. The person who started the "Cap Ayam" happen to like Fuzzy. They know who they are & what I mean, it's all in the fun.
Other people said "Cap Ayam" can, eagle say "Cap Ayam" cannot? hiyaaa ;):)
There are those who said sthing to the effect of hold your horses lah, wait they become big time Charlie lah.
Praise cannot, dont praise also want to comment comment:p :D
I hope this pair will enjoy more success in the years to come since they are still young at 25. But as many have commented, I also hope they will not let success get into their heads too early and destroy their future. If they remain humble and committed to training as they are now, I'm sure they will improve further under Rexy.
En-route to their victory at the recent Aviva Open Singapore 2008, they managed to defeat their compatriots who should know their game well. And to top it up with a back-to-back win at the just concluded Djarum Indonesian Open by beating Olympic veterans, Tony Gunawan and Candra Wijaya, this "Fuzzy" pair has arrived and confirmed that they are the pair to watch in the near term. They may even outshine KKK/TBH and put Malaysia in an enviable position of possessing so many top class MD pairs. ;)
"Fuzzy" pair Aviva Open Singapore victory results:
R1 - Choong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah (MAS) w.o.
R2 - Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki/Rian Sukmawan (INA) 21-18, 21-12 (27min)
QF - Koh Chung Chiat/Tan Bin Shen 21-23, 21-13, 21-7 (MAS) (38)
SF - Cho Gun Woo/Yoo Yeon Seong (KOR) 21-17, 21-15 (32)
F - Gan Teik Chai/Lin Woon Fui (MAS) 21-18, 21-17 (33)
During the Indonesian Open, they again beat the Korean pair in R2 but it was more difficult as the score of 14-21, 23-21, 21-15 in 53 min indicated. They might have lost the second game and match! If these pairs should meet again, it would be very interesting to watch!

To answer the questions from momotaro86 and whatever,
BAM submitted to the BWF before the deadline for submission of the list for the Beijing Olympic Games 2008 on 31-May-2008; Only the top two pairs, namely Choong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah and Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong, will be going to the OG 2008.
The decision was made by the BAM Coaching and Training Committee in May. To date, there is no change.
BERNAMA released this article yesterday, Monday 23-Jun-2008.

Third doubles pair dropped from Beijing Olympics Badminton
BERNAMA
KUALA LUMPUR, MONDAY 23-Jun-2008:
Although the national third doubles pair of Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari/Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif had shown improved performance, lifting two titles in the Super Series within the last two weeks, the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) maintained its earlier decision of not listing them for the Olympic Games in Beijing in August.
BAM general manager Kenny Goh said only the top two pairs were included in the Beijing squad namely Choong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah and Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong as decided by the BAM Coaching and Training Committee in May.
“The committee had decided to list only the two best pairs for Beijing. At that time, Tan Fook/Wan Wah were number one and Kien Keat/Boon Heong were the second national doubles pair.
“So, their names were submitted to the Badminton World Federation (BWF) before the deadline for submission of the list for the Olympics on May 31. To date, there is no change,” he said when contacted, here today.
Prior to that date, Tan Fook/Wan Wah were ranked fourth in the world, Kien Keat/Boon Heong were fifth while Mohd Fairuzizuan/Mohd Zakry were 16th.

Badminton: Zakry-Fairuz to focus on next year's World Championships
By : K.M. BOOPATHY (boopathy@nst.com.my)
http://www.nst.com.my/Wednesday/Sport/2282864/insidepix1
Zakry (left) and Fairuzizuan missed the boat to Beijing.
THE disappointment of missing the Beijing Olympics will linger but Zakry Latif-Fairuzizuan Tazari intend to make up for it by focusing on next year's World Championships.
Their back-to-back Super Series wins in the Singapore Open and Indonesia Open came just seven weeks after the Olympic qualifying period ended at the end of April.
Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong and Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah have been confirmed as Malaysia's representatives in Beijing.
Zakry and Fairuz, both 25, rue the missed chance as time may not be on their side for the 2012 London Olympics but the former said they need to move on as there are other objectives to achieve.
The World Championships in India on Aug 10-16, 2009, will be the priority where Zakry-Fairuz will be aiming to reach at least the semi-finals and break into the top eight. "We only aimed for a Super Series title initially but instead have won two. It's nice to see all our hard work paying off," said Zakry.
"Our Thomas Cup outings, first in the qualifying rounds (in Ho Chi Minh City) and the final rounds (in Jakarta) played a major part in on our rise."
"In Vietnam, we failed miserably and there was plenty of criticism. This changed our attitude in training and our focus on tournaments also improved."
"It is very disappointing that we won't be able to play in the Olympics. Probably Beijing wasn't to be our destiny but there goals we can achieve," added Zakry.
Zakry said fitness is the area where they need o improve as the pair struggled in their second tournament, the Indonesia Open.
Fairuz also picked up a knee strain but was fortunate it didn't prevent him from winning the second title with Zakry.

Shuttlers given breathing space as they prepare for Beijing
KUALA LUMPUR: The Beijing Olympic Games may be just around the corner but that hasn’t stopped the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) from giving their shuttlers some breathing space.
Yesterday, chief coach Yap Kim Hock said that except for training time, players were free to do their own thing.
This move, said Kim Hock, is to help the players cope with the pressure of preparing for the Olympics.
“Too much focus (on the Olympics) is not good for the players. I have allowed them to do their normal activities,” said Kim Hock.
“But I only demand one thing from them – that they give their undivided attention during training sessions. There cannot be any distractions during training sessions.”
Kim Hock had also allowed the coaches to conduct their training sessions at different venues.
Yesterday, national singles coach Misbun Sidek trained his players at the Michael Academy in Puchong; doubles chief coach Rexy Mainaky took his boys to the gymnasium after a planned hill training was postponed due to rain; and national singles coach Wong Tat Meng trained Wong Choong Hann at the Gymnasium Two in Bukit Jalil.
Kim Hock said that the Olympic squad would train together at the Stadium Juara in Bukit Kiara from July 21.
“Everyone will be together when centralised training starts. Next week, we will also name five sparring partners (two singles and three doubles players), who will accompany these players to Beijing,” he said.
Malaysia will leave for Beijing on Aug 4 – five days before the badminton competition begins.
“Our request to use a training hall just five minutes away from the venue has been granted.”

My friend, you didnt read the update on 8 july 2008 ;). It was announced in the major dailies. Since you're into colours, let's colour2 today :
Sparing partners = Tan Chun Seang, Chong Wei Feng (for LCW & WMC), James Chua (for WCH), Fuzzy (for MD & WD?).
Zakry-Fairuz going as sparring partners
By By Ajitpal Singhajitpalsingh@nst.com.my
2008/07/08
WORLD No 10 Zakry Latif-Fairuzizuan Tazari, who failed to qualify, will nonetheless accompany the badminton squad to the Beijing Olympic Games as sparring partners. The others picked to spar with the Olympic-bound players are up-and-coming shuttlers Tan Chun Seang, Chong Wei Feng and veteran James Chua.
National chief coach Yap Kim Hock said the shuttlers were selected by singles coaches Misbun Sidek and Wong Tat Meng and doubles coach Rexy Mainaky.
"The coaching committee agreed that our shuttlers needed quality sparring partners in Beijing," said Kim Hock at the National Sports Council (NSC) in Bukit Jalil yesterday.
"We regard those selected as sparring partners, except for James, as future Olympians and wanted them to experience the feel in Beijing."
The shuttlers who will be competing in the Olympics are World No 2 Lee Chong Wei, Wong Choong Hann, Wong Mew Choo, Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah, Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong and Wong Pei Tty-Chin Eei Hui.
The squad leave for Beijing on Aug 4.
Badminton, scheduled for Aug 9-17, will be held at the Beijing University of Technology gymnasium.
Kim Hock said the BAM has also booked a badminton arena near the tournament venue for training purposes. "It's only five minutes from the venue. We have also decided that our training sessions will be behind closed doors."
Meanwhile, Zakry said he was happy to be part of the team to Beijing.
"I'm determined to help my teammates prepare well for their respective events," he said.
Zakry-Fairuzizuan failed to qualify as Tan Fook-Wan Wah and Kien Keat-Boon Heong were ranked higher when the qualifying period ended.
Mew Choo, the World No 10, said she's happy to have sparring partners in the team.
"It will definitely help me condition myself before my event. However, it would have been better if there was one woman sparring partner in the team. Training with men is hard as they are much faster and fitter," said Mew Choo, who has the game to deny China the Olympic gold medal in the women's singles.

Fuzzy must be feeling not good....go beijing only as sparring partner....:(
Rexy already stated in the press that many players doesn't treat the sparring session seriously, thus no matter they go to Bejing or not . It shouldnt be any reflections on the 2 pairs perfomance:cool:

Opposites combine
They are perfect partners in court, but once outside, they are worlds apart.
WATCHING doubles stars Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif and Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari in action will lead one to conclude that the duo form a perfect partnership. They seem to know each other’s every move, without having to say a word. Needless to say, their exceptional understanding on court has made them one of the hottest pairs in the world at the moment.
Despite only combining forces over a year ago, they surprised the badminton world by defying the odds and winning back-to-back titles in Singapore and Indonesia. It was a remarkable effort that has suddenly propelled them into the limelight.
While they form a near-perfect combination on the court, Zakry and Fairuzizuan admitted that they do not share similar interests aside from badminton. “We are a new pair but we feel comfortable with each other; we read each other well. It’s not surprising if fans think we spend a lot of time doing similar activities after badminton,” said Fairuzizuan.
http://thestar.com.my/archives/2008/7/22/lifefocus/f_pg11tazari.jpg Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif (back) and Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari during a training session at Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.
Fairuzizuan is a movie fan. “No lovey-dovey romance stuff for me. I can watch anything but that,” joked the eligible bachelor. He catches up with all the latest movies in town the minute he has a break. It’s relaxing, he says.
Zakry, on the other hand, is the outdoor type and would rather spend his free time fishing. “I love fishing but unfortunately, I don’t have much time for it as training takes up most of my life,” he said.
“Whenever there’s a break, I will head off to some fishing spots, near or far. I have my own ‘gang’ and we try to get together as often as possible. It’s more fun fishing with friends as it can be boring waiting for the fish to bite.”
Fairuzizuan and Zakry are bitter rivals when it comes to football. Zakry’s a diehard Liverpool fan while his partner supports Manchester United.
The bickering which goes on during the football season would make one think they are sworn enemies. “People who don’t know us, must assume we hate each other’s guts,” said Fairuzizuan, who showed up for the interview wearing a Manchester United jersey.
We are always arguing over which club is better and who has better players. Of course, recent head-to-head results favour the Red Devils so there is not much Zakry can say.”
Differences aside, the duo who created waves in the badminton scene are likely to continue winning more titles in the years to come.
“Our target is to become world champions by 2010. If we continue on this path, I am confident we will make it,” said Zakry.
“We are both 25 and nearing the peak of our careers. I don’t think it is an impossible goal if we continue to train hard and listen to our coaches.”
Fairuzizuan concurred with his partner: “Our recent wins in the Super Series have boosted our confidence and we are determined to live up to our coach’s expectations.”
The duo missed out on the Olympics, but at the rate they are progressing, they will make it to the next Games four years from now.

Aha, there you are... it's from The Star Online :)
You've already credited it, although it needs a bit more detail.
Let's say I post here the text of a copyrighted article:
'Players Take Up The Fight Against Match-Fixing In Badminton'
I would credit the source and the date by mentioning both (in this case: the website 'Play The Game' / 21 July 2008), provide a hyperlink (http://www.playthegame.org/News/Up_To_Date/Players_take_up_the_fight_against_match_fixing_in_ badminton_21070001.aspx) to the actual article if available online, and credit the writer or agency (in this case, Maria Suurballe) :)

In an engagement ceremony,it it ok to wear casual, for me.Because it's common here for the malays.
In fact, the presence of Fairuz is not 'compulsory'.
Shirt with collar is also casual and nicer for the eyes to see.

That's just an engagement ceremony, not wedding. I go to malay wedding wearing T-shirt & jeans, if it's held at the their house, which normally is.

LOL, I do (collared though) & so do 80% of the people in the area - and that's for malay wedding lunch some more. Some even come in their work clothes, no time to change, same goes for me. Of course I'm talking about the buffet style ones held in tents right outside the bride/groom house.
Most important is the amount in the ang pow for the newlyweds, clothing is secondary :p(they're more appreciative of the ang pow, hehe).
Anyway, congrats to Fairuz, hope they'll have a nice wedding too later on.

hehe - I can only interpret this as a lack of knowledge that illness has on the physical performace of a player.
Because of illness?
Why everytime in big game mas shuttlers always fall sick?
- CTF/LWW in TC08
- The Fuzzy in AE09
I think that KKK/TBH also not medical fit enough, and also DLCW when he play LD in the final. Otherwise, mas will be able to win 2 title - MS, MD.

1) We'll comment the same about other country players if they fall sick/injured. This AE, Sony K. had back injury had to withdraw halfway, Kido knee injury cannot even go. Bona of Bona/Ahsan it seems was also injured along the course of the tourney. So, when a player/pair lost, we'll say it was due to injury/illness that he/she was suffering from.
One INA fan commented why this AE INA players quite a number injured, etc, so concidence.:p
England's Nathan R. fell sick, couldnt even play at all. Chen Jin had his back injury which led to his retiring(again) middle of set 2 in Semi, if one want , can blame CJ for being injury prone or whatever.
WCH apparently was also playing with injured(Limsy, can confirm?) he got during German Open, he lost in 1st round of AE.
And of course, the famous incident of Simon injuring his ankle playing our Fuzzy
2) How is that everytime? They didnt fall sick every year during AE or TC, or during WC, or together, same time, etc, etc. There're many other examples, no need mention, too long winded.
On how illness effects a person, I'll leave that to our Dr Cheung :D:D:D
Understand you're frustrated but dont have to read too much into the posts. When I heard news SOny had to withdraw due to injury, also comment, aiyoo injured again, hope he get well soon, nothing more.

Illness is not a suitable word. It should be 'Mentally Weak'.

he is the one and ONLY ONE good player from the pair....if he still patner fairuz in future...he can just hug his sgo 08,io 08 thorpy to death....;)...SPLIT....
tell him ask rexy to split....teo kok siang is the best replacer of fairuz....brilliant at the net....but yes...fairuz smash is stronger...but will LANDED OUTSIDE THE COURT....;)...ops...sound like hafiz...
rexy should learn...fairuz never a material of champion....NEVER....
why i say so????u go replay 2nd set....fairuz throw the lead...from 7-3....with all kind of error...if his error in 2nd set less than 8....i change my name to fairuzlover:rolleyes:
hehe....fairuz never learn his lesson....how can someone like him pair with wpt in xd????
expected....hehe...half from japanese points from fairuz error...hehe....
fairuz do more than 8 mistake....this set....zakry should scold him like how zb do to ma jin...hehe
hopeless when fairuz on court....

you really have to feel for zakry. fairuz just doesn't look the part, i don't think they'll ever been a world class pair. sure they've won a couple of SS tournaments when the big guns weren't around, but i think zakry would be better placed to realize his potential with a better partner, maybe his kid brother.

coach can't make much difference in a player's attitude.
the coach are there just to support and motivate the players;)
the most important thing is whether the player themselves want to change their attitude and they themselves at the same time will know whats the best in them actually;)

Yeah.. almost champion material.
Our players tend to get over excited or pumped during sets. But once that momentum is broken.. they find it hard to regain it back. That is what happened to our players. That is the only area of improvement that they need IMO.

too bad...at least KKK/TBH yoyoing but winning titles once a while
eventhough only Trgn Open, macau open...
but seriously after the HKO 1st round exit of so-called Fuzzy
i think BAM or Rexy should consider to keep them as a pair
ior at least to relegate them to 3rd or 4th Msia MD...
if they consistently bow out in 1st or 2nd round of SS
what the point to keep on sending them out and deny the
other pairs a chance?
we do not if CPS/LKW, HTH/OSH, MHC/TWK or others can
perform better, but i think they should be given chance
rather than keeping hopes on Fuzzy...:cool::cool:
