View Full Version : U.S. Open 2008
ctjcad 06-26-2008, 05:12 PM ..well, are we gonna dance or are we gonna play??..
Okay, okay, maybe it's a bit early, but i just have this itch to discuss it...:p
Draws are not up yet, but list of entries here:
http://www.internationalbadminton.org/usopengp/USA_MQ_report_version_3_24_june_2008.xls
-As mentioned by Hau-ge in the other tournament thread, the list of entries is not very enticing, as in previous yrs; perhaps because this is an Olympic yr?!.
Nope, our Jun Jae Youn won't be coming back to defend her WS title, nor would Lee Tsuen Tseng to defend his MS title; nor would the always favorite & magnetic Nippon gals to defend their WD titles, along with their men's squad to defend their MD & XD titles...:(
However, there are still some interesting players to look out for..
-Looks like Tony G. won't be participating.
-I'll be looking fw to seeing NorCal's very own Leonard Holvy De Pauw competing in his inaugural U.S. Open tourney, in the MS event. He could be a dark horse to win it this yr, after being a spectator in last yr's edition.
-Lots of well known and new local players, both from SoCal and NorCal, will be there. Maybe i'll see some familiar BCers from NorCal, back to SoCal, again...;)
-Quite a few familiar names, from last yr's edition, will be there as well.
-And of course, our loyal Canadian friends, from up north, will bring their talents and energy, once again.
*Btw, looking for the sub-forum/thread that was created earlier by kwun, but is no longer there.. kwun, do you mind merging this thread with an existing one or include it in the same tournament sub-forum, if you still have it stored away temporarily?? :)
ctjcad 06-26-2008, 05:51 PM ...only the WS will have a Qualifying round..

huangkwokhau 06-26-2008, 07:23 PM Tony wont be back to US until end of July.
He will represent East Java for PON and either to team up with Bambamg Supriyanto to Trikus...he is in Surabaya now for training.........
ctjcad 06-26-2008, 08:58 PM ..bummer..that's what i thought also...hmm, is that one of the reason you won't be back to L.A., soon??.. ;)
ctjcad 06-26-2008, 09:32 PM ..here is the poster of this yr's U.S. Open along with the infos (for those interested to go and watch):

With US$100,000 prize money, it's still categorized in GP level. Hmm, looking forward US Open becomes GP Gold tourney or even Super Series someday...
ctjcad 06-27-2008, 02:38 AM ..there are 2 types/levels of Grand Prix tourneys in BWF. One is the reg. Grand Prix, which has a minimum prize money of $50,000. And the other being the Grand Prix Gold, which has a minimum prize money of $120,000...and the latter is, hopefully, where the future U.S. Opens are headed....I believe right now, the U.S. Open is still considered a 2* tourney..
madbad 06-27-2008, 03:56 AM Sorry Chris, no Jun Jae Youn:(:(, no madbad. That's how I roll, baby :D:D:D
CLELY 06-27-2008, 11:27 PM Sorry Chris, no Jun Jae Youn:(:(, no madbad. That's how I roll, baby :D:D:D
Jun Jae Youn as defending champion misses US open this time but many Canadian player to participate here maybe you will cheer them, madbad...
ctjcad 06-27-2008, 11:40 PM ...yeah, at least you could drive all the way down here to support them...*boo*.. http://www.addemoticons.com/emoticon/animated/AddEmoticons04211.gif
george@chongwei 06-27-2008, 11:54 PM fully agree with CLELY:p
huangkwokhau 06-28-2008, 08:47 PM Even Vietnam Challenger has much much better field.....more ranked players than US open....very sad.....
It is fun to PAW as we are totally blind....hehe....BIG Points...Big points....

Btw, for PAWing purposes, yeah, it'll be like picking blindly for this U.S. Open (at least for you guys who haven't seen the players play)...but maybe our smashie54 could give some hints??..:cool:;)

..daydreaming here:p, but hmm, i wonder if it would be possible if the U.S. Open gets another major sponsor, say the UCB (United Commercial Bank), which recently sponsored the $20,000 Bay Area Championships (http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53502)??...That way, the U.S. Open can become a GP Gold tourney; OCBC can sponsor half ($60,000) and UCB can sponsor the other half($60,000)??..:cool:
madbad 06-29-2008, 12:00 PM Just went through the draw and yup, it's devoid of big names. Mind you there are a few recognizable ones (Debeka, Wojkliewicz, Evans, Koch) plus a few up and comers (Martin, Thomsen of DEN). Top MS and WS seeds are Canadians (!) and our dear smashie is seeded #7. Dangerous floater (unseeded) in the WD is Reid/Grether. Halim is playing MD with Rai Raju??
Sad that no Asian countries of note have sent players and there are lots of Americans making up the numbers. Even if only the MS and WS defending champs returned, it would have been worth watching. I guess in the case of JJY, it's full scale prep for the OG.

NEP - Indra Mehata, Pankaj Chand, Ram Singh Chaudhari
IND - Aravind Gangani, Sabyasachi Ghosh
PHI - Christopher Flores
TPE - Li Ying Chang, Shih Chieh Hung, Pei Ling Tsai, Chia Chen Yang

I would like to share some thoughts about US Open.:)
Reasons why not to go there:
1. Too far from both Europe and Asia, tickets are expensive (especially nowadays).
2. Very different time zone, a few days are necessary to get adapted, and then need to adapt back.
3. Headache with getting US visa (this concerns not all the countries, but many).
4. Unfortunate period of year: qualification to OG or WC already finished, OG or WC are coming soon, and nobody (among top players) needs the ranking points "badly".
Reasons why to go there (I've found only one):
1. Very good ratio of "Ranking points"/"Tournament level". Most of Challengers in Asia and Europe attract more good players, while offer less ranking points and prize money.
On the other hand, ranking points are not too big to attract top players. But it can be enough to attract top players with low ranking (e.g. after injury). Examples: PG in 2002, JJY last year, and many others.
Another example is the Russian team two years ago. As you may remember, in 2006 we have a battle between two National Federations...:( it is a long story, I don't like going deep into the details, but one thing is important: most of our top players supported the new Federation (NFBR), but at that time NFBR was not allowed to send players to international tournaments (though some players left with the old Federation were sent to some tourneys). As a result our main national team had missed the Thomas and Uber Cup (European qualification round), and European Championship, as well as all the other tournaments in the first half of 2006. Well, when NFBR was recognized and admitted to IBF, they ought to reward players for their support, and players needed ranking points badly... In these circumstances US Open was just a right place to send them all to.:D Now the situation is different and the reasons "why not to go" prevail.
OK, what can we (or you:confused:) do to change this? Yes, move up to GP Gold is a good idea. I think the ranking points are even more important than the prize money. But did you mention that most of tournaments in Europe and Asia are bundled by 2 or 3 in a row? If you go so far, it worth to take part in two or three tournaments, not only one. I mean, if there is another GP tourney (e.g. Canadian Open) one week before or after... preferably not too far, in the same time zone (Vancouver?)... it would be much more attractive to go there. What do you think?:)

..Dmitry, your points of "why to attend/not to attend the U.S. Open" are somewhat valid. However, in addition to that, and yes, as you (and others) have also inferred to is the fact that it only offers smaller prize money. I'm pretty optimistic that if it was upgraded to a GP Gold status, it could attract more players (in respect to the above 4 reasons).
Btw, that's an interesting background story about the Russian's team attendance in the U.S. Open, 2 yrs. ago. Yes, i do remember them (wish if they all could come back, again:p)..Thanks for sharing a bit of infos.

aZn_Popcorn 07-08-2008, 10:59 AM no idea, it just says 0-0 Disqualified on tourneysoftware

It should be, that's why we're wondering. Actually, I'll call over there and confirm...right now...
...nobody picked-up, left a message to call back. Hopefully we'll now shortly.
Cheng is BC's very own, "Lefty", why did he get DQed?
Lefty is another "Cheng", but not Cheng Che Chang.
Cheng Che Chang (aka. "OA") is a ex-national player from Taiwan who coaches in SmashCity. i actually saw him in SmashCity last night coaching. maybe he just decided not to show up in the US Open.
DinkAlot 07-08-2008, 11:25 AM Wow, thanks for the clarification. Small world, having such similar names (at least English spelling-wise). :p

ctjcad 07-08-2008, 02:54 PM - WS matches are still on going now...Spotted our smashie54 sporting a nice blue/white sleeveless outfit...Still looking a bit jet-lagged, perhaps..
- Yes, quite a few W/Os/no shows/DQ. Even Holvy De Pauw is not here (perhaps still jet-lagged/tired after a long honeymoon??)..And i was hoping to see him play..:p
- The entire Nepalese squad is absent.
- Lots of young faces on court.
Chinese Taipei's Hung just won in straight sets over USA's Thum. Scoreboard is still stuck..

I saw LHL play twice at SGVBC and was trying to get in a game with him this past Friday but didn't get the chance.
I saw LHL play mixed style (with Priscilla) against two experienced players. One of them was one of SGVBC's fastest players and LHL made him look slow. :p
LHL reminds me of smaller version of Lee Chong Wei. I hope LHL wins it. :)

I didn't get to see LHL play singles but from the doubles and mixed play, he's extremely fast, has a very tight drop and is quick to the net. Of course, not to mention he has all the standard shots a professional has and a respectable smash.
It's not easy to play him mixed as his partner Priscilla understands to stay at the net and just let him run in the backcourt. Essentially, when LHL plays mixed, he's playing singles without having to worry about getting the drops. Makes it easy for a guy with that much speed to do a lot of damage.

KlasseE 07-09-2008, 01:29 AM please read this posted by weeyet in 2005:
Rashid Sidek: Lee Hock Lai, Chong Wei Feng, Tan Chun Siang, our future
National team back up squad chief coach Rashid Sidek named this three young players as our future MS pillar: Lee Hock Lai , Chong Wei Feng, Tan Chun Siang (direct translation name from pinyin Li Fulai, Zhang Weifeng, Chen Junxiang)
Rashid believes that these 3 players will be a thread to Yogendran, Lee Tsuen Seng, Yeoh Kay Bin, Kuan Beng Hong very soon in the future.
Lee Hock Lai was former national youth MD champion.
The coach is satisfied with his players' performance in the recent Kedah Open, Pahang Open and Vietnam Satellite. The 18-year-old Lee Hock Lai wins the Pahang Open division 2. While Chung Wei Feng and Tan Chun Siang compete in Division 1. Chung WF defeated Pei Wei Chung in the first round, while Tan CS brought his 2nd round match with Yeok Kay Bin into rubber games.
Rashid had already reccomend Lee HOck Lai from Penang to go down to KL to undergo more systematic training, 6 days one week.

elderplayer 07-09-2008, 10:34 AM Hello all.
Is the Rudi Gunawan who is playing in the Men's Doubles with Philip Chew of OCBC the 1993 men's doubles world champion (with Ricky Subagja)?
I wonder how his game is now.
Daylightkiller 07-09-2008, 10:47 AM u should come down dinkalot! it's filled with ppl from rosemead hahhhahha
ctjcad 07-09-2008, 01:15 PM :)..Quick recap:
what a night, i meant day, it was..
To sum it up, there were many2 withdrawals esp. to a "star-powerless" tourney and making it more like a depleted tourney.:p
There weren't any major upsets. But there were quite a few interesting matches that went down to the wire.
Anyway...
well actually there is 1 Nepalese player here, Balram Thapa who advanced to the 2nd rd.
..yep, correct, he's the only representative from Nepal~thanks for the re-correction. I saw his name but was distracted; i was totally busy with doing other tasks. And didn't have time to correct my post.:p
...
LHL reminds me of smaller version of Lee Chong Wei. I hope LHL wins it. :)
..yep, quite true indeed...Lee "Don't call me Lee Chong Wei" Hock Lai sure does play and reminds of me LCW..
Sounds quite impressive. He did beat up and coming Danish youngster Thomsen in straight games.
..yeah...you guys wouldn't believe what happened during LHL vs. Thomsen's match...I have pics to show you guys...:p
Hello all.
Is the Rudi Gunawan who is playing in the Men's Doubles with Philip Chew of OCBC the 1993 men's doubles world champion (with Ricky Subagja)?
I wonder how his game is now.
..yep, that's him (i have pics also). Fortunately, last night, his opponents withdrew. Thus he and Phillip didn't have to play.... ;)
On that note....
ctjcad 07-09-2008, 01:24 PM ...for those of you who've waited patiently (and didn't fall to my trick of "pulling out a fast one on you guys")...here are some pics from y'day's Day 1...Yes, i was able to tighten up some screws in my digicam which was starting to shimmy...

aZn_Popcorn 07-09-2008, 01:32 PM actually there was 1 major upset. Charmein Reid(2nd seed) lost to Lili Zhou which I am assuming is a coach of one of the Cali Clubs?
ctjcad 07-09-2008, 01:36 PM ...as there were also quite a bit of last minute withdrawals. Plus the Singles players were doing double duty playing both Singles and Doubles events...
Here are some pics...(i'm mixing all the Doubles actions)..
Doubles
Btw, nothing is worst than a feeling for being in the spotlight, in these 2 photos, directly below....to feel embarrassed and being "warned" by the Tournament Referee, to say the least...for not having tournament ready shirts...(their match was delayed a few minutes, actually, but they finally finished it)

ctjcad 07-09-2008, 02:03 PM actually there was 1 major upset. Charmein Reid(2nd seed) lost to Lili Zhou which I am assuming is a coach of one of the Cali Clubs?
..well, both are top class players and if either should lose, i wouldn't call that an upset. Being seeded doesn't really qualify one to be considered better than a non-seeded/lower seeded player..
thanks for your pics, but could you be so kind and explain who is who (for those living outside california)? :)

excellent, PaparaChris! keep them coming. what monster camera/lens are you using this time?
madbad 07-09-2008, 02:42 PM Hey, good job Chris. From your observations, who do you consider the fave for the MS? So difficult with so many unknown names.
madbad 07-09-2008, 02:44 PM :)..Quick recap:
what a night, i meant day, it was..
To sum it up, there were many2 withdrawals esp. to a "star-powerless" tourney and making it more like a depleted tourney.:p
There weren't any major upsets. But there were quite a few interesting matches that went down to the wire.
..yep, quite true indeed...Lee "Don't call me Lee Chong Wei" Hock Lai sure does play and reminds of me LCW..
..yeah...you guys wouldn't believe what happened during LHL vs. Thomsen's match...I have pics to show you guys...:p
Yeah, do tell. We're very curious indeed

WOW  this is embarrassing! Especially from US of A???:eek:
At least get some matching shirt or lettering from a local 99cents store of something.
Thanks for the pics!

Nice photos... but it would be good if take the faces of the players instead of their names on the shirts.
madbad 07-09-2008, 04:18 PM Nice photos... but it would be good if take the faces of the players instead of their names on the shirts.
Yes, there were a few of those but the variety is in general was good... better to have some pictures than none, right? ;)
madbad 07-09-2008, 04:19 PM Noticed a few players wearing prescription glasses too. Also saw a couple of pics of an older gentleman wearing an eyepatch!

Of course its better to have pics than none.
demolidor 07-09-2008, 06:21 PM ...as there were also quite a bit of last minute withdrawals.

:D So is this the before or after?? I was going to ask about that as I remember once at the nationals someone quickly printed out his name on paper and stuck it to the back with tape or safety pins. Surely this wasn't allowed or was it? Well I guess maybe this would be but that's the last we'll see of these shirts :p ...

..give it up and thank the camera & lenses. Afterall, they did 90% of the work plus they're the ones saving the pics/files. The other 9 percent can be given to luck. The other 1 person, may be given as personal credit ( i only did the shutter pressing).
to madbad: as to what happened in the LHL's & Thomsen's match, you can see the racket pic in the Misc. Pictures thread. Try to guess what happened.;)
As for the fave in MS, i'll share with is in the next/upcoming post.
to ants: yes, you're correct. I should've taken their faces as well. But, i assume you're referring to the 2 players with no names of their shirts, already took a picture of them (haven't been able to upload them)..
to birdie68: yep, it's quite embarrassing. Unless someone had stolen their shirts, there's no excuse for them not to know this type of tourneys regulations. But, it was a different story today, though.
to papa-kwun-razzi: yes, i used all fast prime lenses (ranging from 15mm to 200mm). Plus an 1.4x extender lens. No zoom lenses this time.
But my right hand is a bit sore from holding those equipments for nearly 12 hrs.:p
But of course, i have to give a big THANKS to all the photo-gurus for their unending guidance.

..yep, they were wearing that shirt the entire match. And guess what, i didn't even notice it at all (even while i was taking their pics the entire time)!..OMG!*gasp*:p:(...Only after the match had ended & the tournament Referee came to talk to them did i realize what had happened. I then captured the scene to share them with y'all...Embarrassing, yes; but they sure looked different tonight...;)
ctjcad 07-10-2008, 12:46 AM ...so, was Day 2 any more exciting than Day 1??..I'd say, yes, a bit, because the type of competition is starting to tighten up...
Here are my quick hits from today's event:
- Boy, after watching Lee Hock Lai play (both MS and XD), i must say i have to give him another nickname. Besides the Lee "Don't call me Lee Chong Wei" Hok Lai, i should give a new nickname. And that is, Lee "A One Man Show Stopper" Hock Lai.... :p
He simply was like a scooter out there. Esp. in his XD match. In the entire match, he was simply a 1 man show, chasing and controlling all the shuttles sent on his side of the court. And i'm quite sure all the people watching him were simply in awe. From drops, to cross-court shots, to smashes and clears, he was on them like he had to save a grenade from falling on the floor. Quick and always aware are words that, IMO, can best describe his play. He was out there covering Priscilla basically 90% of the time (okay, okay, let's give Priscilla 25% credit;)). Anyway, they've got their work cut out for them, as they have a tough date tomorrow when they'll face Howard & Eva in their QF round.
- A couple of head-turner tonight. First, the pairing of Mona and Johanna losing to the Chinese TPE's WD pair, in straight sets. Simply, M & J's game was out of sorts. Many errors and right from the get-go they were on the defense. They even lured Candra into the coaching box to help them figure out what's wrong (along with Grace Peng), after the 1st set, but to no avail. They ended up losing in 2 straight sets and to end it, Johanna made an unforced net shot which went out.
But that's not the only loss for Mona. Earlier, she and partner Chandra lost to CAN's Beres & Loker in a thrilling rubber set (yeah, i can hear cooler, madbad and all the Canadian based BCers wooting it up..;)). Again, same type of situation. 1st set, very defensive and made errors. M & C were able to correct their strategy and it worked as they forced Ms. Loker to make plays. It went to rubber set, where the CAN pair just out-slugged the ex-INA national players.
- Kevin Cordon is a hammer-thrower, at least that's what i saw and what the people were whispering while watching him play. He was simply smashing the shuttlecock like it was a plastic shuttle. I think tomorrow's match fitting him vs. Lee Hock Lai could be a good one.
- The tall and lanky Bille Larsen might not be a basketball player, but he was lengthy enough to subdue the much shorter Casey in straight sets. It seemed like Casey was trying to get to the basket or around Bille Larsen for an easy slam dunk, but Bille Larsen was there to greet him with his size. Bille' Larsen's footwork might make "Dancing with the Stars" producer cringe, but he has enough touch, length and good strokes.
- A few more withdrawals which forced a few more.....relieved players..
- And the last match of the day featuring, i would call it, 1 uncle and 3 nephews; I would call it the "An Uncle and 3 nephews" duel. To see Rudy Gunawan play and give it his all out there, in his current age, would definitely inspire a lot of older people. He was basically running out there with 3 much younger players, the same age probably as his nephews. But skill-wise, he was simply dominating. He might've even called some shots and plays for the other pair, as well.;) It was a close shave, but definitely Rudy benefited from his opponents' W/O y'day.
Anyway, that's all for now...be back later for some more pics from Day 2 (got to get them ready, right??)...;)
* I saw the Canadian squad took pictures at the conclusion of the day. All guys and 1 gal, Joycelyn Ko, crunched alone in the middle.;)
ctjcad 07-10-2008, 12:59 AM Noticed a few players wearing prescription glasses too. Also saw a couple of pics of an older gentleman wearing an eyepatch!
..(almost forgot to reply to this)..yep, those young men are representing Canada (McKee and Li). Older gentleman wearing someking of an eyepatch is Dean Schoppe.

Again, same type of situation. 1st set, very defensive and made errors. M & C were able to correct their strategy and it worked as they forced Ms. Loker to make plays. It went to rubber set, where the CAN pair just out-slugged the ex-INA national players.
* I saw the Canadian squad took pictures at the conclusion of the day. All guys and 1 gal, Joyceling Ko, crunched alone in the middle.;)
mike beres is amazing for his age. He can backfill any position where canadian is lacking in participated tournaments, MS, MD and/or XD (but not all 3 events tho:p).
Too bad our #1 WS anna rice drop out to play XD with wil milroy. She can reach the WS final no problem. Look like joycelyn ko filled her shoes but Joycelyn is only #29 in canada, so going out in first round is expected.
Wil milroy regular XD partner, tammy sun, is not playing likely because of school and studying. (ie. she's done with competitive badminton).
madbad 07-10-2008, 01:05 AM ..(almost forgot to reply to this)..yep, those young men are representing Canada (McKee and Li). Older gentleman wearing someking of an eyepatch is Dean Schoppe.

madbad 07-10-2008, 01:13 AM Tomorrow's match between David SNIDER and Stefan WOJCIKIEWICZ (quick copy and paste) will be an interesting encounter. In this year's Canadian Open, Stefan was seeded #2 but the unseeded David upset him 21-12 15-21 21-13 to take the title. I'm sure Stefan, seeded #6 in the US Open, will have learned from this setback. Expect fireworks.

..and reasons with a few notable missing young U.S. players from this tourney(e.g. missing Arnold Setiadi (kwun probably knows the reason why; i talked with someone @ OCBC and he said he has school to take care of first. Next week/month, he has to travel to play for the Junior Championship).
Also, Jamie Subandhi (school also). Also, Lauren's brother.

Speaking of Lauren, did you get to speak to her after she was shown the door rather unceremoniously in Round 1? Was kinda shocked to see her beaten so tamely.

..that one...Well, actually i was pointing my camera and lens at her the whole time while she was warming up and playing but dare not distract her. Nope, haven't spoken to her, yet (maybe she'll be reading this thread right now).:p
Perhaps the next time i see her, i'll just point my lens and say "Say Cheese to Badminton Central!"...
Yeah, she still looked a bit jet-lagged and not in sync. Was slow in her game and never really was in her game vs. Johanna. Perhaps still tired also from all those training. Caught her yawning a couple of times during the U.S. Open, too (oops, hope she's really not reading this thread)..:p:eek: :);)

jody patrick, age 30. i hardly see her play much. I think she just show up to play certain tournament to maintain ranking.
charmaine is 34.75 years old now, and our #3 WS
aZn_Popcorn 07-10-2008, 01:28 AM Well, I believe that Michelle Li, Joyce, and Jennifer Lam should be higher ranked then what they are, but they will move up in about a year or so. Charmein and Anna are getting old. Charmein already has like 2 or 3 kids.
Interesting to see Mike Beres is actually #1 in canada over Dabeka who seems to play alot more international tourneys

That pretty much sums up the WS situation in Canada [SIGH]. Watch out for a couple of BC girls with spunk and guts: Sarah Kong and Phyllis Chan. They're still young but have great potential

..i believe she did qualify for both. She'll be playing WS and in WD with May M.
ctjcad 07-11-2008, 12:13 AM ...well, the excitement keeps on building up (whatever much is left of it)...
Yep, as you all could see from the livescore/scoreboard, there were quite a few very exciting and very entertaining matches as well as finishes. I can count, from the top of my head, about 2-4 of them.
- Surprise of the day was Lee "Don't call me LCW" Hock Lai losing both of his matches. In his first match, which was the XD, Howard and Eva were all business as they took care of the match with much ease. With LHL trying to cover Priscilla, his XD partner, and the entire court, it was essentially easy pickings for the U.S.' #1 XD pair. They took it home, leaving LHL wondering if he could redeem himself in his upcoming MS match.
- Now, the first exciting match of the day was none bigger than the WS match pitting Eva Lee and Johanna Lee. And, yep, as reflected by the score's final tally, it did live up to its thrilling ending, as both sides never let up in their effort (despite the many arms at the hips and body bending breaks). It was wall to wall, sheer performance by both players. Suffice to say, despite the raucous support and cheer from the crowd, with one side screaming "Let's go Eva!" whilst the other yelling "Let's go Johanna!", at the end of the match, both players were pretty much gassed. In the end, Johanna's dream of seeking another chance of a U.S. Open WS Final appearance fell short. Still, a thumbs up for Johanna for giving it all, despite her age being much more senior than Eva.
- The second thrilling match of the day featured, yes, you all guessed it, another Lee. But this time, it was Lee Hock Lai, who was out to prove that he was ready to let go of his earlier XD match's loss. But who would've imagined that his opponent, Kevin Cordon, would pull one of the tourney's big surprises. When Cordon won the 1st game, everyone knew that LHL was in for a game. In the 2nd set, both players kept it tight until the end. And that's where all the jitters (by both the players as well as the fans who were supporting both players) came to play. With the score all knotted up at 20 a piece and LHL inches up to force a rubber set, Cordon pulled the night's big surprise by rallying (whilst holding 2 match points) to beat LHL. Cordon had a chance to close shop with his thundering smash, but the shot went into the net. Most of Cordon's pts, late in the 2nd set, came from LHL' unforced errors/lobs/lifts which sailed past the back line...
*The surprising thing was, when i passed the player's area, all i could see was him having a jolly good time (all laughing and taking it easy) with his coaches and a few other people, as if he didn't really care much about the losses.....;)
**For those PAWing for tomorrow's Semis, i would consider Cordon, as he has shown the most consistency and power in his game, amongst the others. His net and soft touch game has been consistent as well. At the moment, i wouldn't be surprised to see him reach the MS' Final.
- The last entertaining match of the day, arguably the most entertaining one of the night, involved the "An Uncle and his nephew" pairing. And boy, was it fun and entertainment.:)
Yep, it was none other than the match pitting 2 of INA's great baddy heroes, Rudy Gunawan and Halim Haryanto. But this time, i think the fun belonged to the former, as their match simply drew the biggest cheer, laughter, applause and support of the night. Everyone definitely had a good time watching this match, including the players who simply had fun playing and 1 goal in mind and that was to entertain the crowd. What with Rudy (nope, not our friendly huangkwokhau) still displaying, often times absorbing all of Halim's as well as Raju's powerful smashes, and giving it his all despite his much older physique (than the other 3 players). He even played to the crowd, as he waved to a section in the crowd during the match. At the end of the match, everyone knew who the winner was, and it was definitely the fans who watched the match. I sure enjoyed it and had a good laugh watching (and i'm sure our huangkwokhau (Rudy) would also enjoy it, if he was here)..;)
- I didn't see our smashie54 tonight, but saw a bunch of young folks from NorCal (Smash City??). Also saw BBC's owner, Ben Lee and his lovely wife and super adorable daughter.
- Better crowd tonight, although some people still feel the competition is lacking "top level competition".
- Oh, forgot to mention this, but the other night, i met with Bob and mentioned to him about his website. He's well aware of it and he said his upcoming appearance in the David Letterman's Show is, apparently, a taped show.
- Y'day saw some kind of reporter who interviewed both Raju Rai and Howard. I guess it's in preparation for the upcoming Olympics, in which those 2 players will represent the U.S.?!
Alrighty, i think that's the short recap for the time being....pics will be crawling out in a short while..:p

Seasider 07-11-2008, 01:09 AM I'm sorry, I'm too lazy to write my analysis, it's past midnite here. However, based on what I have seen for the last 3 days, the players in red (in my opinion) will be the winners.

ctjcad 07-11-2008, 09:19 AM :eek:....'What camera equipments???'.....:eek: :confused::p
oh, btw, kwun, the 200mm lens that i was using was the reg. f/2.8. Not the uber fast f/1.8...;)
However, this gentleman (nope, it wasn't me, in the pics below) showed up last night & was carrying a bigger lens (a 300mm)...
I must say, he must be pretty tired lugging that canon around (actually he didn't take much pics, mostly just for the OCBC players). Probably the lens gave him much more than what he needed. He also carried a smaller lens, most likely a zoom lens (one of those white lenses); sorry, didn't take a pic of his other lens.

malayali 07-11-2008, 09:29 AM The guys who played Howard last night (& lost, of course) are from the Texas area.
Imam plays here in Dallas & Ravi hails from Houston.
They did good to get to the quarter finals.
:eek:....'What camera equipments???'.....:eek: :confused::p
oh, btw, kwun, the 200mm lens that i was using was the reg. f/2.8. Not the uber fast f/1.8...;)
However, this gentleman (nope, it wasn't me, in the pics below) showed up last night & was carrying a bigger lens (a 300mm)...

if that's a 1Dmk3 and not a 1DSmk3, then all he would get at that position with that 300/2.8 would be the player's head and shoulder.
200/2 and 200/1.8 would be the perfect lens for badminton. i need a sponsor to get a $6000 lens... ;)

ctjcad 07-11-2008, 06:29 PM ..Singles actions pics to share before i leave...
Notice the middle pics showing Johanna and Eva. That scene was towards the end of their match, and the fans erupted in applause.. Johanna threw her racket first on the floor and Eva followed suit by collapsing, belly first...

robin7 07-12-2008, 12:22 AM Poor Eva lost all her 3 matches today...
robin7 07-12-2008, 01:59 AM Did anyone say she is?
Daylightkiller 07-12-2008, 05:14 AM heres a few pics taken with my trusty old film camera using ridiculously grainy 1600 iso film. it makes it look ancient. like a tournament back in the '90's hahhaha. couldn't get much good action shots with their faces cuz i only had a 50mm that would work for this hahha. :crying:

ctjcad 07-12-2008, 08:06 AM ..yeah, they do look "classical" but quite pleasant. It's rare nowadays for one to take pics, esp. badminton pics, with a film camera....You should post them here and have all the BCers see them..:)
Oh, one more thing, once i'm able to upload the video highlights (which i don't know how long it'll take me to post-process and upload:p:p), you guys can thank Daylightkiller, also, for helping out with the video recording/capture. He's been awesome!!
ctjcad 07-12-2008, 08:59 AM ..of the Semifinals round..
- XD: It was a battle of the U.S. pairs. Halim & Grace played a consistent game while Howard & Eva kept it close, in both sets, til the end. But in the end, the more seasoned pair (with Grace seemingly back to her dominating self at the net) clinched it & secured a place in the Finals.
On the other match, USA's surprise pairing of Dinh & Wang gave it their all, but Beres & Loker made quick work in both sets, without really having much trouble, to advance to the Finals.
XD Final outlook: I'm looking at the U.S. pair to win it, possibly in 3 sets. Look for the U.S.' pair to attack, attack and attack Ms. Loker in their XD Final matchup. And if Mr. Beres can't cover her or Ms. Loker can't contain the attacks, it'll be a victory for the U.S.' pair. On the other hand, the game will be decided around the net and if Ms. Loker can at least hold her ground at the net area, then the CAN pair should have a good chance to claim victory.
- MS: It was a battle of the 2 lefties. But this time Mr. Dabeka was in control for most of the match, even if at times, in the 2nd set, Mr. Cordon tried to make a game of it, even with his thundering smashes. But it was just too many unforced errors by Mr. Cordon and a simply more consistent game from his opponent which finally placed Mr. Dabeka in the Finals.
On the other match, it was a good affair as CAN's Snider gave DEN's Bille Larsen a very stiff challenge, esp. in the first 2 sets. But in the end, Bille Martin tightened up his game and closed the deal to set up a very intriguing MS Final.
MS Final outlook: 50-50 game. It will be the veteran & savvy Dabeka vs. the sprightly & towering Bille Martin. And it could go the full 3 sets.
- WS: The young Chloe Magee has been a surprise. With her light footwork and soft touches, sprinkled with some clever plays, she passed by Chinese TPE's Hung Shih Chieh in 3 sets. After giving up the 2nd set, in the end, the seemingly more full of energy Magee cruised by Hung with ease.
On the other match, it was a match pitting arguably 2 of the best WS players in the U.S. But it was Ms. Zhou who, despite losing the 2nd set, dominated the entire match with her always clever placement of the shuttles. In the end, with a scoreline resembling that of the 2nd set, and Eva battling to conserve whatever energy she had left (esp. after playing in 3 events), it would be Ms. Zhou who'll represent the U.S. and advance to the WS Final.
Yes, as 2 of the BCers have inferred to, it was definitely a monumental challenge for Eva, last night. Playing 3 events all week long finally took a toll on her.
WS Final outlook: It's 50-50 game as both players haven't seen each other's game. And it should be a pretty good affair & it'll probably be the toughest test for Ms. Magee in this tourney. We'll see how she deals with the much more seasoned game of Ms. Zhou
- WD: The combination pairing of Reid and Grether gave it their all, but the young and more skilled TPE's pair never were in trouble as they made a sound work vs. the 2 combo pairing.
On the other match, the U.S.' pairing of Lee and Mangkalakiri gave their opponents a run in the 1st set. But they just couldn't get over the hump in the 2nd as TPE's other WD pairing made sure it would be an all Chinese TPE's WD Final. Esp. with Lee having to gather all the energy she had left after playing in 3 events.
*2 cents comment: In the future, perhaps Ms. Lee should concentrate on just 1 or 2 events, just for the sake of keeping her stamina in check. Perhaps her long and arduous WS match, y'day took its toll on her in all of her Semifinals' matches.
Final outlook: This one could be one of those "doozer" game. We'll see if both pair will play it all out & hope there wouldn't be a W/O.
- MD: Last matches of the night involved 2 pairs, all representing both CAN and the U.S. First match, it was the defending U.S. Open runners-up from last yr facing CAN's scratch pairing of Beres and Rogers. But it was just too much power from Bach and Malaythong as they clamped down their game and made a quick work vs. their CAN's scratch pairing.
On the other match, CAN's Milroy and Ng made a stiff challenge in the 1st set against U.S.' scratch pairing of Haryanto and Rai. But it was the veteran Haryanto who held the nerves and clinched it for an all U.S. MD Final.
Final outlook: I'm looking for Bach and Malaythong to finally win their 1st ever U.S. Open title. Look for possibly, Bach & Malaythong to take their opportunity to attack Rai, but won't be surprised if Haryanto becomes a bigger target.:p
Now, on to the Finals...................and pics of Day 4 actions will come in a short while...
ctjcad 07-12-2008, 09:23 AM is that Andy Tran coaching Lili?
the Taiwanese girl has even larger quads than Lili!
..that's Mr. Andy Tran...
..As for the Chinese TPE's gal, not only her quads are the same if not larger, but her calves as well....but i think Lili's lower body is much more defined...;)
robin7 07-12-2008, 10:40 AM Any ideas of what time the finals scheduled to start?

ctjcad 07-12-2008, 03:29 PM what is the order of play, please
oops, sorry didn't realize they didn't put it up there. but from the past few days the order has been XD, WS, MS, WD, MS if i remember correctly
...they could swap the MS & WS order of play...but the ending is always with the MD match...Hopefully, the WD & MD matches will turn out to be exciting, as both events feature pairs from the same countries (Chinese TPE & US, respectively)..

david snider must had softened martin up for andrew.:)
Snider is not Canadian champion for nothing. Saw him training at RichmondPro just before the TC/UC and observed he wasn't a flashy player, just a consistent, sound one who gets everything back. He must take the next step up as Bobby Milroy pretty much part time these days anyway. Congrats to David for getting to the SF and pushing Martin "Billie Jean King" Larsen hard
ctjcad 07-13-2008, 01:22 AM Phew, finally, it's all over....Both relieved but at the same time, will miss it (i'll tell you guys why at the end of this post)...;)
It was a special night for the U.S., as they not only won 3 out of the 4 titles, but also made a special send-off for the current U.S. Olympic bound squad.
XD - It started slow but ended almost like it started, with a bit of excitement in the middle. No doubt, the U.S. pair came out aggressive & dominated the net area and made less errors than the CAN pair, who simply couldn't cope with the consistent play from Halim & Grace. Congrats to Grace & Halim for winning their first U.S. Open XD title!

WS - This was a close and pretty good encounter, esp. in the 1st set, as both players kept it basically neck & neck all the way through. Chloe was on the verge of closing out the 1st set, but a bit of concentration lapse caused Lili to rally & tie the score. And the indomitable Lili came through and secured the 1st set. Chloe tried to keep it close in the 2nd, but to no avail, as Lili pulled away and won her 2nd U.S. Open WS title in as many years. Congrats to Lili for winning the U.S. Open WS title!

MS - What a performance by Mr. Dabeka this week. In this match, the tall & lanky Martin "Don't call me Billie Jean King" Larsen tried to unsettle Dabeka's game, but it wasn't meant to be. Every drop or placement or clear shots which Bille Larsen attempted was chased down. Only on a few occasions which Bille Larsen was able to unleash his smashes. In the end, with some unforced errors, Bille Jean had to bow down to the more consistent game of Mr. Dabeka. Congrats to Andyyyyyy for winning his first U.S. Open MS title!

WD - Well, it turned out to be somewhat of a fun affair, with many smashes, drops and exquisite placements, left and right. But Hung & Chang finally closed shop after a really entertaining 1st set. On the other hand, their opponents didn't look very energetic...
Congrats to Hung SC & CHang LY for winning their first U.S. Open WD title!

MD - Last match of the night went pretty much as expected. With Howard putting on a serious face before the game started, the no.1 U.S. MD pair took it to Halim & Raju and never looked back. They secured their first ever U.S. Open MD title (as a pair) with a convincing straight sets victory. Congrats to Howard & Bob for winning their first U.S. Open MD title (as a pair)! Howard and Raju then made a very brief speech thanking the Chew family for all their support in their badminton careers (it sounded like it was a final farewell speech from both of them).

..okay, rest of the pics will be shown in a bit while...
* News: Okay, here's the news. Not sure if others (kwun) have heard about this or not, maybe it's an old news and it's not confirmed or anything, but heard from a couple of reliable resources, that this yr COULD POSSIBLY be the last time the U.S. Open will be held @ OCBC. Yep, the talk is, next yr, the event could be held somewhere else, pending bidding by other U.S. cities.............kwun?? will it finally be held, up in the NorCal area???...;):);)
ctjcad 07-13-2008, 01:38 AM And in between the WD and MD match (if i recall), the organizer held a small send off ceremony for the U.S. Olympic bound badminton squad; with Ben Lee doing the "official" intro. and invited all 5 U.S. badminton players who'll go and represent the U.S......They all thanked the crowd and all their support...."4 yrs ago, the U.S. only had the MD representing in the Olympics; but this yr, we have all 5 events covered. With a hope that they will at least get on the podium", as i try to quote Howard's speech...;)
(Hope to see you guys in Beijing!;))

ctjcad 07-13-2008, 07:33 PM ...so, before all the pomp & circumstances begun, they passed out the always popular balloon-clappers, courtesy of Yonex...And boy, did they pass them out in droves or what, as almost everyone got one.....
Also they held a Jr. Tournament pitting the SoCal All-Stars vs. NorCal All-Stars. Now i know why Ben and his young players were here (kwun might know??). They then held a brief award presentation to the All-Stars (as they'll be, hopefully, the future of U.S. badminton).
And Bob being attended to, by a trainer, prior to his MD Final match (last 2 pics).

ctjcad 07-13-2008, 07:43 PM ..here are the Jr. All-Stars award ceremony pics....The Red team represents Northern California and the Blue team represents Southern California...and i don't know which squad won/lost (i assume the SoCal team won, looking at the trophy bowl)??..
Daylightkiller 07-13-2008, 07:44 PM i think southern california won, because they got the bowl :p
ctjcad 07-13-2008, 07:50 PM ...they had candy bars in that bowl... :p ;)
Oh, Fred, how did the pics, from last night, turn out??..
*Btw, for those of you guys who are interested to watch/download the videos, we're still working on the next process which is the videos uploading and hopefully they'll be up before end of next week...:p:o:p
Daylightkiller 07-13-2008, 07:53 PM hahah i haven't had time today to go develop the photos from yesterday. i'm scanning the ones from the day before right now. woke up too late today hahhah. ended up playing at rosemead pretty late with mr.dan :D

It was a special night for the U.S., as they not only won 3 out of the 4 titles, but also made a special send-off for the current U.S. Olympic bound squad.

:p...i knew my mind was toast when i made this typo...Supposed to be "as they not only won 3 out of the 5 titles..."...:o:p
ctjcad 07-13-2008, 08:51 PM - For those wondering why in the sunny & hot Southern California weather is Lee Hock Lai doing playing in this U.S. Open??..Well, i found y'day that he's definitely not studying or playing in a club here but simply..............................vacationing..: cool:
- Saw our smashie54's bro in attendance. And boy, is it me or does it seem like he's grown taller from the last time i saw him??...
Daylightkiller 07-13-2008, 09:05 PM heres some pics from day 4. i'm gonna rescan all of them and upload them again when my brother brings over my old film scanner. hoefully the quality will be better than scanning prints with a cheap printer.

cooler 07-13-2008, 11:21 PM thanks for the podium wrap up and photos.
Rarely do i see our canadian nationals in action much since they no longer train in calgary (ex-national training center). Considering badmintonn canada no longer fund badminoton(well, close to nothing), i'm happy we still got some decent new bloods (andrew, david snider, anna) to carry on the torch. The long time MD pair beres and milory was split up this year to try out with new partners.
CLELY 07-14-2008, 12:25 AM Phew, finally, it's all over....Both relieved but at the same time, will miss it (i'll tell you guys why at the end of this post)...;)
It was a special night for the U.S., as they not only won 3 out of the 4 titles, but also made a special send-off for the current U.S. Olympic bound squad.
Second US Open title for Lili Zhou? When the first time, Chris? I thought she's young player but has found her DOB that she was born in 1980. The winner's trophy is so stunning, thx for sharing pix and info here...
ctjcad 07-14-2008, 08:31 AM (i did a bit of research)..
..it was actually called the Yonex/OCBC International and if i recall, they did offer prize money..And it was held in the first week of November. Yes, i do recall attending that tourney and asked why it wasn't called the U.S. Open??..(which i forgot the reason(s))..:p
Perhaps because the World Championships was held in the same yr and the organizer couldn't organize the U.S. Open in and around the WC. Or maybe they had no plan to hold one and decided to just call it the OCBC/Yonex International??..(perhaps someone or 2, close to the organizer, might know the reason(s) why they used a different name in 2005??)..
So, yeah, if one wants to call this as Lili's 1st ever U.S. Open title, by name, one could do so (even in BWF's official website)..Although, others have categorized the 2005 OCBC/Yonex International as a "U.S. Open"..

awesome pics.
so Chris, after a week of shooting, what are your thoughts on taking badminton photos?
ctjcad 07-14-2008, 02:15 PM ...*okay, i'm starting to hear kwun giggle*....
I learned, the next time, i should just go out and find a very nice 200mm f/1.8 lens and let kwun take the pics....http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/63.gifhttp://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/77.gif
*okay, okay, i know you're still giggling, kwun*...
..............
...actually learned 3 things:
Rule 1. Need an acceptable camera (has high ISOs) & fast lens(es)
Rule 2. Need luck
Rule 3. If there is a chance to take a pic, up close and personal, don't waste the opportunity (yep, i should've taken some next-to-the-court shots on the Semifinals day as there were only 2 courts being used; i couldn't do so on previous days as we can't get next to the courts):p..
..and my right hand/wrist is still a bit sore...:p
...oh, did i mention, we need an acceptable camera & fast lens(es)..http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/3.gif

hahha same with me cannot emphasize that more than enough. i only had a 50mm f/1.4 lens with manual focus to work with. but on finals day i rented out a 104mm f/1.8. waiting to see how those turn out in a few days :p
ctjcad 07-14-2008, 03:54 PM ..couple more tidbits:
- Talk about surprise, i'm suprised to meet and greet our benny_hana (a BCer who has been inactive) on the Finals Day. And boy, did he still recognize me or what (even if my physique has turned even more...........round)..:o:p..He even asked if kwun was there..;)
- Heard Kevin Cordon stopped by SGVBC with his coach and was inquiring for some rackets. Heard he's quite a reserved fella. Hope we'll see more of Kevin Cordon in the future as he has a very good game...
to cooler: you got it! As always, we're always thinking about you and the rest of the Canadian BCers..(we'll have all the Canadian players' videos up, hopefully very soon, too!;))

lili zhou also went to sgvbc afterwards to play. it seemed like she was with her parents. hahha not sure.
Vtec101 07-14-2008, 05:44 PM Great coverage Chris. It was nice to see you again. Sorry we didn't get to talk much. Thanks for all the great photos and commentary. They should have made you the official reporter/photographer of the tournament. Something to think about for next year maybe? Oh, and the US Open will be held at OCBC again next year. Sorry for the bad info earlier. Hopefully I got it right this time. hehe.
As for 2005, there wasn't an "official" US Open as the WC was held during that time, so the tourney held later was just called Yonex/OCBC.
There was an All Star Game between the North and South California high school students held from 9am to 1pm during Friday and Saturday. This was the Inaugural event that is hopefully held again next year. The South team took the title this year. Thanks to Yonex for sponsoring this event.
Also, someone earlier in the thread mentioned we should have the US open and the Canadian Open held close to each other to attract more players. Well, that's usually that case except for this year. The US Open was moved up because of the Olympics but the Canadian Open did not.
Congratulations to all the winners!!!
Vtec101 07-14-2008, 05:46 PM lili zhou also went to sgvbc afterwards to play. it seemed like she was with her parents. hahha not sure.
Hey, I saw you at SG!!! lol. Lili went with some friends and ex students to play around after the finals.

But, i think we should share the wealth around, maybe have the U.S. Open be held in NorCal...
Btw, thanks for a background info about that 2005 Yonex/OCBC International. But was it really called U.S. Open or the organizer didn't plan for it??....Because i saw the link on Wikipedia and they categorized the event as a U.S. Open, yet other links don't recognize it as so??...
On helping out with the coverage, well, i was just helping out..:o...Daylightkiller was a big help and of course, the camera and lenses did all the work...
As for next yr, i'll provide coverage ONLY IF our kwun comes down here be the tournament's official photographer!...
On that note, i think i better start looking for the 200mm f/1.8 lens.....http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/45.gif (that way, if i find it, kwun will have no excuse not to come down here)...http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/1.gif

..it was actually called the Yonex/OCBC International and if i recall, they did offer prize money..And it was held in the first week of November.
Open"..

Oh, thanks for the explanation...yeah, the different tournament name is so confusing.
keebler_elf 07-15-2008, 01:40 AM I am having trouble placing a name/face with the members who were at the US open. I was there 4 days. I usually hang out at the YONEX booth the entire time until hiro or the high end yonex people come to the tournament. I am friends with the two stringers, ALAN Kakinami and Kevin Yamaguchi. I stay with them every year when I go to the Nationals or the US Open. Where could I find pictures of the Members who were there without searching through thousands of posts? My name is AJ Lawson so you could just look me up on facebook.com or something. And thanks for all the photos ctjcad, it is nice to have them for memories. Being there in person is unreal. I didnt know that Bennie Lee owned BBC either, thats pretty cool. He is an amazing person. Gotta love badminton, unlike other sports you can go up to any elite player and have a normal conversation with them. They treat everyone as equals especially Howard Bach and Tony Gunawan. Thanks again for all the pictures hope to see a lot of members at next years nationals and US Open!
Vtec101 07-15-2008, 01:58 AM :p..why you, trying to pull a fast one on me, eh??..ckckckck..http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/68.gif:o:p:mad::eek:...:(:):D..;)
It's was officially called the Yonex/OCBC International, so no, it wasn't the US Open. Don't remember the exact reasoning as to why it wasn't held as the US Open, but I think it had something to do with the USAB.
It would be nice to hold the US Open in NorCal, but where?
And don't be so modest about the photos Chris, the equipment is only as good as the user. And thanks Daylightkiller for helping Chris. :D
Hopefully next year will have some more international players so Mr. Kwun will be more inticed to come down to Orange County.
Did anyone noticed Ardy Wiranata? It was a nice surprise to see him and his family as they just happened to be in SoCal on vacation and decided to stop by.
ctjcad 07-15-2008, 07:59 AM ...

..hmm, Ardy Wiranata & his family were there?? When?? On what day?? I know there weren't thousands of people, but i surely didn't see him.:p
Thanks again for the re-confirmation on the name of that tourney, Paul.:)
Anyway, i think i'll just re-phrase my earlier comments about Lili "winning her 2nd U.S. Open title in as many years" to "winning her 1st U.S. Open title, this yr"...Hope that'll clear up all the.......confusion..:p:cool:

DinkAlot 07-15-2008, 11:17 AM Yup, that's me. The one that got worked over by the bad Panda and his sidekick Guava.
Dang Polar Bears try to hit nice, gentle Panda with the shuttle, so violent! :p
I'm very happy Halim (and Grace) did so well, congrats to Coach Halim! :D

Vtec101 07-15-2008, 02:01 PM well, come back down and play. it's only a plane ride away. :D

Panda is nice, gentle, cute, loveable, squeezable and don't pick on polar bears. How could he? Polar Bear will get revenge and bring one of his big guns code name "Howard", "Bob", or "Halim" and Panda will get oWNED!...:p
It's not that fun picking Pete because he chooses "Option 3", it's more fun picking on PB. ;)...:D:D:D
Back to the thread: Congrats to all the participants! :D
