Hi Guys, Have been in Jeddah for the past 8 years and gave up my hunt for a badminton clun in the early years. I was really surprised to see this post about jeddah. Please do let me know where is the club in Jeddah?
Cheers

Badminton courts in Jeddah are easy to find. Just ask the stringers of your local sports shop and they give you and outright answer.
Olympia Health Center has 8 badminton courts. It is situated at the back of Dr. Suleiman Fakeeh Hospital.
Jeddah Int'l. School (JIS) has 2 courts. It is at the back of Badriyah Building in Khalidiyah District. Just across Saudia City.
I hope this helps.

Where exactly is your location in Jeddah. Maybe I can point you or give directions to the nearest badminton court.
Just an update, a new court is now operating at Al Badr International School which off Palestine St, Al Mushrefa Dist. Haven't visited the court yet but I'm sure Olympia is far superior from the rest.

I'm located at Safa district,... and my office is at Amir Sultan street.. so if its close to any of them.. would be preferrable. I visited Olympia today, it seems very nice.. however the guy was telling me that you need to join groups... so need to go there again...
Any other suggestions?
Where do you play?

Sorry for the late reply.
Just got an info. that most badminton courts within international schools where I used to play is now exclusive to parents & teachers association and their students.
So far only Al Bader Int'l School, Olympia and (JIS) Jeddah Int'l. School (khalidiyah) is open for public.
In Olympia, membership fee will costs you SAR150 for 6 months. This is only for you to get in and out of the building and still have to struggle to get a reservation. It is recommended to join some clubs (another fee and club's monthly dues) that has regular 4 hrs slot (3x a week) so you can play till you drop.
Since the inauguration of Al Bader I haven't visited the courts yet.
JIS, I'm a regular here.

Thanks for your detailed reply!
Its highly apprecited...
I checked JIS and it seems pretty good and also easily available at night.
I'm going there with friends on Saturday and maybe Sunday also, 10pm-12am.
If you'd like to come see us or play too, most welcome :)
Btw, where is this Bader Int'l School??? :)))))
Take care,

No Problemos!
Thanks for the invitation.
Today is Saturday! I might passby JIS tonight. I haven't played badminton for quite some time. Maybe a doubles match won't hurt.
Bader Int'l School is in Mushrefah Dist. Off Palestine Rd. Its a bit tricky to find. I'll give you the directions when I see you.

Been yesterday at JIS court from 8pm till 12pm.
Saw a group of Indians or Pakistanis (sorry can't identify) arrived late in the evening.
If anyone noticed me, I'm the guy wearing black short and yellow sleeveless tops.

Situation is getting worse. Pepsi in can now costs SAR1.50. Hahahahaha!
You can always visit Olympia Health Club at the back of Dr. Suleiman Fakeeh Hospital in Palestine St., Al Hamra Dist. You can approach any regulars there for you to play.

Hi Hyper_Carbon (umm Im sure u hv a Name too!) lol.. :)
Yes, probably that was us (mostly Pakistani.. one Indian couple).. Next time you see us.. just ask for Kamal :) btw, we're trying to go there regularly from Sun-Tues 10pm-12am.
One more thing i'd like to ask you... (need expert opinion).. what speed is good for Feather shutlecocks? We got one box (tube) of Dunlop pretty cheap SR.50 and its speed was very slow.. which we're looking for. I noticed the boxes have some numbers (2,3,4..7 or 75,76,77..etc) indicating the shuttle's speed. However, is 2 faster or slower?
Thanks for your suggestions and comments :)
Take care..
We'll be going there tonight ...
Regards,
Kamal

Kamalistic,
If you're the only Kamal in your group then mostly probably we've met.
I'm not an expert. I'm still a newbie in this sport. I'm not familiar with 1,2,3, etc... ratings of shuttlecocks. What I usually see are 74, 76, 77, 78 ratings. IMHO, 77 or 78 is good enough for Jeddah's climate or if you're playing at JIS. But watch out if you use the same shuttlecocks at Olympia. It might go crazy because the courts are elevated and sometimes it freezing cold (6th & 7th Floor).
Dunlop @SAR50 per tube is quite expensive. I've heard that there is a sport shop in Baghdadiyah that sells Trump shuttlecocks @ SAR35 per tube. Try scout around some Indonesian stores that sells Samurai brand shuttlecocks @SAR40-45/tube. Or ask Mr. Edy of JIS, maybe he knows someone selling.
I hope it hleps.

Hmmm...
Sorry for a very, very late reply. I don't know any clubs in Makkah but for sure some Malaysians and Indonesian based in Makkah are going down to Jeddah to play. If by chance you're in Jeddah, look for Serafi Mall (infront of IKEA). There is a shop called Go Sports. Look for the store manager Bob Pillado and for sure he can help you.
Right now, I'm Canada based and trying to look for club as well.
Good Luck!

Hi! I've been living in Jeddah for almost a year already. I joined this group co'z I wanna start playing badminton since I had a hard time looking for water sport and/or volleyball clubs which is my main interest. Apparently, there are many badminton clubs here in Jeddah and I don't know how, where and when to start. I am located near Batarjee St. and I sometimes stay in Khalediya District as well. I'm a beginner with this sport but I do have an idea about the mechanics of the game. I read the whole thread but I just don't know how to start. I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me with this one.
