hehe nah everything is possible, also for WMC. But her playstyle doesnt kinda indicate that she will make it. Technical the chinese players are superior in the womens single. Tine can match these chinese players or foreign players because of her offensive powerplay, but as I see it WMC doenst have these offensive weapons. However WMC has a fighting spirit like the fewest and is very agile on court, so if the pressure gets to high on the chinese ladies WMC might have a chance of crushing them. However if the chinese ladies are calm I predict them to be too good, even for Tine.

Bad News! I read in Kompas.com that TH positive get Dengue fever. Usually if someone get dengue, they must bedrest around 2 weeks. Owww, SDK will be the one and only MS that Indonesia has. Eventough I don't predict TH will retain his title, but at least he will make other opponents bit afraid if meet him.

Nova/Butet quite stable, but I little bit worry of Flandy/Vita. In last 2 tournaments, they lost from unseeded pair... I hope they will show the best performance they have in Beijing...This is the last Olympic for Flandy, and I hope that he can get the medal, bronze at least... :)

Alrite, after looking at the drawings, where is INA's best bet in getting gold?
Still MD and XD?
Obviously, XD is still INA best hope to bag gold. MD is hard to say since Kido/Setiawan have crazy draw. MS draw isn't good prospect for INA representative. TH's opponent are Wong Choong Han, likely Nguyen Tien Minh, and CJ (quarterfinal). Meanwhile SDK will challenge Boonsak at second round and one of strong-fave LCW at quarter.
Forget it about WS and WD, Maria has an uphill task to defeat Tine. Also a big obstacle for Vita/Lilyana to face Olympic Champion Yang/Zhang despite INA pair lost to them in tight match at Uber Cup Final last May.

.
Greetings,
Well, I have just looked at the draw. :):):)
How come Tracey Hallam seeded 8??
For me it seems the mistake in the WS draw is Tracy Hallam receiving a seeded spot. I dont exactly recall the rankings at may but Tine won like 3 super series in 6 months so I guess she is the one to receive a 5/8 seeding and not tracy hallam who for ages havent been going further than 2nd round.
Tracey Hallam is not seeded. Wong Mew Choo is seeded 8.
BY the way , where is tine???
"Draw completed. Click the back back button to view the next category draw"
and tine isnt in the draw:eek::eek::eek:
it is empty........in excel sheet too:mad::mad:
Tine Rasmussen is in the draw. :):):)
Don't know what happened to the Excel Spreadsheet earlier.:eek::eek:
Below, you can find the latest Excel Spreadsheet that was sent to me.
Cheers... chris@ccc

Random ramblings...
- With his contraction of Dengue Fever, I'm not sure TH will clear WCH.
- LD will be severely tested by PSH. Not something LD wanted so early.
- Fu/Cai are presented with an easy path to the SF.
- MD draw is chock full of exciting matches.
- Classic encounter between GL/ZB and GE/NR on the cards.
- ZN faces a stacked draw in her half, including JJY, PHY, WC and Tine
Time for people to reassess their predictions. I certainly will

...
..to the Semis, yes...
..but not necessarily an easy path for Fu & Cai to the Finals, IMO (a few of BCers thought the same also). If CTF & LWW can survive through their rounds, CHN's top MD pair will most likely meet their arch-nemesis before the Finals (and we all know how their matches had been recently). Yeah, CTF & LWW's 1st round match is definitely going to be one heck of a battle; but i'm going with the vets in this one.
Even Luluk & Alvent have an outside chance of going quite far (they've been almost un-noticeable)..
But yeah, concur with the MD excitement.

There will be tons of exciting encounters on the first day already.
KJ VS LHI - Very bad luck for the Danish veteran. I wished him to make it to the SF, but he is not likely to pass LHI.
SD vs PB - not easy for either of them.
TH vs WCH - Again, bad luck for the veteran.
LCW vs Ronald - Another first round miracle would fail BC's hope for reaching 1 million posts during OG.
RN/EG vs ZB/GL - wth, first round????
MD is craziest - every seeded pairs is facing a tougher first draw than the non-seeded.
WS - XXF has a better paths than ZN, but TR looks bright to enter the final too.
I think we can expect some major upset on first day.

mens singles draw seem abit the-usual-draw we usually see.
IF, Lin dan beat PSH
IF, Chen jin beat taufik.H
IF, Bao CL beat Lee chong wei
it will be an all chinese final.
My prediction:
tough match for lin dan vs PSH>> lin dan will go through and most
probably take it there from chen jin.
I hope, Lee chong wei will be able to win Bao CL. this match will be
even exciting either.
Mens FINAL: LIN DAN VS LEE CHONG WEI (most desired match to watch) hope they play as if there wont be tomorrow :)
to me, i dont see which will be the eventual winner. it will depend on how they play on the day itself..
and finally,
both are already winners and top of badminton since both have reached the finals. :p

The draw for 3 chinese single players and Fu/Chai are good. They are lucky. For other players are all about the same. Malaysian players draws are not very good but not very bad. At least they do not have to meet each others in early rounds.
KKK/TBH draws are not so good indeed. However if their goal is to win gold medal they must aim to beat every pairs. In fact they should take this opportunity to prove to the world they can eliminate the japanese pair which they lost twice. Their win against the Japanese will boost up their confident sky high. GO GO GO Malaysian players!

07-27-2008, 04:13 AM
Well when I say they have good draws means their opponents/potential opponents that stand in their way are perceived as weaker than them. So they have a higher chance to win. However, in badminton especially in big tournament like Oplympic. Up set is very common. So in my humble opinion they only have marginally higher chance.

BADMINTON/Olympic Watch: Tough draw for Malaysians
By K.M. Boopathy

BRAVE words followed the Beijing Olympics badminton draw yesterday but privately, the Malaysian shuttlers must know that if they are to end the long wait for gold, it will require superhuman effort. Of the lot, only men's singles Lee Chong Wei seemed to have luck on his side as he avoided bogeyman Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia but the same didn't happen to Wong Choong Hann and the men's doubles.
In fact, Wong Choon Hann, Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah and Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong were left contemplating potential first round exits as they drew players who have held the upperhand against them in recent times.
Chong Wei, seeded second, received a first round bye but faces a potentially tricky second round match against Ronald Susilo of Singapore.
Ronald sent China's Lin Dan packing in the first round in Athens 2004 but if Chong Wei's recent form and confidence are anything to go by, he will not suffer the same fate.
Victory will likely pit Chong Wei against Stanislav Pukhov of Russia with a possible quarter-final against either Sony Dwi Kuncoro of Indonesia or Thailand's Boonsak Ponsana.
That should be followed by a semi-final meeting with third seed Bao Chunlai of China, with the Malaysian 8-4 up in the head-to-head.
Further good news for Chong Wei is that while he avoided darkhorse Lee Hyun Il in the early rounds, Chunlai has to negotiate past the South Korean in the quarter-finals.
A win for Chong Wei will mean a final showdown with Lin Dan but for Wong Choong Hann, it could be over after just the first match.
The veteran plays Taufik in the second round, with both having drawn a first round bye, and it will be the second meeting between them at the Olympics. In Athens, Taufik swept past Choong Hann in the third round.
Tan Fook-Wan Wah open against All England runners-up Lee Jae Jin-Hwang Ji Man of South Korea in the first round.
Jae Jin-Ji Man beat Tan Fook-Wan Wah in their only meeting, in the quarter-finals of the Asian Badminton Championships this year.
If the veterans survive, their chances of making it to the semi-finals look good as they will meet either Indonesia's Luluk Hadiyanto-Alven Yulianto or Japan's Keita Masuda-Tadashi Ohtsuka in the quarter-finals. The Malaysians have a better track record against both pairs.
Their semi-final opponents are expected to be second seeds Fu Haifeng-Cai Yun of China and Tan Fook-Wan Wah lead 6-4 in the head-to-head.
It is even trickier for Kien Keat-Boon Heong as they will be playing bogeymen Shuichi Sakamoto-Shintaro Ikeda of Japan in the first round.
Japan's No 1 pair beat Kien Keat-Boon Heong in their last two meetings.
A win will most likely pit the Malaysians against top seeds Markis Kido-Hendra Setiawan in the quarter-finals, provided the Indonesians overcome China's Guo Zhendong-Xie Zhongbo in the first round.
Kien Keat-Boon Heong have not lost in four meetings with Markis-Hendra.
Kien Keat-Boon Heong are expected to face South Koreans Jung Jae Sung-Lee Yong Dae, who have a difficult first round encounter against Denmark's Lars Paaske-Jonas Rasmussen, in the last four.
In the women's singles, eighth seed Wong Mew Choo should reach the last eight where she is expected to take on third seed Lu Lan of China.
Mew Choo has an outside chance of reaching the semi-finals as she has beaten Lu Lan twice in five previous meetings.
In the women's doubles, Wong Pei Tty-Chin Eei Hui are in for a rough ride as they take on fourth seeds Lee Kyung Wong-Lee Hyo Jung of South Korea in the first round.

Based on the draw, Korean LJJ/HJM could go all the way to the finals....
They stand more chances then their compatriots, the hot favourites JJS/LYD

Hm...hm...hm...I sense that LD's journey will end at the hand of PSH
I am not sure if LCW can pass SDK this time. SDK is now a monster ready to "swallow" LCW
XD...dissaster for Gao Ling/ Zheng Bo....
Again ...another disaster for No. 1 WS who have to meet Lyliana / Vita.....
Overall, it's a good draw for Ina

If the news about TH's dengue fever is true, then it sounds like karma to me for TH's arrogance against PBSI etc. I still hope that he will recover though, but he'll need to dig deep to get pass WCH and then Vietnamese dark horse Nguyen in R2.
Sony has an outside chance but I would be happy with another bronze from him. MK/HS will have to be in their absolute top best to progress to the finals as they got a very tough draw indeed.
Maria Kristin should get good playing experinece against Tine in round 1/16.
VM/LN should forget about WD and concentrate on XD, where INA's biggest chance for a gold lies.

Fans of KOR will be very pleased if PSH and/or LHI could arrive at the MS Final (best if they are to meet each other there). KOR players have yet to win an Olympic MS Badminton Gold medal.
Many hope that the MS Badminton Gold would go to KOR or MAS this year, at Beijing 2008.
Up to now, the MS Badminton Gold medals have only been won by INA(twice), CHN(once) and DEN(once). So it could be 5th time lucky for KOR or MAS. :):):)

Defending champion Yang considers badminton draw not bad
BEIJING, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Olympic Champion Yang Wei on Tuesday expressed her confidence in defending the women's doubles' championship at the Beijing Olympics, saying the draw result is "not bad." The badminton draw for the coming Olympics pitted defending champions Yang Wei and Zhang Jiewen in the first round against fledging Indonesian pair Liliyana Natsir and Vita Marissa, currently ranked No.7 on women's doubles' list.
The draw result for Yang/Zhang was chorused as bad luck by media reports. Even Li Yongbo, head coach of the Chinese badminton team, took it as the worst one among all the five events.
Veteran Yang, however, chose to believe in faith and fate, which are the two pillars of beliefs stated by Amy Tan, a famous Chinese-American writer in her first non-fiction book The Opposite of Fate.
"I prefer to believe in faith," Yang wrote in her personal blog." If all the members of the Chinese squad have faith in victory, we will serve many fantastic games for sports fans all over the world."
The badminton draw ceremony was held last Saturday by the Badminton World Federation in Henan Plaza, and the competition will start from August 9 to 17 at the Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium.

Absolutely agree....if a question is asked to the top seeded (rank 1 - 4) WD pair " who will they avoid to meet before the Final?"...the answer will surely be " Vita/Lyliana"....
Korea ok but MAS no
But why not MAS?
Any reason for not picking MAS?
