Of course I want to see Wacha win OG (or any tournament for that matter), but realistically the chance is slim to none, unless a miracle is to happen.

I beg to differ. From history, the players who played well before going into Olympics never did well.

In 2004, Lin Dan was called Super Da as he was almost invincible ...winning title after title. But he lost.

In 2000, Taufik was top seed and Peter Gade was 2nd seed, but both also went out. Both played well going into the Olympics but flopped on the biggest stage.

So both Lin Dan and Chong Wei will bear this in mind.

But he will always bounce back so he might win the 1st SS after the Olympic. LD, like LCW every other players will be aiming to beat him and also he will be in a huge amount of pressure. Even though I voted for LCW but I believe Lin Dan is the one mostly will prevail. The only draw back of LCW is he has yet to show us he can win any big tournament like AE, WC and AG(huge pressure). On the contrary, LD has multiples AEs and WCs titles under his belt compare to 4 years ago.

Lin Dan or the two other chinese players have a huge advantage due to playing in China. I recall that LD and CJ will get boosted by the crowds and be extra hard to beat whereas Bao Chunlai might choke as he had done before when getting under pressure. Lin Dan has matured a lot since Athen 4 years ago so as I see it hes the clear favourite. The biggest threats to a chinese mens single gold medal will be LCW and a very underrated LHI. I predict LHI can create big upsets in this tournament.

From your description, you definitely look more European not Asian, but possibly Eurasian, as we have this as a distinct group in Singapore and Malaysia.

You have missed your AE chance, now make sure you will not allow the BO to miss you. It will be very hard to beat a record of 2 gold medals in MS badminton.

You cant compare a single super series tournament with either AE, WC or OG. These three are far more valuable to a player than any other tournament. Lin Dan is double world champion and has won All England 3 times?, thats why I rate him as a player that can stand the pressure. In Athen he was only 21 years old and choked but besides that he has stood under pressure and achieved more than any other chinese mens single player has done for the past 20 years or so.

Bao however has lost final after final and is known for being softer than Lin Dan. Sure Bao has matured too since the last olympic, however I still think that over the last 5 years you can see that Lin Dan is mentally stronger than Bao.

this guy is tough but he didnt have the special weapon to kill off his opponents. He did beat ChenYu in SG but lost to PG (very close game). In INA, he also lost to BCL (another rubber games). I hv the highest respect for this guy... yes, pls dun count him out :D

They say there is a chinese in all corners of the world. But all them no longer hold attachments to where their ancestries came from. They are polarised - most are fully assimilated into their country of adoption, and needless to say the chinese who are a few generations old will never feel any close affiliation with China.

Hence, that is why Chinese Malaysians will only think Malaysia Boleh and not China Boleh, even though all the current batch of players are Chinese.
