Jagdpanther 08-05-2008, 09:41 AM Ow, I see. Thank you.
Now let's see what kind of obstacles are awaiting them all.
China, Korea, Malaysia, ROC, Europe countries, all send their strongest team?

Malaysia may send youn ger MD pairs to Taipeh.
Will be less Europeans after OG as well as lack of funding...
I know a ,lot of Europeans prefer to play Bulgarian GP, Dutch GP, Luxemburg GP and Begium Challenge.....
huangkwokhau 08-05-2008, 09:45 AM Honestly I am not sure Endang/Lits is good choice..I cnat wait to see Greys/Nitya..Nathalia/Nadia...
Jagdpanther 08-05-2008, 09:53 AM Honestly I am not sure Endang/Lits is good choice..
Lack of available girls to pick, perhaps?
I mean, do you have any better idea of who'll be paired with who?
huangkwokhau 08-05-2008, 09:59 AM Lack of available girls to pick, perhaps?
I mean, do you have any better idea of who'll be paired with who?
well..not really...as Lita is a bit " tanggung" in my opinion...she does not smash well and cant defend well either...
For sure..Yulianti/Nathalia is not as good as before....Nadia is good double player but pairing with Nathalia remains to be seen...
They should have registered those new combo to Indonesia Challenge but PBSI did not do that...at least to see how lethal new combo will be...Meiliana/Shendy will be in Surabaya Challenge...I guess only Junior pairs will be there.
Jagdpanther 08-18-2008, 08:07 AM Alrightie, (badminton in) Olympics is over, so let's set our eyes to this tournament!

badMania 08-22-2008, 08:28 PM I heard that Joko wanted to split from Hendra but there is no partner yet......Frans/Rendra ranked # 29 too
How abt Alvent Yulianto/Joko Riyadi for a few tryout first? Joko Riyadi definitely needs a better partner than Hendra (AG)! Hendra is already quite old now, while Joko is only 23 this year and has a shot at the next Olympics if we plan well.
Basically, we have 1 solid pair (Kido/Hendra) and a few other who are capable of making it to the next Olympics:
1. Rian/Yoke (would be 28 by then)
2. Fran/Rendra (ditto)
3. Bona/Ahsan (if they continue to rise up the table, why not?)
4. Joko/another partner perhaps?
leonardklh 08-22-2008, 08:59 PM no, women double de?

huangkwokhau 08-26-2008, 04:42 PM LYD/JJs, Sony, TH all withdrew
Jagdpanther 08-26-2008, 07:37 PM Reason?
Taufik is, well, nothing expected from him. But Sony and the Koreans?
CLELY 08-27-2008, 01:05 AM Simon Santoso is MS top-seed, thanks to all top-players skip this GP Gold tourney. And INA WD pairs have new combination such as Jo Novita/Rani Mundiasti, Greysia Polii/Nitya, Endang/Lita Nurlita, quite surprising. Good to see many INA youngsters to participate here.
KOR will bring small squad to Taipei, MS/WS/MD youngsters plus the newly-crowned Olympic Champ, Lee Young Dae/Lee Hyo Jung.
abesadi 08-27-2008, 03:49 AM Ups? Simon is top seed now? There is no MS top rank go to this tournament? Hope he can win this grand prix, and hope maria kristin win too..

according to seeded entries (http://simplybadminton.blogspot.com/2008/08/s_27.html), simon top on ms, then maria kristin 3rd on ws and tony/candra 2nd on md, so probably 3 champions :)

Yup, at the very least till World Juniors in... Nov 2008 I think. Lim Khim Wah is 19, over aged for World Juniors. After WJ, dunno whether the coaches will pair Mak back with Khim Wah, since Teo is supposed to be MS player.

Jagd, Simon and Maria Kristin will definitely be in finals, who do you think they will meet?
abesadi 08-29-2008, 07:50 AM Whoever meet simon and maria in final, be ready for their losses..
No hurtfeeling, hehehe..
Go maria, Go simon..
Jagdpanther 08-29-2008, 10:24 AM Jagd, Simon and Maria Kristin will definitely be in finals, who do you think they will meet?
Not so fast. If everything's going well, Maria will meet Saina in SF....
The Indian lady will be pretty determined to avenge her loss in OG.
Pretty dangerous one.;)
As for Simon, again, if everything's going well, perhaps he'll meet Nguyen TM or Uncle Botak (I mean Sairul).
I hope they both can win their first SS. However, saying 'they will definitely be in final' is absolutely overconfident.
Never count the chicken before the eggs hatch, they say.:)
KlasseE 08-29-2008, 11:08 AM Not so fast. .... Never count the chicken before the eggs hatch, they say.:)
MS - must keep an eye on Tanongsak (or he wants to be so called as SONG). As for uncle botak, don't worry lahhhhh since he can only play straight game, 3rd set will be too tough for him...
WS - Saina 45-55 in favor of Maria kristin. She should meet the German Chinese in final.
Hey friend, just predictions....i even can't find chic nor eggs:)
Jagdpanther 08-30-2008, 02:03 AM As for uncle botak, don't worry lahhhhh since he can only play straight game, 3rd set will be too tough for him...

Win this tourney? Chinese Taipei Open is categorized GP Gold not SuperSeries tournament. Yeah, hope both Simon and Maria will produce best result here since Japan and China Masters SS certainly will be tough test for them as almost all top-rank shuttlers will participate it.

- WD : NONE
- XD : Lee Young Dae/Lee Hyo Jung

hansonlouphers 09-01-2008, 08:54 PM But the OG Champion must have big confidence to beat da world champion again. Hope our XD have beautiful draws. Go nova go butet! lol.
d65up2 09-01-2008, 11:15 PM Hehehehehehehe well well I think INA should try and split Nova-Lily this time and prepare younger pair for Butet perhaps....Moh Rijal might be a good choice or even Hendra Gunawan while putting Nova with Vita is another option to go for

madbad 09-02-2008, 11:43 AM Based on the entry list, Korea will send small squad,
- MS : Hong Ji Hoon, Shin Baek Cheol
- WS : Hwang Hye Youn (no Jun Jae Youn)
- MD : Cho Gun Woo/Yoo Yeon Seong
- WD : NONE
- XD : Lee Young Dae/Lee Hyo Jung
Don't know whether there's another last minute withdrawal.
Thanks CLELY. Hwang Hye Youn alone in the WS is worth the price of admission. :p:p Surprised LYD/LHY are entered into the XD. Hope they do not withdraw.

He isn't in the sqauds for TPE or JPN open.
I assume he is either resting or training at home until the younger players gain experience and they see which one reacts best. Pretty much all of the above teams with a few exceptions have very little experience in SS or old Grand prix circuit.
NR doesn't really need Tournament experience, especially with a weaker partner who is playing in their first tournaments.
It wouldn't surprise me if he didn't play competitively again until next years SS tournaments (January)

He retired from MD. His style/physicality is not suited to MD.

No other singles players are eligible to play.
CLELY 09-06-2008, 11:26 PM They may withdraw and focus on Japan only...
From online media that I read, yeah Lee Young Dae/Lee Hyo Jung will not compete Chinese Taipei GP Gold plus Japan SS too.

His partner needs treatment for her back and shoulders, and he needs rest to recover from accumulated fatigue. He will participate, however, in the National Athletic Meet in South Jeolla Province in November and is preparing attend university.
