Sweeden 3rd Jessica 08-10-2008, 08:02 AM Well...I am glad that there are a thread on swimming for those swimming lovers here..I am cheering for Tao Li tomorrow and i think she has a great chance to win a medal in the 100M butterfly.I am really impressed by this young girl and she has a great future.Entering final in the Olympic Game is a great achievement since swimming mostly dominated by non Asian swimmers and she is just 18 this year, what a rare talent and is good for Singapore.Hope she can win a medal tomorrow. demolidor 08-10-2008, 08:03 AM This is just the heats :p (men 4x100 free on 10/08/08) jimbo 08-10-2008, 08:08 AM Well...I am glad that there are a thread on swimming for those swimming lovers here..I am cheering for Tao Li tomorrow and i think she has a great chance to win a medal in the 100M butterfly.I am really impressed by this young girl and she has a great future.Entering final in the Olympic Game is a great achievement since swimming mostly dominated by non Asian swimmers and she is just 18 this year, what a rare talent and is good for Singapore.Hope she can win a medal tomorrow. lets see if she will join Park (Korea) who won the GOLD this morning... Jessica 08-10-2008, 08:11 AM lets see if she will join Park (Korea) who won the GOLD this morning... Jimbo..Remember to cheer for her on my behalf ok???:rolleyes:Sigh..Going to miss the morning session and miss LCW vs Ronold..:(:( aeida 08-10-2008, 10:43 AM 4 x 100M freestyle men -- AUSTRALIA Against USA. Aussie will win. yes, a swimming thread is created.. i'm a huge fan of Australian swimming team, so yeah, i'm rooting for the Aussies... and let's hope Grant Hackett to become the first man to win 3 consecutive golds from 1500 m freestyle.. although there's Larsen Jensen that can challenge him, but i believe in Hackett.. aeida 08-10-2008, 10:51 AM lets see if she will join Park (Korea) who won the GOLD this morning... Park won because no Ian Thorpe this time.. but by winning gold at this young age, i respect him.. let's see if he can break Thorpe's record in near future, then i'll be sure to support and respect him more..:) robin7 08-10-2008, 06:32 PM This is just the heats :p (men 4x100 free on 10/08/08) That's right. Btw, I think Phelps will probably get 5 to 7 gold medals. He will either lose one of his relays or his pet events. Hopefully, Wu Peng will surprise him in 200m fly. jimbo 08-10-2008, 08:29 PM I saw Daniel in action yesterday... though he broke the national record, it wasnt good enough to qualify for the semi finals... none of our swimmers qualifies for the semi finals or finals... sad sad sad... SG has Tao Li in the final today... I think she can win a bronze medal... she is goooooddd..... :) 10am today... stay tune.... george@chongwei 08-10-2008, 08:50 PM 10 minutes to 10 am!!! let the match begin! shawn30_k 08-10-2008, 09:19 PM And now channel 5 has just turned to the watercube and michael phelps is on tv yet again. extremenanopowe 08-10-2008, 09:19 PM looks like phelps is on now. Tao Li not yet. Swimming gets priority in Singapore. Oldhand 08-10-2008, 09:32 PM This is on non-badminton action. No medal... yet, a gritty attempt. robin7 08-10-2008, 10:39 PM What a comeback by the US 4X100 free relay team in the last 2m. CLELY 08-11-2008, 12:12 AM Definitely USA and AUS will dominate this aquatics-swimming event. It's so exciting to wait whether swimming star Michael Phelps will break Spitz's record this time in Water Cube or not. From Asia, Japanese Kosuke Kitajima and South Korean Park Tae-Hwan has delivered one gold each for their country. Jessica 08-11-2008, 03:59 AM Hmm..Lets see whether Park Tae Hwan can upset Micheal Phelps in the 200 freestyle or not.. demolidor 08-11-2008, 07:10 AM The German swimmers are performing really poor! Perhaps because they're the only ones in Adidas suits but I'm sure those must've performed just fine in practice otherwise they surely wouldn't use them ... Just watching some interviews and one after the other get's eliminated in the heats and they have no idea why!? demolidor 08-11-2008, 07:11 AM What a comeback by the US 4X100 free relay team in the last 2m. Indeed. The quest is still on! Poor finishing from the French, there is no way he should have lost that  robin7 08-11-2008, 07:09 PM  Indeed. The quest is still on! Poor finishing from the French, there is no way he should have lost that  As the French coach said, it was US team won it rather than France lost it. Jason Lezak just had an unbeliavable last leg of 46.06 seconds. robin7 08-11-2008, 09:31 PM 3rd gold, another WR for Phelps. CLELY 08-13-2008, 12:33 AM Phelps has collected 5 golds until today's competition : - 400m Individual medley - 4x200m Freestyle relay (team) - 200m Freestyle - 200m Butterflystyle - 4x100m Freestyle relay (team) And he will hunt another 3 golds to break Spitz record... V3i HoN6 08-13-2008, 02:35 AM  Indeed. The quest is still on! Poor finishing from the French, there is no way he should have lost that  They break the world record by 3.9+ seconds and only grab a silver. jimbo 08-13-2008, 03:28 AM Phelps has collected 5 golds until today's competition : - 400m Individual medley - 4x200m Freestyle relay (team) - 200m Freestyle - 200m Butterflystyle - 4x100m Freestyle relay (team) And he will hunt another 3 golds to break Spitz record... unbelievable... simply sensation... this guy is as good as Ian Thorpe, if not better.... aeida 08-13-2008, 08:02 AM unbelievable... simply sensation... this guy is as good as Ian Thorpe, if not better.... I think Phelps and Thorpe should not be compared as both specialize in different events. Phelps is the best in medley events while Thorpe was in freestyle event.. besides, Phelps lost to Thorpe during 200 m freestyle final in Athens 2004, so if i want to compare them, i'd say Thorpe is slightly better.. :D:D.. GO GO Australian Swimming Team!! jimbo 08-13-2008, 09:21 PM I think Phelps and Thorpe should not be compared as both specialize in different events. GO GO Australian Swimming Team!! though i am not a big swimming fans, i do admire both Thorpe and Phelps. I watched the race (OG2004) and i still remember that was the greatest race by far (Thorpe, Netherland guy, and Phelps). No doubt, Thorpe won the GOLD but Phelps did better in OG08... now, he is the greatest olympiad in the history with 11 GOLDs... and still counting... demolidor 08-13-2008, 10:00 PM As the French coach said, it was US team won it rather than France lost it. Jason Lezak just had an unbeliavable last leg of 46.06 seconds. :D What else is he going to say ... Anyhoo I was talking about the last stroke. If Bernard had a better finish than he had he would have won ... (too bad they can't use actual footage) http://www.faniq.com/blog/Video-Jason-Lezak-USA-Mens-4x100-Freestyle-Relay-Win-Explanation-From-Beijing-2008-Olympic-Games-Blog-11037 Wow they're really rushing the numbers one after the other ... 100 Freestyle Final finished, 5 seconds later the next number is on already . CLELY 08-13-2008, 11:04 PM The dark-horse CHN swimmer Liu Zige created new world record (2:04.18) of Women's 200m Butterflystyle and won gold. Congratz to Alain Bernard who grabbed gold in prestigious swimming event, 100m Freestyle! aeida 08-13-2008, 11:43 PM The dark-horse CHN swimmer Liu Zige created new world record (2:04.18) of Women's 200m Butterflystyle and won gold. Congratz to Alain Bernard who grabbed gold in prestigious swimming event, 100m Freestyle! yeah congrats to Bernard too.. just that my heart sank to see Van den Hoogenband finished at 5th place.. CLELY 08-14-2008, 10:26 PM Again, the swimming sensation Michael Phelps won his 6th gold with new world record in 200m Individual medley, amazing... ForBirdie22 08-14-2008, 11:58 PM its cool that he's winning the swim meets with great times and breaking records but i'm tired of hearing so much hype from NBC about him... the media repeats the topic about him so much. kwun 08-15-2008, 12:00 AM its cool that he's winning the swim meets with great times and breaking records but i'm tired of hearing so much hype from NBC about him... the media repeats the topic about him so much. so a local newspaper says the reason is that the track n field is so tarnished by doping that nbc is avoiding covering track n field. but yes. so sick of phelps as well as that 4x200 relay finish footage. CLELY 08-15-2008, 09:26 PM Seventh gold for Phelps in this Olympics through 100m butterfly style. robin7 08-16-2008, 10:12 PM 8 out of 8 for Phelps - 7 world records and one olympic record. Jessica 08-16-2008, 10:35 PM Wow..Micheal Phelps win 8 gold medals in this Olympic..Incredible achievement from him and really salute him.He is just amazing and really congrats to him... jimbo 08-16-2008, 10:41 PM unbelievable guy... i think he has surpassed Ian Thorpe azn_123 08-16-2008, 10:41 PM Wow..Micheal Phelps win 8 gold medals in this Olympic..Incredible achievement from him and really salute him.He is just amazing and really congrats to him... I agree, he's an excellent swimmer! Great man! cooler 08-16-2008, 11:39 PM 8 out of 8 for Phelps - 7 world records and one olympic record.it is a silly record anyway. If I can convince IOC and BWF to allow badminton events to include: 1. status quo format with feather 2. forehand strokes only 3. backhand strokes only 4. drive shots only 5. netting shots only 6. format #1 to 5 using feather, then with Mavis shuttles 2x5=10 possible events which LD could get 10 golds:p Now let throw in - fourseome on MD, WD and XD formats. Ex foursome MD (hanbin, zhengbo, FHF, CY versus MKido, HSetiawan, Nova, flandy) foursome WD (yawen, yu, du, yang wei versus korean gals) foursome XD etc.... In track and field, lets introduce walking and running sideways, handstand racing, wheelbarrow racing, In rowing, we already have sculls, kayaking, canoeing, 1 man, 2 man, 4 man, 8 man. Why not families? lol and i have not even included sailing kwun 08-16-2008, 11:42 PM and i want to convince IOC to drop swimming because it is dominated by only a few countries! ;) robin7 08-17-2008, 12:37 AM it is a silly record anyway. It is true. One can only achieve this kind of feat in events like swimming. george@chongwei 08-17-2008, 12:59 AM he is already a legend!!!:D kwun 08-17-2008, 01:02 AM i think the best way to categorize it is by height. we should have WS for players below 5ft 4inches. and then one for 5ft 4inches to 5 ft 10 inches. and then 5ft 10 inches and above! then Maria will win the Gold. XXF and ZN still have to fight for the 5ft 10inch+ title but hey, at least now everyone is happy. george@chongwei 08-17-2008, 01:23 AM i think the best way to categorize it is by height. we should have WS for players below 5ft 4inches. and then one for 5ft 4inches to 5 ft 10 inches. and then 5ft 10 inches and above! then Maria will win the Gold. It's really a miracle that he won the 4x100 free and 100 butterfly gold. But of course he deserved it. Loh 08-25-2008, 01:34 AM i think the best way to categorize it is by height. we should have WS for players below 5ft 4inches. and then one for 5ft 4inches to 5 ft 10 inches. and then 5ft 10 inches and above! then Maria will win the Gold. If it is for 100m butterfly, then our Tao Li should win the gold for her new Asian record of 57.54 sec and the first Singaporean to enter the finals and placed 5th in a line-up of taller opponents! :D |
