I don't see some INA players who they should compete in here,
Adi Pratama (Pelatnas)
Sylvinna Kurniawan (Djarum), her ranking will drop as SF ranking points last year
Subakti
Come back again,
Fendi Iwanto (Djarum), back from Chile
I Komang Sandy (ex partner Wifqi and Danny Bawa), represent Suryanaga now

Tough battle in MD as Korea sends their 2 most promising youngsters:
Kwon Yi Goo/Ko Sung Hyun -- who beat Luluk/Alvent in the INA Open 2008.
Cho Gun Woo/Yoo Yeon Seong

I heard Sylvi is going to move to either USA or Spain... Still undecided. It was her personal choice.
Komang from Djarum will play with a player from Suryanaga. But Komang himself is still officially part of Djarum.
I am still not sure why PBSI did not send Tantowi-Yulianti to play in this tournament... Are they injured or are they just merely training for Taipei Open?

Thank's for the info
I thaught Sylvinna got injury again, it's pity she can't play in her hometown.
If She got to Spain, she follows Hendri W,
if go to USA follows ? Smashie ?
We prefer to she keep stay in Djarum.
Komang Sandy will paired with Ade Riyadi, ex Djarum too.

Fran Kurniawan/Shendy Puspa Irawati to win the XD! They have the potential to be INA top future XD pair beside Tantowi Ahmad/Yulianti and Mohd Rijal/Greysia Polii.
Meiliana Jauhari/Shendy Puspa Irawati to win the WD!
Andre Kurniawan will have a fighting chance to win the MS!
Maria Elfira Christina also has a similar chance to win the WS!
Fran Kurniawan/Rendra Wijaya or Fernando Kurniawan/Lingga Lie to win the MD.

Yu Hirayama vs Siti Anida
Have any of you seen Siti? She's cute! With enough makeup, she can compete in the Miss Indonesia competition... ;) Her dad is Mr. Tutang, a member of the winning INA Thomas Cup team [1958 and ...maybe 1962 too, not sure]... INA's #2 MD at that time... And yes yes, she's a bit too young to be his daughter. He married late, really late... ;)
These Marias are Maria Elfira & Maria Febe, not Maria Kristin
Yup, PB Djarum has triple the triple Maria-s: Maria Kristin [Djarum #1], Maria Elfira [Djarum #2], and Maria Febe [Djarum #3]...
Among the three...
Maria Kristin has the best shot-making technique
Maria Elfira has the best endurance and stamina
Maria Febe has the best footwork
:p

Oh, I just checked, Siti Anida's father, Pak Tutang was part of INA Thomas Cup team that won the Cup in 1964. Not 1958 or 1961 as I previously thought. He partnered with Ferry Sonneville as INA's #2 MD. His usual partner was Pak Unang. Unang-Tutang were pretty famous in the 1960s... ;)

That's what i'd told before..
We called her as Dea. And she's not yet 18 years old but she has 175 cm height. We also called her, Siti "Sharaphova" Annida. Not just because she has tallest body among the other junior player but good looking as a "model" too. She's from Bandung (West Java).

Strange that those local players already registered ended up not even showing up  Shameful....
However, Hirayama Yu's withdrawal also means that Maria Elfira Christina has a very good chance of winning the WS title. She just beat Chie Emezu convincingly in the first round. She should beat Lindaweni Fanetri in the next round.
Maria Febe Kusumastuti [3/4] also won in straight sets today, and will face a veteran player, Yuli Marfuah in R16.
Only 4 non-INA players are left in the WS Draw:
Bae Youn Joo [5/8] to face Febby Angguni
Kim Moon Hi [3/4] to face Alfa Vivianita
Chen Hsiao-Huan likely to be eliminated by Rosaria Yusfin Pungkasari [9/16]
and Leena Tirapongpatana, likely to be elminated by Yuan Kartika Putri [5/8]

A few minor upsets in the XD as Cho Gun Wo (WJC winner with Lee Yong Dae)/Choi Ha Na lost to Angga Pratama/Anneke Feinya Agustine, and Chen Chung-Jen/Lee Tai An lost to another local pair Yohanes Rendy Sugiarto/Komala Dewi. I earlier predicted those foreign pairs will face Rendra Wijaya/Meiliana Jauhari [2] in R16 and QF respectively.

Bellaetrix Manuputty

Maria Febe Kusumastuti

It is not shameful to not have enough money for badminton... :p Most of the BWF member-countries are also not well funded. Government not funding badminton is a fact of life for 80% of them maybe... :p And don't hope for too much in the future, our government has to prioritize fuel subsidies and other basic citizen needs first... ;)

Kenichi too underestimate his opponent??
I thaught 2 NAS (Nugroho Andi Saputro and Nandang Arif Saputra) are INA MS future hope.
Watching INA MS performance in IO 2008, I don't have big expectation in the future (has future top-10 players after Simon)
Mostly players played in "safe" style, defensive and waiting the opponent made error (Tommy, Alamsyah & Bagus)
Another style is Offensive but a lot of unforced error (Andre, Adit & Bandar)
PBSI has to search other younger talent from Pelatnas Pratama (2 NAS) and clubs like as Hayom Rumbaka.
In WS I put the hope on Maria Febe.

2. Chrisna Adi Wijaya/Syahmie Syarif Radhitian bt 2nd seed, Ko Sung-hyun/Kwon Yi-Goo of Korea Rep., 14-21 21-19 21-18

And may I ask, what [5/8] seed means?
Normally, we have 2 players/pairs seeded [3/4], 4 players/pairs seeded [5/8], 8 players/pairs seeded [9/16] in each event. Click here (http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/seeds.aspx?id=23693) for more detailed examples.
Instead of [3/4], some tourneys assign [3] and [4]. E.g. BCL & CJ were seeded [3] & [4] respectively in AE2008 but both BCL & CJ were seeded [3/4] in OG2008.
Likewise, some tourneys group seeds [9] to [16] into [9/16]. Hence, u'll see 8 players/pairs seeded [9/16].
So, mathematically, the Korean pair is [6/8] seed?

Yes, you have. And you're not wrong.
If Lingga/Fernando can stop the Korean pair tomorrow, it'll be all INA affair in MD.
Best of luck for them all!:)
The Koreans will have a 55% chance of winning... :)

See what I mean... :) Siti can compete in the Miss Indonesia competition... ;) She's an Indonesian-teenage-cutie... ;) She is about half my age... About the same age difference as her father and mother... :D :D :D
In case I can't get Reiko, I should just concentrate locally... :D
Come on Krisna, i think you are being too humbled. You are just not confidence !! I believe you can get any one you want if you put up a genuine effort and heart to it .lol ;)

Nice to see Adi Chrisna Wijaya/Syahmie Syarif Radhitian beating Kwon Yi Goo/Ko Sung Hyun [2] (also a rising pair from Korea) in rubber-sets yesterday. Our young INA pair has a bright future. So, Hau-Ge is right in his comments ;)
The match between Cho Gun Woo/Yoo Yeon Seong [3/4] and Fernando Kurniawan/Lingga Lie [5/8] will also be interesting. I agree with Krisna that the Korean pair has the slight edge.

What happen with maria elfira? Why she lost the game?
Maria Elfira became afraid in the last game... Her shots became tentative and not sharp. Rizki Amelia took advantage and attacked agressively. ;) But the day after Rizki's upset, Rosaria Pipin Pungkasari, a clubmate of Fira took care of Rizki briskly... :p
Interesting MD match, top-seed Rendra/Fran will face Korean young talent Cho Gun Woo/Yoo Yeon Seong.
That Fran-Rendra match was wonderful to watch. 1 hour long and Rendra was so energized all-match long... :p They basically stuck to their gameplan to make it difficult for the Koreans to use their explosive smashes... in the end, our INA pair won the day through execution... :)

I hope both Pipin and Wahyu will win today. They need their 1st International title to boost their self confidence [and ambition]... :)
Pipin has a 50% chance of winning against Bae, the Korean leftie... Bae's weapon seems to be just her strong smash... :p

Maybe Harimau was talking about Evert Sukamta [seed 5/8] from PB. Tangkas Alfamart. He is one of the most well known player from Tangkas who is around 16 - 17... Evert lost in the Under-19 quarterfinals to Gary of PB. Djarum yesterday afternoon... In addition to Evert, PB. Tangkas Alfamart also have this tournament's #1 seed: Ary Trisnanto.

Thanks so much for clarifying this. I think the Ary i meant must be the Trisnanto who is from Tangkas cause i saw him play when he was so young. But from what i saw, the kid has so much talent already and very quick, explosive, and powerful for a skinny boy at that time. My son was trying out the training program at Tangkas and happened to be in the same age group with Ary. Oh boy that kid is so good already at that time.

I think what Jagdpanther means is the regeneration below those 3 players. I think MAS MS have Tan Chung Seang, and another youngsters and MAS encourage to send them to many international tournaments. CHN have Lu Yi, Gong Weijie. I think we must watch seriously from THA as well. INA have also young players, but most of them are mediocre, nothing special such as Simon, Sony, and TH which have shown their special skills in young age. Tommy, Andreas, Ari Yuli, or even Bandar, have not shown special skills up to now, I have no idea, is that because their talents or because something wrong with the training?

So Jagdpanther, tell us what have you done lately to strengthen the MS department of INA badminton? Or what should we do?

Directly? I'm afraid, still none.
I'm terribly sorry if my comments irritate you (somehow, I think you are). However, I simply stated my mind, my hope. Is it wrong?:(
Yes, I know they're NATO stuffs at most. But this is the only way I know.
If only those PBSI officials knew this site and read my/our comments.
Just like those demonstrators voicing their demands, hoping that those higher-ups will hear their voice. Do they have the power to change things directly?
I presume what you mean by 'strengthening the MS department of INA badminton' is something like becoming a full-fledged badminton player or becoming a PBSI official...
Indirectly...
You can help me by telling me, a young, not-so-patriotic Indonesian, an example of what I should do...
Perhaps, rushing to PBSI head office and kick those blind, incompetent officials' butts?:) Or organize a movement to oust them?;)
For now?
Keep being a good INA fan and support our team and players, regardless of the eventual result. Many pro players don't just play for money, but for the appreciation of the fans despite glory and defeats.
Keep playing amateur badminton, thus keeping the game alive at the local grassroot level.
Get your friends to play too... ;) The more the better.
Play against other badminton clubs / group of friends.
Participate in local tournaments if you have time. :) Ask your friends to join too. It's fun.The things I listed above are the very foundation of INA badminton at its zenith. These building blocks are now crumbling in many provinces and counties. Many in PBSI management does not understand / just choose to ignore the foundations of foundations... :(
Despite the ignorance and blind misperceptions of some PBSI officials, we as fans should not look the other way whenever there are obstacles. That's not true love! Whoever truly loves INA badminton, should not ignore what's fundamental for INA badminton. Being an active amateur and fan is a contribution. Participating in organizing local badminton tournaments would be even better. :)
Here's how the INA badminton positive cycle works:
When the grassroot badminton movement is huge, the badminton business itself will be huge.
When the badminton business is huge, the prize money, sponsorship, public attention, fan adulation will all be huge.
When the prize money, sponsorship, attention, and adulation are huge, more talented youngsters will choose badminton as an occupation/career and really want deliver glory [for INA, for himself, for fans, for the sponsors, etc.] and many parents will be supportive [unlike now].
When many talented youngsters step forward and fully supported by their parents, we are bound to see many big-time winners from INA... [just like in the 1970s]If the grassroot level [step 1] is not strong, then we shall see step 2, 3, 4 crumbling... :o
To some extent, I've done all 5 things you told me to do, Sire. Including taking part in some tournaments (please don't ask the result:p).
I'll be more than happy if you can tell me more.:)

This comment that respond directly to my comments irritate me... It implies that I just sit back and relax and have that kind of mindset. I happen to love INA and INA badminton a lot. So much that I am doing a lot of things and invest a lot of funds, time, and energy for it. I'm a practicioner of "ask not what your country can do for you, ...ask what you can do for your country"...
Directly? I'm afraid, still none.

Demonstrations are [for the most part] inferior tactics... Dialogue is more effective. But you have to be someone credible to even be invited to a relevant dialogue... In order to be taken seriously, I suggest that you keep building up your credibility in INA badminton.
Indirectly...
To some extent, I've done all 5 things you told me to do, Sire. Including taking part in some tournaments (please don't ask the result:p).
I'll be more than happy if you can tell me more.:)
I don't know how young you are... so if you're still in school... go study well until you're very well educated... Sharpen your mind and enhance your skill so that you will not be a loser in life. If you've started working, then work well...
My point is: be a productive INA citizen ...who have time and funds to spare for badminton... if you're poor, you're not very useful for INA badminton development. :o Any form of money you spend for shuttlecock, shoes, rackets, court-rental, coaching-fees, etc. are helpful for the overall INA badminton business growth. [I see this as directly helping INA badminton]
If the INA badminton business is strong, the sponsorship and prize money will be bigger and more future very talented players will be attracted to become an excellent badminton player [because the rewards are bigger]... Without enough money, the future potential stars won't choose badminton as a career, and thus we loose more opportunity to see great INA MS players etc...
We can't blame anyone for wanting a brighter tomorrow... our first task, in my opinion, is to ensure our own bright future, if we're well on our way to the right direction, then we can [directly or indirectly] bring others to also have a bright future...

Yep, that's true.
It's just that, I always dislike this kind of approach to respond things.
Just because other countries have the same MS roster for years, then can relax?
It's no different with:
Son : Mum, sorry. I got E for Math.
Mum: What?!
