"yo, Lin Dan, let me check ur racket to make sure it is legal, alright?" jamesd20 08-15-2008, 03:48 AM Li Jia Wei facing a defensive player from KOR. quite interesting. I think I watched her when I was in China.....is she the one that always hits the ball beneath the table height? I am watching the Sailing....no wind delayed start, but racing now. Qingdao looks nice. robin7 08-15-2008, 04:44 AM watching women's team event Susilo ex-gf playing. if TT can have team competition, how come badminton cannot? They just replaced the doubles events in TT by the team events. They only offer 4 golds in WS, MS, WT and MT. Fijitu 08-15-2008, 05:02 AM singapore leading 2-1 in women team semi-final interesting how the players can examine each other's paddles before the game. "yo, Lin Dan, let me check ur racket to make sure it is legal, alright?" its so the players know what kind of rubber, texture, and color is on the paddle. that way they can anticipate what kind of spin is on the ball, depending on what colored side the opponent strikes the ball. jamesd20 08-15-2008, 05:04 AM its so the players know what kind of rubber, texture, and color is on the paddle. that way they can anticipate what kind of spin is on the ball, depending on what colored side the opponent strikes the ball. Kwuns point though was why are they allowed to do that. You don't see LCW checking LCW racket to see he has Bg 80 at 32lbs today, mm maybe he will play with more control! jamesd20 08-15-2008, 05:22 AM Wow Singapore beat South Korea..............is that expected? Guaranteed a medal, only the second medal in their history (since 1960). They will play china or HK (China!) in the final. **KZ** 08-15-2008, 09:11 AM so it's china vs china in the team final? jamesd20 08-15-2008, 09:25 AM so it's china vs china in the team final? No Singapore Vs China China Bt HK 3-0 in final jamesd20 08-15-2008, 09:30 AM so it's china vs china in the team final? I see yr point now.........I am bit slow **KZ** 08-15-2008, 09:47 AM I see yr point now.........I am bit slow yeah u were....:) jamesd20 08-15-2008, 10:57 AM So, any team orders here then?:) kwun 08-16-2008, 01:11 AM congrats SINGAPORE for winning their first Olympic medal since 1960! Singapore is guaranteed a silver and they will fight for the gold against China. Felix. 08-16-2008, 01:16 AM And the sad thing is none of the players are Singapore-born. Congrats though. jimbo 08-17-2008, 10:52 AM Congrats to SG team... a SILVER is well deserved... Glad that they beat S.Korea but no match to the mighty CHN team... congrats for the SILVEr... :) tenggk 08-18-2008, 09:36 PM Is there any website for me to download the table tennis clips? kwun 08-21-2008, 09:31 PM Li Jia Wei vs. Zhang Yining now. another chance for SIN to get a medal. robin7 08-22-2008, 08:32 AM CHN WS made a clean sweep with Zhang Yining having successfully defended her title, Wang Nan winning silver and Guo Yue getting bronze. hcpoirot 08-23-2008, 06:30 PM Same as the women side, Chinese men also won gold in team event, and won all gold, silver and bronze in men single. If they got men double plus women double in htis event, China will surely win too cause in team event, they never lost in double routines. CLELY 08-25-2008, 12:27 AM As predicted earlier, CHN mission to do clean sweep table-tennis gold has accomplished even they bagged one set medal at individual event. Looks like no any country could disrupt CHN domination in this sport for long-term. ctjcad 08-25-2008, 04:02 AM .. if one noticed a kinda funny thing. We all realize CHN has totally dominated, literally, this table tennis event, yet it is not being pulled out of the next OG. The U.S. has dominated softball, until this yr, yet it is being pulled out of the next OG. *Some critics mentioned the reason for those 2 sports being pulled out is because the IOC & its president thought that baseball and softball are too American. lilywhite 08-26-2008, 04:00 PM really? I thought the reason softball/baseball is being pulled is because of the drug scandals. No drug scandal that I've heard of so far in table tennis  Go Chinese table tennis team! They worked hard for it! Utter domination finally achieved for the Chinese "national ball"! tonyget 08-28-2008, 12:29 AM .. if one noticed a kinda funny thing. Baseball only popular in North America and 3 Asian nations(JAP, KOR, TW). Table tennis dominated by CHN, but it's also very popular in rest of Asia and Europe. ctjcad 08-28-2008, 06:40 AM ..but i was inferring to CLELY's comment about CHN's "domination" (to an extent some of their ex-pats players playing for other countries) in table tennis in comparison to U.S.' "domination" (until this yr) in softball; yes, both baseball & softball, i think have only a few countries actually competing in it as i think we can count them all with our 10 fingers, each one respectively.;) Should we expect any other countries other than CHN to dominate table tennis in the future?? .. |
