Hello,
I am a Chinese and came to BKK in June. I love to play badminton and have been playing over 10yrs. Though I have not played for a couple of years, I really want back to court.
I don't know much people here in Bangkok. Could you list some places to play? I live around Soi 20 of Sukhumvit. Any court close by? partners?
email me at tigerplayer@live.com. Have some fun in weekend.
Thanks in advance for your information.

Hi,

From what I know, there's no badminton courts around the Sukhumvit 20 area - I live on Sukhumvit 21 by the way.. The closest court that I play at is at Lumphini (Wednesday 8pm to 11pm). I also play in Rhachayothin and Bangna sometimes too.

Let me know if you're interested in joining, if not, good luck with your search!

Cheers,
Anna

Him Anna,
Can you tell me detail about the court such as location, direction? Is Lumphini court close to skytrain? How about membership?
email me at tigerplayer@live.com, or call me 089 042 7878
Thank you.

Hi,

Still didn't get your name but got your number! :) There's no membership requirements in any of the places that I play, you just have to show up with your rackets and pay for it when you're done. You'll get to meet and play with different people that is within the group.

Information of location is as follows:
Monday 8pm to 11pm - Rachayothin (Mit Sena Court)- Sena 1 - after turning into Sena 1, make a right into the smaller soi (soi 2), go towards the end, the badminton court is on your right.

Wednesday 8pm to 11pm - Lumphini (Don't remember the name of the court) - The court is right next to Lumphini park on Wireless Road - at the intersection between Sarasin Road and Wireless Road. There's a police station somewhere opposite the court while Suan Lum Night Bazaar is next to the police station. Note: The court is quite hard to be spotted at night.

Friday 8pm to 11pm - Mit sena court - same direction as the above.

You can email me at annachin84@yahoo.com if you need further instructions.

Cheers,
Anna

I got your email and I already replied it to you. :)
But again here....

You place is in the Mid-town of Bangkok. Our court is not quite near BTS station, but I can recommend you to take BTS to National Stadium and the take a TAXI instead.
Our team plays twice a week ... on WED and SAT from 20.00-02.00 or a bit late.
I recommend you to take taxi to CENTRAL PIN-KLAO DEPARTMENTSTORE , so I can pick you up from there to MY HOUSE 1 court (about 5-10 mins depends on the traffic).
Do you have cellphone while you are in Bangkok ??? if yes, you can contact me when you arrive at CENTRAL PIN-KLAO Dept.
On the way back to your place from MY HOUSE 1 court, the taxi fair will be around 130 Bahts.
Anyway I hope to hear from you soon. And we will stop playing on SAT 28th March because our team will have a league competition
on the weekend. At the court, there are shower rooms for you. Just bring lots of shirts if you may need because it's quite hot this time.
Let me know when is your convenient day, OK?

Hi...Grayson, I just play Badminton in Intermediate Level, not in Advanced Level http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/images/icons/icon7.gif
Hope you can join us when good time comes. So far I havent logged in MSN for years. You may PM or Send me Email me :D.
The court I played with Sudket is not the My House 1 court, it's at Nareth Court. At Saturn, there are many players play much better than me.
And the great thing is they are so friendly here ! http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif

I was told about SATURN club by one of my friend, said that i should give it a try. Looking at the pics, i can tell how friendly Thai players are. Too bad i never had a chance to visit there yet. Although i've been living in Thailand for almost 8 years, play badminton for 10 years, but my skills ain't seemed to improve much.

Anyway, i'm still a college student in MuakLek - Saraburi. Not much players i can play with, especially in small town - Muaklek.

By the way, the following question might not be placed in appropriate threads but i really need a help from you all, especially those reside in Bangkok area and have experience about what rackets and where to buy..

I'm planning on getting myself badminton racket Kumpoo PowerShot P830 or PowerShot P800. The retail prices of those two are Bt 3,850 but shop nearby BTS Promphong prices them at Bt 2,600 each. (anyone know cheaper places that this?)

My question is, has anyone ever used Kumpoo PowerShot P830 & P800 (people told me and i read on the product description that these two rackets can be strung to maximum 40lbs!). Please tell me what are the differences between those two (which one is good for offensive play or defensive play?) Or should i be getting myself a Kumpoo Nano Hexagon 2300 just like what Bonsaak.P uses?

Anyway, i'm a double-type player, prefer to go for offensive and technique plays, jumping smash for most of the duration of games, i hardly consider myself even as intermediate player (3/7).

Thank you in advanced!

Actually, I myself never use KumPoo Racket before, so I called to my team mate who uses KumPoo. So, I got some information to you.
P 800 is all around racket , easy to control, Medium Balance.
P 830 is good for offensive player, head of racket is a bit heavy.
Nano Hexagon 2300 is quite difficult to control for intermediate player or beginner.
Anyway, it's better to try before you buy one. I tried it once... ummm...it's just OK. to me. I still stick with Yonex Ti-10 ( Yellow - White ).
About the price 2,600 Bhts. is fair price, but if you live in BKK, you can buy at 2,500 Bhts. without paying shipping cost.

I just bought Kumpoo Hexagon 2300 at price of THB 3850, shop opposite of Emporium plaza. I wanted to buy P830 as well but my budget was short.

Hi...ty,

Now I see, it's your last semester before graduation. Sure.. we will have chances to play Badminton in Bangkok. SATURN players play at MY HOUSE 1 court near Central Pin-Klao Departmentstore, so there are 2 hotels located near the court.
1. SD Avenue Hotel
2. Royal City Hotel
But you this area , it's easy to find a rental room open 24 hrs. in cheaper.

Hi Mr. Anek,

I bought my Hexagon 2300 at that shop, but it is more like Kumpoo official dealer, instead of maibadlukbad. They do not sell any other rackets but Kumpoo only. Well, i tried my Hexagon2300 last night at TPI Cement Factory nearby Muak Lek. All i can say is the racket is mush lighter than my previous DART Concave Speed 3000. I was kinda expecting it would've been heavier-head as i could generate more power while smashing. But to my surprise, the hitting sound is great (BG66-25lbs), and the control is excellent. Still can't get used to drop-shot yet tough.

I saw ur current pictures celebration and those various games made form badminton stuff. I can only say, SATURN is truly innovative! I've never even thought of creating new games using badminton stuff. I wonder, how would you play single-paired-player whom happen to use right-handed??.. or should they be paired on basis of right-left-handed players?

One more doubt, i see the prize has Ling Ni brand on it. All i know it is a chinese brand, sponsored all Chinese team players. Originally i was gonna buy that brand in Thailand but i gave up cuz lack of information. Do you have any idea where to buy those Ling Ni brand?

Hi..afrandy ( is your name Andy ? )
It's good that you are happy with your new Kumpoo Racket.
The shop you bought is Official Dealer of Kumpoo. http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/images/icons/icon7.gif

About the game in pair, all players are right hand adroit. So, one player must hit with his or her left-hand. http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/images/icons/icon12.gif Even the advanced player looked funny. :D

About Li Ning Brand... I asked my friend buy it from China. But I am sure that in Thai badminton website, there are few people sell Li Ning stuffs via that website. The racket is quite expensive. I am now own one N50 Li Ning Racket.

Where are you originally from anyway ?

The Kumpoo shop used to be mybadlookbad.com until the boss decide to focus on Kumpoo only.

Anyway, seems like you like the Kumpoo ? It is quite a good racquet, different from the others in terms of feel.

Wow! I think you have enough Ti10 to last a life time. :)

I hope so. Now it's difficult to get YONEX Ti-10 ( Yellow-White model ) in Thailand. I bought them from Hong Kong and Singapore. ;)

Should be between 4000 - 4200 baht. Prices fluctuates due to the currency.

Yonex high end racquets are very good buy in Bangkok, probably the best price in the world !

Personally, I have bought NS9900, AT900T, Ti10 and AT600 from Bangkok and other than the TH code, I don't see any difference with SP coded racquets.

Actually, I keep buying Ti-10 because they are all great rackets to me.
I decided to buy only Singapore Version (SP) or Indonesia (IP). In Thailand, Ti-10 TH (Yellow-White) now sold out. Most shops carry Ti-10 TH ( Purple ) only. But I feel Ti-10 Purple has lighter weight compared to Ti-10 Yellow-White.
Actually, I never buy Ti-10 TH at all. I bought them from Singapore and Hong Kong.
Ti-10 not easily broken. Just because I play quite often and there are more chances to crack it. http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/images/icons/icon7.gif

From my experience, I can more or less tell which countries has the best price for a certain brand.

You don't have to carry any racquets to Bangkok.

Just pop down to Sports Marketing and grab a high end Yonex and you can use it immediately ! Kill two birds with one stone !

The downside to this is that you end up with alot of racquets like I do :crying:

But you are looking to get the Arc10 anyway.

But try not to miss it next year. Racket prices in Japan is more expensive than Bangkok prices. But you will pay extra for JP quality. I love Yonex Very Cool shirts and pants. Yes, I 've been using Ti-10 (Yellow-White) for 2 years.
And I feel confident with this model. Too bad, I've never tried other models you mentioned about. I heard yonex alrealy launched ARC Z in Japan.
But no one in Thailand has a try yet. May be soon! :)

Take the BTS to National stadium and then take the stairs to the street level.

Walk in the direction of the traffic for around 450 metre, you will pass by National Stadium on your left.

There is a lane on the left and directly opposite is TESCO. Just turn left into the lane and walk for another 80 metre or so. You will see sports marketing and first sports, they are side by side.

The 2 days I was in Tokyo, it rained everyday ! The only cool thing I did was to have dinner at this restaurant in Roppongi where Quentin Tarantino took inspiration from and built a set to filmed the fight scene in Kill Bill.

I am still in Osaka now and will head to Kobe City tomorrow to attend a friend's wedding. It rained today and spoilt my plan to go to Osaka Castle so end up just go to Osaka National Museum and also Shinsaibashi for shopping.

I am not good enough to play for Saturn, there are so many good players in your team, in fact the young girls in your team are stronger than me !

Soon, you may meet TEOKY from Singapore too. Then, we all can play together. http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif

Ya, back to Singapore ! So humid here compare to Japan.

I am thinking of bring the Zelm racquets so that you guys can test it and if you guys like it, I can help you guys get it from Singapore.

The new Zelm Trixon 8 is impressive ! It is unbelievable but when we did a racquet comparison, the smashes coming out from the Zelm racquets are harder compare to other racquets. Of course this could be because my friend is used to the Zelm.

Yes, I can help you get the shirt, I think I saw it at the Li Ning store but I don't think they have the "China" wording at the back though, is that ok ?

If I remember correctly, the price is also quite expensive, should be more than S$100+, is that ok ? I know that you can afford it but just need to let you know.

Crazy ! You now have 23 x Ti10 ! Are you sure you need so many ? :p

No worry about the CHINA and the prices. That's OK. ;)
And I am not sure about the size XL, some say I may need XXL
instead of XL because Li Ning shirt size usually smaller than normal size.
Ex. L---> M , XL---> L, XXL--->XL
So, I probably need you help to see for the actual size of XXL or XL.
Normally my shirt size is XL.

I have not tried Li Ning shirts before but I feel that even the Small is still pretty big. If I remember correctly, their size goes by height so Small is 165cm and Medium is 170cm etc. I will go to the shop and find out more and will sms you.

Anek, I was at a local store ('10 & 10') and had a look at the black and yellow tops which you are looking for. 'China' is imprinted on the jerseys but they cost S$189.90 each  Not sure if the store will give any discounts.

I think XL should fit you but bear in mind the tops are 'tight-fitting'. :)

Thanks Bro for the update ! I went to Ion and they don't have the shirt anymore and I was thinking of going to Mustafa to check out. Slipped my mind that 10&10 sells Li Ning also.

Tight fitting should be good for P'A as he got a hot bod ! :D

Ha ha ha, then the gals will drool when they see you !

One thing to know is that the material for the shirt is quite thin and when you sweat, it does stick to the body.
