I have to agree with his usual predicition in this tournament, as I believe that LCW has what it takes to win this major tournament in Penang and forever be remembered as a badminton legend.:cool:

As already established in earlier 2 pages, LCW will be skipping this tournament.

And since Proton, the sponsor for the local circuit & is one of the major sponsors of BAM players, they are normally required(compulsory) to participate in the local circuit, hence the appearance of the other senior players/pairs. But looks like some of the players who went OG have opted out to prepare for Japan Open.

and... major tournament in local circuit is National Grand Prix Finals

Plus I think Malaysia will do better than what X Ball always expect(2 golds) from this tournament, I am expecting a clean sweep by Malaysia this time.:cool:

MD - KKK/TBH
WS - WMC
WD - Malaysia
XD - Malaysia

Sorry, I think FAIRUZIZUAN/ZAKRY or CTK/LWW will win in MD.

His "home crowd" did not consider the OG silver medal, the only medal Msia won this OG, a "horrific loss" ;);):D. All participants are Msians, they no need chant Msia Boleh.
The WD, WPT/CEH are also skipping this tourney it seems.
MD... Fuzzy pair may just win it, not KKK/TBH if it's still KKK with TBH :D

CONFIRMED VENUE AT Bkt Dumbar, Penang :) One of my fren will be the linesman there ... i think frm wed til sat. In fact he just had dinner wif all the players just now ... damn lucky him

I wanted to be the mop lady tho... hahaha ... but too shy :p

Dropped by for abt 10 minutes before going off for my classes. They didn't even update the draw yet, I still see CHong wei, mew choo's name and other players who pulled out in the draw pasted in the arena! :eek: Managed to catch a glimpse of many juniors, and also Kuan Beng Hong. Since I was rushing, I only managed to have a quick snap at the entrance.

I shall return there tmr

Just back frm watching some of the interesting matches at Bkt Dumbar. Its really hot and boiling inside :( There were upset tho

There is one thing that caught so many spectators eyes ... KKK n TBH never really communicate or jokes together. They joke around wif other team mates and KKK just sat all by himself on the bench away frm the team mates.

Maybe I'll dwnload in youtube much later, just for viewing only on what Im trying to explain :p

Slowly taking his time, drinking water without permission, got warned by the umpire for a few times. it was really a pity that he really ran out of gas in the third set already that's why they lost so easilly. CCM/CCE targeted him most of the shots and forced Mak Hee Chun to smash.

Erin! So sorry I didn't take much of the MJs pix! Most of the afternoon I was watching at CCM/CCE's match which took quite long to finish! In the morning there were lots of MJs but since I went there alone in the morning :( , I didn't take any pictures at all!! It's so hard to secretly take pictures of someone ;)

Slowly taking his time, drinking water without permission, got warned by the umpire for a few times. it was really a pity that he really ran out of gas in the third set already that's why they lost so easilly. CCM/CCE targeted him most of the shots and forced Mak Hee Chun to smash.

oh i see...so...this causes to lost in xd two hours later...hmmp...wonder what mhc do before the match...hmmp...hope coach team improve his stamina...hope mhc and teo kok siang can win us a title this year on wjc...

and altho Stadium Putra has better parking facility, i still prefer the smallness of Stadium Badminton Cheras :p

Semi for MD:
CCM/CCE v Chan Peng Soon/Lim Khim Wah (they upset Teik Chai/WoonFui)
KKK/TBH v Khoo CHung Chiat/Tan Bin Shen (who upset Fairuz/Zakry)

In the QF, it was a close fight between KKK/TBH and WeeKiong/Razif. I was wondering if KKK/TBH were to lose, it will (again) spur up the BAM's and NSC's decision to split them up!!

Anyhow, KKK will be playing 4 matches all together for today, both in mxd and md in semi and quarter. It should be quite taxing for him

Yeah, it was very obvious. Even when playing, KKK seemed to communicate with his mixed partner more than TBH. Maybe TBH/KKK already "understood" each other's movement :confused:

yaya ;) u r rit ... if u noe Pg Chinese Swimming Club, its just near there ... the hotel which u can see frm roadside or mainroad, at the back is the beaches

cant really recall but i think that hotel had changed name many times. last time i think call park inn or something

hahahaha :D that is so true ... only one entrance ... after going up the stairs, the entrance to the hall ... to the rit is where spectators going in to take a sit and to the rit is where the players hang out or warming up or warming down or getting ready for the match n etc
its so easy to get to the players ... they are around everywhere cos due to space constraint and supporters wil just bump into them all the time :D also, the players like to sit outside the badminton hall near the staircase cos have some windows n more airer ... pity them also :p

its good for us tho ... hehehe ... so easy to get thru them anytime and a click of one photo can see the whole group there ... hahaha

Went to watch the MD QF Session this morning

Lim Khim Wah/Chan PS were the local favourites. Most of the crowds cheered for them during their match against GTC/LWF. They are quite balanced pair - tactically defense & offense wise. I was told they will be a permanent pair for future.
It was an exciting match between KKK/TBH & Razif/WeeKiong. All pairs going all out attack relentlessly from the begining. In the end, Ko/Tan won with their experince & manage to hold on the match point
I was not surprise by the defear of Fuzzy pair, they usually not performing well in local circuit. KKC will be another rising star to watch for. He played above his level in this match.
Uncle Chan/Chew looked too strong for the juniors pair. Even though they trailed badly at one point in 2nd games, never saw any nerves from their gestures.

Dint watched any Div 2, most of the players i cant even recognized.(Some of them just wear a plain t-shirt w.o any name printed behind) But I did noticed some junior WD were playing quite good games.

KKK actually quite suitable to be paired up with Hui Lin. The gal just need to do some net shots and KKK with his usual superman acts will cover her up & downs;) I think Weekiong/KheWei will be in trouble :cool:

Okey, dokey, Winners of Penang Open, Division 1 :

1) MS : Roslin Hashim (from Nusa M) beat Hafiz, 21-9 18-21 21-12
2) XD : KKK/Hui Lin beat TWK/WKW in 2 sets, 21-15 24-22
3) WS : Julia Wong beat Tee Jing Yi in 2 sets, 21-10 21-10
4) WD : Fong/Mooi (from KLRC) beat CEH/Sook Chin, 15-21 22-20 21-3
5) MD : KKK/TBH beat CCM/CCE (from Victor), 21-18 18-21 21-8

Wow, WD in rubber was 21-3, wonder if CEH or Sook Chin injured.
I only managed to watch XD till half of 2nd set, KKK/Hui Lin, though 1st time paired up, showed the difference in tactical & experience (on the part of KKK).
Me agree with Samuel that hui lin is suitable partner for KKK in XD compare to Liu Ying (ABC Champs in April).

Division 2 MD FInals were on tv court, I'm not familiar with our juniors, they're an interesting watch though.

RTM 1 stopped live broadcast when it was MD finals. RTM would normally show the recorded version 3 to 4 weeks later, at midnite.

1st,chan peng soon/ lim khim wah,as expected before the game start...they perform well...upset two senior pairs...
2nd,khoo chung chiat/tan bin shen...upset the favourite of many ppl(zakry/fairuz),and a good fight with the winner...
3rd,chan/chew...manage to safe themself for junior threat...all junior give them hard time...and they manage to go through to final....and finally,lost to koo/tan
4th,mak hee chun/teo kok siang,tan wee kiong/razif...both almost create upset to beat the finalist...:D...

the best of the best in division 1...
KOO KIEN KIAT...superbly...8 match in 3 days...and two title in bag...many says they not perform well...but then,kcc/tbs and twk/razif will be the rising star in near future...no shame for won in 3 close sets in both matches...:D

Notice the walk over in the Division 2 Vee Vian/Yvonne over Florah Ng/Nurhani. The reason being Florah Ng/Nurhani didn't have the same attire. SUch a waste to get disqualifed just like that

Yeah, in fact I heard lots of "Boos" from the supporters. I only heard from my linesmen friend abt the reason after everything has ended. I suspect the same for CCM/CCE too because from my far observation, before their final match, CCM and CCE were at the registration counter for quite some time. And then CCM had to run all the way down to his car (which I assume is to get t shirt). CCE later changed his t shirt as well.

Shirt controversy mars Koo-Tan win

GEORGE TOWN: National number two Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong bagged the Proton Penang Open Badminton Championships men’s doubles title after defeating veterans Chan Chong Ming-Chew Choon Eng 21-18, 18-21, 21-8 at the Penang BA Badminton Hall in Bukit Dumbar yesterday.
But it was a shirt controversy prior to their Division 1 men’s doubles final which stole the limelight on the final day of the competition.
The match almost did not take place due to Chong Ming (in blue) and Choon Eng (green) appearing in different coloured shirts.
Tournament referee Loh Meng Kiang insisted that the pair must wear the same colour on the court or forfeit the match.

The matter was settled after a 15-minute delay when Chong Ming dashed to his car and returned with a wet green shirt, which he had worn for the semi-finals on Friday night.

Both players were clearly in discomfort throughout the match as they did not have any shirts to change.

“Being unable to change shirts clearly restricted our movement on the court. My shirt was soaked, with sweat dripping all over the place ... I could hardly move properly,” said Choon Eng.

The shuttlers had to play three matches in 24 hours. They featured in the quarter-finals on Friday morning, the semi-finals on the same night and the final yesterday morning.

The shirt controversy also affected the Division 2 women’s doubles final between Chong Vee Vian-Yvonne Ong and Florah Ng-Nurhani Aziz.
Florah and Nurhani had to concede a walkover to their Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS) team-mates as their shirts did not have their names printed on the back.

The pair’s appeal to scribble their names on the back of their shirts also proved unsuccessful.

But the tournament organisers were also guilty of inconsistency as they allowed Malacca’s Syed Akbar Shah to play without his name on his shirt during the Division 2 men’s singles semi-finals on Friday and with his name written with a black marker pen for the final yesterday.

Meanwhile, the biggest winner in the Penang Open was Kien Keat, who also went on to bag the mixed doubles title with Ng Hui Lin.

After ousting top seeds Mohd Razif Latif-Chong Sook Chin in the semi-finals, Kien Keat-Hui Lin went on to defeat second seeds Tan Wee Kiong-Woon Khe Wei 21-15, 22-20 in the final.

In the women’s doubles, Chin Eei Hui, whose usual partner Wong Pei Tty was forced to skip the tournament to attend to family matters, linked up with Sook Chin but they succumbed to second seeds Fong Chew Yen-Mooi Hing Yau 21-15, 20-22, 3-21 in the final.

In the all-BJSS Division 2 mixed doubles final, second seeds Ow Yao Han-Ong Boon Hui beat Pang Zhen Lin-Chong Vee Vian 21-14, 21-12.

From some of the photos posted by mirrura, we could see that, in some Doubles matches, all 4 players were wearing the some colour. And from one photo, we could see that partners of a Doubles pair were wearing different colours.

:D:D:D Our players must have entered this tournament without their Coaches/Managers.

Usually, it's their Coaches/Managers who look after these matters: such as attires, schedules, meals, etc...

CCM was clearly affected by his soaked shirts. During the match, he need to go off courts for several times js to dry off his wet pants.

Actually, I thought I did read somewhere before that it's the standard rules that both doubles partners HAVE to wear the same t shirt in a match. I tried to find the rules in BWF website but to no avail. Can someone clarify this?

Roslin shows why he is still one of the best old horses by displaying some great defensice shots.
HH, still the normal himself, lack of determination & fighting spirit to win at all. this was clearly shown at the rubber set.
Sad but truth, the hashim subblings still a class above the all the MJs.

With the vast experince of KKK in MD, he were simply too good TWK/NKW. I would say this match rather won almost by KKK himslf .During the last few points, he was shouted loudly during releasing his smash , probably tried to scared of their opponents. however, Ng Hui Lin is quite good in defense, she is a talented XD player. The only problem is her lack of self confidence sometimes.
Overall, KheWei played a quite good games. WeeKiong is the one who making the most unforced errors among four players on court.

Most anticipated match by the locals crowd. It was marred by the controvesial of shirts issues for CCE/CCM. At one point , I thought the match will be cancelled :rolleyes:
The officials really trying to show off their powers by interrupting on CCM.CCE shirts:rolleyes: :mad:
I still dont see any improvement on KKK/TBH games. they played more worst compare with the OG match against the eventually GOLD medal winner.:o
CCE/CCM looked quite solid in their defense but lack of speed/power to kill off the rallies.
Again, KKK were quite consistent compare with TBH. However, he is still trying to save the shuttles in TBH area a couple of times :rolleyes: . And yet, no communication between them whether on or off courts.
