If you are talking about the soles i wash them after each session. If you are talking about the whole shoe then i never do it.

Yea, I might get some sport shoes when I go to Seattle this weekend. Looking for sport shoes that look good and are good for badminton.

You can try looking at Yonex shoes and when you find the right size buy it from online shops because it will be much cheaper.

My parents won't let me buy online though, unless I can convince them.

i just air them after each session, and replace them when they get really torn/dirty.

Well not actually running shoes. They are like flat adidas superstar shoes.
I used to wear by pair of Nike Dunks last year to play badminton, they had superb grip but they got really wasted after playing badminton. I'd rather keep them looking 'cool'.

a word of warning, don't wash the rubber sole with soap, it ruins the grip, not sure what the reason is but after giving my yonex a complete 'snow wash' with detergent years ago, they lost all the grip, seems like the rubber hardened from the wash.

Did you use cold or hot water? Cold water hardens the rubber while hot water makes it softer.

Never wash my shoes. Just wipe it with dry clothe (a bit of wet also ok).
Then put them in open air after using it.

lol exactly what happened to me:p but with basketball shoes,ankle still hurts. going to buy badminton shoes this weekend :D

Is there a special way to clean the sole of the shoes because I usually put some water from the sink to clean it and after I just wipe the water with a dry cloth even if there is still water between the cracks. I do about it once a week when I play badminton.

I seldom wash them because, somehow, the consistency of the rubber is destroyed. It's either it becomes softer or it looses the grip. I also use toothbrsuh to clean the dirt/small rocks stuck in between the spaces of the gum sole.

1/2 spoon soup powder, throw into washing machine & press 'Start'. Tumbling/Spinning is excluded. Come out as good as new. Hang Dried.

After washing to rinsing,remove the shoe right after water has flowed out before into spinning. Do not wash so often ! till unbearable only throw into machine, laces have to be removed. Hahahaha.

Hand washed still the best, anyway............

i had my YY shoes hand washed once (the only one thousand and 1 times) and which made me so remorseful of what i have done in my life...

I didn't use to wash shoes but I started as I realized I never wear them more than a year. This is why cheap is better than expensive. Set the washing machine at 30-40C max. and you can wrap them in a tow if you don't want them to make too much noise inside. Removing the laces is recommended because they will have dirt marks where the holes are. Just throw them inside with the trainers. I've done it with dryer and without. They look like new and the glue seems to stay together so no hassle.

The toothbrush is also top hint. I use that when I want clean and don't have time to wash and wait to dry.

I guess the shoe & outsole split into two ! Very bad luck ! Use soft-middle brush is ok, were you using barb wire to scrub ?!?!?
