I hope they send Arif and Tan Chun Seang. Let's see how MAS' MS of the future perform versus INA's MS of the future... ;) Hope Japan will also send Kenichi Tago for more additional competition... :D China might resend Lu Yi and add Chen Long too... Chen is their future star, said Coach Tang Xianhu...
badMania 09-04-2008, 08:49 PM Besides PB Djarum's players, I saw that Rio Willianto is also in the list of players, but, did not see his partner's name  Also saw Endra Kurniawan's name.

Thanks! :D
I see there are no Chinese, Malaysian, Korean players this year... :) I see many Germans, Dutch players ....and some Danes, Indians, Belgians, and Russians. So then... there is more chance for INA to win some... ;) Too bad Pelatnas [the INA National team] won't send any players to make the party more fun... :p
Note: there is a Zhang Yi from Sweden... She sure doesn't sound Swedish... She should be Zan Yinnassonn... :p
giant 09-05-2008, 09:48 AM haha..maybe is china ppl..

badMania 09-06-2008, 09:45 AM So then... there is more chance for INA to win some... ;) Too bad Pelatnas [the INA National team] won't send any players to make the party more fun... :p
Yup...it's unfortunate that those ppl at Pelatnas could not make a better planning of tourneys for the second-team to compete in. Most of them end up not winning titles, unlike Djarum players.
Imagine if they send Bona/Ahsan, Grace/Nitya, and Tantowi/Yulianti (IMHO the 3 most promising young doubles pairs) to the Bitburger and Dutch Open...at least they will come back with a higher chance of winning one or even both events. Now, they have to face tough fights against top pairs starting from R32 in the CT Open GP Gold and Japan Super Series.

I can never understand the frame of mind of prioritizing the sending half-baked players/pairs to tough tournaments... I think half-baked players/pairs should gain confidence and learn to enjoy winning in International Challenge and GP tournaments... These middle-tier tournaments should be the priority while tough tournaments like Super Series and GP Golds should be complementary options...
It is also confirmed that INA Pelatnas players won't go to Bulgaria Open either... :( Dutch Open is still possible and the deadline has not arrived yet...
badMania 09-06-2008, 07:45 PM It is also confirmed that INA Pelatnas players won't go to Bulgaria Open either... :( Dutch Open is still possible and the deadline has not arrived yet...
The Dutch Open has been a tourney that Pelatnas 2nd-string players are usually sent to (like Edo/Lingga, Adi/Syahmie, etc). But sending them to Dutch Open and not sending them to the other tourney will seem to be a complete waste of money in terms of a useful European tour for these players.

Edo-Lingga etc. should just be sent to Malaysia, Brunei, & India International Series/Challenge... Let them win something first... Let them build confidence...
huangkwokhau 09-07-2008, 12:18 PM Edo-Lingga etc. should just be sent to Malaysia, Brunei, & India International Series/Challenge... Let them win something first... Let them build confidence...
but Edo/Lingga has won some series, right?

Sending them to Macau Open is cheaper and visa is no needed.....;)
I think it is necessary to send more 2nd tier to lower GP...I agree
Krisna 09-08-2008, 12:13 AM but Edo/Lingga has won some series, right?
You're right, Edo-Lingga have won the Singapore International Series and Thailand International Series... :D I forgot... :p Oh well, then they have to start winning International Challenge titles then... After that, GPs...
Krisna 09-09-2008, 06:29 AM Hmm... looking at the list of MD pairs, I expect the seeding should be:
#1 Boe-Mogensen
#2 Hopp-Kindervater
#3 Fran-Rendra
#4 Fuchs-Spitko
Krisna 09-09-2008, 12:38 PM If I'm not mistaken... from the list of players in:
WD seeding
#1 Mel-Shendy :cool::cool:
#2 Gutta-Kurian
#3 Van Dooremalen-Van Custen
#4 Nielsen-Roepke
Note: Christina Pedersen is playing but not with normal partner Mie Kristensen
XD seeding
#1 Fran-Shendy [?!? is this right?] [no other pair ranked higher?!?]
#2 Claes-Descamps
Note: Ingo Kindervater is in Bittburger, but no Kathrin Piotrowski around. Joachim Nielsen is there, but no Britta Andersen [did I miss her name anywhere?]...
Krisna 09-09-2008, 12:46 PM MS seeding [as far as I can observe from the list]:
Rank 13 Joachim Persson
Rank 19 Marc Zwiebler
Rank 23 Andre Kurniawan Tedjono
Rank 32 Chetan Anand
Rank 35 Anup Sridhar
Rank 39 Petr Koukal
Rank 40 Ville Lang
Rank 41 Dicky Palyama
Rank 42 Arvind Bhat
WS seeding [maybe]:
Rank 7 Xu Huaiwen
Rank 13 Juliane Schenk
Rank 28 Elizabeth Cann
Rank 35 Ella Diehl
Rank 39 Maria Elfira Christina
Rank 40 Olga Konon
Rank 45 Jeanine Cicognini
Rank 46 Jill Pittard
badMania 09-09-2008, 11:09 PM Hmm... looking at the list of MD pairs, I expect the seeding should be:
#1 Boe-Mogensen
#2 Hopp-Kindervater
#3 Fran-Rendra
#4 Fuchs-Spitko
Tough for Fran/Rendra to win the title here....so, a SF placing should be a good enough target.
Krisna 09-10-2008, 12:30 AM Tough for Fran/Rendra to win the title here....so, a SF placing should be a good enough target.
Yes... go to SF first, then compete well against Hopp-Kindervater or Boe-Mogensen... ;)
Krisna 09-10-2008, 12:39 AM Look at this MS lineup:
Rank 13 Joachim Persson
Rank 19 Marc Zwiebler
Rank 23 Andre Kurniawan Tedjono
Rank 32 Chetan Anand
Rank 35 Anup Sridhar
Rank 39 Petr Koukal
Rank 40 Ville Lang
Rank 41 Dicky Palyama
Rank 42 Arvind Bhat
Rank 44 Kestutis Navickas
Rank 48 Rajiv Ouseph
Rank 51 Ari Yuli Wahyu Hartanto
Rank 52 Scott Evans
Rank 53 Bjoern Joppien
Rank 61 Peter Mikkelsen
Rank 63 Carl Baxter
...really a lineup fit for a GP event... :D A party of top 30-60 MS players... ;) Who is your pick for the MS winner, badMania? Hau-ge? ctjcad? Sandy? taufik-ist? indra? tommy_bun? :D
Andre and Wahyu can play any of these guys well... including Joachim Persson and Marc Zwiebler... Andre have a 1-1 track record against Joachim now... winning convincingly last year in Moscow [Russia Open Gold GP].... Andre also have a 1-1 track record against Chetan Anand... [lost in Spain Challenge, won in France Challenge]
I saw Wahyu in Surabaya a few weeks ago... he appeared to be enjoying his game better.... I think his skills are good enough to win against Joachim too...
badMania 09-10-2008, 02:20 AM I think Andre can win the title in Bitburger....
Krisna 09-10-2008, 05:32 AM I think Andre can win the title in Bitburger....
Yes he can... My prediction, my very unscientific prediction, on their chances of winning the MS title:
Andre 25%
Joachim 24%
Chetan 23%
Marc 20%
Wahyu 5%
Others 3%
:p
CLELY 09-11-2008, 12:28 AM I guess Andre or Joachim will win it, easier to predict WS as Xu Huaiwen is strong fave here.
Krisna 09-11-2008, 03:52 AM I guess Andre or Joachim will win it, easier to predict WS as Xu Huaiwen is strong fave here.
Xu withdrew from the Chinese Taipei Open Gold GP this week...
If Xu is still not fit by the time Bittburger Open started, then... the other competitors' chances of winning the WS titles are:
Julianne 30%
Elizabeth 25%
Ella 10%
Maria Elfira 10%
Olga 10%
Others 15%
Elizabeth Cann is now an experienced player... Very worthy as England's #2...
;)

george@chongwei 09-12-2008, 06:55 AM any paw games for this tournament?:p
Krisna 09-12-2008, 07:11 AM The official seedings are out...
The MS and WS seeds are pretty much as expected... ;)
The WD and XD are also as expected... with Mel-Shendy and Fran-Shendy as the top seeds.
MD is a bit surprising... apparently Hopp and Kindervater split, thus, Fran-Rendra are now the #2 seed... Excellent!
Sandy 09-16-2008, 07:38 PM here is the draw file,
badMania 09-16-2008, 08:06 PM After looking at the draw, Fran/Rendra should have no problems entering the Final, possibly facing Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen.
As for Mel/Shendy and Fran/Shendy, I hope they can win the title, despite some tough Danish opponents in Mia Schjoet-Kristensen/Christinna Pedersen and Joachim Fischer-Nielsen/Christinna Pedersen in the SF.
Krisna 09-18-2008, 10:11 PM I hope they have a livescore feature for this tournament... It is exactly during Lebaran holidays... I have plenty of time to follow badminton... =)

Oh my, I just saw in the updated draw that Joachim Persson withdrew... Wow, cooooollll, then Andre can really win this tournament...
Krisna 10-01-2008, 10:56 AM Fran-Rendra, Andre, Hayom, and Wahyu all defeated their opponents in straight sets in their first appearance in Bittburger Open GP... ;) :D
badMania 10-01-2008, 10:59 AM Not bad....very tiring day today after a night out with my relatives from INA. They are on their Lebaran holidays here.
So, it's quite likely I will not be around in the forum for the next few days as I will be going to Macau with them (and hopefully meet up with Hau-Ge) on Saturday.
ctjcad 10-01-2008, 05:45 PM ..and don't forget to take pics for us when you guys convene @ the stadium...there's a dearth of pics from the Macau Open..:p;)
Krisna 10-02-2008, 01:23 AM After yesterday's upset over Olga Kono, I expect Maria Febe Kusumastuti ...and Rosaria Pipin Pungkasari to go to the quarterfinals.... ;)
Stenger 10-02-2008, 04:29 AM Hi,
we have a new feature on our website. There are player interviews available as a video-podcast.
I'm sorry for the point that the interviews are in German.

badMania 10-02-2008, 12:08 PM After yesterday's upset over Olga Kono, I expect Maria Febe Kusumastuti ...and Rosaria Pipin Pungkasari to go to the quarterfinals.... ;)
...and your wishes are granted :D
Maria Febe Kusumastuti will face Lisa Heidenreich....who was lucky to get a WO over Xu Huaiwen, while Rosaria Yusfin Pungkasari will face a tough match against Julianne Schenk.
In the MD, the second-seed Fran Kurniawan/Rendra Wijaya will entertain Jorrit De Reuters/Jurgen Wouters.
In the WD, the top-seed Meiliana Jauhari/Shendy Puspa Irawati will face Petra Hofmanova/Sarka Kriskova.
In the XD, the top-seed Fran Kurniawan/Shendy Puspa Irawati have an interesting battle against Joachim Fischer Nielsen/Christinna Pedersen. This one should go to the distance.
badadum 10-03-2008, 08:18 AM ...

Fran/Shendy lost....... :crying:
Yong_Hui 10-03-2008, 08:49 AM andre go behind nw.....
is he make another sad for me???
aZn_Popcorn 10-03-2008, 04:16 PM alot of upsets yesterday...too bad didn't capitalize on it in PAW :(
samuel882 10-03-2008, 08:08 PM With AK47 out of the picture now.. I don't know what to say IF INA with 14 players/unit bing sent fail to return with more than 1 titles here
badMania 10-03-2008, 08:27 PM With AK47 out of the picture now.. I don't know what to say IF INA with 14 players/unit bing sent fail to return with more than 1 titles here
Err...PB Djarum only sends 10 players, which is a relatively a small number compared to other countries, with only 3 MS, 3 WS, 1 MD, 1 WD, 2 XDs  All other INA players (Rio Willianto, Endra Kurniawan) are not sent by Djarum.
Bearing in mind also that there are experienced European players/pairs in the draw (Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen and those Danish XD pairs).
I will be happy enough if Team Djarum can return home with 1 title, although its quite hard.
Andre Kurniawan Tedjono lost to the veteran Bjorn Joppien. He should have won, but, the German was a better player yesterday.
Fran Kurniawan/Shendy Puspa Irawati also lost to the dangerous XD pair Joachim Fischer Nielsen/Christinna Pedersen, who had lost to Zheng Bo/Gao Ling in rubber-sets. Joachim also parterned Britta Andersen and beat Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa as well as He Hanbin/Yu Yang early this year too. So, the loss was not that unexpected.
badMania 10-03-2008, 08:30 PM Fran/Shendy lost....... :crying:
Kinda expected as I wrote before the tourney began. That's gonna be a tough match and in terms of big matches experience (in SS), Joachim Fischer-Nielsen/Christinna Pedersen are relatively more experienced.
Yong_Hui 10-04-2008, 05:46 AM :cool:All other INA players (Rio Willianto, Endra Kurniawan) are not sent by Djarum.
so, r they going by themself or sending by another club/country?
Krisna 10-04-2008, 08:52 AM
so, r they going by themself or sending by another club/country?
I believe they are playing for European clubs (German clubs etc.) and those clubs usually support them to play in at least 2 European tournaments...;)
Sandy 10-04-2008, 10:46 AM Maria Febe d Ella Diehl 21-19, 12-21, 23-21 saved 2 MP and left 16-19, what a match

I am pleasantly surprised by Febe's newest feat! Finalist at a GP event! :D
Mel-Shendy's appearance in the finals is not too hard to imagine...
and... tough losses for Fran-Rendra and Rendra-Mel (18-21 21-13 26-24 loss to the unseeded Indians)... :(
All Indian final in MS... ...(good for my PAW) ;)

badMania 10-05-2008, 06:27 AM Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen add the Bitburger Open title to their collection as they beat the GER pair easily in straight sets. They are showing some good form recently as they also won the Yonex Chinese Taipei Open GP Gold 3 weeks ago, beating Tony Gunawan/Candra Wijaya in the Final.
badMania 10-05-2008, 07:22 AM Maria Febe Kusumastuti is now locked in a tight battle with Aditi Mutatkar, with scores level at one-set all (22-24, 21-8) and the Indian gal is leading 11-10 at the interval of the rubber-set.
limsy 10-05-2008, 07:23 AM Will Aditi Become Another Saina Nehwal????i Will Say,yes...
simonlovers 10-05-2008, 07:33 AM C'mon Febe..

badMania 10-05-2008, 07:37 AM What a tense finale! Maria Febe Kusumastuti saved 3 match points at 17-20 in the rubber-set, winning 4 straight pts to make it 21-20. The Indian gal saved 1 match pt, 21-21, but, Maria Febe won the last 2 points of the match and she won the Bitburger Open GP title!!
So, Team Djarum progresses to the KLRC Bulgarian Open GP with 1 title in the bag this week. Let's see how many more titles can they win in the remaining Euro tour in the next 2 weeks.

robin7 10-05-2008, 11:13 PM What a tense finale!

Maria did a good job to prevent INA from going home empty-handed. :p
CLELY 10-06-2008, 01:44 AM Yeah, good sign for India Badminton as its shuttlers won 2 titles yesterday, even created all Indian final in MS discipline. Not bad, INA bagged 1 title here through Maria Febe, quite surprising.
huangkwokhau 10-06-2008, 02:39 AM It si good for Maria to win this tournament.
She has struggled how to finish it off...in many matches, she was leading till match points then lost the match..I think by winning this tourney will boost her morale and confident...she is more talented than Elfira or Rosario but recent results showing Elfira knows how to handle the pressure well than Febe.
stork 10-06-2008, 03:15 AM maria febe ... hmm, i donīt like her ... as her win cost me my first paw-title ...

Hau-ge... are you still thinking about that 2008 INA Open SS match in which Febe led 20-18 against Pi Hongyan in game 3 but could not finish?!? Pi Hongyan's eventual 22-20 win over Febe cost you an opportunity to get 32 PAW points or something right? :p :D :D :D
But yes, it is true that after Maria Kristin, Maria Febe is the 2nd most talented among the three Djarum Maria-s... Febe's footwork reminded people of Susy Susanti's footwork (I'm serious)... Maria Elfira is the least talented of the 3, but probably the most hard-working and physically fit among the three... Febe is too skinny... no more upper-body-power at the end of a long-fought game 3... :p She needs to eat more Hamburger or something... ;)
