umm....this has been bothering me....

I was playing my friend the other day and she was asking me about the balance of my NS8000. I respond to her that it is head heavy. So, she took my racquet and inspected it for a bit. Then, she said that my NS8000 is head light balance.

I'm confused, should it be "Head Heavy"? or "Head Light Balance"?

What does it all mean?

Sorry if this topic has been covered.

You can search the forum if you want to understand what they mean. Basically it's the balance point of your racket.

Technically, the "Balance Point" of a racket is measured as the point, where the racket is perfectly balance, measured in cm from the end (butt) of the racket.

The term of head heavy, head light etc. can also be generally categorised as follows:
270 or less-280mm = Head Light
275-285mm = Balance
285-295mm or more = Head Heavy

The latest Yonex model now usually has the balance type printed on the shaft, but of course that is when it is in its original state, i.e. without string and with original grip. Once you add in your preferred string, add on one or more layer of grips, it will change the original balance point, and sometimes change the characteristic of the racket.

There could be a few reasons why your friend felt the racket differently than you. An example would be if she may have been so use to a real head-heavy racket such as a Ti-10, and when she hold on to your NS8000, it would seem head light in her hand.

Whatever it is, as long you feel comfortable with your own NS8000, it does not really matter if what other think, or if it is really head heavy or head light.

From the statistic given by yonex,NS series=head light. That means the balance point is below 280cm.Designed for fast play,n not for power. How to count the balance point?Measure it from the bottom of ur racket to which position does ur racket stands on the balance point.

The balance can be a relative term as many others described. However, I can hardly ever identify NS8000 as a head heavy racket to begin with. Personally, I believe NS8000 is the most head light racket in higher end Yonex line in recent years.
