View Full Version : It boIls down to these 4 rackets...
RyviuS 06-15-2002, 01:21 PM Anyone with a opionion or a suggestion to any one of these rackets please feel free to give your 2 cents ^^
I've gone searching and i've cut it down to these 4 yonex rackets.
I've gone and seen these rackets but i have not tried any so i'm reluctant to buy one.
1) Ti-5 light (no string. plan on stringing with Bg 70 pro if i get this one)
2) Isometric-750 Muscle
3) Isometric-97 VF
4) Isometric Ti Swing Power ( as for the version[SS,SX,SR,SA] which is the best one?
If you happen to have use or have 2 or more of these rackets it would be really helpful if u could just do bit of a comparison. :D
jsunsun 06-15-2002, 03:39 PM i'm selling my iso750 and ti sp sr if you want to try them. i'm in downtown toronto.
jsunsun 06-15-2002, 03:43 PM iso750 - medium stiff, very easy to use, very powerful.
ti sp sr - medium stiff, very maneuverable, a bit head heavy, yet a light racquet. very powerful for its weight.
ti5 - waaaay over-priced!
97vf - good control, but no power.
TDotSmAsHer 06-15-2002, 03:54 PM Ti-5 costs more then mp-55.... unbelievable... since mp-55 is so much better!
Pre-emptive 06-15-2002, 04:41 PM You have to tell us what you are looking for in a racket and what type of a player you are. Then we can give you advices that make sense. TiSP is very good if you prefer lighter rackets.
RyviuS 06-16-2002, 03:45 PM ya the Ti-5 costs 130 canadian...
Anyways i'm an intermediate player and i have very fast reflexes. Weight of the racket isn't really much of a difference but i'd like a racket that is a bit head heavy for more power. I started out playing more doubles than singles and so when i do play singles my clears from the back are a bit weak. I have a really good smash and would love to turn that birdie into a roasted bird if i can.
so the rackets i should consider are
mp55 (tDotsmasher where can u buy and how much?? only place iknow of for sports equip is sportscheck)
iso 750
ti sp
Thanx for all the replies ^^
Pre-emptive 06-16-2002, 06:30 PM My recommendation is the TiSP SX. Powerful smash and great manueverability.
jsunsun 06-17-2002, 12:12 AM if you're concerned about weak clears from the backcourt, i'd suggest iso750. it is a bit more flexible than mp55, and longer shaft. it requires very little effort to clear with a iso750. personally, i wouldn't recomend a SX racquet if you're having trouble clearing.
TDotSmAsHer 06-17-2002, 09:56 AM Oh yea... "Some" sport checks carry mp-55..... probably sell for around $100 + tax though and no string probably.
I don't know which ones.. but I think most sport checks ti-5 instead of mp-55 *Shrugs* ....
ti-5's aren't durable at all
RyviuS 06-17-2002, 05:27 PM btw jsunsun its not that i can't clear their just slow regular clears XD i want m0 pOwa.
Thanx for all the replies its been very informing ^^. I just recently as in right now got a new/used racket from an uncle who plays alot hehe nothing like a free quality racket.
He gave me his:
Yonex: Carbonex 7 Long 2U G2, handles bit small but i guess thats what u get with a G2.
Anyways the string looks like its gonna break at one point..tsk (lousy uncle hehehe) i think he stringed it with BG70 pro thats what he mentioned has in his Carbonex 200** btw this racket flew over provinces all the way from the west to the east so theres no refund haha or complaining**
k enuf with the dumb remarks. About the stringing, for the ppl who have or used this racket what string and lbs would u recommend?
Again Thanx a bunch for the replies

RyviuS 06-17-2002, 08:16 PM btw...i played a bit with this racket just smackng the birdie against a wall to test it out (wuz at home and was eager :D), seems okay , was wondering if i should even bother restringing it. What do u smart badminton ppl think? is this racket even that good or should i just go out and spend like 100 bux for a average racket.
Matt Ross 06-18-2002, 04:45 PM RyviuS,
I haven't used alot or yonex rackets, but here is my views and information about each one.
Ti-5 Light- A nice racket at 85 grams. This racket is well suited to most sorts of play, but is more likened to a doubles player who likes to defend. Not bad for singles so you can get away with it. With the Isometric head, the noram shaft and a medium stiffness in the shaft, this racket is good if your looking for control and touch.
Isometric-750 Muscle- Not a racket i have heard of over here. So i can't give much information on this one. Sorry
Isometric-97 VF- Mainly designed for racket sped and power. The technology in this racket makes it light (at a mere 85 grams) and the titanium mesh makes the fram stable. The box shaped frame near the T-Joint stops torsion and reinforces it's strength. This makes this racket suitable for those seeking control with power. Therefore, it would be a good singles racket but also i would think theis racket would perform well in doubles.
Isometric Ti Swing Power- These rackets are specificaly designed for your play. SA and SR shafts provide defensive players with head light models (only 81 grams!!) for easy racket speed and easy manouveribility.
The SS and SX shafts provide attacking players with head heavy and stiff models for more control. They all depend on the way you play, so if you tell me i would be more than glad to tell you what the best racket would be.
For your information though-
> SX = For people who wish to seek alot of power
> SS = For people who wish to seek alot of power
> SR = For those who seek power with control
> SA = For those who seek power with control
As for the racket you have got now, it's up to you whether you restring it or not. As you said it looks like the string may break some timesoon so you might aswell take the trouble to do it now. As for strings, i would go for BG65 at around 23lb. I feel this is a particually good tension as it has some trampline affect without being too 'dead' without any spring. If you like the strings as they are, wait till they break and then get them strung with the same strings. It's up to you. Also, if you don't like it then just keep it as a spare in your bag. If you want to buy one then do so, i mean Yonex are heading in the right direction with te new 'muscle power' versions. but the previous versions, like the isomentric and swing power versions do need to take alot of beating. The choice is up to you.
If you wish to tell me if you are-
> An offensive hard hitten
> A semi-offensive hard hitter
> A semi-defensive control player
> A defensive control player
Also tell me if you preferre a stiff or felxible racket, and i will tell you which best Swing power racket is suited to you.
I hope i have been some help, my hand is falling off now :)
If you need any other help, or anyone else for that matter, please dont hesitate to PM me
Matt :)
wow.. how could u type all that up
