Not bad...only 1 casualty in MD, which again fell to Hendra A. Gunawan/Joko Riyadi. They lost to Chris Adcock/Robert Blair in 3-sets: 20-22, 23-21, 19-21. The axe will be out soon....this pair should have no future! The English pair will face the second-seed Lars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen tomorrow.
A big thumbs up to Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan as they downed the in-form MAS pair Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari/Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif in 3 hard-fought sets: 21-15, 12-21, 21-17. They are up against the home favorite Shuichi Sakamoto/Shintar Ikeda [6] in the QF tomorrow. If they can win, a place in the Final for INA is guaranteed.
The last time I checked livescore, Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan lost the first set 20-22, and trailed 8-11 at the interval of the second set. What a comeback from the Olympic Champions as they beat the highly-rated KOR youngsters Cho Gun Woo/Yoo Yeon Seong, taking the second set 21-18 (despite trailing most of the time), and 21-13 in the rubber-set.
Kido/Hendra will face their compatriot: Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki as Rian/Yoke won in straight-sets over the Japanese pair. I expect another rubber-set.
The veteran pair Tony Gunawan/Candra Wijaya also won in straight sets 21-19, 21-17 over the British pair of Richard Eidestedt/Andrew Ellis. They will face another home pair Tadashi Ohtsuka/Keita Masuda for a place in the SF.

In the Men's Singles, no surprises as the second and fourth-seeds Sony Dwi Kuncoro and Taufik Hidayat march on without any problem. Alamsyah Yunus and Tommy Sugiarto lost to Kenichi Tago and Joachim Persson respectively. Simon Santoso also lost to Qiu Yanbo as he retired in the second set.
In the Women's Singles, Maria Kristin Yulianti will be facing a rematch against Lu Lan as she beat Wong Mew Choo in three-sets: 18-21, 21-13, 21-6.
In the Women's Doubles, the new pairing of Nitya Krishinda Maheswari/Greysia Polii recorded their first win as they beat Heather Olver/Suzanne Rayappan in 2 sets: 21-11, 21-11. They should face the top-seed Satoko Suetsuna/Miyuki Maeda in the QF tomorrow.
Left one more match in the WD, with Vita Marissa/Liliyana Natsir against Yasuyo Imabeppu/Shizuka Matsuo.

The new kids on the block, Cho Gun Woo/Yoo Yeon Seong and Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan are the highlights of MD matches today. The KOR pair nearly staged an upset of monumental proportion, as they still led 17-15 late in the second-set  But, experience ultimately proved to be the crucial factor as Kido/Hendra won 5 pts in a row to make it 20-17, and allowed the KOR pair only 1 more pt to take it 21-18. The third-set basically was quite a close-affair also with the scores at 17-14 when the INA pair again raced to win the match 21-14.
Bona/Ahsan also show good performances in the past few mths, losing only to the pairs deemed superior to them (like Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen and also the pair they beat today). They exacted their revenge on Fuzzy, despite having fewer smash and net winners. A nice upset which will hopefully spur them for another likely upset tomorrow, against the much-improved Japanese pair.
